Manchester United Visa Infinite (MUVI) card FAQS
For the Manchester United Visa Infinite (MUVI) card, earn 5x TPs whenever Manchester United WINS a Premier League match. Only English Premier League (EPL) matches are eligible. Other matches in the FA Cup, Champions/Europa League, EFL (Carabao) Cup are not eligible. To earn the bonus TPs, spending has to be on the SAME DATE as the match kickoff in UK Time. For example, match is at 4.30pm 1 January (UK time), which is 12.30am 2 January (Malaysia time). Spending has to be done on 1 January Malaysia time to be eligible. The following is a list of Manchester United's upcoming league fixtures in local time. https://www.premierleague.com/clubs/12/Manc...United/fixtures Just to reiterate, for matches that kicks off AFTER midnight, spending has the be done the day before. For those that want to maximise TPs by spending only when MU wins, look for early kickoffs before 10pm local time, that way you'll know the result before the day is over. For TP reconciliation, note that you will be credited 2x normal TPs for your spending. The additional 3x bonus TPs will be credited to your account at a later date. Saw this statement in their Maybank 2 Cards Premier page. The link is not working as of now.
"Kindly be informed that effective 15 April 2016, Maybank will be revising the TreatsPoints earning. Click here for more info." I think they are going to cut down or take out point earnings for certain spending categories like what they did on other cards recently. |

Just called MBB to reconfirm, they said all cards under MBB is affected including MBB 2 cards Premier.
MBB 2 cards Premier will the be same as Maybank 2 Platinum Card. I notified them that it is confusing that it was not stated on the MBB 2 cards Premier, so the CS said will report this up and hope to see better version to avoid confusion. You may refer to the link below. http://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/CVP-PlatCard.pdf |

There's no purpose for paying RM800 to maintain this card if that's the case. The bulk of our payments are towards the categories that they have mentioned. Not so much premier after all and I just got my card last week.

It was good for awhile, but I guess it couldn't last.
Once I lose the 5x TP for Amex and the 4.77 points per KF/AM/Enrich mile I'm out. Thanks Maybank. |

QUOTE(tishaban @ Mar 16 2016, 06:00 PM) It was good for awhile, but I guess it couldn't last. Looks like the 5X drop to 1X TP is only affecting Govt, Utilities, Petrol, Edu and Insurance. If this goes the same for shopping and other purchases. I will definitely cancel M2POnce I lose the 5x TP for Amex and the 4.77 points per KF/AM/Enrich mile I'm out. Thanks Maybank. Same also like what you said about if Maybank reduces the 4.77 points per Enrich. No way am I going to keep it if that is also take away. |

Means for other spending like restaurant, hotel, flight, shopping etc Amex Reserve 2 still pay 5 pts and Visa Infinite 2 pts for local and 5 pts for overseas right? That is, no change at all except those categories listed like petrol, governemnt, education etc. Roughly about 30% treat points "earning power" reduced?

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ Mar 16 2016, 08:58 PM) Tell you all an open secret. HLB VI is now a good card for those who are affected by the latest MBB fiasco! Again it depends on your primary objective. Most of us have moved away from Enrich and are focusing more on Asia Miles or Krisflyer so the HLB VI doesn't do anything here. The Wise with cashback might be a different story though, at least there is real cash involved. |

I would say mine is less than 10%.Their conversion to miles is still the best, though i really don't know how long more this will last judging by the rate they are reducing the benefit This post has been edited by bearbear: Mar 16 2016, 10:36 PM |

mbb advantage is the many merchant that offer discount with their cards. if not for that would have cancelled their cards long ago...worth it to keep a free for life card for those discounts I think.
amex plat is basically a useless card now with the PPL access going straight from unlimited to 0 but they never refused an AF waiver before...so keeping that for discounts. |

For me RM12k-15k annually are with utilities/petrol/government, maybe slightly more. So potentially 25% of my spend.
For me one alternative might be the Amex Gold Credit card which still earns 5x Membership Rewards for petrol (~RM1.2 per AM/KF/Enrich). |

