I just received a phone scam, I believe from a so-called consultant of Prudential who wanted to make a deal with me over the phone. He insisted that no signature was necessary and that voice recordings were sufficient. His name was
Adnan Bin Che Mok, 820724-11-5115, work ID 07442. (At least as claimed by him).
He was offering me a PruMyCare that pays a premium of RM58 a month for 15 years and the cover is unlimited for any critical illness diseases, not limited to the 36 critical illness disease, for 15 years coverage. He said that it covers TPD, Critical illness and death ranging between RM30,000 to RM120,000. I told him that I needed to consult with my father, but he said that he has 30 customers as his target and it's a first come-first serve thing. I said I could not commit until consulting my father. When I asked about payment, he says they will take direct debit from me. Do they have access to my accounts?? How is this valid if I never signed anything??
When I asked about signature, he said nowadays voice recordings were sufficient and that signatures were not needed anymore. Signatures are a must i said. He said signatures can be forged.
I have also heard of insurance company direct debit deducting from my friends' accounts without their knowledge. When they enquired, the insurance company told her that she must have signed something at one point of time.
His phone number was 03-76619200.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Aug 16 2014, 11:22 AM) 1) Did he confirm your card number with you? 2) Did you say YES? If you answer "YES" to both questions, you are in trouble. You can either: 1) Call your bank to block your card and change a new one 2) Call prudential and ask them to cancel the new policy, ask them about the agent too Apologies guys. I have emailed Prudential Customer Service and they informed me that this was not a scam. It was one of their telemarketing. I was misinformed by my agent when he told me that it was a scam and that there was no such plan. Apparently, there is a PruMyCare, but it is not offered by insurance agents from Prudential. Only the telemarketers, (or consultants) who are independent of the insurance agents. Thanks guys.
