Hi all,
This is a version2 of the "HOT TOPIC" that we had discussed for the past few years.
Thanks all the supports who had actively utilized this open forum as a discussion stage.

Please continue from this thread. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

By the way, we had active forumers on Raytech, Huper Optic, 3M and VKool.

Do come in and discussion here.

Thanks!

1st Thread:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/418792/+3020

Summary:
1. Raytech, V-Kool, 3M are good in heat rejection. As long as it is original products. Beware of imitation products in the market.
Raytech Official Website
V-Kool Official Website
3M Local Distributor

2. Front Windscreen Films are very important where the most important thing is that housebrand can't compete with huge brands like Raytech Ultra70, V-Kool Elite or 3M Crystaline 70.

3. Beware of house brand in the market. Go to the window film specialist outlets to seek for more advice.

4. Always seek for warranty card for consumer rights and privilege after investing in car tinting.

I'm starting to think that Cool World gave me some kind of bad installation job.
It's because after the installation for almost a week. My front left passenger
window starting to have a few small bubbles already and some big bubbles
and the border of this window as well.

Tomorrow I'm going back to them and ask them to fix it.

Need some advice here. Thanks.

1. Is there any big difference between security film of 5mil and 7mil?
2. Does thicker security film affect the power window's life span?

You will never know what happening in window tinting market today. Until you read this...

user posted image

Before we started, I need to explain 2 things before we get confused on further statements. Window film is described based on high performance and high quality. Both aspects are important. High Performance means the window film possess superb heat rejection performance. High quality means prolonged lifetime of a window film’s material and its heat rejection performance can last for very long, for a minimum of at least 5 years. However, today, best-selling product in the market is very low in quality even though it has a considerably high performance. This means that the heat rejection is good for the first year and then it will drop more than 50% on second year. You will be surprised if I told you; the price is about the same for high and low quality film in market. Price range starts from few hundreds to two to three thousands depending on the heat rejection performance of the film.

What was the Market Trends of Window Film Industry for 10-15 years ago?

* Branding was not important; customers had no idea how to look for good quality tint.

* Selling skills and salesman talks was more important at that time.

* Most tinting shop were doing own/local brand, they were not interested on good brand and International Brand, because they needed to come out with enormous amount of money for franchise fees and to purchase high cost products.

* At that time, hundreds of new brand tinting shops came out on market with many funny name.

* Korean film replaced USA film in almost all tinting shops in Malaysia.

* At that time, the Korean film was newly introduced into the market; many window tint sellers were attracted by its low costs and good heat rejection performance. However, nobody was aware of its quality, until it was proven that the heat rejection performance dropped in 12 months.

* Starting from that time until now, none of the tinting shop will tell you if they are selling Korean film, they keep cheating customer that they are selling USA film.

* After Korean products flooded Malaysia’s Tinting market, few things happened. Price war started among window film sellers, and all customers started getting low quality window film on their car, some even pay high price for it.

* After some time, we noticed more and more car on the road with the car windows full of bubbles, and waving. Incidents where the heat rejection dropped more than 50% after 1 year is also overwhelming.

* Due to unhealthy competition, many tinting shop with own brand/local brand started using unethical tricks in selling their products and they gradually started to lose their customers’ trust and confidence.

In window tint market crisis, few tricks that could easily been done by them include:

1. They Provide wrong/fake heat rejection. vmad.gif
Example, brochure printed IRR 95%, when tested with solar meter the real reading is below 50% or even below 20%.
That is why the price could be very different in different shops.

user posted image

2. Selling High Performance but Low Quality Product vmad.gif
The heat rejection performance lasts for maximum 1-2 years only. These films costs are actually much cheaper
and they are normally from Korea / Taiwan/ China 2-ply IR film or dye film.