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Mar 17 2016, 07:58 AM) Amex Gold is still free for life, so at least I won't worry about having to meet a minimum annual spend. The biggest problem with Amex gold is splitting the spend ie. my points will be spread across Treatspoints and Membership Rewards, never a good idea unless you have 6-figure or higher spend. The new chart sucks. I will still keep the M2P card until I get hit by the RM800 annual fee in August, then time to cancel... |

QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 17 2016, 08:22 AM) Crap... I have close to 10k utilities per month charged to my amex... Guess have to go for cashback card... Any options to recommend? I think no point going for those cash back card and what not to save RM50 or RM100 per month. The value of these card is in the points for miles to enjoy luxurious business or first class travel. Will still stick to Premier 2 cos it is still the best despite cutting and maybank knows it. I just hope other banks will step up and launch an aggressive campaign to wrestle away all those higher limit cards via better miles accrual system. I just dont understand. The margin for credit card debt should be high enough for more competitive packages..but no....so far...all also like shit |

QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 17 2016, 08:22 AM) Crap... I have close to 10k utilities per month charged to my amex... Guess have to go for cashback card... Any options to recommend? Wow! that's a lot of utilities!Depending on your goal and willingness to take the trouble in order to maximize the cashback. Most if not all, cashback credit cards are capped at RM50 per month, with the exception of HLB WISE at RM100 per month. And also, channel of paying for the utilities, i.e. via Online, Paying at the Grocery Stores, Autodebit, etc will also rewards you with cashbacks. But then you must be willing to apply for all the cards and apportion your payment accordingly. It will be a lot of hassles. If I am you, this is like a project that I will need to carefully plan. And if you are into travelling, consider those premium travel cards like sugggested above which will help you fast track to the dream vacation you want on business/first class flights. |

for those AMEX usage only 10-30% affected, and if the amt not high, can continue stay with premier.
like my case is RM4k per mth in utilities, then getting a 10% cash back worth a lot. imagine if i apply it under my name, my wife, my parents name, 4x RM100 x 12mth = RM4,800 then getting another card for petrol, at least another saving RM700 per year. |

QUOTE(bearbear @ Mar 17 2016, 10:01 AM) One good alternative will be SIA Krisflyer Gold I have that. 1. 5x Msia PPL access 2. 3000 krisflyer miles upon sign up 3. RM2 = 1 miles awarded; if you spend 60k & above, you will be awarded with basically RM1 = 1 miles Just that Im more into AM than KF, and the bonus miles come in on anniversary, where the AF kicks in too n made me hesitate. |

in actual sense, our m2p card earning rate has dropped quite abit after factoring in all the categories that don't earn 5x on amex.... even VI don't give x2 on those categories anymore..
the way i see it, it's like RM 4.77 to 1 mile... it's as good as increasing the redemption point requirement for m2p. |

Does anybody know the goverment and education is it worldwide or only Malaysia? Genxyz in his blog seems to say that he now can't pay his children's overseas tuition fee as that education. Would not that be under foreign spend?
Likewise insurance, is it only local insurance? What if I have UK or Australian investment insurance? Would that be under foreign spend? |

QUOTE(laymank @ Mar 17 2016, 12:12 PM) local insurance and overseas insurance will still be insurance. I think better to call CS to confirm. As I know, as long as u charge non-MYR, then it's considered as foreign spending. Local hotel and overseas hotel will still be hotel. Foreign spending is when you swipe physically at foreign country in foreign currency. Overseas insurance is considered as insurance. But, I can also say that oversea insurance is considered overseas ma. :-) |

foreign spending may not be 5x point.
i have many experience, pay customs duty at singapore, only earn 2x TP (mbb did stated that payment to gov body only get 2x TP) just 2 months ago, i reload my OysterCard at london, payment is to TFL (transport for london) a gov body, only get 2x TP. i did my tracking day by day, so i can tell this is true. |

