Last I'd heard from a TM Point while trying to purchases a B618, tests are already being run at KL and expanding, but only limited to customers that are subscribed to the Streamyx package and offered through phone calls. The representative asked me to wait for around a month which is more or less starting today. QUOTE(carlitofreak @ Jul 31 2019, 05:30 PM) My house currently using Streamyx 4Mbps (RM140/month). Limited coverage, limited offers and no "new" subscriptions? QUOTE According to TM, there are approximately 35,000 Streamyx customers that are within their TDD-LTE coverage and TM will be contacting these customers to offer them the option to upgrade. satu peluang my ass, #khabarbaik my ass |

Yes, this is a joke, i dont understand why they dare to call this as solution! i called to 100, she told me UNIFI AIR only covered limited area...they have a list to stated which area/taman having this "AIR" coverage, she checked through the list and told me my area is not fall under the it, according to her it could be either not under coverage (no signal/or very poor signal) or not stable connection area (thats why not in the list). And she told me TM will expand the "Air" coverage is future, which i think is stupid answer like what they did for Unifi Fiber (ask customer to wait, but nothing happen even after few years of time) Since TM has responded to me that the band or spectrum that Unifi AIR uses and unifi mobile is different, they said that even if I have 4G+ connection on my phone doesn't mean Unifi AIR coverage is available for me. just got mine few weeks ago. 1 month trial for free, they offered me via phone call.
if i pass 30 days trial period without abt dissatisfaction they will consider id agree to sign up for 2 year contract, and auto terminate my streamyx. the router given is Huawei B618 (65d), a 4G router capable of 600Mbps downstream and 100Mbps upstream this router also capable of dual band wifi too, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. packed with 2x gigabit LAN port (1 for LAN another is for WAN), 1x usb port for file sharing, 2x ts9 port for external outdoor 4G antenna the unifi sim is already inserted in the sim slot, with a sticker seal (to avoid tampering maybe?) ==== UniFi Air ==== the speedtest seems good, around 20mbit+ down, around 3~8mbit up, the ping however seems not so stable. sometimes 40ms+, sometimes spike 100ms+, thats what to be expected from 4G LTE right? definitely no problem for streaming 1080p on youtube/netflix, not quite 4K ready though. online gaming is also great, dota 2, cs go, pubg etc.. compared to my current 8mb streamyx, 7.8mbit down, 0.5mbit up. ping around 40ms+, its definitely a good bargain. my concern is, is it reliable to replace my streamyx? im more confident with streamyx since it is wired based, while unifi air is based on 4G LTE, may prone to congestions issue ( i think ) apart for relying on wireless 4G LTE, unifi air is undeniably offer alot of advantage, especially with upload speed is at least 10x higher compared to streamyx, === Pricing === The monthly fee for UniFi Air is RM 79 ( RM 83.70 inc tax ) While for 8mb Streamyx, monthly fee is RM 130 ( RM 137.80 inc tax ) ** the price was originally for 4mb streamyx, but i got upgrade to 8mb during the turbo upgrade campaign for the same price ** /// update /// starting from september, streamyx customer will be migrated tu unifi lite, utilising the same dsl technology and speed, at lower price, which is RM 69 per month. source : http://cloud.email.unifi.com.my/litehttp://cloud.email.unifi.com.my/lite do you think i should stay on streamyx at lower price (RM 69 starting from september) ? or just go for unifi air? (RM 79 with 2 years contract) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's a terrible "solution", hardly benefiting anyone?
35,000 out of the 900 thousand Streamyx users will only benefit from such a transition? That's not even 5%. Not to mention the crap coverage this package is offering. Short term wise it's fine, since there's a significant upgrade in speed. Long term it is definitely not, compared to fibre or other wireless options in the market. |

