the faster way that i know and proven, eat 6 times per day, and make sure you eat rice 1 and half hour before you exercise. Do the deadlift, squat, bench press, pull-up and bent-over row. I gurantee your weight will shoot up in 1 month time or else you do it in the inappropriate way.

u shud becareful what u eat to increase weight. what u want is muscle mass and not fats right? don't go eat 6 meals a day with all the cheese etc and not work out. end of the day, u'll gain too much body fat which is not good, nobody wants too much fats. all u need to do is head to the nearest gym, go pump some iron, and make sure u consume 1gm of protein for every pound of body weight u have. so 46kg x 2.2 = 101 pounds. take 101 pounds of protein a day, together with weight training. u'll gain muscle mass. and not fat. therefore, u'll have a pumped up body along with a good BMI. ur calorie intake has to increase also as u work out more. the bigger the muscle, the more calorie u need to maintain it. in short, get a good dose of calorie and protein intake, and workout hard.
i doubt u'll be able to get 101 grams of protein a day just from normal food intake, so u might wanna invest in supplements like ON whey proteins and Muscle Tech's Cell Tech creatine. they might be costly though. |

opps.....typo error....i means 101 gram of protein. 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight. so ur 101 pounds(46kg) right? so take 101 grams of protein lor. ermmm....u can take tau fu, eggs, soy milk, etc etc. if u take supplements then its whey protein lor, filtered proteins.
http://www.wheyoflife.org/faq.cfm#1 u can read up more on whey proteins at the above link This post has been edited by red-queen: Oct 10 2006, 04:12 PM |

Eat less to lower metabolism?? at least from wat i know, it is true. our body is made to survive. when u eat less, the body will use less energy as wat happens when u are having starvation. U GUYS MIGHT NOTICE too when we eat too much we will feel hot. then energy in the food is used in a higher rate-higher meta rate This post has been edited by simyan: Oct 12 2006, 05:07 PM |

Eat less to lower metabolism?? at least from wat i know, it is true. our body is made to survive. when u eat less, the body will use less energy as wat happens when u are having starvation. carb is carbohydrate larr. Take oily food so u will get fatter haha. Logically lerr u think urself.
Carbs u take if not used will be converted into glicogens by our liver, excessive carbs will then be converted to fat tissues and stored in adipose. The layer under your skin |

QUOTE(darklight79 @ Oct 17 2006, 05:17 PM) What?????? Squats, deadlift and bench press ARE the BASICS!! Lateral raises are iso's. i mean if u dont have good muscle back up and without correct posture and some one supervising u. u can easily hurt ur self. my uncle is a Consultant Orthopaedic and a trauma surgeon. he have patients who broke their spine during heavy deadlife/squats workout. i'm not saying its bad but it requires some one to supervise u and the correct posture.Everything has a potential to get you crippled for life, even bicep curls. Where'd you get your facts from? I suggest you please edit your post so that people don't get completely wrong advice. |

This kind of foods you mentioned above not only have a high chance of getting hypertension but also heart attack if persistently eating. If you are not helping, pls stay away from ppl's threat as well as paying high respect to those giving extra hand and treat starter himself. QUOTE(renesisx @ Oct 9 2006, 12:11 PM) anybody here knows how to increase my weight.. You may try Appeton weigh gain (milk powder), it's quite effective in putting on weigh but you have to do exercises everyday in order to keep the muscle firm. I think you can see the effects in two weeks time. ony 46 with height of 162..makes my BMI very2 not ideal lol.. Beware of the eating habit, gaining weigh must be in a healthy way instead of of jus eating oily food, it will cos you gaing fat only. Try to eat protein food. |

But, I have admit, I delibaretly lose weight/diet for quite a long time. Then, after a while, people called me skinny. Then, I try to gain back some weight. Yes,the weight gaining is just eating & eating rice, but the weight gain stopped at 60 kg & it can not move up. However, after I just drink milk for 2 months, I gain 4 kg (60==> 64 kg)!! I also take multiminerals & God liver Oil, not sure whetner these supplements contribute to weight gain?? Tonnes of Milk = Appenton weight gain. ps. Lactorese sensitive person should avoid cow milk. |

