i hv been using 2years+

the router for the voip is really not reliable
u need to reset it once every 2/3days

or set the voip to your mobile... blush.gif

I'm done playing around with their equipment and using Cisco SPA122 to handle my VOIP. No problems so far.

Stupid maxis. Worst service ever. My internet was down since monday last week. And today the TM and maxis technicians were supposed to come to my place at 2pm. I waited from 2pm to 3pm and only maxis technician came. The TM guy didn't turn up at all. What the hell.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

This is the peril of choosing Maxis Fibre over Unifi. When times are good, no problem. But when there's problem, susah!

Fully agree and sympathise with you.

I don't even understand why both Maxis and TM technicians need to be there. The Maxis guy was totally useless I tell you. Yes, it's true that Maxis rides on TM infrastructure, but can't they fix things on themselves? Instead of fully dependent on TM.

Malaysian mentality problem. They will not use a single ounce of brain when they know they don't get paid extra especially when they are aware somebody else ™ can do the hard work and take of the problem.

maxis is now unblock their torrent from 8pm to 2am... ?
coz always got full speed for past 2 days although aldy 9pm...
no VPN used...

Strange. At the current moment, my download speed to paid sites is no more than 150KB/s. Anybody else facing this problem? Rebooting does the same thing.

Been sometime and didn't realise that this thread shifted from https://forum.lowyat.net/BroadbandUser-2-User

Anyway, surprised that there was no mention on the latest 100Mbps promo by Maxis. Supposedly unlimited data usage. I'm currently on their 20Mbps package and my 2 years contract finish since last December already. Had thoughts to switch to Unifi's new package until I saw this new promo from Maxis.

Wondering if you can just upgrade or do I have to reapply?

It's RM 330 for MaxisOne Plan members and RM 398 for non members. Not inclusive of GST though.

Hi Just to share. Anyone wanting to dial maxis fiber home with a custom router like TPLink etc but still need to maintain telephone line (VOIP) can do this :

1) Set maxis Thompson Gateway to Bridge Mode + Voip
2) Program your custom router to Pppoe and key in your maxis fiber username password.
3) Connect both WAN ports of Custom Router and Maxis Thompson router to a 5port network switch.
4) Connect the switch to the BTU Lan 2(Huawei or Alcatel)

This way, your custom router will dial the Internet connection and all port forwarding and other management is done with it.

Maxis Thompson router will just function as sip gateway for your telephone line to work.

Try it and report here if it works.

P/s: There are ways to modify BTU by adjusting vlan tagging but I think it only works for Huawei ones. For Alcatel the method I propose works best. Try for yourself smile.gif

I actually managed to do away with the Thompson router and used an Asus wifi router instead.

I used this method since I have the Huawei HG850a BTU to get the Huawei to handle VOIP.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2710206

Worked for about close to a year but somehow the VOIP wasn't functioning anymore. No idea what changed on Maxis side since I did not change anything.

I got fed up going back and forth with Maxis tech and insisted that I have my set up back using the Thompson router. I wasn't going to do additional work and at the end I got a Cisco SPA122 ATA to handle the VOIP connection. Never had a problem since. wink.gif

If you want fast and stable wifi connection, ditch the Thompson router.

i too want to replace the thompson router as it is too weak in the wifi signal and frequent dropped connection.

would it be as easy as getting an Asus router, replaced it and use back the internet wifi with phone?

i would still need to maintain the TM Huawei switch right?

THanks.

If you want to use back the phone with custom router like Asus, I was successful by hacking the Huawei HG850a BTU to enable VOIP on it and connect the phone directly to the BTU. It worked for a few months but one day it refused to work out of the blue. I suspect something or some configuration changed on Maxis' side. No idea what it was. But Maxis came back saying that nothing's changed on their side. rolleyes.gif So I decided to get a Cisco SPA122 ATA to handle the VOIP connection.

Sorry double post.
Cool! Always wondered if that was possible. How did you connect the ATA to the custom router? Is it inline between the router & ONT? What config did you need to dial the SIP server?
*
I just checked and the Cisco SPA122 ATA connects directly to my network switch.

Simple as that. It just needs internet connection. As for the config, I need to dig it out. One kind soul helped me out and I'm eternally grateful to him. If you happen to be facing the same problem, let me know, I'll guide you.

Hello Guys ,

I have a problem need your guys help...
I had connected my new buy router archer c2 as shown on the attached but i having a problem the VOIP ?
On the maxis configuration checked telephone status OK but register shown a cross...
Anyone have any idea to solve the problem and i called to maxis but until now haven't get any reply from them.
*
Have you checked the passwords and that it's all correct? Have you tried to verify the VOIP connection working ok on your old Thomson router?

Problem with Maxis support is that they will or can only support you when you're using their default hardware. If you're using a custom router, then I'm afraid you're pretty much on your own. Been there. sad.gif
