Maxis Home Fibre started around June 2012. i'm among the early birds. We pay RM118/month for 10Mbps, and still paying at that rate.

so it is not even 3 year yet...

Performance not so good here since this week. I'm in Subang Jaya.

YouTube is just okay..
Streaming content from my server (in USA) is terrible, it was always good, unless when there are hiccups from Maxis's side, like the one I'm currently facing now. Not sure how long this will last.

Sincerely sick and tired of streamyx. My ping won't stop jumping from 25-37 all the way to 500-900 every 10 seconds during game, download speed is never consistent, and usually 10-15% of promised speed.

Really interested in the RM148 for 10MBps but I would like to know anyone here in the Bangsar/KL area uses it, and is it stable? And what's the average download speed.

And is it worth it jumping to the Maxis One plan from my current RM78/5GB plan for the rebate? Contract is over so I can pretty much shift to other plans.

Just change to Maxis, it's actually good provided if your installation is done professionally and you are there to ensure that the installation was done in a proper way. Just don't sign off the service acceptance agreement if you are not satisfy with the workmanship done to ensure that your service don't break down right after it is installed. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Damn it, my VOIP landline service is broken again with a "the device you are using is not registered" message playing when I try to make calls from it. This happens about once a month.

Anybody tried to move out to unifi after your contract ends? Will maxis counter you with better deal? My contract will end I think in April, so, thinking of moving back to Unifi.

Guys, i am a subscriber of maxis fiber at taman sri sinar segambut.
My fiber connection is down since friday night, 13/2 around 9pm until now!!

Made a few calls to support and they logged the case, no news or improvement till today. any of you experience the network down in your area?

If it is not network problem, could it be the TMnet modem itself?
the POWER, and LAN are both blinking. DSL is totally off. VOIP in red blinking as well.

Can we just report to Tmnet instead to get a replacement modem rather than wait and wait?

No, you can't report directly to tmnet, they don't have your account. You need to call up maxis and they'll make an appointment for tmnet technician to come over to check it out for you. From my past experience, when there is problem with the physical line, it will take few days to get resolved and it is easier to resolve problem when reporting it via twitter rather than by calling them.

Stupid maxis. Worst service ever. My internet was down since monday last week. And today the TM and maxis technicians were supposed to come to my place at 2pm. I waited from 2pm to 3pm and only maxis technician came. The TM guy didn't turn up at all. What the hell. vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

This is the peril of choosing Maxis Fibre over Unifi. When times are good, no problem. But when there's problem, susah!

I don't even understand why both Maxis and TM technicians need to be there. The Maxis guy was totally useless I tell you. Yes, it's true that Maxis rides on TM infrastructure, but can't they fix things on themselves? Instead of fully dependent on TM.

Hi Guys, I am currently applying Maxis home fibre on 9th Feb 2015, my ex-housemate own the Maxis Firbre before and now he move out, take away the TM gateway and Maxis router, the fibre port still there. So there is someone calling me on 11th Feb 2015 from number 03-2300 5075, and saying my house address not clear yet, so ask me to wait.

After no news from Maxis, and the number never possible to get through, I went to Maxis Centre on 15th February 2015, they said my address is clear now, and it is able to install the home fibre, they will open a case and follow up with me, but until today 17th February 2015, still no news.

During application, the guy told me to call 1800 82 4663, but there is no one pick up.

So what can I do? there is no any number I can call, all can't get through and no one pickup, this is the first time I felt Maxis so suck. Can I make any complain? I can't even sign up and create ID in Maxis forum.

Even the maxis live chat is ignoring me, this is so funny, haha...

Can someone in Klang valley do a ping test for me?

I'm looking for results to the ip: 88.150.184.34

Looking to switch out of streamyx due to abysmal gaming pings (it has jumped from an avg of 240ms, to 480ms this past month), but first I need to find out if it's actually better elsewhere.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I think you should hold out first. TM announced that they are undergoing submarine cable repair for another few weeks.

Thanks, this is the info I was looking for. The guys in the TIME broadband thread are looking to sign me up rather than help me get some info first.

I'm just down the road from Jaya One, so this is doubly useful for me. Thanks again rclxms.gif

I had the same problem since last Monday. They schedule the technician to come over today, just hope that it will be fixed. Made some noise with their customer service and instead of prorate, they are compensating me with additional mobile data to cover the usage during the 8 days downtime instead.

I saw there's promo where apply maxis fiber and get rebate off the astro for RM 25 per month. the downside is i had to change to IPTV, cant use the satellite. But my astro decoder is downstair and my fiber is upstair, i really dont wanted to pull another cable. I saw tp-link there's device powerline or something. any 1 using similar setup?

I'm done playing around with their equipment and using Cisco SPA122 to handle my VOIP. No problems so far.

Fully agree and sympathise with you.

I don't even understand why both Maxis and TM technicians need to be there. The Maxis guy was totally useless I tell you. Yes, it's true that Maxis rides on TM infrastructure, but can't they fix things on themselves? Instead of fully dependent on TM.

Strange. At the current moment, my download speed to paid sites is no more than 150KB/s. Anybody else facing this problem? Rebooting does the same thing.

