no offence.. but newbies grade looking for thin gaming laptop.. coz hard to maintain, easy heat, & undervolt is for the noob..

among ur choice.. MSI GS63 better lo... or u look into alienware 13 the best 13inch gaming laptop

None taken. I have my eyes on GS63VR too, especially the RG version with 1070 MaxQ. Just that want to get some insight from fellow users.
By "newbies grade looking for thin gaming laptop" what do you mean?

I'm in the market of a thin laptop mainly to use when I'm out traveling or out for work. Gaming when there's time. The downside with GS63 is its battery life which is abysmal. Like the thin border of Aero 15x but that price I think I can get better no? Of course, I'd like to have a feel before I commit into buying any of them. Don't think it is hard to maintain a gaming laptop though. Heat is expected from a gaming line, most probably the laptop will be plugged to the wall and rested on a desk when gaming so no issue with heat.

So, any users of GS63VR RF or RG here? Aero 15W or 15X? Predator Triton 700?

I hv user for gs 63... it beat alienware 13 fhd in terms of display.. but cant fight the oled display...

battery wise it's fair... the power bricks not painful to carry.. dun bother buy the max q.. it means maximum screw u up... by definition the Pascal card already natively max Q.. low noise n power consumption..zephyrus 1080 max Q perform like 1070ti... n alienware 15 1080 maxQ barely pass the 1080 basic score

I really like dell xps 13 but I think it would cost more than 4k. I'm looking if there is any other similar options. I seldom game but would be nice to have that option if I feel like playing.

Just feel that I need to warn you, but the Gigabyte Aero 15 line has issues with random keyboard ghosting/chatter (go check the notebookreview Aero owners thread for an increasing number of examples) and excessive bleeding on the IPS panel (probably due to the bezelless design).

Which is a shame because otherwise, it's a great (albeit pricey) choice, especially if you need the battery life.

For me, the Alienware 13 OLED with 1060 is a good enough deal if you want a small gamable notebook. If the 1060 proves insufficient in the long run, there's always the Alienware Accelerator port AND TB3 for you to run eGPUs out off. Plus it's AN ALIENWARE WOO... and more importantly, it's also a Dell, which means you also get that awesome Dell aftersales/warranty service.

Unless, of course, you prefer your laptop to be thinner (and/or your display bigger). In which case it's falls down to either the GS63VR or the Illegear S5X/Clevo P950 (which I personally own due to the factors above) - both of which don't really have much stamina unplugged (say 4-ish hours tops surfing), and can be quite noisy under full load (rendering rather then gaming) TBH lol.

Andddddd, while Illegear aftersales has been good to me so far (2 day replacement + stress testing of of LCD due to ribbon issues over a weekend summore, I'm not complaining), MSI's aftersales here in Malaysia is abouuuut as good as Acer's... or maybe a bit worse actually (in terms of repair turnaround times).

Or you know, a Blade. But do note that the Blade runs soooo hot when gaming that the internal component failure rate is actually quite high AFAIK. There's a reddit post somewhere about the failure/RMA rate of Linustechtips' many Blades (that he bought for himself and his staff) to illustrate this issue. But it's still looks damn cool TBH.

So yeah, it depends lol. I still say if you can live with a 13 incher, the Alienware 13 OLED is probably top dog in this race. Plus IINM they still have discounts running for the 13 too, which makes it an even sweeter deal.

Asus S510U (great build but use 940mx which kinda meh for me)

Ya, the specs I mentioned vy antique, just got the specs from colleague which he is using for the same software. Not familiar with Quadro graphic card so not confirm which is better. That why only can mention like this.

I like the specs of the Acer Aspire E5-576G-56E7, A515-51G-59Z0, and E5-576G-54KG, but hear Aspire series in Malaysia only got TN panel? Any sifu got recommendation for models with IPS panel that is still under RM2500? I saw HP Pavilion 15-ck063TX has something similar (i5-8250, 4GB, 1TB, NV MX150, W10H) but not keen on HP because see friends and family keep getting hardware problems on the HP laptops. Dun mind 7th gen CPU too if cheaper.