3. "Made in USA" can sell better price. vmad.gif
Most of USA manufacturers are established company for making high performance and high quality products.
Unethical sellers that are not dealing with USA manufacturer deliberately printed "Made in USA" logo on their film
to cheat consumer so that they can sell higher price. Therefore, USA original and Low quality film selling about the same price in maket.
user posted image

4. Swap Product during Installation. vmad.gif
Many sellers use high performance and good quality products during demonstration, however later they swap with lower
performance and poor quality products during actual installation on your the vehicle.

user posted image

Current Market Trends in Window Film Industry

* Today, more and more consumers are aware about poor quality tinted, so they start doing research and surveys for a good quality tinted for their car.

* One of the best ways is to look for International Brand or popular USA brand in the market. Consumer is more confident on trusted brand.

* However, consumers still not necessarily know how to differentiate a good quality window tint.

* So, a new trend starts to appear, these own brand or local brand shop closes its business one by one, and many of these companies convert their shop to USA brand, by taking franchise from distributors. However, this is not happy ending story yet.

* Many of unethical sellers (Franchisee) misuse the USA brand to cheat consumer by selling non-original or fake products at their shop and name it with "House-Brand". These house-brands are not original USA products, there are no logo printed on the tint film and they give shop warranty card to their customers.

* “Shop Warranty card” meaning you must go back to the same shop where you fitted your window tint to claim warranty. Other dealers for the same brand will not entertained you as they possibly do not have same product in their shop.

* Worst thing even happened where the seller collected full amount of money from consumer and later swapped to other product (Korea Made) for all windows and rear windscreen. Only the front windscreen is original brand product.

According to IWFA, Safety film ranges in thickness 4 mils to upwards of 21 mils and thicker. Somehow, for automobile window use is recommend between 4mil to 6mil thickness. Window film above 6mil may cause disrupt to your power window in 1-2 years time. Some car manufacturer already facing this problem few years ago and only experience shop will aware of this issue.

However we find a lot of shop offering 4-5mil thickness safety film to customer, but they tell the customer is 6-8mil. Guys, thicker safety film is not the selling point, laboratory on physical performance of safety film is the selling point.

In theory, 7mil thickness film provides slightly better smash resistance compare to 5mil, infact it is not much different in safety performance and costing. In Malaysia, safety film come with solar control performance. The different of price is normally due to different heat rejection. According to Raytech report, the metal/ ceramic coating on the film for heat rejection performance is so expensive in USA, on the other hand, the costing for the thickness of the film between 4-7mil is about the same.
*
Do you mean no point to go for 7 mil if compare to 6 mil? Since you mentioned above there is no much different in safety performance and costing, but definitely different on heat rejection

1 mil is 1/1000 inch. Thicker safety film is not the selling point, laboratory on physical performance of safety film is more important. Original USA 4mil safety film is good enough.

Hmm..I also dunno..that's why I ask here. They give responses like.. "LLumar ah ?? No good one lah that one.. "
If one dealer say..I don't mind..probably he's trying to sell his panel tint company.. But both different dealers say it...so just wondering is it true? I used to think that Llumar is a good brand..like 3m etc..

Raytech Safety film is develop in Commonwealth Laminating and Coating, Inc, tested by America National Standard Institute. As window film specialist, Raytech just emphasis in the thickness of 4-6mil for automobile window used. Normally, 6mil and above will cause disruption of power window in1-2 years time in most of car.

Safety and security films are usually used to improve the performance of the glass for protection against human impact, bomb blasts, natural disaster, intrusion or seismic activity.

Safety film is always described in term of “mils”, which is a measurement of thickness as one thousandth of an inch (1/1000 inch). One mil equals 25.4 microns (micrometers). Safety film ranges in thickness 4 mils to upwards of 15 mils and thicker. The varying thickness is achieved by mechanically laminating multiple layers of film together with aggressive adhesive coatings. The Safety film is attached to the glass with extremely aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive. When stress causes the glass to break, the film has ability to stretch and absorb some or all of the energy generated by the stress. The result is that the broken glass may remain intact within the framing system preventing shards of glass becoming lethal projectiles.

