i asked TM about it at Twitter and they just told me to wait for their sales team to call me back... no idea how it works and how to apply, for now....

Well, kindly wait for their public announcement, maybe around August, which just 1~2 weeks from now.

My house currently using Streamyx 4Mbps (RM140/month). Been asking and waiting for Unifi to be available but nothing. And last week Unifi call and promote this Unifi Air (1 Month Free Trail). RM79/Month and Unlimited.

The speed so far very stable and satisfied

You would have to hand it to TM for such a slow roll out of any packages without any consolidation or plans.

Last I'd heard from a TM Point while trying to purchases a B618, tests are already being run at KL and expanding, but only limited to customers that are subscribed to the Streamyx package and offered through phone calls.
The representative asked me to wait for around a month which is more or less starting today.

I don't think so. It's slightly different.

Since TM has responded to me that the band or spectrum that Unifi AIR uses and unifi mobile is different, they said that even if I have 4G+ connection on my phone doesn't mean Unifi AIR coverage is available for me.

They just told me to check here for coverage

I can't wait for this too since my office is stuck with 1mbps. Even a 5-10mbps is hella better than what I'm currently paying for.

Yes, this is a joke, i dont understand why they dare to call this as solution! i called to 100, she told me UNIFI AIR only covered limited area...they have a list to stated which area/taman having this "AIR" coverage, she checked through the list and told me my area is not fall under the it, according to her it could be either not under coverage (no signal/or very poor signal) or not stable connection area (thats why not in the list). And she told me TM will expand the "Air" coverage is future, which i think is stupid answer like what they did for Unifi Fiber (ask customer to wait, but nothing happen even after few years of time)

just got mine few weeks ago. 1 month trial for free, they offered me via phone call.

if i pass 30 days trial period without abt dissatisfaction they will consider id agree to sign up for 2 year contract, and auto terminate my streamyx.

the router given is Huawei B618 (65d), a 4G router capable of 600Mbps downstream and 100Mbps upstream
this router also capable of dual band wifi too, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

packed with 2x gigabit LAN port (1 for LAN another is for WAN),
1x usb port for file sharing,
2x ts9 port for external outdoor 4G antenna
the unifi sim is already inserted in the sim slot, with a sticker seal (to avoid tampering maybe?)

the speedtest seems good, around 20mbit+ down, around 3~8mbit up,

the ping however seems not so stable. sometimes 40ms+, sometimes spike 100ms+, thats what to be expected from 4G LTE right?

definitely no problem for streaming 1080p on youtube/netflix, not quite 4K ready though. online gaming is also great, dota 2, cs go, pubg etc..

compared to my current 8mb streamyx, 7.8mbit down, 0.5mbit up. ping around 40ms+, its definitely a good bargain.

my concern is, is it reliable to replace my streamyx? im more confident with streamyx since it is wired based, while unifi air is based on 4G LTE, may prone to congestions issue ( i think )

apart for relying on wireless 4G LTE, unifi air is undeniably offer alot of advantage, especially with upload speed is at least 10x higher compared to streamyx,

35,000 out of the 900 thousand Streamyx users will only benefit from such a transition? That's not even 5%.
Not to mention the crap coverage this package is offering.
Short term wise it's fine, since there's a significant upgrade in speed.
Long term it is definitely not, compared to fibre or other wireless options in the market.

Unifi Air will be the same or very similar like the usual 4G LTE service you used by usual telcos like Maxis, Celcom, Digi, U Mobile....
The coverage is expanding, but not everywhere yet, and it definitely takes time.

If Unifi Air is not available in your area yet, I would advise to give up considering about that, and go for other telcos (e.g. Digi, Yes 4G LTE, U Mobile) that has better 4G service in your area and subscribe to their wireless broadband plans, whichever suits your data usage and budget.

Or stick to Streamyx (Unifi Lite) for the speed up to 8Mbps, and RM69/month. There's isn't much you could do.

Not a big fan of TM right now. Their representative are just incompetent and useless.
Complaints are also useless as they will just say no fibre coverage or TDD coverage in your area, so just wait till "God" knows when and then if you're still interested.

my house when i first moved in i have two years without unifi, it is so suffering to have no fibre broadband nowadays.

lucky i have unifi at my house now. with fast internet speed at home, one can really have a lot more free entertainment at home.

think will forget about it at this point unless the price is really rm79. still hope maxis and celcom to come out with real unlimited data plan even the price is higher. they are the only two telcos can really make it.

I'm used to having their turbo-ed speeds @800Mbps and now they expect me to use 8 Mbps line? Compromises were made since their useless representatives told me to wait for their Unifi AIR since early July.

Doesn't Maxis have that MaxisONE plan where it's unlimited as well? Don't think Celcom has one.

no le. maxis only has limited data plan. maximum is 60gb at rm188 with unlimited calls and sms. no unlimited data.

I see. view quest their plan is indeed attractive. symmetric speed is indeed good. But check out their website, the coverage is damn limited, only few apartments are available. u are lucky to have the coverage.

It makes a huge difference, especially when you have multiple desktops hooked up to the network plus a NAS.
Yes, torrenting is absolutely fine, I could usually hit 90% of the bandwidth mostly with multiple downloads, do note that you need a better router for that.

It doesn't serve its point for being an "interim" solution by just covering 35,000 Streamyx users, what about the other 900,000 users out there?
Just wait till 2021 to be fully upgraded to a fibre infrastructure and continue to pay "discounted" prices for the next 2 years?

I think u should stay for RM69 without contract and opt for fibre in future, rather than using unifi air if ping issues and congestion problem matter to u
. cuz i use 4g broadband too, no congestion no prob very syiok but when at night a lot of ppl use digi congestion prevails then it became horrifying to use . unless u got plan to swap in and out the sim to use for phone, the portability of unifi air is good, but i will keep at RM69 for reliability

It's all bullshit from TM. They called me and when I asked if I can get Unifi Air, nope not available. Upgrade my 4mbps to 8mbps also nada. In the end I'm still being unfairly charged while other people enjoy better speed.

For me I will take off their sim card and use Maxis sim card.

sad news. just contacted them. confirmed it is more or less same as unifi mobile. so no public ip for me. cctv and home server wont work with unifi air.

Can't expect much from Unifi nor TM.

Just another excuse for them not to lay fibre. Fibre solution is better in the long run. Why can't they accept that?

They will. But that isn't a "solution" for either the TM or the consumers to not receive fibre infrastructure ASAP.
They are just great at delaying anything and everything.

In the past, TM gave PSTN number to wireless users.
Unifi Air is Fixed-Wireless, not really mobile.

46ms to only a local server is a big NO!

As comparison with fibre, you are expected to get <10ms pings on local servers. It makes a huge difference when gaming and even watching live streaming videos.

No one knows. TM have a lot of great plans and executed poorly.

This is just a stopgap solution to improve Internet connectivity for non Unifi areas.

I am not confident with their 4G network considering how spotty the coverage is right now. It will take at least 2 years with high level of commitment to even match Umobile.

What kind of modem are you even using now? What package or kind of subscription?
But the Huawei B618 is the best of it's kind, no doubt it is gonna help a bit.

The coverage is too restricting. Not to mention the absurb pricing for new subscriptions.

Even with local test servers, 4G would only yield around 20+ms response time. That is totally unsuitable for gaming or live video streaming.
