why so less coverage on this? has it launched? i wanna use it at my office and can carry it back home since no one using at home when im not around...save cost...no need to buy so many internet plans
*
You would have to hand it to TM for such a slow roll out of any packages without any consolidation or plans.

Last I'd heard from a TM Point while trying to purchases a B618, tests are already being run at KL and expanding, but only limited to customers that are subscribed to the Streamyx package and offered through phone calls.
The representative asked me to wait for around a month which is more or less starting today.

My house currently using Streamyx 4Mbps (RM140/month). Been asking and waiting for Unifi to be available but nothing. And last week Unifi call and promote this Unifi Air (1 Month Free Trail). RM79/Month and Unlimited.

The speed so far very stable and satisfied

Darn. Where are you currently located?
Any more details about the B618 though? Is it locked?

It's worse than expected?
Limited coverage, limited offers and no "new" subscriptions?

QUOTE
According to TM, there are approximately 35,000 Streamyx customers that are within their TDD-LTE coverage and TM will be contacting these customers to offer them the option to upgrade.

Hi all, would like to ask is unifi air using same sim card as unifi mobile? i mean izit same platform using cellular network for data? thanks
*
I don't think so. It's slightly different.

Since TM has responded to me that the band or spectrum that Unifi AIR uses and unifi mobile is different, they said that even if I have 4G+ connection on my phone doesn't mean Unifi AIR coverage is available for me.

They just told me to check here for coverage

the blue colour one consider covered?
*
Yeah. Limited, very limited coverage.
And how do you expect that to be a "solution" while waiting for actual fiber infrastructure.

Do try, but the TM representative said they would personally call and make the offer, but god knows when right?

It's a terrible "solution", hardly benefiting anyone?
35,000 out of the 900 thousand Streamyx users will only benefit from such a transition? That's not even 5%.
Not to mention the crap coverage this package is offering.
Short term wise it's fine, since there's a significant upgrade in speed.
Long term it is definitely not, compared to fibre or other wireless options in the market.

I was waiting for this Unifi Air, but it’s sad because my area 4g LTE without TDD Spectrum. Stuck with 8mbps forever...
*
Typical response from TM. No coverage means it's pointless.
Gonna be stuck with Streamyx till 2021?

actually quite a good plan for its price and speed, most importantly, it is unlimited.

will sign up for one if it is released to general public.
*
Do note that for new subscriptions are priced at RM129, not the "discounted" RM79.
Isn't it better to take other unlimited plans?

Whether it's pricing, speed or coverage, TM is definitely a loser in ever single segment. Still can't accept that this is a viable solution for most Streamyx users.

wah... how come rm129?

if rm129 certainly not worth it. might as well go for other unlimited plan.

but too bad i dun like DxGx. I only consider Maxis and Celcom if it is unlimited plan. other telcos all cannot make it even it is unlimited.
*
QUOTE
The plan, which comes with unlimited data with an average speed of 20Mbps (megabits per second), is priced at RM79 a month for existing Streamyx customers while new users will have to pay RM129.

Depending on your area I guess? Some areas with better coverage will definitely benefit.

Not a big fan of TM right now. Their representative are just incompetent and useless. ranting.gif
Complaints are also useless as they will just say no fibre coverage or TDD coverage in your area, so just wait till "God" knows when and then if you're still interested.

true. indeed.

my house when i first moved in i have two years without unifi, it is so suffering to have no fibre broadband nowadays.

lucky i have unifi at my house now. tongue.gif  with fast internet speed at home, one can really have a lot more free entertainment at home.

think will forget about it at this point unless the price is really rm79. still hope maxis and celcom to come out with real unlimited data plan even the price is higher. they are the only two telcos can really make it.
*
Yup, I do agree.
I'm used to having their turbo-ed speeds @800Mbps and now they expect me to use 8 Mbps line? Compromises were made since their useless representatives told me to wait for their Unifi AIR since early July.

Doesn't Maxis have that MaxisONE plan where it's unlimited as well? Don't think Celcom has one.

no le. maxis only has limited data plan. maximum is 60gb at rm188 with unlimited calls and sms. no unlimited data.
*
Because I see people "renting" their Maxis SIM cards with unlimited data in the forums.

Is it true if i apply unifi mobile broadband https://unifi.com.my/personal/home/wireless-broadband

before 31 ogos. after 1 sept, tm convert become unifi air rm79 unlimited?
*
Nope. Because they stopped the plan since early July or even earlier?
While their webpage still states that the plan was available at "selected" TMPoint(s) which was a huge scam and a waste of time to go there.

After constant complaints and reports to MCMC, they only change the website to "Out of Stock"

35K in coverage out of nearly 1 million Streamyx user...only 28% people eligible to apply Unifi Air...this shown how ignorant and outdated TM are...If PH dint push TM for MSAP...Cannot imagine how long TM plan to feast onthe corpses of pity Streamyx User (RM160 for 8Mbps...)
*
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it's even 28%, it's actually 2.8% if you counted it as 1 million Streamyx users.
(35,000/1,000,000)*100 = 3.5%, hardly making a dent. Can we also just pay 5% of our current bills then?

Yes, it's not a "solution" as claimed by that darn TM. mad.gif

that one is becos they have both maxis postpaid and maxis broadband. so they get their maxis postpaid line free with unlimited data.
*
Haha, yeah and since you have Unifi Fibre coverage, you can opt for Maxis Fibre and then get that plan as well? Win-win

still within contract. maybe after that will considers

but maxis broadband seems to have more complaints over unif. So will be hesitate to do it also.

have been using unifi for years, no issues so far. Scare change to maxis broadband and end up with more hassles.
*
Not too sure about the complaints, guessing it's also affected by the area.
Pros and cons right?

I've migrated from Unifi to TIME and now to ViewQuest, like who doesn't love symmetrical upload and download speeds?

true. just for broadband port out to other telcos again will get tied up with 24 months contract again. if speed/experience is not satisfactory, will be vormitting blood for long time.

I tot you said u are using unifi 800Mbps now?
*
Used to. And there's contract buyout options, so why not?
But 1Gbps is too much of a temptation not to switch right? Prices are "cheaper" too.
*data hording addiction as well

I see. view quest their plan is indeed attractive. symmetric speed is indeed good. But check out their website, the coverage is damn limited, only few apartments are available. u are lucky to have the coverage.

besides, does 800Mbps/1Gbps make significant difference in real life comparing to 100Mbps?

for example, for torrent etc, can get full speed?
*
Yes, I sort of rented that apartment just for that! haha

It makes a huge difference, especially when you have multiple desktops hooked up to the network plus a NAS.
Yes, torrenting is absolutely fine, I could usually hit 90% of the bandwidth mostly with multiple downloads, do note that you need a better router for that.

UniFi Air bad name choice for wireless broadband service

it sound like low cost airlines carrier like malindo air, lion air, ryani air, tiger air, nok air, peach air
*
Names or branding are just optional, but the service provided is just crap.
It doesn't serve its point for being an "interim" solution by just covering 35,000 Streamyx users, what about the other 900,000 users out there?
Just wait till 2021 to be fully upgraded to a fibre infrastructure and continue to pay "discounted" prices for the next 2 years?

Just another excuse for them not to lay fibre. Fibre solution is better in the long run. Why can't they accept that?
*
They don't really care it seems, as long as they can delay, they will.
As their motto isn't #khabarbaik or #satupeluang, it's more like #nocoverage
I can't even start to think this as an solution and "force" us to wait till 2021 for full fibre infrastructure?