Designed for applications where safety and security is a priority
a) Excellent solar performance, including heat and UV rejection, as well as glare reduction Superior optical clarity
b) Advanced adhesive formulation
c) Evaluation according to the following test methods/standards:
Small Missile Impact Test – ANSI Z-97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201
Large Missile Impact Test & Cyclic Window Pressure Tests –
ASTM E 1886-02/ASTM E 1996-03, Level C, 4.5lb 2" x 4"
GSA Explosive Test – GSA-TS01-2003

For America Standard, and IWFA requirement 4mil safety film thickness and above is classified as safety film. The safety film must get the ANSI lab report or certificate on the break strength impact before the product can be release in to USA market. Further more, safety film now is coated with heat rejection material and become best selling product in Malaysia.

However, never make mistake that safety film is unbreakable. Every safety film has its break strength limited. Raytech 4mil Safety film can support up to 134lb break strength. As professional opinion, we never tell the customer how good is our safety film, even the original Raytech USA safety film just can delay breaking time for 20-30 seconds. Further more, although the safety tinted window has broken, the thief need to make a hole on the tinted window is not easy also. Thus, we got just enough time to try escape and drive the car away. An expect smash-and-grab-thief can grab your things in 2-3 seconds. That why meanwhile they will not try target on the car that tinted with safety film windows. Watch the videos below :

Car without tinted glass.

Car tinted with safety fim.

Yes, of course every product have their life span. Its depends on various reason

1. How you take care of it
2. How often you park your car under hot sun
3. How often you use the car
4. How ofter you wind up and down the windows

Basically in my opinion, you are paying RM2000 ++ for V-Kool and it last for 8 years
This is worthy investment tongue.gif

If you want cheap, get it from Groupon or Dealmates but the quality is just below average.
JPJ only allowed >70% VLT for FWS, >50% VLT for side and BWS. Thats consider as legal tint.

How come a lot of brands offer VLT <60% only and still JPJ compliant?
A lot of cars come with factory glass that has about 75% VLT already. If tint side window with 60% VLT tint also will become illegal right? 0.75 * 0.6 = 0.45 which is less than 50% VLT allowed by JPJ.

So far based on my survey only 3M can offer 66% VLT security tint for side windows and 68%% VLT for back wind shield, with good IRR.

Front wind shield totally cannot tint, any tint found on the market will it <70% VLT.

Edit: Just found out VKOOL also has tint similar to 3M but only the top range ones.

After following and reading this thread since V1 Pg. 60 onwards. My 2 cents on top 3 BEST Tint in No particular order.

1) Huper Optik C70 front and Back and C40 side

2) Raytech Centurion 4 mil OR 6 mil.
Budget Alternative CS85 5 mil. OR CS75 4 mil.
- 7 years warranty is a Bonus. They have Complete range to suit your budget.

3) 3M Nano 70S with Crystalline 70 front.

OTHER Brand/tint?
Proceed with caution. Avoid Groupon/Webuy/Ilovediscounts tints as they have Hidden costs or they will MAKE you upgrade for better quality tint. One customer ended up paying RM688 instead of RM288 cause is D-segment car and sweet-talked to upgrade to Higher quality IRR tint). Good thing no cheap.

These above 3's ENDORSED and Highly recommended by my Customers. (I sell new cars). V-kool standard dropped and COST very high. Llumar is Good but MANY Imitations.

I understand VKool cost very high as well. One of the reason most SA do not promote not due to low standard of our film. It just that the commission margin for them is low tongue.gif

Again, we normally cover JPJ if our film VLT is within their rules.

My SA told me that latest Vkool Elite now comes with security feature too, other than heat rejection. This is the "latest" version of Vkool Elite. Anyone can confirm if this is true?

Thanks for any response.

I just bought my car recently in Balakong and looking for a good safety film, my salesman quoted me some 3M tinted range RM1000 to RM1800 after discount. She told me is 3M original product and giving me 3M warranty card. So, I secretly took down some pictures for survey later. Somehow, when I visit few other 3M shops, those shop people could not recognize the products I show them, they told me is not 3M film, and later when i check online, I noticed the 3M safety film available in their website is only Scotchshiled, Nano 50 and nano 70. I can't find those products in my photo. Could anybody tell me what is this about.

