For further information please press zero "0"). This is a machine who speak to me not a human being. I quickly call MBB CS and they confirm i dont owe them $$$ and CS also said they dont have predictive dialing to call customer for outstanding reminder ak1977

Calls from the bank are normal. Normally for promotions, verifications and etc. If they ever ask your personal details, do not panic - ask why and for which particular transaction are they checking up on. (You should know your own transaction coz if not then please stop using your card because obviously you don't know how to use it safely) And ask them to identify themselves - 80% of the time the screening will end here, telemarketers will mumble the word and genuine calls from the bank will speak clearly to identify themselves.

They should be able to answer this (transaction) because that is the main reason they are calling you anyway. (95% of the time) In other cases, should you request to change anything on your cc account, a verification will be requested as well.

TS, please be careful on how you set your topic as there are noobs readers here and will think all calls from Citibank/All banks are like that. I have amended it because the one you have set is misleading.

Such calls can even come from a 'displayed' number. The rule here is to filter these calls via the pattern they exhibit and NOT via whether or not they are 'Unknown' calls.

Regarding this matter, especially when the "banks" call to ask for personal details, my friend have this nice habit of asking which department they're calling from & then insist that she'll call them back shortly.

When she calls back, she'll call the Bank's general line & asked to be forwarded to the particular department. At least this way, you'll be 109% sure that you're talking to the bank. Unless you dailed the wrong general line number

Just my humble comment ... it will be difficult to read every single post to make a reference of the fake calls. Just received a call myself today ... and I got pretty annoyed very quickly on how rampant this fake calls is ... simply because there's no regulations to prevent our personal information from being used/resell for telemarketing purposes.

Perhaps TS would like to think of a way to consolidate the numbers (confirmed fakes) somehow.

last few days my wife got a call from "Private Number" telling her that her last CC transaction cannot be process. They need to confirm with her by asking her real name, IC number and credit card number...

Juz wanna share, i received a call from 0147283088. A lady was on the line claiming she is from Takaful Islam credit card plan that cover all bank in malaysia (something like that,i couldn remember the exact detail) She said, due to a lot of cc fraud, they want to verify my card for something and was asking me whether i hv a credit card or not, from which bank, mastercard or visa.

Then she want to know my cc expiry date to which i decline to give.
The best part is, when i refuse to cooperate, she then said tht if u dont wanna coop, she will deduct the amount rm98 from my cc and juz like tht hang up the phone. Curios, anybody experience anything like tht?

I got a call from a predictive dialing machines (or IVR you may call it) +603-2252 4408 speaking in Mandarin and saying "Dear Customer your credit card statement balance RM XXXX.XX was overdue. please pay the necessary. For further information please press zero "0"). This is a machine who speak to me not a human being.

I hold on the call for a while, the message will just keep repeating and to my surprice the outstanding balance was the same as my previous balance . Knowing that i always pay on time and never late, i was preparing to "shoot" the collection staff if MBB mistakenly did something to my account.

Just when i press the zero button and see what they are going to tell me to call was transferred to a Chinese Guy who speak Mandarin ( no standard greating also ) and the moment he pick up the phone its does not sounds like local chinese. Then i noticed something is wrong and i pretend i dont understand mandarin i need to speak to some in english. This guy just hang up my call.

I quickly call MBB CS and they confirm i dont owe them $$$ and CS also said they dont have predictive dialing to call customer for outstanding reminder. It a syndicate. BECAREFUL. This syndicate is getting more advance, using a system dialing and make it like you really calling from the Bank...

What happen next, their Fraud dept quickly call me to check how it happen and so on to see whether they can track this people or not and he said the number# appear in my phone cant get thru.

Please Take Note:

1. Any predictive dialer who call you sure will read out the CS phone# or Collection phone# and also got standard greating. They should have someone who can speak English.

This is dangerous. How do they manage to find out the outstanding balance amount anyway. Mandarin speaking CS is a giveway though.

received a call 2 weeks ago from a girl claiming she is working for a card protection company.. quite suspicious about the package as she kept asking me to subscribe through phone and obviously i checked the related company subscription method..

how can they know ur previous balance? a leak from MBB perhaps

If i'm not wrong, MBB outsource the statement printing side. Anyone can confirm this, now the case is beyong me and it with the fraud department to investigate further.

on monday, 9 may, 11.18 am, a chinese guy who can speak proper english, says he is calling on behalf of ocbc wanted to get customer feedback - phone number 03 2297 7700 - but i wasn't free, then he say will call me back the next day, which didn't

anyway, i don't know if this is considered suspicious call or not.....

can anyone confirm this is genuine?

Just some tips about handling all this kind of Tele-marketing calls from the banks, under the new credit card guidelines for marketing practices that Banks should allow the cardholder to opt out for all kinds of telemarketing activities eventhough when u sign the applicaition it say the banks have the right to refer your detail to their business related vendor.