You can try this TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT product which I had reviewed here.

You plug and connect the TL-PA4010 to your router (upstairs).
You plug and connect the TL-WPA4220 to your Astro decoder (downstairs) via Ethernet cable.

You can also try the TL-WPA4230P KIT which has integrated power sockets ensure no power outlet is going to waste.

yeah u have to pay rm20 per month but get rm30 called credit they said
but the telephone service is optional.. better save some bucks there.
but weirdly, my phone plan still used the older plan which is under rm1 since i reluctantly used it to called, but just receiving called..
so its not my fault anyways, and since it under rm1, i always pay that bills first then astro.. rclxm9.gif

It's best to avoid having astro IPTV with maxis ftth.

Just two days before chinese new year the dsl line is down, and I do not have internet access for 10 days!

Imagine if my astro is on maxis ftth, I would have to stare at the wall for 10 days, no internet, no astro.

And best to avoid having maxis ftth at all, unifi is the best.

When dsl line down, they would tell you they can't do anything, they have to wait for TM guy. I do not believe this. The truth is Maxis themselves has limited on site technician who is covering a big area. The problem lies with Maxis.

Is there a quota now? I just registered for 20 Mbps and the lady at the center said there's 200GB quota. After quota finishes, the speed will drop down to 1 Mbps.

You never see when installing Maxis FTTH that TM technician follow them also? TM owns the poles and ports and fibre, Maxis just piggy backs on the existing infrastructure.

Yeah, Maxis is just leasing the infrastructure from TM and hence they need to follow the schedule and appointment availabilities given by TM.

However, if you are in pure Maxis built, the service is excellent. If you dislike it so much, why not switch to UniFi? smile.gif

Maxis always use TM as excuses for late service.

The fact is one Maxis onsite technician is given a whole big area, having a long list of appointments daily.

Even if TM guy is free, Maxis cannot cope, saving cost with one technician covering so many places.

If you don't believe, next time when Maxis technician come over your place, peak at the long list he has on the paper.

This is not discussion about switching to unifi.

This is about Maxis lackluster service which could be improved further.

By the way, do not be one sided.

Have you heard the story of Maxis onsite technician threaten to disconnect customer internet connection for 3 weeks? Is that acceptable by any standard? That is the kind of onsite Maxis technician you're served with, incompetence and arrogance.

It's ok for you to be a fanboy. This does not mean we cannot criticized Maxis, and when we tell our true personal experience, you're quick to ask to switch ISP.

After experiencing maxis ftth, if I can turn back time, I would choose unifi. But since now I am with maxis, I'll stick with it for the time being, I'll change when I decided enough is enough. So I believe it's my right to tell someone who is deciding between maxis and unifi to go for the later. Please give a little respect, TQ.

I had my share of bad experience with TM back with Streamyx and early UniFi days.

Not being a fan boy, but it's just sad that you aren't living in Maxis built area laugh.gif
Besides, as a consumer; you do have choice to choose other alternatives. Being said that, if you ever used P1; you'll go crazy. It is a truly horror ride.

Heard of you pay what you get? cool2.gif

TM service quality has improved much after 2008, but I am stuck with Maxis for the time being since there is no UniFi here.

I've been with streamyx before. I've been early adopter on Maxis FTTH as well, remember the browsing was slower than streamyx. So the maxis Thomson router engineer came over, I patiently showing him what the problem with, replicating the issue so he can find a way to solve it. Wasting many hours that is not supposed my work.

It's the overall service of maxis that badly need improvement. Leaving the connection down for 10 days is not acceptable at all. And relying on incompetent onsite technician make it worst.

Appreciate your help thus far, let's put off the fire.

I am sure you agreed with me there are lots of room for improvement with maxis service.

You get what you pay for? Not very sure when it comes to internet in Malaysia. Been to Cambodia? Been there and found the report that their average speed is faster than Malaysia is true.

regarding p1, i'm 1 of the disgruntled user. been on p1 fiber for rm99 for 2 year.... previously i'm verbally agreed that the price stay on rm99 even contract expired.. but once my contract expired, they inform that will charge me rm149 (normal price). i'm tempted to change to maxis as i noe 148 for 10mbps n get rm25 rebate for astro.. but in the end i did not, cos i wish to retain my number n i have to use astro iptv... until last month... p1 inform me that they are discontinuing the fiber service n since they merge wit TM... it will convert my plan to RM 199 5mbps plan... without asking my permission. thus i straight cancel it and they said would require to wait for a month to take effect. and now, still surveying for the replacement of the ISP...

REDtone instant office is for incoming and outgoing fax and a bonus free 015 SIP voice line..

The is an on going promo for 10mbps maxis fibre @ RM128 per month. The condition is you must be a Maxis mobile One Plan customer. You can port in to Maxis mobile from other telco too.

No problem.

Once you have the fibre line, you don't want to waste money on Astro already. Save the Astro money for Apple TV, Roku3, Android TV box and stream for free. biggrin.gif

good choice, save yourself the heartache of having to stare at the wall, and dealing with incompetent maxis technician and customer service.

maxis ftth + astro iptv, a recipe for disaster!