Probably they apply one layer of CR70 plus another layer of 6mil security film. It's better to get Nano 70, 2 layers potentially has more problem.
Just go to one of the 3M authorized applicators listed on 3M website, you can get Crystalline Front and back and Nano for side at around the same price. Also 3M now sending e-warranty via email, not card anymore.

Hi bro, thx for for your reply. My salesman not mention about the e-warranty at all. But, it is not 2 piece film, see my pictures carefully.Crystalline 50 - 6mil, Crystalline 70 - 6mil, RE70 - 6mil and ST 70 - 5mil is actually one piece of film. After go through some survey, I think that dealer is selling fake 3M to me. I am very disappointed with my salesman and that 3M dealer. I wondering how many 3M dealer is also selling fake 3M product nowaday. Anybody can recommend V-kool, Huper Optilk, or Raytech to me. I am taking my Goft GTI next month. Must be good price and original product.Thx smile.gif

Please beware, there is a lot fake 3M in the market. As I know 3M do not have safety film.
Their best product is Crystalline series and always have issue with Smart Tag

The safety series that you see might mix with HOME BRAND

I don't know if your 3M dealer is selling fake or not, but based on my survey, when 3M initially launched auto films, they did not have security film, as a result some 3M dealer combine Crystalline 70 with another layer of security film so they are able to sell their product as a full package. However now 3M has Nano series safety film, you can find more information about Nano here:
http://solutions.3m.com.my/wps/portal/3M/e...nge/NanoSafety/
Maybe your SA is just not up to date with the information.

If your dealer is listed in the below webpage, it should be selling genuine product.

OMG!!! Crystalline available in 6mil and got sample film some more. Lol.
It is good for you to do some research online for the product available to make sure you got the right original product. This non-original product we called it "House-brand". House-brand product is everywhere in market, it may happen in all brand, selling like original with expensive price too.

Back in year 2000, 3M already have their auto films. just that not so popular.
They do have security film, scotchshield, this products has been since day one.

About your picture, may be the dealer, using CR70 + other brand security films that what I can see from the picture. I would not rule out that they are still using genueing 3M film just that, they might be using security film which not from 3M.

If you doubt your film autentity, perhaps you can called up 3M customer service 170081 7080. whether the shop you purchase from is their autotheries dealers.

For your info, 3M film do have a marking on their film, expect for Nanos which this security film do not have marking on the film. Althought 3M mentioned about e-warranty but my installer still using normal card based. TO me still accetable due to I know the installer since in year 2000.

This 3M marking to ensure that film you are getting is from 3M.

Tinted my cruze with Raytech for over a year already and so far so good.

Am glad that I've chosen Raytech as I was comparing with other brands like V-kool and 3M that time.

Price is not cheap but that is what you can expect from a reputable brand and good product.

For people who has the budget and looking for a genuine product, i will definitely recommend Raytech....

no one talk about ecotint.... sweat.gif

my opinion, brand is one thing...but installation skills/intallation room must be pro too.
if not end up a non happy cust with bad review.
later people come say dat cust is using in house brand or fake products.
paying thousands of ringgit and end up with lousy result is not a good practice.

I've been using vkool for the past 18 years.
Good about vkool: high heat resistant. One of the best. You dont feel the heat biting your skin.

Bad thing about vkool: After certain period of time, the colour of the tint changes, to the extent that it effect the visibility.

But I like the heat resistant so I tinted my newly bought car windows with vkool last september.

Is there any better car tint in the market?
Answer: I dont know, I have never tried anything else and I dont want to take the risk (of not getting good heat resistant tint) so I used what I knew/have experience with.

Well another thing i can add about vkool, it's starts to peel after 8 years. My dad's car side windows were bad and each side costed Rm440 to replace rclxub.gif

With air cool i see 3 tiny bubbles on my rear windscreen after 8 years also.

My sister's swift came with a security tint (part of the premium package with body kit, spoiler and leather seats) and that seems good. I'm not too sure what brand is that but it's good in terms of rejecting the heat.

Hello guys!