Secondly there is a timeframe for all this kind of call to the customer. it must between 9am till 9pm ONLY. no more no less.

Luckily, I do check the number from web first. Else wastes my money 'cos I'm oversea.

Now I practice not to pick up call that not in my phone book while I'm out of country.

Today i received a call from this number 0196233864 claiming they from Zest Malaysia Sdn Bhd and saying ive been chosen to get a discount card for free and blablabla and asking my credit card number. Luckily I realised earlier that they are lying, and i started toying around with the caller and told him all false information of my profile and my credit no and we were talking about 30 minutes untull he realised it and was mad at me coz i wasted his time. Haha.

received a call (2 weeks ago) from similar number 0322977700, but from Maybank, she want to do some research..
said that I'm busy and asked her to call again and she did.. but, i just ignored the call...

wah, those guys doing research for so many banks ar Either way, yah, better don't waste your time talking to them as they are not from the banks.

I recently applied for Maybank 2 Card. On the second day after i received SMS confirmation on the approval of my card, I received a call from this number 0162627650. The lady told me she called to check if I have received my CC via pos laju as they posted it 2 days ago. She also took the opportunity to "educate" me that my new CC must be activated before use. I was working so I told her that I have not received the card and if it was sent to my house that day, then I do not know the status. The call ended.

After I received the card, I call to Maybank hotline for activation and been using the card for 1 week until yesterday. I received the call again. Again, she asked me if I have received the card. She claimed she was calling on behalf of Maybank to check my status. I told her I have already activated my card last week. Then she proceed to said that because of my Maybank 2 card, i am entitle for another card, pay 1 time fee and free for life.

The name of the card is Kad Celebriti which will entitle me for hotel, flight ticket discount, free car towing service, insurance and many other things. The fee I need to pay is ONLY RM499. I sensed something is not right so I asked her if this card is a product of Maybank. Now, she hesitated and answered NO. I told her I will call her back if I am interested which I am not.

The thing here is that, she seems to know so much on my application and approval of my card. She also know the type of card, my age, etc.

This is definately insider's job. Selling our private info to third party.

realizing that I have been cheated, I call the Maybank hotline right away to cancel my card. I also filed a fraud case report to them telling my card info had been compromised. Following that, my card was cancelled by the bank but yet it is still charged under new card. I call Maybank again and they are investigating this matter. I also called Wawasan Takaful (WT) to cancel my subscription telling that their agent is persuading me to subscribe to the insurance policy in the wrong way. At first they were hesitating and try con me that this cannot be cancelled as the charge has been made. Then I went furious over the phone and they will cancel the subscription. And I told them I had lodged a report to Maybank telling their company is trying to fraud me. Just now I received call from WT telling that my subscription had been cancelled and the charged will be credited back into my account.

So guys, lesson learnt from here is never give any information for verification or 'pengesahan' or confirmation before you know that you want their service. In the simplest word, never give any information or subscribe to any service via phone. Thank you.

A good lesson indeed. As for my case, at first the caller (spoke to me in Malay) asked for my card expiry date. I see no harm letting him know since the caller was helping to stop an authorized transaction.

But, I became suspicious when he asked for my card no. next. From that point, I started questioning him to verify the authenticity of his identity. He was getting fed up and threatened to let the transaction went through if I didn''t co-operate with him. I told him off. If he did that, I will complain to BNM. Then, he hung up.

One question playing on my mind now is how he could have got my full name and mobile number information? Who leaked it to him?

hi i'm new here. can someone please check this number for me? 0125278353. just got one call from a male, claiming he's from some blablabla (didn't hear it well). he said i was chosen for two special cards from tourism ministry (heh?) because i used my maybank debit card. he asked about my occupation, age (i just layan and answered those questions) and when he asked for my card expiry date, i got suspicous. at that point i know it was a scam. what really made me mad is how he get my name, phone number, and i have a maybank debit card (i just used it once).

Today, i have received one call from this number 03-78625680 claiming from HLA for mastercard holder offering bla bla PA insurance. Once he explain bla bla offer, without a doubt i thought it's a scam and don't want to reveal anything related to my card info. I pressed for more verification about this supposely HLA (ask him to send me the prospectus of PA and as usual, offer is valid for phone conversation ) and he gave this number 0376501288 which i called and confirm it's from HLA call center number.

Later, i called my bank and ask them about this supposed offer ( just for fun) . They told me there is no such deal for mastercard holder.