QUOTE(tan_pang @ Oct 19 2006, 02:27 PM) soli, coz i get the wrong word wah this word "metabolism", I think have to go back bio study lar long time nvr touch.. Well, if not mistaken as normal healthy guy should increase the rate of metabolism If you want to lose weight quickly and permanently. If you have any doubt about this and believe it has more to do some miraculous diet then just think about those thousands of super lean bodybuilders who have developed an incredibly fast metabolic rate. Some of these guys try hard to actually GAIN weight and often need to eat huge quantities of food to overcome the rapid metabolism!want to ask about the metabolism rate how we know that it is high or low?? The trouble for dieters is many fad diets on the market actually cause the metabolism rate to slow down, and a lowered metabolism is very often the reason weight loss progress grinds to a sudden halt. As weight loss slows a dieter may reduce food intake further, but this still has no affect on progress because the net loss of protein continues to lower the metabolism and the body once again adapts to the low calorie intake. Also attempting exercise in order to increase the metabolism at this stage may actually make it worse. For me I think if you are the one who can easily gain weigh, you should belong to low rate metabolic (storing energy type), try to imagine there are several animals can hibernate during winter time without eating any food (eg. tortoise, snake....), the purpose is to store energy by lowering the rate of metabolic in order to pass the long period of winter time. In contrary, high metabolic can burn calories easily after taking a lot of high energy food... Correct me if I have mistake mentioned above... |

it's all in the mind. if the mind is not trained to take extra food, you wont gain weight. if you are a heavy smoker and eat less food, you tend not to gain weight as well. so basically, if you can trained your mind like a Hobbit, then chances of gaining weight is higher. eg.1st breakfast, 2nd breakfast, 3rd breakfast, etc. there is also somthing to consider... metabolism, if its high then you may need to eat double your normal intake if not triple to counter. but worry not, metabolism decreases when you aged. if you're young in age, enjoy those wonderful metabolism!! coz once you're in fat category, with the workload of this secular world, there's no time for exercises as well lor.

one of the fastest way to increase weight, take supper, but of course it is not very health.
do u drink beer, becuz beer gives you that fugly beer belly if ya drink too much. it's ok to take a little, but take in moderation. btw, rice does not make you fat. if u always favour those char kuey teow or hokkien fried, yeah, that is what that will get you. and if you always eat out, chances are you will put on more weight. stuff like mc d's or kfc, those are the ones that make ppl fat. |

QUOTE(tysern @ Oct 19 2006, 07:58 PM) one of the fastest way to increase weight, take supper, but of course it is not very health. another useless idea... I repeat here pls do not suggest any unhealthy ways to gain weight... They will only harm u gaining fat instead of gaining weight in a healthy way... do u drink beer, becuz beer gives you that fugly beer belly if ya drink too much. it's ok to take a little, but take in moderation. btw, rice does not make you fat. if u always favour those char kuey teow or hokkien fried, yeah, that is what that will get you. and if you always eat out, chances are you will put on more weight. stuff like mc d's or kfc, those are the ones that make ppl fat. QUOTE(tan_pang @ Oct 20 2006, 08:11 AM) then, i should eat egg + bread The perfect timing in taking ur breakfast is falling into 7am - 9am.and drink milk?? if eat oat again, i afraid i will late to school...... But lets see what are the reasons to cause you under weight? There are only two reasons to be underweight. Either you are not eating enough or there is something medically wrong. Sure maybe you are naturally thin but being underweight is different than being thin. When you are underweight you are not healthy. And maybe you have a fast metabolism but that just means you have to eat more than some people. I will be honest and say that most people who are underweight that I have met through this threat, and I have met hundreds over the years now, simply do not eat enough. They may feel like they eat a lot but when I get them to track their food they realize they aren't eating much. And for the ones that are eating more than enough they always end up discovering some kind of physical problem. Even something as simple as a food intollerance or vitamin deficiency can cause malnuritionment and malabsorption of your foods and minerals leaving your body struggling to maintain your health. What has actually made me extremely sensitive to allergens that had been previously only a mild problem because it has made my digestion so poor that a lot of nutrients were not getting to my body. The answer is that eat the fruits after taking a meal... It took a long time to finally figure this problem out. I was able to eliminate foods basically just one food at a time by keeping very careful attention to the way my body responded to foods. If you are underweight you should see a doctor and discuss your weight concerns with them and request testing to rule out all medical reasons that could be causing your low weight (examples are food intollerances, liver problems, malnutrition due to an unbalanced diet, IBS, Chron's, Celiac Disease, etc). Allergy testing can be helpful too but it will not tell you if you have a food intollerance as intollerances are different than allergies. With an intollerance the symptoms are usually not as severe and easier to miss. An allergenist would be a good person to visit too, not only for allergy testing but also for guidance in doing an ellimination diet. You could have problems with a number of foods such as sulfites, msg, corn, wheat, dairy, dyes, preservatives, and even pesticides or fertilizers (fluorine is a common fertilizer and I believe it is the reason I have an allergic reaction to non-oragnic rice but can eat organic rice without problems). One more note about your food, do not assume that just because you have a reaction of some kind of rush during recess time after eating something that it is the cause. Your reaction could be being caused by something you ate several hours prior or even the day before. Vitamins can also be a problem if you have food intollerances. That is why it is important to pay very careful attention so that once you start noticing trends you can test it. For example if you have some kind of reaction to something , then look at everything you ate in the previous 24-36 hours. Let's say you got the symptom right before bed and this is how you ate in the previous 36 hours: See the list below: 36 hours ago: lunch of sandwhich and a energy bar(cereal) 28 hours ago: supper of mee goreng or roti sardin 16 hours ago: breakfast of cereal with milk and orange juice 10 hours ago: lunch of soup and bread with butter on it 4 hours ago: supper of roast beef and steamed veggies so now the next day test those exact same things but eat them in a different order: 24 hours ago: breakfast of cereal with milk and orange juice 16 hours ago: lunch of mee goreng and roti sardin 10 hours ago: supper of soup and bread with butter on it 4 hours ago: breakfast of sandwhich and a granola bar And lets say today you got the symptom right before lunch (notice how I changed the hours ago to reflect the new time you got the symptom. Look to see what foods match the times. It looks like the culprit is something you ate during your soup and bread with butter meal and now you know that it takes 10 hours for the symptom to show up so you can individually test the things that you ate during that meal. If you don't get the symptom again then you know that it was probably not due to the food you ate and that is good news. I know this is time consuming but this is the only way I was able to cut out all of the foods I have problems with and if you don't show up as being allergic to anything this is a great way to determine if you have food problems or not. Foods that are healthy but high in calories and/or fat: KFC Or Mc D Coconut and Young Coconut Meat Nuts/Seeds except Soy nuts (have half the calories of other nuts/seeds, also there are a lot of people that do not believe soy is good for you in any form) Bananas Coconut oil, Hempseed oil, Flaxseed oil, Extra Virgin Olive oil Recipes: Breakfast Shake #1: 1.5-2 cups fresh juice, 1/2 cup almonds, 2 tbsp flaxseed, 4 tbsp hempseed oil, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup frozen berries. (1250 calories) Breakfast Shake #2: 3 bananas (fresh or frozen), 25 dates, handful almonds, 2 scoops of protein powder. (approx 1200 calories) Breakfast Shake #3: Make up your own! Add some of the high calorie/fat ingredients above together with sweet fruit, some coacoa powder, whatever! Breakfast Shake#4: You may try out protein shake (You may google the recipes yourself) Please remember I am NOT a doctor. I highly recommend that you visit a doctor before changing your eating or exercise routines. Take your own risk... For reference purpose.. |