This is interesting because I paid Australia Tax Office with the Visa Infinite and got 5xTP despite it being government. That's the reason I ask because important to know with these changes whether it affect foreign spend (ie all foreign spent is 5xTP regardless insurance, gov, education). So if your merchant code is government then you won't get 5x treat points no matter what currency it's charged in. I guess when 15 April comes along, can do a test spend first. Anybody with overseas children tuition, maybe can try pay small amount RM100 or something and see what happens and report back? formed a strategy, this is my own case
Utilities (TNB) roughly RM2.8k per mth, i save RM250 x 12mth = RM3000 per year RM100 - HLB WISE card, 10% for utilities max cap RM100 RM100 - HLB WISE card, 10% for utilities max cap RM100 (2nd card register using wife name) RM 50 - PBB Visa Signature, online spending 6%, max cap RM50 Petrol roughly RM 800 per month, by estimation i can save RM 40 x 12mth = RM 480 per year RM 20 - citibank cash back platinum -5% petrol cap RM20 RM 20 - uob one card platinum - 5% petrol cap RM25 weekend |

Thanks ASTRO is under Cable TVHand phone, TM and unifi is under Telco but it is interesting to point out that OCBC Titanium used to refer TM trnx as utility! So this is still very much everyone's guess for the moment |

Kf one not too bad but Sia hard to claim free seats I heard? Cashback card too troublesome and hard to keep track. I swipe almost 20k+ a month including utilities. Still good for dining though haha sigh This post has been edited by Vinci777: Mar 17 2016, 10:19 PM |

sighs, been surveying for few days and cant find the next best alternative card to use after Apr 15.
Anyone can enlighten me? 30k of company utilities bills per month. P/S: Next to use will be Maybank KF Amex, kind of reluctant because I am more to AM than KF. This post has been edited by herc: Mar 18 2016, 05:53 PM |

Called up CSR to further inquire about the upcoming points earn changes.
1. For utilities, it only effect things like TNB, Indah Water, does not effect telco/internet (celcom, tmnet, maxis) - still 5 points. 2. For petrol accross the board 1 point down from 5 points. However card like petronas platinum, will still earn the bonus points as stated when pump at petronas. 3. For gov and education, will include those from overseas as long as the terminal (?merchant code) is gov or education. However, many gov and education institution overseas may not use the relevant terminal/code and thus will still get 5 points. Looks like will have to do testing, eg if paying for children's tuition overseas, I think test swipe minimal amount first and see how many points posted. I will be doing that for Australia Tax Office too. So overall, I think the effect on me will be my petrol (RM200/month, lost of 800points/mth, 5points to 1point) and insurance (RM3000/month, lost of 3000points/mth, 2points to 1point). Don't have much electricity/water payment. Over a year that's about 9-10k enrich points lost. Got to figure out if worth the effort to apply / swipe other cards (HLB VI?). Likewise for upcoming LHDN payment...better quickly pay before 15 April..at least get 2 points instead of zero. |

guys, i've called the cust service to check on a few things.
They told me Telco such as telekom, maxis, p1 all is considered under utilities. When asked for black and white, say don't have b&w, it all depends on the code on the CC terminal. Gawd, hate this kind of uncertainty. it's like playing jackpot when we're paying our bills. Strike jackpot, you get 5x. if not then it's x1. |

yea.. that part i know.
but if you're paying bills like autopay with telekom, maxis, digi and celcom, it'll be treated as utilities and hence x1 only.. well have to try out for 1 month to confirm this. If this is really the case, just gonna switch out the autobilling to other VI cards. |

I think maybank and other banks will continue cut down all benefit for credit cards, because the bank negara cut down the interchange fee until 2020, after 2020, will getting lower, so all credit card benefit will drop again ><

I insist it can be done thus it was submitted and will wait to hear from them. have to say I am disappointed with KLCC branch, I was given a number and the counter that service me told me she cant do anything as I am existing user. had to wait again and total of 30 mins of queue. I visitted 1U outlet many times and never wait for.more than 10 mins |

QUOTE(blackchides @ Mar 29 2016, 09:43 AM) Best u call CS to check. The category listed by Maybank is kind of general because they did not specified MCC code, hence no one know how they grouping each other. ie, waterbill in Kedah, is captured as Utilities by Hong Leong but Government Payment by Maybank coz its state-owned. |

From experience, how long does it normally take from the time you see the cards in your M2U to physically receiving the cards?