Nowadays, have to be aware of those trick and scam. i rather have the prospectus in my hand at my leisure time to read it then talking on the phone for buying any kind of insurance

My colleague (Maybankard2 CC holder) received a call from 016 262 4598, trying to sell the same Kad Selebriti. Even after ending the call multiple times, they still call back.
Colleague lodge a report to MBB and getting a new CC replacement.
No sensitive information was leaked to them.

received a call from 03-78491000 yesterday morning! it was a Malay lady claiming that she called from Prudential, selling a protection plan! I already told her I was not interested as I already got my own insurance coverage but she kept talking non-stop! I had to lie to her that I was in a meeting then only she hung up! just a few minutes ago I received two calls from 03-78491300 (I believe from the same company) but I didn't answer! scam!

wah, same number as in first post. now prudential. But you should have pick up the second call too and find out what they say

Received a call from 0327727300 this morning, claiming she is from pengurusan kad palsu, Bank Negara Malaysia.
Just laugh and tell her to fxxk off because she try to con me which telling I have a Aeon credit card which already being used up the CL of 10k and did not make any payment since 3 months ago.
By the way already confirmed with Aeon side and my name is not even in their system.

2) from 0166263949, today @ 02:56 PM - this time, I just entertained her a bit (introducing herself as Amanda, her accent is like Indian - not intending to spark racial issue here) and ask me to verify my IC number for security reasons. WTF? I replied that if there is any issue with my card, the bank will call me and I said I am working right now. The suddenly she said "Ooooo, so u ni menteri besarlah? Bodoh punya orang!" and she hung up. Damn that women! I'm very furious right now!

But from these two calls, none of my personal details are given (I bet they already have mine, but need to verify)~ damn la these scammers!

I also received similar call from 03-78625622, he claimed he's from Mastercard sales and Marketing department, offered HLA saving insurance as thanks for using Master card service.I knew that this is definitely a scam as I don't have credit card at all!!!! LOL... Added to this, he need my age & BMI to check whether I meet the criteria for this insurance.

Please beware as he very persistent (or should I say aggressive) ........

received 2 calls claiming to be from takaful for my credit card PA Personal assurance. they got my IC and my name correct. at first they told me is 0 charge as it is complimentary with my card. but in the end the lady said need to deduct rm250 from my account for this.

i got the lady number, their CS number, and also her so-called manager number.

the lady number is 0162160736 (malay), CS number is 03-41481053, manager number is 016-2057053

can anyone shed some light on this?

I think this thread deserve better visibility as it helps our readers to detect fake calls due to unscrupulous sharing (and unauthorized) of our personal information to marketeers.

Pin it up and if anyone have any objections to this please let me know.

BTW ... as the thread title says ... phone numbers only. If any phone numbers are being wrongly accused, please let me know.

I won't say it is a fake call since they inform you up front that they are from takaful. But complimentary with card, that is BS unless you get promo pamphlet from your credit card issuer or they advertise in the newspaper. Anyaway, call up your card issuer to confirm.

Now the thing is, why would anyone want to buy insurance or anything over the phone when you cannot verify if the call is genuine. Actually, this month and last month I did receive calls where they will introduce themself from insurance company, straight away I will say not interested, and usually they will ask why and I will say that "I tak ada duit, dah henti kerja" and with that they will just hang up.

Beware if you get a call from this number 016 6263171. Same modus operandi which has been reported here before.

She claimed to call from Wawasan Takaful and told me her name is Tasha. She got my full name correct. Then, asked me if my MBB Visa is still active.

From that point, I know this is another hoax call because I have terminated it a couple of months ago.

She said she wanted to "buat pengesahan sahaja" and asked for my card expiry date.

today i got a call from this number 0163364087
asking whether did i receive my CC already not
since i'm request to send to my house and only went back on weekend so didnt get to check yet
then after that she trying to ask where am i working currently, which work did i do and bla bla bla

then told here very busy right now and promise me with return call but till now no news from her d

anyone receive any call from this number before??
p/s: i'm applied for MM2 card

1. Did she say where she's from?
2. Where you apply your MBB 2 cards? If you apply at booths in the malls, sometimes the staff are not MBB staff but agents (i.e. not employed by the bank). Did you ask how she knew you applied for the card?
3. If she is from MBB, she can check the system and see your employment records. So most probably she got no access to MBB system and therefore not MBB staff.

but she did mention she calling from mbb

but since the time she call, i was busy so didnt ask much and answer much to her

why the girl so free use her handphone. If she really from MBB, either MBB customer service is very good that they follow up with their customers... which I doubt it OR she got some other agenda asking you personal questions like where you working.

AND just to let you know, MBB 2 Cards DO NOT need activation and can be used immediately staright from the envelope.

If it is really the same scam, you will receive another call again in few days time provided the caller have not gave-up.

Got a call from this number +60 16 262 7654 (not in the list yet) saying she offering me a VIP card since I'm a credit card holder. Told her not interested and not to call me anymore. Then she just say "We just going to put your name under KIV" and rudely hung up on me. WT....
