Reposta in V3 since nobody answered in V2

Question to you guys about AA transfers.

If you go AA website, you can now buy "transfer" tickets. For example I can key in Origin Singapore, Destination Paris, and I can have the option to buy the SG --> KL and KL --> Paris together. You know ... like every other airline in the world.

Question though, is this any different from buying the two legs separately? As in, will they transfer my bags in KL automatically to the KL --> Paris leg? Or will I still have to check out, take bags, etc etc in KL anyways?

Also, if the first leg delayed and cause me to miss second leg, will AA still tell me we are point to point carrier so gtfo?

Airasia do not allowed passenger to bring drinking water onto flight but yet you can buy drinking water in the boarding hall and bring onto flight.

is the drinking water in the boarding hall different from others?

From what i understand, if you bought SIN-KUL-ORY in 1 ticket, the luggage should be all the way to Orly. Only separate tickets need to check out then re-check in again.

Err.... for delayed flights, usually for full commercial airlines, they will either offer you the next earliest flight available. Not sure if they will offer free 1 night stay at Tune Hotels or not due to this. You should probably read the T&C fine print or email or call them directly to enquire.

I think this is because the airline do not feel secure with the bottle of water you are bringing before immigration due to you might have dangerous liquid inside (explosive n stuff). And the water bottle bought from the boarding hall is trustable since they have to go thru check point before entering the shops there.

Quite useless. For example, from Kuching to overseas, 99% of route offered are direct flight to LCCT or Johore etc. In other word, almost all are one stop flight anyway.

I wanted to know also.

Take for example you took a holiday in Vietnam for 7 days.

With normal insurance, I know it covers the flight delay, lost luggage etc PLUS all the 7 days touring Vietnam (accident, lost of life, medical etc etc).

But with AA insurance, does it only cover the flight but not the 7 days touring Vietnam?

Not so simple.

Your outward flight with AA is under one reference number but homeward bound different reference number, a very common occurrence. It may not be covered. With normal travel insurance, you are.

Please click on the link that I have given in previous post. It will show what you can claim from AA's insurance. What is not stated there, obviously cannot claim.

From the looks of it, the benefits are TOO LITTLE with the price that we have to pay.

Best to buy 3rd party's insurance.

Normally i also dun buy travel insurance too but next month going to HK on a longer trip lasting 11 days.... so a bit itchy to buy insurance.
I'm not very familiar with AA insurance, but from my understanding is that its worth taking insurance for Return Cover policy because it includes Accidental & Sickness Medical Reimbursement... i.e: hospitalization.... One-Way Cover dun hv this feature.
Is my understanding correct? i just briefly read their website.

Some CC have travel insurance and some don't and it's only for the flight itself, not tours. And their condition are more stringent (for example, flight cancellation not covered if it caused delay in final arrival).

This is my understanding as well. And if you made separate outward and inward booking, I don't think they are covered also. For example, if you outward flight reference is ABC123 and inward is CDE123, they are not covered under Return Cover.

I flew to Melbourne with AA. Then took domestic flight Virgin to Gold Coast. And then return to KL from Gold Coast with AA. The AA insurance did not cover my medical there because it is not a return flight from Melbourne.

This is one of the precise reason why I reckon it's better to get a proper travel insurance from elsewhere.

If AA's insurance url does not have the benefits that you have asked, it means dun have lor. Of course I've gone through the link, just pasted it out here so you can refer to it. It is already not a comprehensive travelling insurance, you should really buy the ones offered by a full fledged insurance company.

There are several outside travel insurance like AXA, MSIG, Chartis etc. Anyone got any 1st hand experience with their claim? I mentioned 'claim' because until you made a claim, you will know how good or bad they are.

some questions regarding self check-in;

1) if i use web check-in but i don't have printer then i can get it in barcode and print at airport right? where should i proceed to print my boarding pass in LCCT?

ok, i thought it's free if i print my boarding pass at airport
QUOTE
No printer? No worries!
Choose email or SMS (smart phones only) to get your 2D barcode so you can scan and print your boarding pass at the airport.

but then i read this,
QUOTE
If you have done a web check in, you will need to print out your boarding pass before you arrive at the Airport.

If you do not have access to a printer, but have already done a web check in, you may proceed to our Baggage Drop Counter to print the boarding pass. Please note, after the 21st September 2011 when you approach the counters for a boarding pass print, it shall be considered as check in and therefore check in fee of RM10 will be imposed.(This applies to all bookings done on and after 21st September 2011)

so, it's free or not? rclxub.gif

2) i used kiosk check-in before. my question is, if the kiosk is down and i have to use counter check-in, will they charge extra fee on me? i met this situation before but that time they haven't implement the counter check-in fee rule.

thanks in advance smile.gif

Just joined on v2 & v3 start already!