Unifi Air will be the same or very similar like the usual 4G LTE service you used by usual telcos like Maxis, Celcom, Digi, U Mobile....
The coverage is expanding, but not everywhere yet, and it definitely takes time. If Unifi Air is not available in your area yet, I would advise to give up considering about that, and go for other telcos (e.g. Digi, Yes 4G LTE, U Mobile) that has better 4G service in your area and subscribe to their wireless broadband plans, whichever suits your data usage and budget. Or stick to Streamyx (Unifi Lite) for the speed up to 8Mbps, and RM69/month. There's isn't much you could do. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it's even 28%, it's actually 2.8% if you counted it as 1 million Streamyx users. (35,000/1,000,000)*100 = 3.5%, hardly making a dent. Can we also just pay 5% of our current bills then? Yes, it's not a "solution" as claimed by that darn TM. #khabarburuk This post has been edited by dark_axl21: Aug 10 2019, 10:35 AM |

QUOTE(dark_axl21 @ Aug 10 2019, 10:44 AM) Haha, yeah and since you have Unifi Fibre coverage, you can opt for Maxis Fibre and then get that plan as well? Win-win still within contract. maybe after that will considersbut maxis broadband seems to have more complaints over unif. So will be hesitate to do it also. have been using unifi for years, no issues so far. Scare change to maxis broadband and end up with more hassles. |

It makes a huge difference, especially when you have multiple desktops hooked up to the network plus a NAS. Yes, torrenting is absolutely fine, I could usually hit 90% of the bandwidth mostly with multiple downloads, do note that you need a better router for that. |

QUOTE(pcbase @ Aug 10 2019, 11:32 AM) UniFi Air bad name choice for wireless broadband service Names or branding are just optional, but the service provided is just crap. it sound like low cost airlines carrier like malindo air, lion air, ryani air, tiger air, nok air, peach air It doesn't serve its point for being an "interim" solution by just covering 35,000 Streamyx users, what about the other 900,000 users out there? Just wait till 2021 to be fully upgraded to a fibre infrastructure and continue to pay "discounted" prices for the next 2 years? |

I think u should stay for RM69 without contract and opt for fibre in future, rather than using unifi air if ping issues and congestion problem matter to u
. cuz i use 4g broadband too, no congestion no prob very syiok but when at night a lot of ppl use digi congestion prevails then it became horrifying to use |

It's all bullshit from TM. They called me and when I asked if I can get Unifi Air, nope not available. Upgrade my 4mbps to 8mbps also nada. In the end I'm still being unfairly charged while other people enjoy better speed.

ill consider ur suggestion.. however the speed is so tempting.. despite the price cut..
20mb vs 8mb is quite a huge difference to me. plus the upload speed quite helpful too at most time. i dont game quite much lately due to work constraints. so the latency not much an issue to me. im looking to stick w unifi air if they willing to asign me a public ip for my cctv. u think it is possible? their live chat support said it is possible.. but i always got hung up cos no response from them after that. maybe they got confused w unifi air and unifi fibre. ill keep trying again next week. if no public ip, maybe ill stick to streamyx. |

Just another excuse for them not to lay fibre. Fibre solution is better in the long run. Why can't they accept that?

Does Unifi Air also provides voice service with landline-like number such as 03-21814779?
If yes, then the service may be worth it. |

TM have a lot of great plans and executed poorly. This is just a stopgap solution to improve Internet connectivity for non Unifi areas. I am not confident with their 4G network considering how spotty the coverage is right now. It will take at least 2 years with high level of commitment to even match Umobile. |

Not to mention the absurb pricing for new subscriptions. |

Even with local test servers, 4G would only yield around 20+ms response time. That is totally unsuitable for gaming or live video streaming.

Personally, it's a waste of time, you ask their live chat they will give you answer A, you recheck with their FB chat, they give you answer B, you go to their TMPoint they give you answer C, you get pissed and submit a complaint to MCMC, they are just gonna reply you no coverage or something that is totally unrelated to your complaint. haha..i see a lot of ranting from user hogging the tm network.
normal user does not have any issue. tm told unifi air is interim solution also they scared all unifi fiber customer migrate to this unifi air. so its normal they open for existing streamyx users only having 2 mil customer does not mean all the 2 mil is good paymaster remember the turbo tm stated users need to pay their outstanding bill or not eligible to get the turbo it was good speed 20m vs previous lite 10m vs 8m streamyx as for me using 4m streamyx right now, i will be taking the offer without hesitations. now waiting tm to call This post has been edited by lukemanz: Aug 17 2019, 09:47 AM |