New user of LYN and will be getting a Mazda 6 soon. I have been offered tinting service (prior to delivery - as it appears that there is only one vendor which can do for Mazda before delivery) for a hefty price. The proposed tint is VKool Elite FWS/BWS and Armorcoat for Side Windows.

Anyone able to comment on the price range for the proposed tint? And if I change it to Vkool Elite FWS/BWS and VKool 55 for Side Windows?

Appreciate the help!

VK Elite + VK 55 is definitely is better than VK + Armorcoat

Pricing - RM 3000 ++ vs RM 2000 ++
Performance - IRR 96% vs IRR 70%
Strength - High Rejection, No Safety vs Low Rejection, Got Safety

no one talk about ecotint....  sweat.gif

my opinion, brand is one thing...but installation skills/intallation room must be pro too.
if not end up a non happy cust with bad review.
later people come say dat cust is using in house brand or fake products.
paying thousands of ringgit and end up with lousy result is not a good practice.

Normally free tint will have this type of problem and
this has ntg to do with workmanship but I think you can go claim warranty

Hi guys, I heard with the new slim Smartag works fine with 3M Crystalline 70. Ay truth to this?

I want to buy the new one, so must make sure it works first otherwise it'll be a waste.

Thanks.
*
Bought and tested the new slim Smartag, it works fine. No more Smartag issues with 3M Crystalline then. So if anyone wants to tint their front with 3M Crystalline 70 just go ahead everything works like a charm.

Just a note, I almost tinted my car with Llumar but canceled because AVS70 has been discontinued and there is no alternative film with similar specs. According to the manager the AVS70 has been discontinued due to oxidation issues, discoloring, etc because of the metal used in the film.

I just had my Evoque tinted at Raytech SS2. 5mil Security film. Must say the service and follow up was excellent. It's not cheap, but worth the price.

Hi Bro, Panaramic is one of the product of Solar Gard brand. Solar Gard is USA Brand, somehow Panaramic is not the brand. Just like "Focus" is one of the model of "Ford". Somehow, for my experience, never heard about Panaramic before, the only shop carry "Solar Gard" brand in Malaysia in only "Tint Shop".

In Malaysia, there is many local brand name same with USA brand but the trademark logo totally different and the company is different also.
we heard about "Suntec" close to USA Suntek, "Solar Gard" same with USA "Solar Gard" name, but different trademark logo.

Just be careful of what yo choose.

I read their website n very impress with their high IRR with reasonable price. Moreover, it is a safety film as well.

*
As far I know some 3M dealer don't sell the old security film anymore, only Scotchshield, Nano 40s, and Nano 70s. Scotchshield is 4mil and Nano 40s and 70s is 3mil. Btw, I also looking for Crystalline 70 for front and rear and Nano 40s for side. Nano 70s is too light with 66% VLT and Scotchshield TSER is really low.

Tinted Crystalline CR 70 front & CR 60 back. Side Nano70. No change to evaluate its performance yet because night already. Tomorrow see how it's performance.

When removed my old tint I asked them to check with the 3 m gadget and found the IRR is very low compare to what they advertised. They even claimed it's Japan nano ceramic technology. Wasted time & money with the in house brand. Very unscrupulous tint shop.

Hi all, anyone know or done tinting purple reflective tinted on your car? I have seen a few cars stick dark purple or normal purple with reflective effect which means cannot look inside. Anyone know where can it be done and how much? i already have 1 layer tinted, so i just want it as color effect. Please advice.

Dear forumers,

This is a long overdue feedback after I installed my Starex with Raytech tint.

I was in between v-kool and raytech. I used Raytech before for my Kia Forte, had no issues about it except I remember I spent almost 3k for it.

So, I checked out both v-kool and raytech, test once and twice. Bring home minister and she tested too. Finally I decided with Raytech mainly because of the offer that they gave me. Really worth the money.

I took the Ultra 70 for the front windshield and Centurion 6 mil for all other windows. Performance wise I loved it. Went to Mersing and felt cool despite I was traveling during the hot afternoon. Interestingly I didn't feel my pants heating up while driving smile.gif)

Will I return if I buy a new car, u bet I will.