Bro if this is the case I suggest u to avoid Maxis. Cuz if the internet is down your Astro IPTV will be down as well. So more nagging session for u sweat.gif

Unifi although a bit more expensive will save u the troubles

Hi guys, I have a few questions.

I stay in BU12 and apparently it's a Maxis-only area and there's no Unifi. I'm wondering if anyone staying in BU11 or BU12 can tell me if the connection's good in our area?

Also for the package, can I skip Astro and just get the fiber? Will it be more than RM148 if I just get fiber 10mbps and not take Astro? Was told by my friend that maybe Maxis will charge more if I don't take their Astro iptv package.

I'm really frustrated with the lack of Internet here and the most annoying part is my phone seem to have trouble with Maxis' signal here.

Normal price RM 148 for the 10M fiber internet.Taking internet only without the iptv will not get charged more.

Hi all, 10 Mbps user here at Shah Alam. Changed from 4mbps Streamyx after serious performance degradation.

So far so good. Youtube 1080p streaming smoothly consistently. The stock Technicolor router does time out once in a while, so most probably will get another router to replace it.

Not a gamer so not really sure much about latencies. Seems its the common complaint about Maxis Fibre.

I did some traceroute on why the AUS ping is so terrible, and apparently its going through JP & HK before connection to AUS.. no wonder Im getting up to 600 ping..
My friends using Unifi connect directly to AUS..

Anyone know to whom I can complain about this terrible routing?

If you can get maxshit cto, the famous guy with stupid youtube video, maybe he will listen to you.

If you talk to maxshit customer service, don't waste time. They are not maxshit staffs actually, the whole maxshit ftth is outsourced to outsider, i.e. contractor, even the maxshit onsite technician is again outsourced to another party. So do you think they care?

You need to thank god if your maxshit internet connection is not down! So forget about solving the latency.

I am signing up for Maxis fibre the last few days, but for some stupid reason my house is listed in a neighbouring Taman instead of the correct one. Oddly enough my neighbours are all listed correctly.

What do I do?

10Mbps @ RM128 (with Maxis ONE plan mobile)

I am curious if this is listed on the website? Can't seem to find it anyway. Wondering if the RM128 will last for as long a I subscribe to Maxis One?

Best you give a call to maxis to inquire about the length of this promo if you are subcribed to maxis one

I'm really frustrated with the lack of Internet here and the most annoying part is my phone seem to have trouble with Maxis' signal here.

Maxis routing is horrible!

While playing dota2,
My friends unifi ping to australia is around 230ms
My Maxis fibre ping to australia is around 500ms

Is there anything i can do?

You should probably switch to public IP if you haven't. I am getting around 290ms

Somehow, they have quite bad connection to Twitch. No idea why. If you use a Singapore VPN, then you'll have no issues with Maxis actually. sweat.gif

I'm still confused this... Some people said it's a myth...
Public or private ip will not improve ur speed...
Public is to allow external access ur internal
ie : u want access ur cctv from hp

so i've fed up with this Unifi always throttling my speed to most of the china websites like tencent weibo, sina weibo, and tieba, acfun and sogou during weekends

they worked perfectly normal during weekdays but the speed is even slower than my maxis 4g on my phone during weekends

since i have no problem going into these websites with my maxis 4g, i assume its the same with their home fibre ?

anyone can give some feedback about speeds connecting to china servers and websites ? before i switch my home fibre to maxis from unifi, if its the same as unifi, then i will find other althernatives

Thanks for the reply. Good to know BU12 is good. Though I have another question

Somehow, the Maxis staff told my owner that they need to write a letter to TM to get approval to use their infrastructure for us to get the service. And apparently there's a chance (owner said high chance) our application will be rejected by TM, and hence Maxis can't give us fiber. Is there such a thing? That sounds stupid and ridiculous

So I got an update from my house owner. Maxis said they ran out of ports for BU12, so we cannot apply for Fiber. Went to TM, TM ask us to ask Maxis fix more ports.

This is ridiculous. No unifi, Maxis not enough ports. Such much bullshit.

I have no idea how to proceed anymore.

should be bridged. then in switch page, tag VLAN822 to the WAN port and a specific LAN port.

Hi guys,

Any idea on how to increase the wifi strength of the Technicolor router?

It seems like the wifi is very weak and changing the channel does not help either....

Possible to connect another wireless router and use that wireless instead?

Thanks

No, BU12 is Maxis infrastructure. So you can only apply for Maxis fixed services (fixed line phone, broadband, etc.)

Only areas under TM infrastructure (most areas in fact) with HSBB infrastructure installed can choose TM UniFi & Maxis Fiber.

So after I lodged a complaint on the forum, I received a forum reply in less than 45 minutes. Then 2 days later I received a call telling me there's available port in my area and I can register by just giving my case number.

Makes me wonder if it was the branch my owner went to that was lazy or something.

any brodcaster here using xpslit or OBS ?

did you have any problem with your broadcast? like your maximum bitrate sent to rmtp url is only 1024Kbps ,

speedtest all okay 10Mbps upload . and ping to the rmtp server okay .

the upload speed to rmtp url like rtmp://live-hkg.twitch.tv/app maximum is 1024Kbps/1Mbps

but at 2am onward until 6am everything is fine ...