Tbh, my place is one the first place to get Unifi Air but I realised something on the video that they offered people that are within the Town area only. That's the only place that have 4G LTE coverage. Other places are still struggling with 3G. I think mostly the speed can reach about 20Mbps only. My place also have Unifi Lite 10Mbps SUBB which is available in all places. Most of them. For me, Unifi Air should be a temporary solution until we get Fibre connection soon. As it mentioned before, it's using Tower connection which eventually will occur speed drop if there are many users in that area and the connection will be unstable. TM can't make this a permanent solution. Fibre is the most suitable solution tbh

I have lodged a report to MCMC as false advertising..
As you mentioned before, they shouldn't announce this as khabarbaik if we cant enjoy it... |

QUOTE(wykl @ Aug 22 2019, 04:03 PM) I have lodged a report to MCMC as false advertising.. I'm sure they will call you first to confirm your area. As you mentioned before, they shouldn't announce this as khabarbaik if we cant enjoy it... Then explain to you that it's your fault since your area has no coverage. Then proceed with ticking off your complaint as solved. Sending you an email with an pdf attachment explaining their no coverage motto and just wait policy Been there, done that. It's just a waste of breath to talk to them. I've reopened the case 5 times and they eventually just "apologized" and changed the status to solved. Gave up after that. MCMC was the last straw. And I don't understand how Gobind Singh could have accepted such a flaw. QUOTE(dark_axl21 @ Aug 1 2019, 05:51 AM) You would have to hand it to TM for such a slow roll out of any packages without any consolidation or plans. if not mistaken,b4 this "Unifi Air" launch,it was call "wireless broadband",and by that time, when u subscride their wireless broadband,u will need to pay RM565 for the Huawei B618,without contract, and it's UNlock.Last I'd heard from a TM Point while trying to purchases a B618, tests are already being run at KL and expanding, but only limited to customers that are subscribed to the Streamyx package and offered through phone calls. The representative asked me to wait for around a month which is more or less starting today. Darn. Where are you currently located? Any more details about the B618 though? Is it locked? other telco like Celcom is using the same Huawei B618,but different series, with "22d" ( B618-22d),but it's locked to celcom sim card only, however,u can "jailbreak" it to unlock, maybe can try online tutorial ... i'm using a unlocked B618 (tested with DG and celcom)for about 2 months,so far so good ... QUOTE(sHawTY @ Aug 1 2019, 10:18 AM) If you're using wireless/portable broadband, you are definitely screwed in the gaming department. No matter what wireless/portable ISP you use DG infinite plan which normally get >20mbps,my son is happy with his ps4 Fortnight online |

apparently my friend got the unifi air and the modem sim slot got "warranty seal" stick on it... firmware wise seem still the old firmware on previously b618 65d..suspecting just old stock reserved for unifi air.

Of all complaints file to mcmc , TM has the highest record of not even able to solve the complaint problems or case unattended. Even mcmc also keep quiet over the case. QUOTE(ahpooki @ Sep 10 2019, 04:36 PM) its not available yet to public or new customer.this is just one of their strategy to cope with unifi fibre demand among streamyx user... and apparently not all streamyx user get the offer, i dont think consistency in paying bills is one of the criteria they choose. it just plain random it seems to me. as me myself nvr pay on time, maybe few days after due.. haha it is actually using the same 4G lte tdd network , previously known as "webe" (or p1 perhaps, before rebrand) so the speed, depending on the area. my area for example, it is usable, by usable i mean, for streaming definitely no problem as the speed can reach up to 30mbit/s (averagely 20mbit/s). but for gaming, id would definitely against it, as the latency/ping quite unstable. other than that, if you have home server/or cctv that require public ip, it definitely wont work. they wont provide public ip for you (confirmed my self by call and live chat). in the end, i return my unit. and stay for streamyx. as it seems more reliable to me, free from 24 months contract, wait till fibre port are available. |

Based on their coverage map, my condo site is half covered, half not. And my block is on the not-covered side. Lol. Registration can only be done at TMPoint right? Quite troublesome as they are only open during office hour.