Hi renesisx,
You cant gain weight is mayb due to your digest system. The thing you ate are unable to digest completely and cant absorb by your body properly. Please do not eat alot alot just to gain weight. that is wrong concept. If you do so, you get unhealthy fat. Make it balance meal, 1st thing you need to do every morning wake up drink up 500ml water. Why you need to do so? this is to wash out your stomach in order to digest better for the day. If you really willing to be faster, mayb you can try out detoxification. Just for Sharing |

First, define "jus awake in the morning"? 10 minutes after waking up? 20? 30? Also would the 500ml of water have to be taken in 1 shot or could it be taken over a few minutes for it to be a "burden to your heart"?Ideal amount of water should be in between 225 to 300ml (roughly 8 glasses a day). Here's a tip, when posting a "tip" like the one quoted, provide a link to a documented medical journal or article so we know you're actually posting fact not BS. The ideal amount of water is determined by the amount of water lost, it varies from person to person. A person who exercises daily and sweats alot will need to drink more than a person who doesnt. |

ermmm... i everyday wake up in the morning, the first thing is go toilet to pee and after that i drink 500ml of warm water. Why is it impossible to drink 500 ml of water? I can even drink down 1L of water if i want to. My cup is a big 500ml cup. After breakfast another 500~1000ml of water will be down my stomach. If it is my workout day, my water consumption will be around 3~5L per day. No problem at all, just need to go toilet often. Plus some more these days the air quality so bad, my body need to drink more water or else my lips will crack open up. Not to mention that the amount above is without the consumption of whey protein, if the whey protein comes in, my need to drink much more water. This is just me.

You wouldnt want to bet on that one Personally, I can get off the bed instantly, go take a glass of water, drink it down, refill the glass and chug it down. I don't see a need to take 5 mins to sit in bed before getting up, by that time I'm usually already warming up for my morning runs. So, no I don't think it's common sense to have to sit in bed for 5 minutes. |

What are you talking about? Squats, deadlift, bench press, all result in a momentary increase in BP. Define exercises which don't increase BP. Drinking 8 glasses of water is for a normal ppl without doing any hypertension exercises, this must also see the water needed by the ppl himself or herself (individually see, so i put a range 225 to 300ml). In contrary, if u are a athlete who do a lot of exercises of cos you need to drink a lot of water. And as for your take in not taking in water the moment we get off bed? I wake up and i head straight to the kitchen for my morning shake of milk, oats, whey and fish oil. And the milk is 500ml. And 8 glasses of water a day is normal under normal conditions. If you work in an air conditioned environment, you need more water to stave of dehydration. What about manual labor jobs? Are you trying to tell me they should limit themselves to 8 glasses a day? Unless they're sufferring from a critical phase of congestive cardiac failure, i don't think your posts holds much validity. However if you're talking in extremes, for a normal person, 30 glasses of water a day is too much, but i don't see what's wrong with a normal person consuming 10-12 glasses a day. I do, and that's not counting in my milk, which is also liquid. This post has been edited by darklight79: Oct 21 2006, 02:43 AM |