10 down / 5 up .... i call them then send them a few speed test ... then they decide to sent their staff to my home ... they do some cabling outside after that my line is fixed 10up/10down

Availability for my area shows only a handful of units in my condo complex. Is this likely to be a flaw in the availability map, or would maxis really only service 50 units out like 500 in a complex?

If someone can check, please PM me and I'll send you my address to look up.

* High by comparison to what I used to recieve with Streamyx (was about 220ms, then raised to ~300ms around xmas last year just before I cut off the service and moved).

Hi, I am currently the user of Unifi 20mb and thinking to upgrade to Maxis 30mb. I am staying in Kajang and may I know how is the quality of their line? Same as Unifi?

I am using Asus N66 and Netgear R8000, these two support Maxis Broadband?

Do they have quota from torrent? I am a heavy downloader.

Thanks.

Bro,
call 1800824663 to their Maxis FTTH hotline ,shouldn't be a problem to get a free replacement router, unless human made or water damage.

After few days of findings thru Maxis staff I can now conclude that once the Maxis router NG, what u can do is either cancel ur current line & reapply new line or get an after market router which u lost ur VOIP.

This is what I feel from Maxis: "Pls reapply new line or GTFO to settle ur own shyt."

Totally speechless to Maxis service shakehead.gif doh.gif notworthy.gif yawn.gif

The Technicolor TG782n v3 can connect to 3G dongle? I see that it is stated in box that it can connect to usb 3g dongle. If yes, how to configure it?

Any updates on maxis having a new lower price package for higher speeds? Similar to what unifi is offering now.

Hi..

Noos, there are a few options on how you can get the VOIP to work.

1) Use a softphone (an VOIP software installed on your iOS or Android
2) A hardware connected to your router ie http://www.obihai.com/matrix
3) Use existing Thompson router for VOIP only & another router for surfing, etc.

You mean 3G dongle compatible list or printer compatible list?
I not too sure about 3G dongle compatible list , but it should works as you just need to fill up details that required in router under mInternet.
For printer , you need to do some setup. You can download PDF file from Maxis website.I copy the URL for you as below.

I mean both... coz I see other router with the same functionality, they have a compatibility list. So I guess not all dongle/printer will be supported.

"Concentrator not reachable" for high rise, not able to connect, currently using mobile internet.

This happened after TM technician came to my condo riser room today, seen some wires/cables on the floor. They came to fix/install someone else internet, not mine internet connection.

May I know what error is this? The DSL light is up though. Is it because they change my port?

The last two times TM technician came to the riser room, my internet is down with DSL light off.

This cannot be going on and on. I can see all other unifi connections have no problem, except mine, using Maxis FTTH.

Any solution to prevent TM technician damaging my internet connection everytime they come to visit the riser room?

Any Maxis Home Fibre user here experienced upgrading from the 10Mbps to a higher speed package?

Did mine at KL Sentral about a week ago, and they informed me two days back that it has been registered in the system, but the 'provisioning team' has not updated the system. Got a call from Maxis to inform that the provisioning has been done yesterday, but after multiple restarts of the modem and router (modem power cycle), speed test still shows 10Mbps download speed.

Anyone with similar experience? Is the upgrade just a few clicks on Maxis's end? Do they need to send anyone or their Unifi partner to come and adjust anything on site?

Thanks in advance.

Just finished installation of Maxis Fibre, they finished it in less than 1hour, so very fast n efficient the technicians. thumbup.gif

Just want to ask, the VoIP phone credit or whatever its called, how is the RM30 credit calculated? I know its free to other Maxis fixed lines but what about other like normal Telekom house phones? Grandma is not tech-savvy and she prefers to use the phone so just want to know about the rates Maxis charges.

I dunno what are the rates for local calls, calls to mobile or IDD calls. But I just make calls to wherever and whoever and the amount is deducted from the RM30. Which means that your grandma can make calls just like a normal phone and don't worry about paying the bill, unless she makes a lot of overseas calls ... enough to exceed RM30 credit

Guys ... what's your configuration if you use other router and only use Thomson for VoIP?

TM GPON > Thomson (for VoIP) > connect using LAN > Other router for Wireless

or TM GPON > Other router with login capabilities to Maxis (Wifi) > connect using LAN to > Thomson WAN port for VoIP

I've bought an Asus RT-AC68U

Sorry if this has been previously covered... I've been looking at the maxis thread for the best part of 45 mins but still unable to find out.

Guys, need your help on some questions regarding Maxis fibre.
I'm using Streamyx 4Mbps now and thinking of whether to upgrade to Maxis 30Mbps or UniFi 20Mbps.
I want to access my CCTV from outside so I read and understand on the first page that Maxis is using private IP and we need to manually request Maxis to change to public IP but don't understand why we need to subscribe to DDNS service? Isn't our router can keep tracking the public/dynamic IP itself?
If subscribing to DDNS service is the only way to handle/track the public/dynamic IP, howmuch is the subscription fee per year?
Thank you.

The problem is, the IP is dynamic. So every time you restart the modem, the IP will change. When it is changed, you won't know the IP address unless you check it from the internal network.