Are they using Celcom tower for Unifi Air?
For fellow who already using it, my main concern is how is the ping or how stable the ping is? For comparison, Digi 150, i ping 8.8.8.8 for couple hours, only 1-2 packet loss, which is already good to me |

As usual, forever no coverage.
But since the officer in charge of my "complaint" ever since has told met to register at the nearest TMPoint, I went specifically to their branch and tried to register for one. Alas, not surprised with their response and badly trained staff members asking what is unifi Air As usual they just said the product is just released and they don't have either the modem or the SIM card. Like WTF is TM doing? They have neither items and they actually dare to publicly offer it? Another complaint coming up. Just ended with taking my details and will update me instantly when they "re-confirm" the coverage and the availability of the product. So some points to note: 1. Forever no coverage 2. Staffs are still badly trained and under-equipped 3. TM has the worst rollout of plans and packages 4. Misinformation is key to "cheat" customers of their money |

I've been using unifi mobile since the start, 20GB per SIM is really hard to finish especially it's just light browsing. 1) Take #bebas and run some testing on your hp/device that supported LTE Band 5/38/40 2) If it frequently drop to 3g forget about unifi air 3) If it stable at 4G and speed was your liking proceed to next step 4) Check the unifi air coverage at https://unifi.com.my/personal/home/wireless-broadband, search for area near to your house that has the coverage, remember it 5) walkin to tmpoint and when the staff ask your address, just answer your address as per step (4) 6) enjoy your package Back to what I've just said. Senior office in charge says its covered and just requires IC to register. But at the TM Point its another story. What the staff and the officer in charge says different information. The RM79 SIM only option they introduced recently is bad move. Without limiting the number accounts per area, somehow they will introduce some sort of throttling in the long run if things get out of hand like secretly limiting users speed with a non mentioned quota hidden as fair usage policy or some sort.
It might not happen now while it's still new but within 2 years anything can happen. Some of us who experienced wireless solutions such as from DiGi & UMobile will know what i mean. |

Unifi Air is TM solution for un-fiber streamix user as request by minister GobinIt might not happen now while it's still new but within 2 years anything can happen. Some of us who experienced wireless solutions such as from DiGi & UMobile will know what i mean. 30MHz of band 40 + 20MHz of band 38 should be good for 2 year. |

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Sep 22 2019, 06:36 AM) Just installed Unifi Air at my parent's house. Been using Streamyx 2Mbps since forever and got the call from them to upgrade. They sent the Huawei modem straight to my house. Hopefully no throttling. The lowest I get so far from the speedtest is around 25Mbps. This is the highest I thought they limit to 20 Mbps only.![]() |

You guys want to pay RM79 and expect truly unlimited access with your Unifi Air?
Their Unifi Mobile Bebas Weekly which costs more by RM1 if you renew for 4 weeks(1month) in a row for RM20 a week also throttled kaw kaw to only 8Mbps and slow like turtle. This Unifi Air won't last more so when they're now introducing the SIM-only plan for RM79 a month without contract. It's fated to go the same way as their Bebas Weekly plan expect speed throttling and lots of P2P restrictions in the long run. |

I plug it in and it is not working But when I plug it is in Huawei E5377 modem , it is working, not sure why? Any idea? Thanks LTE FDD Band 5 (850MHz) LTE TDD Band 38 (2600MHz) or 40 (2300MHz) Then you know which frequency bands that unifi mobile uses in your area, as well as knowing your huawei modems supports at which frequency bands. We should feel fortunate instead there's still a band available that is not too occupied |

TM might interested in getting some of this spectrum after analogue switch off has completed and spectrum auction begins. If that really happens, Unifi air users that using Huawei b618-65d modem can get to enjoy service from this 700MHz band right after its base station is up and running, on top with 850MHz and others. |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Sep 28 2019, 11:55 PM) True also. but band 38 & 40 have more bandwidth. unifi air design for fixed wireless terminal at home. limited coverage can solve with external antenna. TM no stranger with external antenna start from TM-Will, TM-CDMA, TM-EVDO, External antenna for unifi air should't be a problem.Don't forget, 65d also supports b28 (700MHz). TM might interested in getting some of this spectrum after analogue switch off has completed and spectrum auction begins. If that really happens, Unifi air users that using Huawei b618-65d modem can get to enjoy service from this 700MHz band right after its base station is up and running, on top with 850MHz and others. |