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Apr 1 2016, 01:24 PM) both card earn 5x TPs for oversea transaction.. I think Amex is 2x for education, while VI still 5x for overseas trx. The TP revision to 1x for edu only take effect from 15-Apr onwards.since your might fall under education..might be only 2x TP if use VI while AMEX only 1x TP.. anyway should use VI since lower exchange rate compare to AMEX.. |

I think this whole travel insurance thing if we charge an airline ticket to the credit card is a sham. I have the Maybank2Premier, recently i missed a domestic flight and called them for insurance claim (flight replacement perhaps), but they only say for overseas flight. QUOTE(maskedchan @ Apr 1 2016, 01:24 PM) both card earn 5x TPs for oversea transaction.. Not always. Some user find amex rate cheaper, including me.since your might fall under education..might be only 2x TP if use VI while AMEX only 1x TP.. anyway should use VI since lower exchange rate compare to AMEX.. |

for my recent trip to europe, i used both amex and visa, to study which cards give better conversion rate.
The rate really uncertain, in London, sometime amex better, sometime Visa better. In europe, travel to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, Visa has better rate. side notes: now i realize we should avoid using AMEX for Gov related transaction because it only give 1x TP. i reload my Oyster card using both AMEX and VISA (pay to Transport for London, some kind of gov entity), VISA earning 5x TP, while AMEX only 1x TP. |

I would love to find out how you can pay a TT with a credit card. Even if it were possible, the fees involved is typically a lot higher than just paying straight to the merchant, assuming the merchant accepts cards. |

anyone knows if telekom (unifi and streamyx) and maxis is considered utilities earning x1 or normal transaction earning x5? i usually pay these bills on m2u.
From M2U bill payment, Maxis is under broadcasting & telecommunication while Telekom is under utilities. Have to re-plan bill payments.. those earning only x1 have to shift to other cards like HLB Mach Signature.. At least it's RM 3 = 1 Enrich. |

Abit confused here, 0%epp 1x points applicable to the VI or AR?Based on the chart says 1x points, but in maybank website didnt mention Amex Reserve get 1x for 0%EPP any one can clarify? |

My stash of miles is quickly winding down as well due to reduction in spending, plus a lot of redemptions over the past 1.5 years. Good luck. |

Maybank seems to have temporarily "Lost" most of my TPs
I had 350K on last statement, probably 450K with last spending - now only shows 36K online and when I called them too. Hopefully resolved in time to upgrade my soon coming trip to NZ! |

QUOTE(raist86 @ Apr 19 2016, 05:27 PM) I didn't use any of the TPsSome months ago (I think October or November) I updated my passport details with Maybank branch here as my old passport had expired - because that didn't get updated on the credit card accounts I stopped receiving e-mail statements. No big deal, as I only usually use the online activity anyway and ignore the statements. Anyway when I called them recently to order a new card I mentioned the statements to them which they fixed and updated passport details, again some confusion as the branch keyed in the details wrong by 1 character it seems. End result - no statements by e-mail yet (although they sent copies today, with correct previous TP balance) and the 450K approx TPs missing somewhere. Have told me it'll take 1 week to resolve ... hopefully that's the case. |

Maybank customer service is typically slow, but they do eventually come around to fixing stuff. I would like to see some good news coming out of Maybank as well after the recent TP earnings devaluation. |

Now that petrol only earns 1xTP, does anybody know if we can purchase petrol vouchers or giftcards from anywhere? Maybe groupon or any supermarket? Earn 5xTP hopefully by paying with AMEX then pump petrol using the giftcard / voucher.