Anyway, there are free many DDNS services such as no-ip. So you don't really to subscribe to paid services.

The 100Mbps package does not make much sense. Yes, you get 100Mbps, but in practice, that's 10MBps. That's LAN speed (albeit the lower end). Within the minute, you would have burned through 600MB. Within the hour, 3.6GB of your quote would be gone. By tomorrow, bye bye quota.

Of course, that's if you max out your connection 24/7. But I fail to see the current use case otherwise. I routinely use up over 150GB of bandwidth every month, and that's on a 10Mbps line. Which Time will give for less than RM179. And you will get 50Mbps line speed for an hour a day, roughly, which means you will have the high speed when you need it.

Unless you're doing cloud backup, in which case being able to pump 10MBps into your service provider (assuming that your backup service can handle the speed) is a good idea... but then, BOOM! 10% into your 1TB backup, it slows down all the way. Better if you used the 20Mbps line instead. Same price, increased throughput over time.

*
yes 100Mbps i think they are specially designed for those who is mature adult. dont feel offended and dont get me wrong. i dont know what word suits more than 'mature'. 'Mature' i meant here is they are very busy at work, torrent/download are not their thing, light usage on facebook/youtube video, maybe used for tele-conference, occasionally share files on cloud with instant speed.

Overall I think the maxis router is fine, just unstable wireless connection.

I try not to get another router, unless the new router can support VOIP.

hello all.

Is it true that i've read that maxis fibre + astro iptv is not compatible with the asus ac68u router? I have now set up my maxis fibre as follows:

TM gateway --> ac68u WAN port (for wifi and LAN) --> thomson router (for VOIP)

How to i got about setting up astro at my home and still use the ac68u for routing purposes?

Hi all,
anyone can please recommend router for maxis home fibre, prefer with ready to use firmware, and 802.11ac.

Currently use TP-Link 1043ND with OpenWRT; performance is rock solid, but i think it is going to give way due to ageing, almost 5 years old.
thanks is advance

Mine on 1043nd v1.0 and yeah it's rock solid but slowing down after upgraded to Barrier Breaker. Then I upgraded to 1043nd v2.1, with OpenWrt, yeap it is still solid for more than 6 mnths. Still prefer 2.4GHz band since it can penetrate thicker wall due to double storey house and thick wall.

Just got my Maxis Fiber.

Wanna ask if it's normal for down to be 6Mbps and up 0.5Mbps? hmm.gif

OK now. It was the WiFi channel issue.

Changed to 7 and it's fine atm.

Satisfied thus far.

guys, i just switched from unifi (5mbps) to maxis (10mbps) today..
starting around 8pm i am getting very slow internet (browsing/torrent), http://www.speedtest.net tells me my ping is a whooping 51ms and download average around 5mbps and upload 8mbps. is this normal for maxis? i never had such low ping on unifi all these years before. is there a config on my maxis modem that i can perform? or call maxis perhaps? like your thoughts on this. thanks!

Hi sifus,

I am curious about something

When I go to "setup my maxis gateway" in the modem settings,

I see Home HSI (GPON) + Voip,
SME Static HSI
SME Dynamic HSI

What are they? Is it to change my IP to a public IP? or change IP to a static or dynamic one?

From the link below, it says supposedly can use SME instead of HOMe HSI. But what's the difference?

Should get own custom router as default router have some issues with UPnP on games like Warframe.

Otherwise, try using DMZ function to your gaming machine. It should work provided you are using public IP from Maxis.

Yeah warframe has strict NAT issue with Maxis but I've generally been able to connect to my friends in the US.

Good idea. I am not sure if I tried DMZ after changing to public ip.

Been sometime and didn't realise that this thread shifted from https://forum.lowyat.net/BroadbandUser-2-User

Anyway, surprised that there was no mention on the latest 100Mbps promo by Maxis. Supposedly unlimited data usage. I'm currently on their 20Mbps package and my 2 years contract finish since last December already. Had thoughts to switch to Unifi's new package until I saw this new promo from Maxis.

Wondering if you can just upgrade or do I have to reapply?

It's RM 330 for MaxisOne Plan members and RM 398 for non members. Not inclusive of GST though.

Hi new user here. Just changed over from Unifi 5mb to maxis 20mb.

I've got some questions to ask:

1. Are you supposed to get a voip phone from the installer? The installer was telling me that maxis are too cheap to provide the phone. However on the installation form that a checkbox for a phone so I'm concerned that the installer might have pulled a fast one. I only realised that when I noticed that my dect phone from unifi still uses telephone cables rather than lan cables.

2. Managed to set up the service on my asus RTN15U router which has built in settings for maxis fiber. The only thing I have not been able to test has been the VOIP phone which is supposed to be enable on lan port 3.

3. Discovered that some websites (not saying which ones) are blocked and changing DNS setting on the router to the google DNS ones does not work. These websites are accessible on unifi after changing router DNS settings. I have access to VPN services but would like to know if there is an easier way of assessing 'prohibited' websites.

4. Because of 3 above, I called up maxis immediately and change my IP to a public IP. That was fast and relatively painless but it didn't solve my website filtering issue.