Today i received my unifi Air modem router for 1 month free. They called and offered me one.
Initial test the speed is decent (around 40Mbps), but not sure whether it will throttle later or restriction on P2P when promotion expire or not like what some users said here. Try the popcorn time (P2P movie apps) and the download speed is around 8-10Mbps despite the speedtest. TM also said in the phone that i better cancel after 1 to 2 weeks usage if not satisfy, don wait for full 1 month to allow some buffer in service cancel procedure otherwise will auto subscribe later. So do you think i just keep my streamyx lite 8Mbps fixed line or change to this? |

QUOTE(matt_rix @ Sep 30 2019, 05:39 PM) Unifi Air and Unifi Mobile are the same thing, and coverage is also the same. It's just that both services are cater for different user needs. Marketing. QUOTE(jin^manusia @ Sep 30 2019, 06:21 PM) By right, no. But they can cap the speed if they feel like it. Since they "promised" to get an average 20Mbps, then just accept as it is. If your speed is lower than 20mbps, then you may ask TM what's going on. |

Hi guys, just need confirmation. Is it confirmed that Unifi Air and Unifi Mobile is the same thing? Because according to "check my coverage", there's no Unifi Air coverage at my location.
An does good Celcom 4G coverage equal to good Unifi 4G coverage? Their staff told me they're using Celcom 4G. However my phone seems unable to lock 4G even at place where Celcom got excellent coverage. This makes me hesitated to get the Unifi Air because Unifiy Mobile is awfully problematic. It make me wonder whether it's my phone is the problem, or it's the 4G is the problem... |

Also, whenever your Unifi Mobile shows 3G or H+, it is roaming on Celcom's network. QUOTE Unifiy Mobile is awfully problematic. You've already got your own answer... What is your phone model? Check if your phone model supports these 4G LTE bands, which are Band 5 850MHz, Band 38 2600MHz and Band 40 2300MHz. If all these 3 bands are supported, yet you get poor network performance from Unifi Mobile at your area, then it is advised that you give up and switch to other telco for the time being. |

My advise, give up and move on to other telco. 1) Unifi Air Pro: 79/ month. Kinda fast for daily usage compare to my wife's Maxis hotspot although Speedtest not as good as Maxis. Now I'm typing this from the hotspot too. Con: Still unsure of the signal strength. I was hoping B618 65D will improve this and poor signal is cause by my phone. 2) Celcom Pro: Proven good coverage, although Speedtest is more or less with UA. Somehow there's glimpse of hope for the 50Gb because of the Video and Music Walla. Con: At the same time, I'm afraid that 50GB is not enough for us all while 150GB, RM150/ month cost me two month of UA. I think my sweet spot is 100GB. Plus very congested Celcom broadband coverage here according to the CS but excellent 4G coverage. He said the 4G for these two is different, and I really hope this is marketing only. 3) Yoodo Pro: Only Rm98/ month for 100GB data only, interesting add-on. Con: I wonder if I can use mobile sim data as wireless broadband with B618 as a router? 4) Maxis Pro: Excellent 4G coverage, good Speedtest, aceptable speed and more stable than UA at least. Con: The official broadband is very expensive compared to Celcom. I notice got unlimited data and hotspot for rent 130/ month but is it usable in a router and Rm130/ month is a tad cheaper than 150GB Celcom. While I do realized that Speedtest doesn't reflect the real world, what bother me is the consumption for whole household. So far parents only use for Whatsapp and Youtube, wife more on social media and online K drama while me planning to connect smart TV to the internet, downloading series, movies, and sometimes app. Hmmm... Confused. |

