Dear All Maybank Credit Card Holder Beware,

I got a call from a predictive dialing machines (or IVR you may call it) +603-2252 4408 speaking in Mandarin and saying "Dear Customer your credit card statement balance RM XXXX.XX was overdue. please pay the necessary. For further information please press zero "0"). This is a machine who speak to me not a human being.

I hold on the call for a while, the message will just keep repeating and to my surprice the outstanding balance was the same as my previous balance  shocking.gif  . Knowing that i always pay on time and never late, i was preparing to "shoot" the collection staff if MBB mistakenly did something to my account.
how can they know ur previous balance? a leak from MBB perhaps

**post modified

Was reporting a possible scam just now but turned out it wasn't. The number is 03-2772 0300 and really belongs to a Maybankard credit card department. Thought something was fishy because when i called the number, i received an automated message saying that this number is not in service. However, when i called Maybank just now, i was given two numbers and one is the number written above  sweat.gif

I just received a phone scam, I believe from a so-called consultant of Prudential who wanted to make a deal with me over the phone.  He insisted that no signature was necessary and that voice recordings were sufficient.  His name was

Adnan Bin Che Mok, 820724-11-5115, work ID 07442.  (At least as claimed by him).

He was offering me a PruMyCare that pays a premium of RM58 a month for 15 years and the cover is unlimited for any critical illness diseases, not limited to the 36 critical illness disease, for 15 years coverage.  He said that it covers TPD, Critical illness and death ranging between RM30,000 to RM120,000.  I told him that I needed to consult with my father, but he said that he has 30 customers as his target and it's a first come-first serve thing.  I said I could not commit until consulting my father.  When I asked about payment, he says they will take direct debit from me.  Do they have access to my accounts?? How is this valid if I never signed anything??

When I asked about signature, he said nowadays voice recordings were sufficient and that signatures were not needed anymore.  Signatures are a must i said.  He said signatures can be forged.

I have also heard of insurance company direct debit deducting from my friends' accounts without their knowledge.  When they enquired, the insurance company told her that she must have signed something at one point of time.

His phone number was 03-76619200.

1) Did he confirm your card number with you?
2) Did you say YES?

If you answer "YES" to both questions, you are in trouble. You can either:
1) Call your bank to block your card and change a new one
2) Call prudential and ask them to cancel the new policy, ask them about the agent too

Apologies guys.  I have emailed Prudential Customer Service and they informed me that this was not a scam.  It was one of their telemarketing.  I was misinformed by my agent when he told me that it was a scam and that there was no such plan.  Apparently, there is a PruMyCare, but it is not offered by insurance agents from Prudential.  Only the telemarketers, (or consultants) who are independent of the insurance agents.  Thanks guys.

so, did you get charged or the agent did not proceed
still, make sure you cancel the plan if you don't want it, there is a cooling off period which you are allow to do it

Dear all,

I've just received a call from a Mandarin speaking lady claiming she is a representative from AKPK and request me to 'work together' with her. Her no is 012 537 9568. I answer her in English but she keep on speaking Mandarin (doesnt sound like China, local Mandarin slang). She said she have all the details with her and the banks actually ask her to call me up to 'negotiate'. I told her I have no outstanding amount, she just said OK & hang-up. Does AKPK sub their job to other financial institutions?

rule of thumb, NO HANDPHONE NUMBER

I have similar experience from difference company for the mandatory Personal insurance for maybank card, same amount RM499 for 2 consecutive years. my solution is cancel current card and get new card. someone must have given away our card detail.

they call you is to inform you will be charged so that the conversation can be recorded, not to get your consent or negotiation. Must be some form of their protocol. So they will insist you to say "OK" or "yes" word during conversation.

and why would you say OK hmm.gif
just say NO, i don't want your insurance and then hang the phone