5. Main reason i upgraded was because on Netflix. Streaming now is awesome and a big improvement on vanilla 5mb unifi.

*
For question no 1, I have been asked to pay extra Rm90 for phone but I refused..then I call serv center for this issue, they said there is no such Rm90 thing and then the technician call me back and ask me when I can pay him, I said I have call Service center earlier, they said no need to pay. He just keep quiet, after while he said he sorry and hope I will not report to Maxis bout this as he might get fired. Such a pig. vmad.gif

Thanks for the info. However I just called up and they said they don't provide a phone so looks like I need to hunt down a new phone before I can terminate my tmnet accounts.

Any links to these plan?

To terminate Unifi acct, all you have to return is the BTU. They wont ask for the router, phone and settop box(hypptv). Terminated my unifi acct earlier this year due to new place no coverage.

Yes... the newest package (with free voice call) doesn't come with the DECT phone.

From their FAQ:
QUOTE
Is there a phone provided with the Home Voice service?

No phones are provided with this service. You may purchase your preferred phone or re-use any existing DECT phone that you may already have.
Even though the DECT phone is using the normal cable, it can still connect to the LAN port. But the phone is using the dedicated phone port.

Hi, anyone know how to configure draytek for voip in Thompson to work?
The configuration now is bridge mode in thompson to get voip and let Draytek to connect
Alcatel Lucent > Thompson > phone & Draytek

However, I found instability in the connection where some times it will lost connection for around 1 minute and get back to work again.
I do not know the instability is caused by the thompson or the problem from ISP. I want to try configure it as follow
Alcatel Lucent > draytek > Thompson > phone
I already configure the vlan as follow for the internet which is working
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Then I configure the Multi VLAN for the WAN
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I connect Draytek LAN port 2 to Thompson WAN port but the voip of the thompson is not working. I go into it's web interface, I see that it's ip address under voice is 127.0.0.1, it cant get ip address from isp.

Refer to https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=53813946 , seems it can be done in mikrotik. but how about draytek?

I'm using Draytek 2912n, anyone can access the demo web interface from http://eu.draytek.com:12912/

This is me being a noob and not pressing the apply button on my router and thinking I had.  Google dns settings successfully applied.
*
So now I know that even after using my Asus router, I still have to connect the Technicolor router to LAN3 in order to use VOIP service. This is a waste of electricity. Is there any way I can totally get rid of it? perhaps with an aftermarket voip phone that just connects to the LAN port?

I am existing Maxis FTTH who is an early bird under the rm118 promotion.

This July it'll be the 3rd year I am with the service.

My question is, do I have to be a Maxis mobile phone user to continue enjoying this rm118 privilege?

The reason for asking is I am interested with Celcom Fibre 38 and would like to convert my existing Maxis mobile phone to Celcom.

The Celcom promotion ended 16 July so I need to act fast.

hope someone can enlighten me, thank you.

its not Celcom Fibre.. it just celcom first basic rm38
i think you can mnp to celcom cuz your phone plan does not tied in with the fibre promotion at that time.

Anybody knows if Maxis will outdo the promo given by Unifi? My contract has expired two months ago and since Unifi is introducing the 30 & 50Mbps option, I might want to make a switch back to Unifi, unless if Maxis introduces better package.

I am using Asus N66 and Netgear R8000, these two support Maxis Broadband?

Do they have quota from torrent? I am a heavy downloader.

Thanks.

Hi peeps, I'm a Maxis Fibre Home user with the given router Thomson TG784n. Recently I tried to install a NAS to the router but failed, it just couldn't detect the NAS (WD MyCloud EX series). I had tried this NAS with office network and it works fine.

I wonder do I need to alter some setting on the Thomson router? Or on the Windows 7? Somehow it works fine with default setting on the office network.

Any idea? unsure.gif

Not bad la so far. Monthly I had to restart the modem and router because astro channel sometimes gone cuckoo - unable to display programmes list / tv guide.

Overall all good. No complain so far la.

He took only 30mins or less to setup the whole thing. this depends on how fast the TM people come to sign the release form for you.

it depends on your building management policy IMO. if the allow you to lay the fiber up to your unit, it would not be a problem, you may need to consider the cost for fiber cable as well.

Hi.
I'm going to move out next month and want to relocate my Maxis Home Fiber/Astro Iptv to my new place. But unfortunately the operator I called said the new place didn't cover under their coverage. I have to terminate the account and pay the penalties for the remaining 15-months. sad.gif Is there any other way for me without pay such hefty amount?

Dude,

If your new place is not covered under the fiber coverage, then you may terminate your contract without any penalty fees.

I am having a trouble with Maxis Fibre VOIP using softphone, such as Zoiper. In the past, I followed this maxis guide and got connected easily, but now keep getting error Rogue(677).

How can I solve it?

Can anyone try and give me some feedback on whether it happens to me only?

Thanks for anyone's help.

Hi guys,

I'm not quite sure to set this up but am currently using the original maxis wireless router. Wireless connection isn't stable so I'm wondering if a better one would help.

Can give some recommendation on a good router? How do I set up so that it will work with the maxis modem?