And yeah, regarding your advice, I'm seriously thinking of Celcom 50GB.
1) They offer trial, at least I'll get to know. 2) Free B618, although its locked. Don't really bothered by the contract because pretty sure there will be no fiber here. But again, let's hope Maxis doesn't offer kaw kaw promo or plan while I'm still tied to contract. |

Got some mixed ideas as I read through all the pages.
Can we use the Unifi Air sim card in our phone? I want to test the signal strength out using my phone first, without going through the 24-months contract. I stay on the 27th floor of my condo. My phone (Digi) receptions are a bit spotty, so if Unifi Air is the same, then no point for me to get it. |

QUOTE(jsnhoh @ Oct 8 2019, 06:35 PM) I guess my Note 9 has band 5 support. I wonder if my spare iPhone 5 will connect, seems like possible (checked that mine is GSM model A1429) Will get a SIM card to test soon. It is a real pain that only certain TMpoints have it though. I had the same idea with RedShirt to test signal strength with my phone first. But it seems like my phone wont connect to their 4g without proper apn setting. Does anyone know the proper apn setting for mobile?

Currently on 8Mbps Streamyx with fresh 1yr contract due to speed upgrade before the rm69 price take effect. Unifi mobile speed test on band 5 phone is not bad (10-15Mbps consistently) in my area even though it is not covered at all as shown in TM website. Am I allowed to switch to Unifi Air w/ 2yr contract (and hence terminate the 1yr Streamyx contract)? And if yes, how should I go about convincing them? Don't think TM staff will allow me to switch over since I am not in coverage

Just subscribed to sim only plan. When I first asked at TMPoint, their staff said I cant use phone for hot spot, need to use modem. I plan to use my phone as hot spot and my phone supports band 5. Then I went to another branch to register, the staff asked if I already have modem. I just said I have since some people here said they can use their phone. Other than the sim can't make call, is there any other reason the staff show extra concern on using modem instead of phone?
Got back to office, and I remember my last year ipad also supports band 5 so I put the sim in the ipad instead. So far I can browse and update apps on the ipad, and use it as hot spot too. If there is no restrictions that I should be concerned about and coverage is ok at home, I'm thinking of terminating my current celcom sim for the ipad and use this unifi plan. Download speed in my office average about 20 - 22 Mbps but upload speed is all over the place. Lol. This post has been edited by singgung: Oct 16 2019, 03:42 PM |

Damnit TM... I went to TM Point so many times but you kept telling me not yet for business. All you need to do is tell me to use my personal name and claim from my company instead.
After 2 months of frustration, finally got my Unifi Air... I cant wait to type authorize letter to cancel streamyx. So damn happy... maybe my area got Unifi thus only me on Unifi Air, therefore Im getting really good speed. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Those who want sim only to use on your phone why not settled for unifi mobile RM99? I think it will have much wider coverage than this Unifi Air. It's unlimited data and call according to what I saw.

What if the location does not have 4G coverage? For unifi mobile it will roam on Celcom 3G network. What about Unifi Air?

unifi mobile get TM 4G, CELCOM 3G and CELCOM 4G. So, that are among the differences |

QUOTE(jsnhoh @ Oct 21 2019, 02:59 PM) Unifi might change the tnc anytime and is that any black & white stated we can keep after contract end? https://unifi.com.my/lsds/assets/documents/...0Air_130919.pdfFAQ said that one needs to return the device. that's why this is the confusing part. Do I need to return the unifi Air device when I terminate the service without any penalty? Yes, you will need to return the device and its packaging in good working condition to any of our TMpoint outlets. This post has been edited by westlife: Oct 21 2019, 03:50 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Usually below 2Mbps. Best to find device (modem or phone) that support B38 B40 but not B5 so u get to connect to fast bands if there is multiple tower nearby.reading from this thread it seem like unifi air really do support on band 5.. just need a double confirmation.. do unifi air support band 5..? |