I tried to resolve it by calling them, emailing them, PM them. They ask me send screen shot etc etc to various department. Got fed up so didn't use it. |

Hello Guys and Girls,
I'll be leaving the country soon for greener pastures. I need advice on my keeping the Maybank 2 Premier cards. Would it be better in terms of treatspoints, benefit, currency rates etc etc if I were to maintain these cards i.e use it as I normally would in Malaysia in the new country. Also, My new job will have me travel all over the world very frequently. I'm just weighing out the currency rates and overseas transaction fees (if any) between Maybank 2 Premier Cards to Local Cards. Not to mention that local cards with almost the same benefits with Maybank 2 Premier Cards (initial comparison) has annual fee of almost rm3000. Settling outstanding balance should not be a problem with Maybank2u. Needless to say that the local cards/bank are not available at Malaysia. Only HSBC and Citibank. |

Has anyone tried before transferring the points to a frequent flyer programme under different name? Is is allowed? I'm asking because I might have huge company spending in future, hence I'll definitely have too much points balance. Thinking transferring some of it to my family members and relatives. I know for Enrich, I can buy the tickets on behalf and for Asia Miles I can maintain up to 5 friends and families account. But it's troublesome each time I have to buy for them. Moreover if I really have too much points might consider trading it too (not sure if it's allowed though if I trade the points through transfer directly from credit card to others' frequent flyer account). I know ethically selling points are not allowed. Need some help here as I'll really be flooded with points very soon.

Unfortunately u're not allowed to transfer your Maybank treat point to 3rd party frequent flyer account anymore. They cross check the name. |

Arghhh why Maybank so strict. My salary is way above the requirement but because my allowance is more than half of my salary my basic alone doesn't make the cut. So can't apply

QUOTE(zeronuker @ Apr 24 2016, 09:48 AM) Hello Guys and Girls, that would depend on whether ur company will allow you to claim in the actual charged amount (in ringgit currency) or the amount paid (usually for foreign company it's in USD). While overseas transaction do get 5x points, you'll also get charged on higher conversion rates and foreign transaction fees. Knowing where'll be based will narrow down a little further. US cards have better benefits such as high sign up bonus and earning rates. Not to mention they are usually 1 to 1 point transfer to airlines. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 10 2016, 07:05 PM) From unlimited access to 5x PPL per year, no more priority pass and supplementary cards no longer can access PPL for free. Personally i don't think this is a good news. We used to get 5x PPL access worldwide and not for some limitrd overseas PPL. On the other hand, the AmBank VI and WMC will be happy with the complimentary unlimited access to PPL.Good news is it is now entitled for some overseas PPL. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ May 10 2016, 08:38 PM) Sigh, i park my allianz insurance with this card but sadly need to move on as MBB have reduced the 2x TPs to just 1x TP for insurance payment. Kinda hard to foresee i can hit the no annual fee threshold this year. |

just got my cc statement yesterday, i had used my VI to pay for a travel insurance under tokio marine (rm423) with posting date 16/04/16 and making a payment of electricity deposit under SESB (Sabah) (rm1000) with posting date 20/04/16, both earn 2x point. hmm... i thought it suppose to be 1x?
somehow the way the statement gave the bonus point for the above transactions are classify under overseas spending and the total point given slightly not matching. Suppose to be 423 + 1000 = 1423 point, but given 1432 point. i had recalculate many times and really sure the 1432 point given under overseas spending does not correspond to any other transactions on the statement. |

QUOTE(tishaban @ May 17 2016, 07:25 PM) This is awesome news, thanks for the info. Refer to this thread: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3757650Do I just go to the cashier with my TNB bill? Will do it next time I'm at Nu Sentral! I have been paying my bills there every month and earn cash back under groceries category using my HLB Wise or Ikhwan MasterCard. Yes, just go to the cashier and tell her/him that you want to pay for TNB, then read out the bill no. and she/he will punch on the screen. Minimum amount is RM 20. I also pay for my UniFi bill. Yeah, I also suggest you to sign up for the membership, RM 12 for lifetime membership and comes with RM 10 voucher. |

herc and fruitie, thanks for sharing the option of paying utility bills at Sam's to secure the 5xTP.
Like many here, I have up to 10K in bills to pay per month (4 TNB bills). Considering the limit of just 1K at Sam's, what is the best way to go about this? I don't want the cashier to look at me as if I'm a looney Please share your experience! |

