QUOTE(faiz5200 @ Sep 25 2019, 10:29 AM) Can you check which band it use? My area also no coverage even though im using unifi mobile with good speed. Since sim only is without contract, u can terminate it and subscribe again for the device bundle plan. HahahaBtw, if I subscribe to unifi air (sim only), can I take the router(with contract) later? I want to try it with my phone first to check the speed. Cant risk to take the router first because I heard to cancel contract need to pay a lot |

QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Oct 6 2019, 12:03 PM) I forgot to mention that my phone only support band 5. The thing is I just move to this place, and no Streamyx or Unifi. So far, here are my options with pro and con; Find some one who is maxis one prime user and sub 1 line to you. Problem solved. Hahaha1) Unifi Air Pro: 79/ month. Kinda fast for daily usage compare to my wife's Maxis hotspot although Speedtest not as good as Maxis. Now I'm typing this from the hotspot too. Con: Still unsure of the signal strength. I was hoping B618 65D will improve this and poor signal is cause by my phone. 2) Celcom Pro: Proven good coverage, although Speedtest is more or less with UA. Somehow there's glimpse of hope for the 50Gb because of the Video and Music Walla. Con: At the same time, I'm afraid that 50GB is not enough for us all while 150GB, RM150/ month cost me two month of UA. I think my sweet spot is 100GB. Plus very congested Celcom broadband coverage here according to the CS but excellent 4G coverage. He said the 4G for these two is different, and I really hope this is marketing only. 3) Yoodo Pro: Only Rm98/ month for 100GB data only, interesting add-on. Con: I wonder if I can use mobile sim data as wireless broadband with B618 as a router? 4) Maxis Pro: Excellent 4G coverage, good Speedtest, aceptable speed and more stable than UA at least. Con: The official broadband is very expensive compared to Celcom. I notice got unlimited data and hotspot for rent 130/ month but is it usable in a router and Rm130/ month is a tad cheaper than 150GB Celcom. While I do realized that Speedtest doesn't reflect the real world, what bother me is the consumption for whole household. So far parents only use for Whatsapp and Youtube, wife more on social media and online K drama while me planning to connect smart TV to the internet, downloading series, movies, and sometimes app. Hmmm... Confused. |

QUOTE(RedShirt @ Oct 8 2019, 06:25 PM) Got some mixed ideas as I read through all the pages. Yes, my make sure your phone supports band 5 LTE.Can we use the Unifi Air sim card in our phone? I want to test the signal strength out using my phone first, without going through the 24-months contract. I stay on the 27th floor of my condo. My phone (Digi) receptions are a bit spotty, so if Unifi Air is the same, then no point for me to get it. |

QUOTE(RedShirt @ Nov 5 2019, 09:11 PM) No, their sim can work on phones (data only, no calling function) Do share your experience with the 4g modem. Thank in advance. It works on my spare phones, Galaxy S8+ and iPhone 7. But for some reasons, I cannot enable Hotspot option on the iPhone (it says to ask carrier to enable setting). No issue for my Galaxy to enable Hotspot. Signal feels kinda weak and slow. Maybe because my place (condo) is on the 27th floor, further away from the tower. My usual Maxis and Digi lines are also slow up here. Just order my 4G modem, hopefully it will be better. |

QUOTE(RedShirt @ Nov 8 2019, 04:14 PM) Thanks for sharing. Thank you thank you. Do share your Huawei modem experience. I am thinking to buy 1 Huawei modem in future. But no budget now.My portable 4g modem (the traveling pocket kind) has arrived. So far, the speed at my condo (27th floor) is quite poor and weak, although on their website, I am inside the coverage. Depending on where I place the portable modem, i get 1-2 bars (full is 4 bars) and speed is slower than I expected. Averaging around 5-7mbps. Funny thing, when I go back to my family home (landed house) which is NOT in coverage (according to their website), I get full bars and average speed is around 18mbps. I went ahead and order another Huawei modem (not portable) and see if their receiver can pick up better signal strength at my condo. |

QUOTE(wolf1991 @ Dec 3 2019, 09:39 AM) Thanks for your suggestion but to clarify I am not maxis fiber user. Ya in forum I saw some complaint regarding maxis fiber performance but surprisingly I have some friends and family using it and they said no problem so far. Maxis is using TM fibres backbone, so technically, there are no different between maxis and unifi. Only difference is when u encounter problem, u need to wait for both parties to fix for u which may caused further delay .I guess they have both happy and unhappy customer, just that only those unhappy will complaint and make it seem like a lot of people complaining while those happy with it just been quiet. BTW, currently I am unifi air user but if one day I decided to sign up for home fiber, I don't mind give maxis fiber a chance if they are giving good value. |

QUOTE(boygenetic @ Dec 22 2019, 12:28 PM) bumping up as i want to know too. is it a deposit or registration fee (nonrefundable)? Since celcom network is ok. Why not using it?? on the same topic, my hometown's internet is tooooooooooooooo slow. i cant even watch a YT video without buffering. Can someone recommend me the cheapest, i mean the absolute cheapest modem for testing. is the huawei B593 the cheapest???? I have a celcom prepaid and the speed as below [attachmentid=10376192] my dad subscribed to unifi mobile and the speed is absolutely horrible. do i need to bother testing out Unifi Air? [attachmentid=10376191] BTW, I start to love unifi air now, slow but stable, I can get ard 6 to 10 mbps download speed which I still can than a bit. Unlike Maxshit 4g, very moody, sometime can go up to 12mbps but worst case ard 2 mbps only |
