I'm thinking of buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with a telco plan but I don't know which one will satisfy my needs

Got an email from Courts. It's as follow:

"Refer to announcement made by Samsung they will provide a one to one exchange for your unit. Samsung will send the replacement unit to our branches. You are need to bring your full set to the preferred branch. Our branch personnel, will not being able to proceed with replacement if incomplete set received.



Therefore, May I know which branch that you prefer to collect the item and when you can come to collect. We also would like to know the color of phone you received.



We appreciate your feedback by 20th September 2016 for quick arrangement."

Got it at 5.10pm and they expect to get a feedback by tomorrow.. o..kay...

And something to note is COMPLETE SET.. judging from the email they dont know our phone colour so maybe can change colour for those who want? But Imma stick with my black =)

Not really. You still can find S7 in the retail stores and some telco centres.

Im waiting to get another unit at 50% discount for all those that preordered previously.

Courts need owner to personally go and get the phone replaced. Unless there is a very solid reasons and that, you can appoint someone to replaced on your behalf. With the condition, you need to write a Letter of Authorisation.

Really so troublesome! Courts gets a thumbs down from me this time!

Just wanna tell you guys that I sent back my N7 to Maxis this morning. Got a gold J7 as a loaner.
Signed a form telling me that I will be fully responsible for the J7 if anything happens.
Also they told me since it's a new set I will need to return it in 'new condition' so they can sell it later. Not possible I say since I used it....
And the sell it later part, not so ethical to me...

What a load of bull. Cmon lah, Redmi Note 3 has smaller phone size and bigger battery than Note 7, but I have yet to hear any RN3 exploding ...

3D dimensions of Redmi Note 3 is slightly bigger than Note 7...... If Samsung removed the s-pen and utilise the space for more battery... it would likely have an equal or greater in battery capacity

If they remain, they won't get new customer. If they give discount, those who pre order will fk them kau kau ... depend how they want to handle this ... seems like the only sensible move would be ... same price ... but those units that they take back from us will be refurbished then to be sold cheaper ... only personal opinion

I got call from them last week Sunday... asked me about nearest Courts branch and they say replacement programme will start after 30th Sept and the my nearest Courts branch will call me bck to fix an appoinment... they ask to bring whole set with original invoice and asked me which color i am using now... I asked them wether is that possible to change color and they say cant change color...

I can't see any reason why changing color will cause them extra loss unless the color is custom-made. And i can't see the reason why they have to reject exchanging defective phone just because of missing accessories. The main issue is the phone, not accessories.

Sometimes i really feel people need to go through IQ Test before getting a job. The result must be written on their resume.

Maybe you're not looking at the bigger picture. Assuming they allow you to change color, do you think they will have enough stock for others as well?

As per what monked said, Samsung is currently trying to cope with the replacement program and produce the exact same amount of phone for we all. So if lets say everyone want to change color, wouldn't it be a mess?

As for accessories, imagine if u sent it back ur phone only, is it OK if samsung hand u only the new phone? without any box?

Max2006, do you have any news to share on users in other countries with the new replacement phones having 'bootloop' issues?

finally encountered the 'bootloop' after 1 month of usage.

now that i've experience it, it's more like stuck at boot screen instead of a bootloop.

things to note -
crash when phone in use never while idle.
can only boot and usable after forcing restart about 20 times. including going to download mode to restart.
phone occassionally crash again and stuck until forced restart but now only need 2-3 tries instead of 20.
auto update firmware and security update set to off.
feels like might be due to internal storage corruption by the way it crashes. similar to emmc brickbug from 2012/2013?
was experiencing crashes and then auto restart about 3 times in 1 week prior to this. only few apps installed. so anyone encountering crashes might want to start backing up their data and prepare for it.

That is totally bs. You will know when it is a refurbished unit, the price will be different. They wont sell it as new unit.

Nope, so far so good. there's no significant news/reports to show that users are having booloop issues on the replacement units. However, previously there's a forumer reporting that Samsung Singapore facebook page got complaints regarding Singapore owner had bootloop issue on the replacement phone. I went there and checked. Yes, there's complaints. However, the amount is very small though. Could be isolated cases.

IMO, it's still too early to say, since the replacement day (in some other countries) only started couple days ago. Only times can tell whether the replacement units are completely problem free.

I had not encounter it and hope never will. did saw some ppl in thread having this bootloop issue and send to CS.
seem to be motherboard failure. and I did some google and found out similar to what you said, emmc brickbug in during old time for old Galaxy series.

Bootloop, battery issue actually make me consider to take other manufacture phone, but in the end I can't. LOL
love the new dual pixel camera performance on low light/day time as well, 4k/slow mo, S-pen is the most lovely feature I like (never use note-series), to screenshot, gif, Draw a lots on picture and photo (for fun ). battery last 1 whole day with 4-6h SOT, fast charging 1 hour from 30% to full, UI is beautiful, fingerprint is fast, 4gb/64gb is more than enough (with 64 gb memory card as well)
consider other like Sony (camera algorithm still suck), huawei (UI really... not my type), LG (too exp and hard to find retailer/CS), HTC ( same as LG), VIVO (X7 plus not in Msia yet and no OIS in camera), and Apple I7plus? (no way, most exp and IOS really not user friendly)
Samsung seem offer lots features into one phone, just can't resist.

hope our new batches have no/lower battery and bootloop issue.

Again and again, the issue is the phone. Not the accessories. Not EVEN the box.. OMG

Delivery is still ok. But to personally go to the selected branch is troublesome.

This is purely my theory but i think he is pretty much right. To ensure minimal fuss for the production, they would obviously choose to manufacture the same amount of phones for each market (so either everyone gets the same colour or you get the colour you picked previously), otherwise, they will have to make plenty extra in case suddenly all black onyx users choose silver for example. if u were original silver user but when u go to pick up your phone left black, u will be pissed. This is the most logical solution.

For the case of the box, I think they want to avoid people having the wrong imei number etc etc printed on the box.

However, for the accessories, this seems to be limited to SME, so I don't see the logic in demanding everything in the box to be returned.

Sorry bro. As I said previously, I am waiting for the blue coral version. Not sure if SME will bring in the new color or not after the fisco. But I am still considering to get one (depends how the situation goes on after few months). Thanks for you offer though.

Not to be bias on either side, but I think both would want to gain some advantage over the other party in this exercise.

Owner wants to take advantage when returning less accessories back and expect SME to give them a whole new set with complete accessories.

SME wants to recover as many accessories as possible (more recover = more potential buyer in accessories, more recover = less to re-include in the refurbished set later)

Call me skeptical but I am sure some of the users out there would like to take this advantage.

IMHO the exchange should be strict, whatever accessories you didn't return, deduct from the replacement set. The condition of the phone doesn't matter if the screen cracked, not bootable, (missing SPen is arguable)

PM me the details (colour of the phone) and price that u are letting go the Note 7.
BTW, I am only available to deal on 7 Oct 2016 when i am back from overseas.

at least Samsung Singapore is reaching out to the fella.
