Arghhh why Maybank so strict. My salary is way above the requirement but because my allowance is more than half of my salary my basic alone doesn't make the cut. So can't apply

QUOTE(limeuu @ Aug 16 2016, 03:19 PM) The key is the currency charged in....if in any currency other than myr, it will be 5x....even if spent in msia.... Buying tickets fromEg, uber you pay in myr....but the charging currency is actually euro!....and you get 5x.... Scoot its in SGD so I think should be able 5X TP on VI |

QUOTE(ignorantcow @ Sep 1 2016, 01:26 PM) I want to share with you guys an interesting redemption I did recently, maybe someone will find it useful. I redeemed Krisflyer points for HAN-KUL recently. I noticed EVA (Star Alliance partner) had a strange married segment flight they sell at a ridiculous price (RM66xx compared to RM19xx-RM23xx for competing airlines in Business). Sample: http://goo.gl/flights/ISpZ As you can see it involves flying up from HAN to TPE (2+ hours), "layover" in TPE for 17hr (arrive afternoon and fly out early next morning), TPE to KUL (4+ hours). As far as service goes I thought the "Taiwanese" touch on EVA was a really good experience compared to the usual westernized service you get on SQ etc. For example they have a wide selection of teas from matcha milk tea, Japanese hojicha (served in an appropriate cup for it) to Pu Er/other Chinese classics. Other airlines won't even make the distinction let alone serve it in proper cups (Taiwanese take their teas very seriously). Also I got lucky and they used A330s for both my segments that day. Not the best or most advanced seat (early 00s angled flat), but gets the job done. If you have time it's not a bad way to get home. Also maybe to get out of Taoyuan airport to see Taipei a little bit. The new EVA lounges are pretty decent to spend time in, all new. The interesting part is, HAN-KUL is technically same region on the award chart even though TPE isn't. If I redeemed HAN-TPE it would be 27.5k one way, TPE-KUL will be another 27.5k. But because of routing rules and a long layover, this particular itinerary HAN-(TPE)-KUL is 20k one way. For taxes it came to S$138.70. Not the most amazing redemption ever, I thought there was fair value :-) Edit: A more blatant example would be KUL-SIN via TPE http://goo.gl/flights/ROxL RM99xx "value". I really wonder if anyone buys these tickets. I didn't ticket this so I'm not even sure the agent will allow it! :-) It's even SEA1 to SEA1, so it only comes to 17.5k in J. Amazing. QUOTE(limeuu @ Oct 4 2016, 03:02 PM) which begs the question...is 50k points worth the rm150 extra?....the treats point nominal value is 0.25sen....so the value of 50k points is rm125.... It depends how you value your treatpoints. For me, the sole plus of this card its it conversion value to FFP miles. 50000 TP equates to 10482 Asiamiles. Which equates to 'buying' miles at RM0.014 per Mile.A return ticket in economy on Cathay from KL to Hong Kong costs 30000 Asiamiles +. That equals to RM420(miles value) + RM233(taxes), RM633 for a return ticket to HKG. Use it to redeem a Multi Carrier Award ticket in J/F the value rises exponentially. Asiamiles also allows you to buy miles but it's priced at USD32.50 per 1000 miles. If anyone wants to buy a car and would not mind me swiping AMEX, please PM me I'll pay the 1.5% This post has been edited by db07mufan: Oct 4 2016, 04:05 PM |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Oct 4 2016, 04:11 PM) yes, i believe genx did calculate this out before....and conclude that for the purpose of airmiles, it may be worth it.... Agreed! Different strokes for different folks ! Hahahathe worth is not very much for economy class redemption...best for business class... however, it only has value if it is replacement worth...ie, you intend to buy a business class ticket anyway, and then use miles to redeem...if you would otherwise just travel economy, then the worth may be a bit of $ saving (usually redemption cost will be less than an economy ticket), and a free class upgrade.... free class upgrade isn't much value to me, unless it's a long haul red eye.... |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Oct 20 2016, 12:04 PM) Redemption online with kf still gets 15% miles discount?... There are abundance of cheap LCC fares to SIN, I don't mind the extra positioning if it means I get a better product in the end.Problem with kf is I need to start journey in msia, not sin....still two minds about where to direct my points.... And yes, I hate to have to call cc....rather do everything online.... |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Nov 10 2016, 08:33 AM) ba has little presence in this region, so redemptions will have to be on partner airlines....how is it done?....can do online, or need to call ba....? ost redemptions on partner airlines can be done on their website. I've tried QR/UL/MH/CX. I find BAEC offering very good value for short haul redemption. For example, HKG-TPE is only 9000 avios + ~RM90This post has been edited by db07mufan: Nov 10 2016, 10:52 AM |

guys, has anyone done prepayment before via email. How safe is it.
I am getting a few pieces of luggages from Germany, picking it up on January. The vendor said to prebook it i'll need to prepay it. It'll require my credit card number + expiry + name via email. I've done payment on the phone, but not this. Is it safe? |