QUOTE(T+1 @ Oct 25 2006, 10:36 PM) actually, is there any problem workout in air-conditioned gym? Doesn't matter. You're still losing moisture cos of dry air conditioning even though you don't see the sweat. Lots of water---- drink. i hardly sweat when doing weight training. btw, i sweat a lot in doing cardio and can consume 1 liters of water in half an hour. |

QUOTE(Lover @ Nov 17 2006, 12:36 PM) Lift weights and eat at least 4 meals a day. Each meal must be packed with protein and calories (of course preferrably healthy as well) not just empty meals like mihun goreng or fish ball noodle soup. Very simplified conclusion. |

your food. quality and quantity. if u workout on cardio too often of course u'll be skinny. eat more carbs and protein. plan out your daily diet nicely. your quantity and quality of food is important.
and u dont have to post the same problem in 2 threads lol |

You may be surprised, newcomers might know some things which are new to us, so i try taking some things with an open mind, but retarded statements like muscles turning into fat are obviously stupid. However, the recalcitrant ones who persist in being jackasses and continue to stand by their statements even when presented with proof which shows it to be contrary to their initial statments, those are the ones who need a good flaming or warning. |

READ people!!!
there are 11 pages on this thread and still the last question is, 'what do i eat?' I had the same problem some time ago, but i started reading all over the forums and now im back on track. Use the following steps if you're really serious about doing something: 1) Make up your mind. If you really want to change the way you look, you have to start spending time on yourself. you won't just grow into a hunk one fine day. 2) Make yourself a timetable or atleast a meal planner. If you can't eat and sleep on time, there is no way you can change yourself. Your body reacts to major changes, not an extra roti for supper. 3)List down all the healthy foods. your main aim would be to eat more protien(muscle tissue), carbs(fuel your body), and less fat(you're looking for quality weight, not flabs dripping off your body) This is a list from my notes that i've made over the time, mainly from other sites. (yes, u have to get off that chatroom and start making some notes) High Protein Foods Whey protein Oats Cottage cheese Eggs Egg whites Chicken breasts Turkey Breasts Lean Beef Fish (tuna, salmon) Protein bars Egg Protein Powder Casein Milk* * Yes, milk - for us skinny guys whole milk is a wonder food when it comes to adding quality weight to our bodies. High Carbohydrate Food Potatoes Sweet Potatoes, yams Oatmeal, cream of wheat, cream of rice Rice Beans Any green leafy vegetable Bread Pasta Healthy Fats Olive oil Sunflower oil Safflower oil Flaxseed oil Walnuts Coconut Oil Avocados 4)Yes we know you can't really jump from eating 2 rotis a day to 6 huge meals. Start forcing yourself to eat as much as possible. you can start by making your meals from the list above (and read up more on the internet for healty food). stop eating at the mamak, and start packing your fridge with good food. specially lots of meat, peanut butter, cheese, eggs and milk! 5) start working out!!! while your at it, try gaining some strength and put all that food to good use. you dont want to see a huge belly after a month. For starters, try this: darklight79's wonderful sticky: Building for beginners Last but not the least of my 2 cents... If i can do it, so can all of you. I've started since a while, and i'm sure i'm gaining some good mass. Best of luck to all the skinny brothers! PS: darklight79, please correct me if i'm wrong on any part. |

Hey dubaimax. Are you the guy who contacted me on Friendster? If that's you, nice post mate. Good to see you finally came here. Keep us updated on your progress. Btw, that's not my article, I'm just passing down useful things i pick up from my American friends. Kethnaab is a very knowledgeable member from bb.com. I've had the honour of him helping me customize my new 5 x 5 program.

yup darklight, i was the one. Thanks to you,
and yes i've read most of Kethnaab's stuff. indeed, amazing knowledge! i hope the guys here who had problems with their diet start reading on this forum and on bodybuilding.com - both are like the free encyclopedias. all you have to do is pick out what suits you and be determined to use the programs. as for me..i finally started making stuff at home. my daily meals are usually a mix of: eggs milk oats chicken breast (yes, i love nandos!) turkey peanut butter cottage cheese spinach rice lots of vegetables - lettuce, carrots.. fruits - atleast one everyday water - i'm trying to get into the habit of carrying water with me everywhere i go, and i dont wait for my throat to get dry, i just drink the water anyways.(almost close to a gallon... its tuff, but its showing me results!!) oh and those who rely on soda - i was a cola addict. if u cant drink plain water, add some lemon or drop in a mint leaf in your water bottle. do anything just stay away from soda! i've not yet stepped on the scale, i like to see large differences so i'm waiting till new years to see how much i've gained. as for fat, i know what i'm eating, the rest i can see in the mirror so the rest of you who are still looking for 'what to eat when ur not sleeping' well, go for some grocery shopping, turst me, its cheaper and healthier than you mamak! best of luck guys! PS: darklight - i'm still to start on RIPPETOE's program(-religiously) cuz i'm travelling a lot the whole day and the gym is an hour away from home, probably start serious workout in december. do you think i should post my journal online here or let it stay in my diary? ( just dont like every tom jack and mark making stupid comments...) This post has been edited by dubaimax: Nov 27 2006, 12:20 PM |