Thanks to bro Shawn.

I chose Nano 70s because without tint, the window glass itself is not 100% VLT, and in order to comply with JPJ rules, one should not get tint with exactly 50% VLT.

You can find the film at car accessories shop. I think the price is cheap too.

Your 1st layer film warranty will definitely void.
As for the film, I expect the color will fade after 1 or 2 year

Based on my 3M experience, the staff moves around the shops. They are not fixed. So, the staff fixing it at this shop, may be the same as the staff fixing the tint at another shop.

Anyway, for 3M, their workmanship is terrible. Good tint though...

Hey guys, anything to take note before sending car for tinting? Mine is a 2007 Toyota Camry. Is it able to do full tint with mid-range specs for under 1k? Because car is old now, probably selling it off within a year or two. Tinting is a must do because the rear window's tint is quite ruined (Right Cool) and it's about 6+ years. Car recently got a new coat of paint and replacing the tints will make the car look a lot nicer. Any advices, sifu?

You can look mid range at groupon.
Please be aware that your back windscreen demister might come off when try to remove the tint

Hi bro, remove and retint in all window is not an issue, but only there is a risk for remove previous film on the demister especially for car above 5 years. I can tell you we have many experience in handling this kind of matter, we have special treatment before take off the old film to minimize the damage on the demister line. However, we still tell our customer up front, we can't promise on the demister will not peel off.

I am with C70 for front and nano70s at side. The heat rejection is not as per my expectation.
My friend with nano40s i can feel the different. Of course on paper, the heat rejection for nano40s already more.
If i have choice again, i will choose C50 on side and forget about the safety tint

Of course darker tint = more heat rejection, but you can always use sun shade to block more visible light from side window and so far JPJ didn't say we cannot use sun shade with very low VLT.

Hi all, Just need some help on tinting..

Anyone heard of speedycool? Planning to get a Honda Jazz and that was offered at a discount by the honda dealership I was at.

If i remembered correctly, It was worth RM700 but discounted to RM500. Meaning most likely it would be a low spec one.

How much more would i pay for an established brand such as 3M, Raytech for along that similar spec for a Jazz?

Thanks.

How much to replace just for the rear? Would prefer one that can really cut out the heat.... Huper, 3M,etc

I'm currently a student, college parking always under hot sun. Finding car tint for my proton waja...

What kind of film u guys recommend? I don't need safety type as long as can reduce heat is good enough already. Been searching for the net quite a long time but still scare cheap tint affect body health.

I have check back my invoice that don't have any cars go for Fully Huper Optik package that around that price including SA dealer in December except for Mix. If you go for Fully HO package will need to wait for your Official Warranty card for 1-2 months from Smart Window, impossible can get it within 1-2 weeks.
If you want confirm you are fully HO package from your SA can just PM me your invoice number nod.gif

After reading them I am beginning to have doubts on the content. What is he/she trying to get at?
Not doubting the quality of the product itself. I am using HO in one of my car and am satisfied with it.

Just to share something i found online. Useful information on selecting a good tinting product. What do you guys think?

QUOTE
Step 1. Filter the Good brand window film that carry and selling USA film. Do some research on the brand’s website, figure out the background of the brand and the supplier/ manufacturer behind the brand. Many window tinted brand unable to reveal this information as they are not selling USA product, and there are not information about their manufacturer.

After choosing the right brand, goes to step 2.

Step 2. Make sure you buying the right product of the brand. Do not cheated with "House Brand". Many dealers in market today buying franchise from USA brand to attract customer come into their shop, but they selling a lot of other low grade product to customer, instead of original product. These non-original product called "House Brand" which is also from Korea, Taiwan & China film. In fact, many people have no idea they are using the fake product, as the dealer still giving warranty card on 'House-Brand" products. Unfortunately, most people maybe don't know about their tinted warranty only valid in that particular shop where they tinted their car.