So far I found two routers that ppl are recommending

1. Asus RT-N14UHP
2. TP-Link

I'm interested in the TP-LINK model since there was a review https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3562582

Furthermore the price isn't too expensive.

Also, I dont remember my Maxis password =.=" I didnt change it before....do I need to call them up or is it somewhere behind the router / modem?

They also throttled Apple App Store download at night. Updating 80Mb app takes 30 minutes on a 30Mbps line. Really absurd.

Hey I got a question, does anyone experience high ping from SG server? Especially games like LoL & World of Tanks test server? Because i notice if I play games which server are NOT based in Sg, i'll get below <90ms ping whereas if the server is located in SG i'll get a ping not less than 150ms. So anyone experiencing same thing as me?

Also is the Technicolour router a good router? My thompson unit died due to lightning and maxis replace the unit with the technicolour unit. Sometimes when surfing the net, i notice it'll reboot the wireless thingy. I dont know how to explain but its like my phone, laptop, ipad cant detect the router wireless network signal. Have to wait about 1-2 mins then only it'll come back up online. Then comes the phone part also. Sometimes i call my house, the phone somehow jams or something. It just wont ring. Any help haha :crying:

Hi jonathan82,

Please be advised that the technician will need to test your line if it does support your connection upgrade. If there is a need for upgrading to the physical wires, you will be notified.

Thank you

Thanks for your reply. Will there be any charges if I apply Maxis Fibre 20/30 Mbps but later I cancel the application when technician found out that they will need to drill my wall to upgrade wires?

Hi jonathan82,

Basic installation will be no charges and as mentioned earlier if there is no issue in your wiring there is no need to drill your wall. Please be advised that issues with the wiring also is very rare. Not impossible but rare occasion.

Dear Maxis,
It looks like my question did not clearly stated my concern or I don't understand your answer or there is no definative answer to my question?
My question is if I apply for Maxis Fibre 20Mbps then when Maxis technicians come to my house and determine that my house will only require standard installation but need some drilling, I rejected the drilling process and cancel the request, will there be any charges for me to pay?

Thank you.

Yes, same over here!

Something very wrong these few days.

My speedtest is 10mbps as well, so it is true that internet service provider is supplying false speed to speedtest website/apps such ookla speedtest.

What about unifi at this moment? Anyone able to get info on this?

If unifi slow as well, then not maxis fault, it is down to the line provided by TM. If only maxis slow, then something very wrong with maxis server.

hi friends,

i changed the dialing to hg655a and connect my custom router in dynamic mode.

as for the thomson tg784, there is no settings even in admin mode to change WAN type. it is always fixed as PPPOE.
the voip works, just wondering if i can change that too and make it online.

Please support me in complaining to maxis here

https://forum.maxis.com.my/forum_topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6740

Btw for those using this router, your only choice is to to configure custom dns on ipv6! Not ipv4

Just use the following open dns ipv6

http://www.opendns.com/ipv6/[/quote]

hi can anyone guide me how to do the 'open dns ipv6' ?

so far i have registered but not sure where to go from there.

Thanks a bunch!

hey guys, i'm using maxis home fibre internet

anyone have intermittent down time with maxis? i'm talking short period of disconnect especially the past few months. basically what i mean is that i can stay connected ALL the time. if like i'm playing a 60 min online video game or watching a movie online, i'll dc a few times, or the movie will not buffer at all a few times for like 30sec - 1 minute.

this is slightly frustrating

Im planning on signing up for maxis fibre 10mbps. How are the speeds in shah alam.

And how is the installation. It says free. but when you read through terms and conditions it says the cost can go up to rm500 if they need to do additional stuff. So what does the free installation cover?

Thank you in advance.

I tempted to subscribe to their 20mbps package but i'm scared if it's gonna lag during gaming, people complain about gaming issue a lot from maxis. i play games a lot and i dont want any sudden disconnection. I'd subscribe for unifi if I can but they dont cover my area as Maxis already bought that place and they blocked TM. I live in Paya Jaras Sungai Buloh area I wonder if the line is good there? Anyone can light me up?

Hi,

I'm facing the same problem. I frequently get disconnected when i'm playing online games and when streaming movies. Never had this problem when i was using Unifi. Thinking of changing my line back to Unifi soon.

on good days im getting 40ms but .... since i was using it already more than 2 months ... speed degrades by day ....

im still fustrated with the speed...sigh ... any one here gets the same problem i get?

Is there any third party router that can handle maxis fibre + astro iptv? Voip is not important for me. I am a current astro iptv + maxis Fibre 10 mbps user. My Technicolor router's signal drops off almost 2 hrs every day. Restart the router and modem also no use. Still can't connect to the WiFi network.

Hi there,

Did anyone manage to request a reduction on the fee for 10Mbps from RM168 to RM148?

I signed up maxis home fibre more than 2 years ago and I am paying RM168 per month for 10Mbps, I just checked out at maxis' website and now 10Mbps is at RM148.