QUOTE(dubaimax @ Nov 27 2006, 11:50 AM) yup darklight, i was the one. Thanks to you, Dubaimax, the regulars at this section aren't like some of the retards you find at Kopitiam or Cupid's. When they post, they give usefull feedback. They have the respect not to post any bullshit on anyone's journal and their comments will be constructive and useful. There are quite a lot of people here on Rippetoe's and Madcow's. A few names would be pizzaboy, carlsuen, joey kun, nezzy, etc, etc so they will know what you're going through. I suggest you start a journal here.and yes i've read most of Kethnaab's stuff. indeed, amazing knowledge! i hope the guys here who had problems with their diet start reading on this forum and on bodybuilding.com - both are like the free encyclopedias. all you have to do is pick out what suits you and be determined to use the programs. as for me..i finally started making stuff at home. my daily meals are usually a mix of: eggs milk oats chicken breast (yes, i love nandos!) turkey peanut butter cottage cheese spinach rice lots of vegetables - lettuce, carrots.. fruits - atleast one everyday water - i'm trying to get into the habit of carrying water with me everywhere i go, and i dont wait for my throat to get dry, i just drink the water anyways.(almost close to a gallon... its tuff, but its showing me results!!) oh and those who rely on soda - i was a cola addict. if u cant drink plain water, add some lemon or drop in a mint leaf in your water bottle. do anything just stay away from soda! i've not yet stepped on the scale, i like to see large differences so i'm waiting till new years to see how much i've gained. as for fat, i know what i'm eating, the rest i can see in the mirror so the rest of you who are still looking for 'what to eat when ur not sleeping' well, go for some grocery shopping, turst me, its cheaper and healthier than you mamak! best of luck guys! PS: darklight - i'm still to start on RIPPETOE's program(-religiously) cuz i'm travelling a lot the whole day and the gym is an hour away from home, probably start serious workout in december. do you think i should post my journal online here or let it stay in my diary? ( just dont like every tom jack and mark making stupid comments...) |

if you dont like coconut oil and avocados, i'd suggest you use the rest on the list.
but FYI Coconut oil: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/72/81772.htm Avocados: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/11/1671_51079.htm no harm being against it or not using it, but a little reading may just add on to some useful knowledge.. current stats: almost 3 weeks on the bulking program, i notice my bodyweight increasing rapidly, i feel good all along the day, much more active than usual. drinking water every 5-10 mins(except 20mins before and after a meal). i can see a slight addition to my waist but then, nothing worth having comes easy! I should be starting my workout by today. will adjust my diet according to the workout timings. best of luck guys! |

QUOTE(jones007 @ Dec 16 2006, 12:05 AM) always compare your diet and calorie intake iwth bodybuilders. dont compare with your peers. then u'll know u r actually eating very little. Let's not compare me with the pros ok?Here's the break down of what i eat in a day : Morning before work: Cereals and 2 slices of bread with peanut butter and a glass of milk. Breakfast during work: Nasi lemak with everything and 2 roti kosong whatever roti that come to mind and milo ais Lunch : Erm, depends. Maybe a four course meal or 5 consists of fish, pork, chicken, seafood and vege Tea: Whatever that is nice.Mee goreng or maggi and such. Before dinner: Slices of pizza or cake with coffee. Dinner : Meat, meat, meat , vege , rice... it's different everyday. supper : Your usual nasi goreng or maggi goreng ; mamak food. Like i said, i can eat and eat and eat, i still don't gain any good or bad weight. edit: there's always meat in my meal, either chicken or beef. and also i love taking a lot of red meat. I prefer a strong, buffed short guy (even shorter than me) than weak, skinny tall guy.
But ppl say. Short man, huge.... ego. Put 'buffed' in the equation and I may end up with the biggest jerk in the world. |

Er yeah. Many girls dont like muscles on their body too. So I think I'm just weird
Fat != buffed I always assume fat men and women are lazy. Most of them are (I was laaaaaazy too) But that doesnt mean skinny ppl are living healthy lives either. They're just on the luckier side of the genetic lottery. |