QUOTE(Jack128 @ May 21 2016, 12:00 PM) Based on my memory for Nu Sentral outlet since I go there few times in a month, they have 6 counters. So if you have 4 bills, you can pay 4 bills in the same counter and hop to another one for another cycle of 4 bills, I don't think you need 10 unless you are paying 10k. If that's the case, you have to split into 2 days. Make another visit. Luckily I work nearby, can always drop by during lunch hour. This post has been edited by fruitie: May 21 2016, 12:26 PM |

It is 1k max per bill per counter or simply 1k max in total? For eg, I have 4 tnb bills each about 2k...can I get 1k settled frm each bill in 1 counter? That way I just need to go 2 counters? Sorry for asking repeatedly, abit blur I always hop from one counter to another counter to fulfill RM 50 per transaction for Wise. Yes, two counters are sufficient. However, to please the customers behind you, I suggest you just go to more counters rather than hogging the queue. You will need to pay 4x, cannot pay one shot for 4 bills even they are different accounts. |

Collected my Maybank 2 Premier cards at 1U Card Center.
I had to ask for the Welcome Kit from the officer as they just gave me the 2 envelope with the cards. The Welcome kit is a Passport holder with old pamphlets inside |

Paying bills in Sam's is considered as groceries. So, if groceries is not one of the affected categories, it will not be affected at all.I think Maybank will see at least 30% drop in their card usage with this new revision and hopefully they will do something to stop the bleeding. I have been paying my bills using my groceries cash back cards and get my cash rebate every month. |

Cilaka.... If they offering like this, chances are the tp to miles range are going to be revised soon... Once redemption rate starts to go up and becomes unsustainable they'll review the transfer rates.

I think u don't really need to worry about when it will be charged bcoz even it has been charged, when u call to cancel, the annual fee will be reversed. |

If you complain to MBB what do you hope for the outcome? To audit and ensure every TGV has a person stationed there? What if one day they are short of staff due to on leave or MC? That's why I believe you should take it up with TGV stationed manager. |

For those who has other card prior to obtaining premier, they follow the anniversary based on your other card
Example i had M2Platinum which anniversary is on May I obtained M2Premier on Nov 2014 The annual fee was never shown in my statement until May 2016. |

I always wondered why people in this forum always has the patience with the bank.
Seriously if TGV would have responded well on the case, the fellow customer would not have to complain it over to Maybank. Just like previously CIMB promotion on KFC 5% discount, but almost 30% of the KFC outlets does not accept credit cards. Complaint it to KFC, reply is "we don't know". Call to the bank, reply is "we not sure". Personally I will never side on the bank. Call me extreme or opportunist if you want. |

Our "relationship" is with MBB and not TGV. There are many reasons why people are using their cards, i.e benefits, miles, etc. Hence bank cannot just simply publicize "attractive" promotions but customers do not really enjoy or receive what is promised. Disclaiming responsibility is to be condemned and most deplorable. I believe they don't have that much say in this, but at least they can highlight this to TGV and not sending a standard reply to customer. This post has been edited by msa9696: May 29 2016, 01:03 AM |

S******* phone is being displayed (analogy to the Maybank promotion pamphlet that being displayed in TGV) in A**** mall but why u bark at S*******? The phone is sold by A***** (offer of priority lane by TGV in ur case) but S******* (MBB in ur case) is not liable to it. |

QUOTE(roy918 @ May 29 2016, 06:55 AM) Not sure if you bark at the right tree. I doubt you can simply use MBB's name as a promotional exercise without any form of prior approval or agreement from MBB. Moreover TGV is not a small timer phone kiosk that is willing to use a bigger name for own benefit unofficially.Think it this way, u go A**** mall, saw a S****** phone u like and buy it, after that u found it is used phone and u bark at S*******? Just my opinion, was it stated anywhere in MBB or TGV's website that a MBB priority lane is a card benefit for MBB cardholders?, if yes then i reckon you can complain to both parties, if not, there isnt really an argument. it would be up to TGV's branch to operate their lane based on their discretion.

QUOTE(peigeng @ Jun 4 2016, 09:35 PM) Even without business expenses, a larger household can get close to that amount. Groceries (~RM2-3k) + utilities (TNB + mobile + astro + unifi) + fuel is already 4-5k per month. Add a holiday or two plus festivities and you can easily top RM80k per year. |
