wan to check any 1 using maxis fiber with astro IPTV? i had a dilemma of choosing between unifi and maxis fiber. currently my astro comes with pvr + satellite dish. I saw there's promo where apply maxis fiber and get rebate off the astro for RM 25 per month. the downside is i had to change to IPTV, cant use the satellite. But my astro decoder is downstair and my fiber is upstair, i really dont wanted to pull another cable. I saw tp-link there's device powerline or something. any 1 using similar setup?

It's best to avoid having astro IPTV with maxis ftth.

Just two days before chinese new year the dsl line is down, and I do not have internet access for 10 days!

Imagine if my astro is on maxis ftth, I would have to stare at the wall for 10 days, no internet, no astro.

And best to avoid having maxis ftth at all, unifi is the best.

When dsl line down, they would tell you they can't do anything, they have to wait for TM guy. I do not believe this. The truth is Maxis themselves has limited on site technician who is covering a big area. The problem lies with Maxis.

You never see when installing Maxis FTTH that TM technician follow them also?  TM owns the poles and ports and fibre, Maxis just piggy backs on the existing infrastructure.
*
Maxis always use TM as excuses for late service.

The fact is one Maxis onsite technician is given a whole big area, having a long list of appointments daily.

Even if TM guy is free, Maxis cannot cope, saving cost with one technician covering so many places.

If you don't believe, next time when Maxis technician come over your place, peak at the long list he has on the paper.

Yeah, Maxis is just leasing the infrastructure from TM and hence they need to follow the schedule and appointment availabilities given by TM.

However, if you are in pure Maxis built, the service is excellent. If you dislike it so much, why not switch to UniFi? smile.gif
*
This is not discussion about switching to unifi.

This is about Maxis lackluster service which could be improved further.

By the way, do not be one sided.

Have you heard the story of Maxis onsite technician threaten to disconnect customer internet connection for 3 weeks? Is that acceptable by any standard? That is the kind of onsite Maxis technician you're served with, incompetence and arrogance.

It's ok for you to be a fanboy. This does not mean we cannot criticized Maxis, and when we tell our true personal experience, you're quick to ask to switch ISP.

After experiencing maxis ftth, if I can turn back time, I would choose unifi. But since now I am with maxis, I'll stick with it for the time being, I'll change when I decided enough is enough. So I believe it's my right to tell someone who is deciding between maxis and unifi to go for the later. Please give a little respect, TQ.

Who is the one being one sided? doh.gif
I had my share of bad experience with TM back with Streamyx and early UniFi days.

Not being a fan boy, but it's just sad that you aren't living in Maxis built area laugh.gif
Besides, as a consumer; you do have choice to choose other alternatives. Being said that, if you ever used P1; you'll go crazy. It is a truly horror ride.

Heard of you pay what you get? cool2.gif

TM service quality has improved much after 2008, but I am stuck with Maxis for the time being since there is no UniFi here.
*
I've been with streamyx before. I've been early adopter on Maxis FTTH as well, remember the browsing was slower than streamyx. So the maxis Thomson router engineer came over, I patiently showing him what the problem with, replicating the issue so he can find a way to solve it. Wasting many hours that is not supposed my work.

It's the overall service of maxis that badly need improvement. Leaving the connection down for 10 days is not acceptable at all. And relying on incompetent onsite technician make it worst.

Appreciate your help thus far, let's put off the fire.

I am sure you agreed with me there are lots of room for improvement with maxis service.

You get what you pay for? Not very sure when it comes to internet in Malaysia. Been to Cambodia? Been there and found the report that their average speed is faster than Malaysia is true.

My friends unifi ping to australia is around 230ms
My Maxis fibre ping to australia is around 500ms

Is there anything i can do?

Yes, change to unifi if gaming is your main usage of internet.

Or else, you've to get used of the suffering, courtesy of maxshit!

My friends using Unifi connect directly to AUS..

If you can get maxshit cto, the famous guy with stupid youtube video, maybe he will listen to you.

If you talk to maxshit customer service, don't waste time. They are not maxshit staffs actually, the whole maxshit ftth is outsourced to outsider, i.e. contractor, even the maxshit onsite technician is again outsourced to another party. So do you think they care?

You need to thank god if your maxshit internet connection is not down! So forget about solving the latency.

"Concentrator not reachable" for high rise, not able to connect, currently using mobile internet.

This happened after TM technician came to my condo riser room today, seen some wires/cables on the floor. They came to fix/install someone else internet, not mine internet connection.