I don't think you can vote up a mod, though I could be wrong.
I don't want to nominate people who don't want to be mods in the first place and let's face it I'm just too lazy to think about it. If there is something that you think needs to be removed from the board you can always report it or pm me about it. I don't read all the threads and I'm not on all the time, I miss things. |

Be careful of what you thin people wish for. It is very easy to gain weight as you grow older and if you have a 9-5 office job.

i guess u must 've seen advertisement on tv regarding weightgain that is use to gain weight but i dont think that it is really work for gaining weight , there are more ways to gain weight in a healty way , like try to balance your food daily , add some nutrious meal to your menu like milk or eggs , chocolate would be fine but not many, and avoid fat food or snack ,because snack or junk food can really make u lose appetite ,beside do some regular execises . |

They r 3 keys to growth: diet, workout program and nutritional supplements.
For many ppl, they are good alone. But for hardgainer, u may need all 3 together to propel ur goal quickly. u need a program for growth, a supplement alone will not work. |

Lift weights to grow, cardio to burn fat. Combine both to hopefully get the best of both. You must also have rest days if you intend to grow, coz I assure you you will shrink if you have no rest.

If you just want to pack on 5-10lbs and don't have a regular workout, why not just start with the simple stuff which require no equipment. Pullups, pushups, weightless squats, jump squats, crunches, situps, the bodyweight stuff. If that doesn't do it for you, go to a gym, you don't need to go 4-7 times a week, 3 times a week with a good workout routine and good diet will get you your weight.

And by the end of year I am going to turn 20. My weight did not gain at all when I was 15. This is really desperate for me. I looked so ugly ;( |

As for my lunch, the meal could be erratic, but mostly chinese foods like noodle etc. While I am having rice for my dinner regularly, and the dishes usually include fish, vege, chicken. I don't know if rice is useful for putting on wieght, plus I am not really a big fan of rice. Also I used to have a lot of junk food and snacks. These kind of diet has kept me company since I was young. As for training programm, I don't really work out for quite a time because I found it is not working for me. Could it be the faster metabolism rate that hinders me from gaining weight? |

My scenario is almost similiar with Vanishing cant really gain weight .. but maybe I would say that the diet might not work out properly with the right food pyramid scheme. I agreed that we should not skip breakfast .. I came across some of the meal preparation recipe from a magazine. Maybe later tonight I will post it up here for you guyz to have a look at it. You don't necessarily have to eat 5 meals a day, nor do you have to work as hard as people like darklight or pizzaboy do. The thread I linked has alot of information on eating and working out. You could read through it and get an idea of what you can do to gain clean weight. |

Oh yah, do remember, you eat alot to gain weight but make sure you go for those healthy food. Not food like ice cream, chocolate those stuff. You sure get diabetes someday if you eat sweet stuff everyday. I know alot of thin people trying this medium but you are dangering your own health.

try to balance everything so that you can gain all the mineral.
According to my Chinese Doctor, she told me that thin ppl like us, the inner body of us get heats up very fast. So, we cannot eat too much of the food that can make our body heat up fast. If the body heat up means the food got digested and came out along with our pee without absorb into our body. But i only went for the treatment for 2 course lar ... then she left Malaysia and went to UK as she got a better offer there. She recommended me to another doctor but i don't think i will continue that treatment anymore. It is not cheap ... haha Oh yea, she also told me that for those that is thin normally will have bad breath and it is not advicable to drink Bali Water. It will make us go to toilet more often and we will lose more water. |

Gaining weight is more difficult than losing weight. And took more cost also. Hehe.
I would recommend normal intake of daily meal and protein supplement. |

Go and eat BaKuTeh often and always ask for the fatty pork. If you eat 3-4 times a week sure will put on maybe 5-10kg after 2-3 months, easily! |

Might as put urself in a coffin and nail it shut if u are so sure u're screwed. Granted, genes play a large role but there are plenty of things we can do to improve the quality of life. For example, having a family history of cancer should prompt u to get checked more often and perhaps u'll detect it in a nick of time. |

I'm not sure about this but do any of you guys noticed that whenever you sleep late, lets say, around 2AM or so for a period of 1 week, you tend to lose weight?
It sorta happens to myself and was wondering if it affects you guys too. |

This works the other way round for me, as I'm not trying to gain but lose weight.
Eat a lot food, and drink at least a glass of milk before you sleep. Eat first and then take bath. Break up your meals so you eat more frequent. Oh ya, you must have a balanced diet, eat more vegetables. |

i got a suggestion..........
Since GNC's weight gain stuff is made out of protien based products, maybe you can take in more protiens. One thing different about GNC is that it's genetically modified safe, which means it's likely to be more efficient. The highest calorie content is fats and alcohol. That's why there's a saying of beer belly, due to its high calorie content. And since fats dissolve well in alcohol, it's likely that this two deadly combination will make you gain weight. TAG's and cholesterol esters are the main reason one gain weight. This is due to the function of your body to transport these subscances from your intestine right to the muscles. And also, eat more stuff that needs oil recycling, eg. french fries . It'll produce more bad cholesterol in your body and make you fat. So do consume more of this bad stuff. I hope you calculated your BMI correctly. The normal BMI range is 19-25. If not, you'll end up getting heart attack, ps. Sleep makes you gain weight. Scientifically proven This post has been edited by legstrong: Feb 20 2007, 04:46 AM |