Hey you guys, just a word of warning about AirAsia policy of purchasing tickets at different times for the same flight, do not share a bag even with your wife, it is their policy to charge you for the extra weight.

Here is a brief of my story that I believe bordered on discrimination against disabled passengers, (I broke my kneecap after purchasing tickets).

My original plans were for me to travel alone but I acted upon AirAsia's advice to book an extra ticket for my wife and subsequently got penalised for it. Apparantly I am not allowed to share a bag with my wife if we did not purchase the tickets at the same time. So here I was on crutches listening to check-in staff saying I must pay for the extra weight or not be allowed on the flight. They seriously thought that I should have burdened my wife with 2 bags when I am temporarily disabled & cannot help her carry them. They could not accept this was an exceptional circumstance & show some common sense by allowing the combined weight for our baggage. An unbelievably inflexible attitude!

I would like to add that this did not happen in Malaysia, but we both travelled from Penang to KL & then onto Stansted & received fantastic customer service from AirAsia staff, and no, we did not have to pay extra for our shared baggage in Malaysia, this only happened on the return leg to KL.

Full story on my Air Asia complaint and poor customer service

There are 3 types of self check in and they don't work exactly the same.

1. Web Check In.
You must have access to your own printer to print the boarding pass. It does not give you any 2D bar code. You can also opt to have the boarding pass send to either your email or SMS (this SMS merely give you a web link that will show you your boarding pass). Either way, you MUST have your own printer to utilize this option.

2. Mobile Check In
You will be given a 2 D bar code to your Smartphone. Use this 2D bar code, walk to a printing kiosk at airport and print your boarding pass.

3. Kiosk
At airport. You do your own check in and it immediately print out your boarding pass.

Are you talking about 2 hand luggage or check in luggage?

If it was check in luggage, then they will not allow the weight to be combined because it's 2 different booking.

If it was hand luggage, then they are inhuman because there are 2 of you so of course your wife can also carry yours for you.

Hi Optiplex330,

It was for checked in luggage, we were unaware of such a rule at the time so this is my reasoning for posting it so may be someone else does not suffer the same fate as I did.

fyi......AirAsia staff in Malaysia during these flights were fantastic towards us in understanding my temporary disability. It was only at Stansted that we encountered such inflexible attitudes to what was in my view, an exceptional circumstance.

As far as I know, only those tickets that share the same booking number can share the luggage weight. But yeah, sometimes it depends on the staff as well. Some might be kind enough to let you pass through while most of it no.

Thanks for your info, but I still have questions biggrin.gif
QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Nov 15 2011, 07:13 AM)
There are 3 types of self check in and they don't work exactly the same.

1. Web Check In.
You must have access to your own printer to print the boarding pass. It does not give you any 2D bar code. You can also opt to have the boarding pass send to either your email or SMS (this SMS merely give you a web link that will show you your boarding pass). Either way, you MUST have your own printer to utilize this option. So AA is giving wrong information on their website? As I quoted in my previous post, they said I can have the 2D bar code via email or SMS then scan and print out at airport.

2. Mobile Check In
You will be given a 2 D bar code to your Smartphone. Use this 2D bar code, walk to a printing kiosk at airport and print your boarding pass. May I know the 2D bar code will be sent in what format? SMS/MMS/a web link?

3. Kiosk
At airport. You do your own check in and it immediately print out your boarding pass.

You can check-in 2 or many more luggage provided if the combined weight is not more than 15kg. I hv done that so many times and on my recent trip days ago, I did it again by checking 2 backpacks wth total weight 14.8kg. no problem

There was 1 occassion my total combined luggages >15Kg and what I did is quicky take out those chargers (Notebook & h/phone) & some clothings out & hand carry. Settled haha

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Nov 15 2011, 07:13 AM)
Are you talking about 2 hand luggage or check in luggage?

If it was check in luggage, then they will not allow the weight to be combined because it's 2 different booking.

If it was hand luggage, then they are inhuman because there are 2 of you so of course your wife can also carry yours for you.

AFAIK, only checking by Mobile Check In will you be given this bar code as shown here. By email but I think they also send by MMS via SMS. The SMS part I am not sure. None given for Web Check In.