Example : Let say Volkswagen is a good car brand. If you are buying the non original Volkswagen car from one dealer, and you unable to claim warranty in any other Volkswagen workshop, you must go back the shop where you buy this car for service and warranty claim. Why? it is because you are not purchase a real Volkswagen car at the beginning, so means you being cheated paying money on non-original product. Of course, this will not happen in real life, as we all know how to see those car model, but window film is different story. People really don't know how to differential it.

How to figure out the original product of the brand? It is simple. Figure out the original product in website, check on the available product model and film specification. Normally original product is printed the brand logo on the tinted film and pack with original packaging.

Step 3. To make sure you choose the right tint film. Go to the shop personally, test the film personally with spotlight, and request for solar meter device testing. After filtered the right brand and the right product. Now start survey by comparing the film quality, film performance, film price, film color, film reflective, film warranty coverage, testimonial etc.

Don't proceed to step 3, before step 1 & 2.

Wah 8 mil got affect your power window?

I installed a 6 mil Raytech CS for my Civic and after 1 year the power window got damaged. Luckily Honda repaired the power window for free biggrin.gif

Even now after 5 years can still hear squealing when winding down the window.

Hi bro, actually 6mil safety film is working quite ok with most of the power window, as it is not so thick. As professional opinion, Raytech does not recommend safety film that above 6mil as it will burden and may disruption the power window after 1-2 years. Somehow, thicker film does not means it is better in term of safety, laboratory report on physical performance of safety film in more important. Raytech safety film special engineered between 4-6mil make in USA world class manufacturer, which provide sufficient safety features to consumer car used. We do not make safety film thicker than 6mil.

Did my cars tint at Raytech after contacting Shawn.
After a few weeks I can say is good.

The tint I picked for City is 65% dark, look quite dark during noon but not so dark at nite... must be daylight reflection more so is look darker at daytime vs night.

Guys,

Any good tint recommendation for my Camry front screen only.
I have been using 3M for my car unfortunately I'm sick n tired of winding down my window whenever I have to pass along same tag lane.

I'm looking for front screen tint replacement with high uv rejection rate n smartag friendly as well as I'm only planning to change my front screen tint only.

Kindly advise.

I've jz finished a tint job on my baby, and it looks F***ING DARK... When I was in the shop I saw a tint like 75%, it wasn't all that dark, in fact it looks JPJ passable at least. When I went to collect my car at night, damn, do I have trouble driving it.... It's a pain driving at night =_=.. Since its my first time doing tinted I learnt my lesson... I know its impossible to lighten a tinted... I have to peel it and re-tint my side and front window to 40%

Bro, you make mistake here.

You should put the sample near to your glass windows look at it
different angle because your glass is not 100% transparent.

Hi, normally I will recommend very dark window film for sun roof, VLT below 30%. That make you feel comfortable and cooler. Some people they might like very clear film for sun roof too. This is depend on your personal favorite. By the way, for your information, Sun roof is not part of car window that restrict by JPJ rules and regulations.

Hi bro,

1) If you wish the window film compliant with JPJ.
a) Front Windscreen = above 70% VLT
b) The rest window = above 50% VLT

2) If you can accept dark film, Non compliant with JPJ. But clear vision on day and night, and people can look into you.
a) Front Windscreen = at least 50% VLT
b) The rest window = Between 30% - 40% VLT.

Window Film below 30% VLT is too dark at night. Hard to see clear on night vision.
Be smart to choose your film.

To solve your current problem, I may suggest you just change the front windscreen tint film to brighter film and see how the result.
If the problem unsolved, then you change your rear windscreen tint film.
If the problem still unsolved, then you can change another 4 doors tint film. smile.gif

If the problem still unsolved, then you can change another 4 doors tint film.  smile.gif

My driver side and passanger side have to change, cuz its too dark. Its 75% dark-tinted. Front I can see but my top side, I tinted too much. I paste a black sticker 10 inches wide. Need to reduce to 7 inch... Haiz... So I just change my front to 40% tint and side to also 40. Rear to 50%.

Do the side windows' tint take twice as long for it to cure compared to the front and back windscreens?
*
Yes, because FWS and BWS normally is 2Mil film and curing period is about 2-3weeks
For side, depends on the thickness of the film and normally 4Mil will take about 1-2 month to cure.