well, for serious weight gaining. instead of taking just whey protein.. you could try mass gainer, weight gainer or meal replacement.
they contain carbohydrate in it and added nutrients for the purpose of weight gaining or mass gaining. They are more suitable that u need the carbo for energy in weight lifting and produce a much better result than just proteins. anyway, u can also take it as meal replacement.. so that u can take more meal per day(6 meal) instead of just the 2/3 meal per day. personally i tried and it been producing expected results. |

Whack 1 whole chicken daily? If not whack 2 chicken breasts daily. 10 hard boiled eggs daily? Only the egg whites.
Of course don't go and deep fried the chicken lor, steam better. Add some ginger or salt to make it tasty. Can add other stuff up to your own preference, as long it is steam style. Try not to over add alot of stuff in, make it simple. Eat healthy and gained weight at the same time. Not like some peoples go and whack Mcdonalds, KFC. Eggs are cheap, so whack more eggs. Don't forget vegetables too. This post has been edited by zeist: Mar 1 2007, 10:22 PM |

Crabsticks. Made out of fish, they just put in crab flavour.
Fishball. More starch than fish. Real fishballs stink. Like keropok lekor Terengganu. |

Too much protein may cause reduced kidney function
Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) have found that high-protein diets may be associated with kidney function decline in women who already have mildly reduced kidney function. On further analysis, the risk was only significant for animal proteins, indicating that the source of protein may be an important factor. Researchers observed no association between high protein intake and decline in kidney function in women with normally functioning kidneys. These findings appear in the March 18 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine. The data suggested that the type of protein consumption was also an important variable. A change in GFR was only significant among women consuming large amounts of nondairy, animal proteins. "Recently, we have witnessed a growing popularity in low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets," said Knight, also of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. "As millions of Americans experiment with these diets and protein supplements, caregivers and researchers continue to question what the long-term health outcomes will be. While many questions still remain unanswered, we certainly have some evidence that among women with reduced kidney function, these diets may have adverse effects." It has previously been hypothesized that high-protein diets adversely affect the kidney because of the stress required to process proteins. Increased protein consumption leads to hyperfiltration - a state in which the kidney faces increased pressure in order to filter and remove waste from the body. Over the long term, hyperfiltration may lead to kidney damage. http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2003/0.../09-kidney.html |

Im prox 180 cm tall, weight around 50 kg (male). I think my genetic has something to do it coz my lil bro, eat 3-4 times more than me n still 'thin' but problem here, im not really good eater (well for eastern cuisine, i like western more), so u can say im really picky when come to food. I do eat vegetable, meat, but i hate fat (like bakuteh, i avoid those meat with fat, so i only eat the meat n leave the fat behind).
But lately, im controlin my diet even more (due to the fact i rarely exercise, so, i dun wan to have this 'tyre belly'). but i wanted to gain weight so i can look slightly not thin. Milk has disaster effect on me btw (my stomach cant except milk, which made me have diarrhea). Here roughly my diet, wat i eat, Breakfast - 4 pieces of breads n 2 cup of water (1 b4, 1 after breakfast, usually ate on working day, i skip on weekend/non-workin day), lunch - normal stuff, usually big portion of char koay thiow/prawn noodle/etc dinner - 3/4 - 1 bowl of rice (like the average portion size when u order chicken rice. no tea or supper (on weekend/non-workin day, i only have 2 meal a day, i usually merge my breakfast n lunch together). i dun work out, or rather dun have time, rather spend my time on something else (if ur askin, im typin this during work, if after work, its either im in break on doin my own stuff). so should i work out a lil, like 1 hour a day in a week with the same diet i have? maybe sit up (rather not push up, i had a bone fracture on my left hand [between wrist n elbow, both bones broken], broken twice at the same place during my recovery week, so my hand is rather weak. Doctor advice not to overstress my hand). anyway, bout protien drink or weigh-gain product, does it consist lactose (i think that wast coz me to be intorate with milk, i read most asian has this lactose intolerance, n me being 1 of em, i can eat cheese with no problem, but not sure wat will happen if i eat in large amount). btw, bout water, overdrinkin water kill. i read in a news b4, 1 woman has die in Radio Wii contest, one of the contestant die few hours after drank too much water. http://www.thetidenews.com/article.aspx?qr...umn=ODD%20WORLD (sry if this is repost, i read some of the previous post, but i might miss something) |

To gain weight try mixing with fat people.
You will unconsciously imitate their slow style of moving and doing things. Soon your metabolism rate will go down and you'll be as fat as them. To lose weight again, join the opposite crowd. |

