Hi new user here. Just changed over from Unifi 5mb to maxis 20mb.

I've got some questions to ask:

1. Are you supposed to get a voip phone from the installer? The installer was telling me that maxis are too cheap to provide the phone. However on the installation form that a checkbox for a phone so I'm concerned that the installer might have pulled a fast one. I only realised that when I noticed that my dect phone from unifi still uses telephone cables rather than lan cables.

2. Managed to set up the service on my asus RTN15U router which has built in settings for maxis fiber. The only thing I have not been able to test has been the VOIP phone which is supposed to be enable on lan port 3.

3. Discovered that some websites (not saying which ones) are blocked and changing DNS setting on the router to the google DNS ones does not work. These websites are accessible on unifi after changing router DNS settings. I have access to VPN services but would like to know if there is an easier way of assessing 'prohibited' websites.

4. Because of 3 above, I called up maxis immediately and change my IP to a public IP. That was fast and relatively painless but it didn't solve my website filtering issue.

5. Main reason i upgraded was because on Netflix. Streaming now is awesome and a big improvement on vanilla 5mb unifi.

For question no 1, I have been asked to pay extra Rm90 for phone but I refused..then I call serv center for this issue, they said there is no such Rm90 thing and then the technician call me back and ask me when I can pay him, I said I have call Service center earlier, they said no need to pay. He just keep quiet, after while he said he sorry and hope I will not report to Maxis bout this as he might get fired. Such a pig.  vmad.gif

Thanks for the info. However I just called up and they said they don't provide a phone so looks like I need to hunt down a new phone before I can terminate my tmnet accounts.

I only realised that when I noticed that my dect phone from unifi still uses telephone cables rather than lan cables. ok clarified no phone in current packages.

2.  Managed to set up the service on my asus RTN15U router which has built in settings for maxis fiber.  The only thing I have not been able to test has been the VOIP phone which is supposed to be enable on lan port 3.answered by hmmaster and I went home and paid more attention to the video instructions from the asus page.

This is me being a noob and not pressing the apply button on my router and thinking I had.  Google dns settings successfully applied.

So now I know that even after using my Asus router, I still have to connect the Technicolor router to LAN3 in order to use VOIP service. This is a waste of electricity. Is there any way I can totally get rid of it? perhaps with an aftermarket voip phone that just connects to the LAN port?

There is one guide on this... but it is quite old, not sure if it is still applicable or not:-