Winshield is not a great brand, yet selling expensive with its Korea Window Film. My previous CIty was tinted in Winshield, SS2 few years back as recommended by my salesman. It is one of the "so called" good brands product, my car is tinted with RM1800 tint and I actually feel so hot. Thus, I make a complaint to my salesman, my salesman say the tinted is fixed can not be taken out, he suggest me to tint a second layer so I can feel better.

Somehow, there is no JPJ guarantee for that. What the hell is this all about vmad.gif Why should I tint second layer and trouble myself? Why the film is so out of standard? Recommend by salesman as good brand, maybe this brand provide good commission to the Honda salesman?

After read though these window film thread, what these sifus mentioned are right, never go for brands that are unable to review the brand's background, manufacturer, supplier, and those brands that you never heard of before. It's a waste of your money vmad.gif

Yes, we call it as shampoo mark. Normally it appear on Safety Film
This is because shampoo chemical reaction with the film adhesive (glue)

It might take up to 3 months for all the shampoo mark disappear depends on the weather and thickness of the film.
If the shampoo mark still there after 6 months, you can go back to shop and ask for warranty claim.

Any good tint recommendation for my Camry front screen only.
I have been using 3M for my car unfortunately I'm sick n tired of winding down my window whenever I have to pass along same tag lane.

hi guys, checking in cause i'm thinking of replacing my tint.
just want to know what's the difference between using just a normal groupon tinting vs known brands?

my current tint was by advance auto guard if im not mistaken using advant cool(i forgot where i put the warranty card).

sample groupon deal
and then my FWS broke as it was hit by rock during my drive. now i replaced a new one but without tinting

also if i were to use lower percentage of tinting(surely not jpj compliant) what would the risk, to say, of the tint protection in long term and will it effect the glass?

Guys, I got quoted RM1800 for my Hyundai i10 for Raytech CS85 & Ultra 70.
The shop that quote me is one of the authorised dealer listed in Raytech Msia website.

Is it overpriced? Or reasonable?
I asked for discount, he say discount to RM1500...

Hi Guys,

I need a favour from you guys. I'm planning to tint my e200 which im focused more on security and cooolness. This is the promo price im getting from my sales man.

Vkool 6mil is RM4300.00 and 8 mil is RM5000.00

For wingard..they have only 6mil . the price is RM4000.00

Do you think this is the right price?

my SA at Honda offerring Ecotint for Honda Accord.

1)RB Signature package -RM3000 10 yr warranty

FWS - RB 01 - SER 67%, IRR 97% - not security film
RWS - Ray Barrier (RB) Signature Class (SC) - Solar Energy rejection 67%, IR rejection97% - security film.

Windows - RB SC A6 - 6 millions security film and heat/IR rejection as above

2)Hybrid Premier RM2500 - 8 yrs war.

FWS - RB 01
RWS - RB 01
Windows - Hybrid 6 millions film - Solar rejection 56%, IRR 90%

3)Hybrid classic RM1700 - 8 yrs
FWS adn RWS - Std USA film - SER only 45%, IRR 70%
Windows - security film 4 millions, SER 56% and IRR 90%

ANybody got experience with Ecotint films?

I am thinking , front and rear windscreen heat rejection is most important, so the std USA films in classic hybrid sure is insufficient. Any comment?

Go tot get the latest smart tag which is black in color, when approaching toll, do it at a slow speed. The smart tag should be tilt at a 45 degree angel.
Meaning to say is not sited flat on the dash board.

The smart tag should place at the highest point of your dash board. It shouldnt hv any problem..on smart tag with 3M Crystalline.

3M nano is the latest security & solar film 2 in 1 combination.

If you wanted black then go for the Color Stable, you will be satisfied with its black color.

But dun expect the heat rejected on par with Crystalline or 3M Nano

Hi, does the thicker the tint will hurt the power window ?

Considering Raytech Centurions RX 4mil & 6mil.

Is it 6mil will get high chance to cause damage to the power window ?