I'm currently having two;
1. Unifi Air (subscribed on 22nd October 2019) 2. Digi Infinite 150 Currently I'm using modem Huawei B315s-607 with these band specs; HUAWEI B315s-607: 4G Band 1/3/7/8/28/40 (FDD 700/900/1800/2100/2600 & TDD LTE 2300Mhz) 3G BAND: DC HSPA+,HSPA+, HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS/900/2100 MHz GSM BAND : 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz At the same time, I also have iPad Pro 11. I conducted test to see the speed. So here's my result. a. Unifi Air i. Speedtest direct from iPad ![]() ii. Speedtest from wifi (Huawei) ![]() b. DiGi Infinite 150 i. Speedtest direct from iPad ![]() ii. Speedtest from wifi (iPad) ![]() Hence, looking at the result, it is the modem that forbid my Unifi Air to reach its full potential and DiGi have the best speed either direct or wifi. In which it makes me think and I really need to have your guys advice here; a. Which line i need to terminate? b. Should I get Huawei B618 to replace my current Huawei modem? Your kind advice is really appreciated. |

QUOTE(aixon @ Oct 31 2019, 11:19 PM) .The latency/ping/input-lag for wireless 4G modem-router is slightly higher than wired Fiber Ethernet modem-router by about 10 milliseconds. I got my own Unifi Air + modem although sales advisor told me will not get full performance but at least better than 8Mbps cap on bebas.
3km away from 4G coverage my findings as below: - Using band 5, hovering @ 11Mbps on DWR-953, while 4-6Mbps on B618, RSRP -90dB - Using band 40, B618 able to go up to 16Mbps, RSRP -104dB * Tested when SNR value is at min 10. ** Before Unifi Air comes into picture, band 38 & 40 were widely detectable in my places. But now band 40 is spotty and band 38 is no where to be found. ** Sim activated 1 hour after application. *** No "warranty" sticker placed at the SIM slot This post has been edited by khk1987: Nov 2 2019, 03:37 PM |

1. Tenda 4G680 V2 2. TP-LINK TL-MR6400 Do they work on Unifi Air? Thanks. |

QUOTE(chiafoo @ Nov 4 2019, 11:45 AM) I tested with DWR-953 (supports B5, B38 and B40) to compare with B618.It is able to work flawlessly on B5 even away from actual LTE coverage about 3km away. Just check your device LTE band frequency it supports. Now my DWR-953 putting up for sale for those uses Unifi Air without contract. |

I checked the datasheet/spec in dlink MY website but it didnt write about the band however seller told me it is supported . Is it using same band with unifi mobile? It is able to work flawlessly on B5 even away from actual LTE coverage about 3km away. Just check your device LTE band frequency it supports. Now my DWR-953 putting up for sale for those uses Unifi Air without contract. |

It is supporting band frequencies of 900/1800/2600/800 MHzOnly 2600 Mhz which is band 38 is supported for your device. From my experience in Bdr Sg Long band 38 is missing after unifi air has launched. This post has been edited by khk1987: Nov 5 2019, 02:41 PM |

Is it just me or Unifi Air sim card when you put it inside a phone, you can't use it to open Hotspot?
I tried with iPhone 7, cannot do Hotspot. It says to contact service provider. /edit Tried with Galaxy S8+, able to Hotspot (but PC will BSOD when connect to Hotspots from Android phones....iPhone hotspots are okay). Weird. Guess I have to wait for my Huawei modem to arrive from Shopee. This post has been edited by RedShirt: Nov 5 2019, 04:01 PM |

No, their sim can work on phones (data only, no calling function)btw, i ask tm, she said this sim cannot put inside phone, only can use ny modem. its true? It works on my spare phones, Galaxy S8+ and iPhone 7. But for some reasons, I cannot enable Hotspot option on the iPhone (it says to ask carrier to enable setting). No issue for my Galaxy to enable Hotspot. Signal feels kinda weak and slow. Maybe because my place (condo) is on the 27th floor, further away from the tower. My usual Maxis and Digi lines are also slow up here. Just order my 4G modem, hopefully it will be better. |

So far, the speed at my condo (27th floor) is quite poor and weak, although on their website, I am inside the coverage. Depending on where I place the portable modem, i get 1-2 bars (full is 4 bars) and speed is slower than I expected. Averaging around 5-7mbps. Funny thing, when I go back to my family home (landed house) which is NOT in coverage (according to their website), I get full bars and average speed is around 18mbps. I went ahead and order another Huawei modem (not portable) and see if their receiver can pick up better signal strength at my condo. |