May I know what error is this? The DSL light is up though. Is it because they change my port?

The last two times TM technician came to the riser room, my internet is down with DSL light off.

This cannot be going on and on. I can see all other unifi connections have no problem, except mine, using Maxis FTTH.

Any solution to prevent TM technician damaging my internet connection everytime they come to visit the riser room?

I am existing Maxis FTTH who is an early bird under the rm118 promotion.

This July it'll be the 3rd year I am with the service.

My question is, do I have to be a Maxis mobile phone user to continue enjoying this rm118 privilege?

The reason for asking is I am interested with Celcom Fibre 38 and would like to convert my existing Maxis mobile phone to Celcom.

The Celcom promotion ended 16 July so I need to act fast.

hope someone can enlighten me, thank you.

Yes, same over here!

Something very wrong these few days.

My speedtest is 10mbps as well, so it is true that internet service provider is supplying false speed to speedtest website/apps such ookla speedtest.

What about unifi at this moment? Anyone able to get info on this?

If unifi slow as well, then not maxis fault, it is down to the line provided by TM. If only maxis slow, then something very wrong with maxis server.

Is it something wrong with TM Huawei Modem?

I normally off my internet at night, and then restart it the next morning.

For 2 straight days I noticed the TM Huawei Modem has difficulty to connect to the internet. It will take at least 5 minutes to get the DSL light.

The TM Huawei Modem will retry to connect for at least 10 times, before it is successful. It will reboot itself as I can see the whole thing will restart itself with the power off and on again.

Is such behavior something wrong with the TM Huawei Modem? A sign it is going to spoilt?

But once it get connected to the Internet, it is working fine, until I off both TM Huawei Modem and Maxis router, the symptom come back again, please help.

Hi danieltay,

May we know, since when you encounter such issue?
Upon checking, it will take few minutes for the model DSL light to turn on after we restart the device.

Thank you
*
Thanks for the reply, good to know someone from Maxis here.

The normal process is the Modem DSL light turn on in less than 60 seconds(no auto restart of modem while waiting the DSL light turn on), and then it takes another few minutes for the Maxis router to turn on the blue light and then connected to the internet. I've been dong it for years, everyday.

But only these 2 days the Modem keep auto restarting(I can see the power on and off again) before the DSL light turn on, and it takes about 5 minutes for the DSL light to turn on.

I call up Maxis center and Ika promised to hook me up to one of the technician, but nothing happened thus far. You guys trying to set barrier yet the customer service always fail to relate the real issue to the technical department. In such case, I need to speak directly to the technician to let them know the real issue.

For your info, I even got a ridiculous answer from your customer service saying it has to do with my wifi channel. This is TM Huawei Modem issue yet you tell me it is wifi channel issue when my internet has problem to start. That is how poor is your customer service.

Please get your technician to call me, if you are serious about solving customer issue and committed in serving the customer, as promised!

A very friendly advice for those who want to sign-up for maxis ftth, DON'T!

My connection has been down at least 3 times every year for the past few years. Worst of all it could take up to 10 days to solve the issue when your internet connection is down.

When you call up customer service, they either do not understand what you said or giving you the wrong answer.

When you request to speak to technical team, they refuse to do so.

They set all kinds of barriers to avoid responsibility.

I've had enough this time around. I told them something wrong with the TM Huawei Modem, yet the customer service does not understand. I need to call 3 times to explain the same thing again and again, before a report is created.

Then today they sent someone from maxis team who are not able to do anything, because it is TM Modem issue. No TM guy available.

I will take legal action against Maxis this time around.

Waited 10 days even after complaint to mcmc.

Maxis, case #C17127262 reported Wednesday 9th December, but you are still not able to set up appointment with TM to fix my TM Huawei Modem.

What the hell are you guys doing?

Those who want to apply for maxis ftth, please run away as fast as you can!

If your internet is down, you will have to wait at least 7 days!

And best of all, they will give you all sorts of promises, like someone will call you by 2pm, will call you within 30 minute, but you wait whole day until tomorrow also no one will call you!

Really international PUKIMAK service by Maxis FTTH!

1) anyone know how many days needed for the application's process
2) if i want cancel the application now, how to do it? any charges?

Run for your life!

Better cancel your application because if your internet is down, you will have to wait at least 7 days before someone shown up to solve your issue.

Maxis always have to wait for TM guy, and priority is given to unifi, maxis ftth customer always have to queue up at the back.