QUOTE(unamed @ Mar 27 2007, 02:22 AM) I want to gain weight but not by gaining muscle. Now I look very thin. I tried eating alot but it doesn't seem to work. My metabolism is kinda high. Are those weight gaining supplements really effective? Do they have any feedback or cause long-term problems? ... And what do you think you'll be putting on with weight gain products? Air weight? Think about things logically before you post. |

I've been following this thread for a while coz I've been having this problem for oh, the past 15 years of my life
I've tried a LOT of things to gain weight, from eating until I can't eat anymore to eating specific kinds of foods (a lot), to taking weight gain... and nothing works. So in my quest to gain this elusive weight, I've joined a gym (as recommended in some of the replies). It's one of those near PWTC. To sidetrack a little, I took my sis and her daughter there coz there was this smart kids fair going on (yesterday) and we were stopped by this bunch of mascots that looked like germs. They took one look at me and my sis and gave us both an MC, with my 4-year-old niece looking on with glee. Apparently, we "adults" weren't fit enough. And Little Miss 4-year-old got a sticker for passing the fitness test. haha. sigh. Just goes to show that things were so much easier when we were kids. No worries about weight and all. I thought it was an interesting bit of publicity though, whatever they were doing (I think they were promoting Sustagen milk or something), coz it reminded me that sometimes you dont have to get complicated to stay fit... For kids anyways |

i've been underweight for 20 years, sucks to u!
anyway I SAW THAT TOO tsuki! giant stoner monsters ambling about. like wtf? they don't look like germs but anyway u've to get the whole story... first the germs kacau u, give u an MC (lol... love this). then the sustagen superhero will follow up and give u scan u and a cert ("u've failed the fighting fit test!" something to that effect). both direct u to fightingfit.com.my, where u can get more free samples. kinda a hardsell but i do like the fighting fit concept and how they brought it through. my kid bro wasn't around but i asked a bit, think they'll be in 1U next week. 14-15 april. so now. can any weight-gain company do something like this? maybe a fat-ass hamburger rolling down the street and a skinny-ass fella chasing after. |

I've tried periods where I ate several meals a day, I've tried eating 2 BIG meals a day for a month, I've tried eating carbs, I've tried eating meat, ice-cream, cheesy stuff... only thing I noticed is that some of that stuff isn't too good for my skin. Plus it doesn't exactly make me fit. And any weight I gain can be lost within a day of not sleeping (I kid you not And rubixmania, if there were a promotion where they had huge juicy burgers (free of course But thanks for the dates, I might just take my niece there |

Hello guys , seems that i m in the same gang lar. I'm 55kg at 174cm. my BMI is abit on the low side. Hoping to gain about 10kg in the follwing 6 months. Last time i used to think that i cannot gain fat becoz my metabolism rate is super high. but now i start to think otherwise. I believe that as long as there's enough calory intake a day , anyone can grow.
I have a friend of mine who was a 6" but with only 60kg. BUt after a year of bulking including daily nasi kandar ..... he's now about 80 kg plus. All this happened in just 1 year with proper training... so now i m taking him as an exm. NTH IS IMPPOSSIBLE:) |

Try healthy food like egg, milk, tuna, salmon, cheese, peanut butter and other source of protein. |

Those of you just joining in this thread asking how to gain weight... Did you not read through the thread to begin with? Cause the answer has been posted several times throughout the thread.
Eat right and workout, that's all there is to is. The right diet and right workout routine will get you to whatever your goal is, whether it be to lose or gain weight. There's a diet and workout thread pinned at the top of the health forum for those interested, there are also diet recommendations posted in this thread along with workout information and there are workout/diet journals in the journals subforum(which is new) where you can find details on other's workouts and diets and their progress which may help you determine what sort of diet and workout routine you want or help you in designing your own routine. |

I am a thin type of person, with noticable tummy (oh well not so serious actually but it exists since i was in primary school). i wonder how to get rid of the tummy, i was a scout, i'm active in sport, play football, taekwondo, taking penang-bridge 22km marathon with medal, attend fitness first. but duh it's still there after all these years. haiz.
currently my weight should be around 58KG, 171CM, 22 years old. my waist around 29" but i think that has nothing to do with tummy belly rite? now i want to gain weight, but is afraid of gaining fat on the tummy lol. any advice? |

QUOTE(MoNnY @ Apr 26 2007, 06:56 PM) i myself on a quest to gain weight.. haha Man you can safely drop that weight gain powder. Trust me you can make a weight gain shake yourself from whey protein and some other calorie-dense food, with quality much better than the weightgainer. And ya postWO shake with whey is mandatory if you are serious bout gaining mass. Whey, no casein protein.taking weight gain powders and heading to the gym... should i have a protein shake after workout even if i'm on the weight gain powder ? |