Unifi air running on band 5 (850Mhz)/40 (2300Mhz) or maybe 38 (2600Mhz) on any network types regardless, but also depending on your area/location; Most of the time unifi air connect to band5, sometimes switched to Band 40 at my area. When choose a router, make sure the Wifi/Mobile Router is unlock if you plan to subscribe SIM only. I'm using Huawei e5885ls-93a WIFI 2Pro. How to choose correct 4G Mobile router, check the spec of network type. If you not sure which mobile router to choose, select the spec contain all bands but it will cost double the price. LTE FDD:B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B19 LTE TDD:B38/B40/B41(2555-2655MHz) UMTS:B1/B2/B4/B5/B6/B8/B19 ---> This is 3G, you can see only band 5 support 3G if no signal on 4G GSM:B2/B3/B8/B5 If you want to know which BAND connect by Unifi at your area, test with any latest mobile phone, install "Network Cell info Lite" from google play. see attached. https://pictr.com/images/2019/11/09/58fB8Z.md.jpg |

Hi,
Any recommended router to use for Unifi Air if I don't want to sign the 2 year contract? As I see the price of 618s-65d is quite pricey. |

I'm not sure what is my problem but it shows that the Unifi Air is connected but sometimes my Internet is stuck on loading or an error in detecting Internet will come up. The Unifi Air is placed next to my computer and transmitting wirelessly.
Furthermore, since I have other devices (iPhones, tablets and laptops) some will be connecting fine while others are stuck with the error messages. No idea what is wrong. Speedwise it's waaay better than Streamyx but connectivity wise it's poor. |

In my case it's band 40,40. ![]() (Please ignore the 0Mbps speeds, clearly a glitch happened there) As far as speeds go this is what I got. Normally around 50-60Mbps, and can go to 80+Mbps off peak. Not too shabby for the price. I'm satisfied. Huawei B618s-65d is still going be to much better than MR600, I've seen some people get over 100Mbps with that. But you'll have to cough up the money if you don't take the contract. |

unable to figure out how to connect to 3g/H+ using Unifi Air
what band, apn to use? set auto but modem says signal excellent but cant connect reason i want to use H+ is because to avoid congestion at night. 4g day speed is good > 20Mbps but night ~5Mbps This post has been edited by evilsmile: Nov 16 2019, 10:46 AM |

Last month, I shared the speedtest for my unifi air that I just registered for my office. It was 3x Mbps. Now after a month with 2xx GB usage, I find myself stucked at around 7-12Mbps. What a huge difference. I dont know what happened but the signal strength for 20mhz drop like hell to between 0-2. I turned on B5+B40 10mhz and signal strength could reach 8. If B5 only, then even worse 3mbps.
Although I'm complaining, but it's not like I had any other choice since my boss self developed this factory. Pulling fibre from the nearest point cost over RM10k. Paying RM79 now is much better than the RM99 1Mbps streamyx we used to pay. Yes, you heard me right, 1Mbps for RM99. |

Also does Unifi Air and Unifi mobile share the same 4G/LTE cell towers? because on Unifi Mobile coverage check the 4G coverage is A LOT while on Unifi Air coverage check is it tiny.

Hi guys, can the unifi air sim card put on phone and use for hotspot and as normal bring around mobile data anywhere we go as long as there are coverage?
Or the unifi air can only use at home (registered address or anywhere else with coverage as hotspot or tethering with phone/router? Anf is there any speed cap for unifi air as of unifi bebas at around 8mbps? When I read through the threat some people say got cap while some say no cap. |

QUOTE(boygenetic @ Nov 26 2019, 08:40 AM) quick question, if only getting the Unifi Air Sim Card, i have to pay RM79, correct? Air u need to pay 100 for the upfront if u took the sim only. If u wan the device have to be bind by 24 month contract. OR should i just try with #bebas prepaid? feedback appreciated. The upfront will be use to deduct your monthly payment. |