Wonder if I can request for a fee reduction or should I just cancel or re-signup? Else might want to switch to other ISP for lower cost

Thank you.

hey guys, i'm using maxis home fibre internet

anyone have intermittent down time with maxis? i'm talking short period of disconnect especially the past few months. basically what i mean is that i can stay connected ALL the time. if like i'm playing a 60 min online video game or watching a movie online, i'll dc a few times, or the movie will not buffer at all a few times for like 30sec - 1 minute.

this is slightly frustrating

I do have same problem and lodge complain to Maxis on Monday. This is my second time complain lodged. Heard this is not new and common issue due to the router. My neighbours that using Maxis Fiber also have same issue when I ask them but those using Unifi never experience DC.

yea, that's why our issue will not be taken up by the 'maxis' representative in lowyat

it's a common problem in maxis

There is 2 options to tackle this issue,

1st - change the router own self to third party brand
2nd - change to Unifi

But main issue is the contract. If terminate within contract, have to pay RM 500 despite facing the router issue. cry.gif

Hi petlu28,

Allow us to clarify on our FUP policy implemented for the home fibre internet services. Our FUP policy only will affect the speed wherein it will be throttled to 500kbps for P2P data transaction during peak hours (8pm - 2am). Hence, for other data transactions (except P2P data transaction), FUP policy does not apply.

Thank you

IccyAsd blacktubi Kindly report how's your internet. It seems OK now cos I no longer dc in my game.

edit: still dc but not as frequent as 30 seconds once.

edit 2: maxis staff just called. said connection should be ok now. if experience any dc within an hour or two, we were advised to give them a call. haven't experienced any disconnection on my side. on high ping (250++ms on Dragon Nest)

I got a friend working in maxis and he said that its because stupid maxis only rents XX amount of fibre lines form TMNET but go and keep signing up new customers.

They have way more home fibre customers than the amount of lines they have end up so damn congested and during peak hours, its totally game over.

Either you get disconnect cause another customer connect to that port or everything lags like shit...

Maxis also routes all our traffic through their stupid servers for tracking / monitoring / recording before going to TMNET, so there is extra traffic congestion there for no reason

Hi Maxis, I'm also still having bad latency to Singapore Steam Servers, especially for Dota 2. Even if the ping is good, it is very unstable.

Also, my upload speeds have been terrible:

Hi Maxis,

The bad latency is very apparent in online games, whereas I noticed the extremely slow upload speed when I was uploading a video on YouTube. A 150mb video took me >2 hours, which is ridiculous for what I'm currently paying for.

got a feeling that maxis is coming out with new maxis home fibre plan.... their 100Mb removed from their page already....
lets see what maxis is doing... hopefully giving us 50 Mbits at half the price what TM is offering....

The 100Mbps is still there, now got special link at front of page laugh.gif

Of course, almost no locations have it sweat.gif

Yeap. I am. Everything cannot load. Including LYN forum.

I am, however, still able to download something at max speed. Anyway, yeah, it's very bad, but no disconnection. I wanted to come on to the forum to ask, and it seems I'm not the only one. You are in Subang/PJ/Damansara area?

Same issue as 2 weeks ago.

My packet loss is getting worse, from 30% now 50%. I'm pretty pissed off 2 weeks ago, but because today I'm gonna watch movie tonight, I won't be bothered - but I have business to run as well. So I expect it to be stabilised again the next morning, hopefully.

If you guys didn't know, ISPs perform network upgrade/maintenance during window time from 0000 hours to 0600 hours because that's the least impacted service affecting for customers.

Be it UniFi, Maxis or Ohana, it's all the same. If you are facing issue past midnight, it's probably work is being done somewhere to upgrade/fix issues. smile.gif

Failed to download programs using Astro OD. Please help!!

I moved to a new house (condo) which using centralized dish for Astro. Unfortunately, I can't receive some channels. Then I called Astro to switch to IPTV since I'm using Maxis 10Mbps. The soonest they can come and configure is 12-dec. Crazy! Now Astro OD oso crazy, when reach 30%, it failed. Yet very slow. Previously using streamyx 4Mbps to download programs from Astro was faster.

Hi 1234kingbling,

There is no quota implemented now hence no usage tracking.

Thank you smile.gif

the irony is that you will eventually accumulate more than a month's worth of free internet through reinbursement due to filing complaints and downtime.

welcome to Maxis btw.

Does anyone have any luck recently configuring a third party Wireless Router for their Maxis FTTH that includes VoIP?

Had been trying for a while now with no luck getting VoIP to work properly.

My setup:
- GPon = HG8240W
- Wireless Router = TP-Link TL-WR841HP v1 running on firmware Build 140214
- VoIP = Standard Thomson router

Internet had been working perfect, the only "problem" I have is where I can't seem to get VoIP to work every time I try. Thomson WAN port is plugged into LAN4 of the TP-Link which had been VLAN tagged 821. LAN2 from HG8240W is plugged into WAN port of TP-Link. I thought that if a port is set as IPTV or VOIP, it will be bridged with WAN port for the TP-Link, but it just doesn't seem to be the case here.

VoIP only works when LAN2 from HG8240W is directly plugged into it, which defeats the purpose of me wanting to run a third party router.

The only thing I haven't tried is to connect a small 5-port switch between the HG8240W and the 2 routers so that the LAN2 from HG8240W gets split between the Thomson and TP-Link but that's really a wiring mess.