I believe that you can go back to Manage My Booking and get it reprinted or resent to your mobile.

They say they will send the policy to my house and stuff but still got nothing. Wondering if it was a scam cause I did pass my IC number to them. sad.gif

AirAsia's Fernandes slams Malaysia terminal cost

AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes has slammed Malaysian airport authorities after they announced costs for a new low-cost carrier terminal would double and it would be delayed by more than a year.

The maverick head of the budget airline said in a Twitter post seen Wednesday that Malaysia Airports Holdings was the "worst-run Malaysian company."

Malaysia Airports said in a press release that the new terminal near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and known as klia2 will be "the world's largest purpose-built terminal for low-cost carriers".

The company said the terminal, whose main tenant is Malaysia-based AirAsia, will be bigger than originally announced and will have fully automated baggage handling systems to cater for 45 million passengers a year.

"klia2 has been significantly upgraded with superior facilities compared to the original design to be a more passenger-friendly terminal," the company said in its statement Tuesday.

But because of the "enhancements", costs are expected to reach up to 3.9 billion ringgit ($1.2 billion), up from an initial 2.0 billion ringgit, and the airport is targeted to start operations in April 2013 instead of being completed by the third quarter of 2011.

Malaysia Airports said it had engaged AirAsia "throughout the development process". But Fernandes called the costs "whopping" in another Tweet and predicted further expenses.

"Full of empty promises," Fernandes wrote. "30 million passengers is already one of the largest terminals in the world... Now suddenly 45 million passengers."

Fernandes is frequently at odds with the airport management company. In 2009, AirAsia unveiled plans to shift to its own airport as frustrations rose over its shabby and overcrowded terminal. But the government vetoed the plan.

AirAsia has become one of the airline industry's biggest success stories after Fernandes, a former music industry executive, acquired the then-failing company a decade ago.

You need to compare. hard to say.. sometime during bug sales, if u can't get the AA promo, the AA go still having similar promo and during this time, the price really tempting. AA last time JV wth hostelworld so the price is similar to what hostelworld offer. but not sure now.

You can't even check your booking if you don't have a user id & password.

What you can do now is, create a user id & password.

Call up the call centre and tell them to tie up your booking # to your user ID. You can log into manage my booking shortly after to do any changes.

What do you mean 'check our booking status'?

Anytime after you have paid for your booking, can check.

If check in - anytime after booking, can check in already - that way you get seats which is more to the front rows.

After I research, AirAsiaGo is only cheaper if u buy "flight+hotel" but not the "tour"

example: Island Hopping, Eagle Feeding, Pulau Beras Basah and Pulau Dayang Bunting.
in AirAsiaGo it costs RM55.29/person while on other website, the tour can cost u RM25/person for same package tour.

It's not actually a booking machine. It's just a searching machine to tell you which date is the cheapest and yes, it's realiable.

No, it is not a cheat thing. It's the same as other airline, when they have promotion coming up, prices are always lower than the normal price.

For eg. If you go to Gucci last week and bought a bag for RM1000 and then this week they have sale of the same bag at 50% discount, would that be cheating you? No, it's just that at times we are blinded by the fact that that current price is low but infact, it's not. Then again, we will not be able to predict the future IF the prices are going to drop or not. That is why we buy it at the previous price and then finding out they have a sale now, making you feel cheated.

What is bought is already bought so, no regrets yea.

There is few type of promo price under during airasia promotion.. The lowest of couse the '0' fare but seldom get this, and normally 2-3 range of promo price before the normal price.. Airasia always got promotion, so maybe when u bought it previously, its not the lowest price but still cheaper than normal price..

It depends on your luck actually.. However, dun be sad.. At least you get cheaper than the normal price.

Anyway when are you going to osaka? How much do you pay? .

Well you can call them to confirm. Also usually if there are any problems with the flight - such as delay or cancel, air asia will call you or sms or email you.

Well, packages are usually like this, the hotels are always based on where you land. I think it's normal since I think the system that they are using will be alot more complicated if you can select other cities instead of the city that you arrive in.

I am abit old fashioned and worried that something might go wrong for web-check in. Okay, is this the correct procedure for web-check in:

1- Do web-check in and print the boarding pass.
2- At LCCT, go to Document Check counter (without check-in bad).

Thats all right? Also, where is the Document Check counter and how is the queue since majority will go there?
Thanks

^yap can be like that OR

1- Do web-check in and print the boarding pass IN LCCT from the QR Machine (u will receive the QR link to your phone from AirAsia and you need to "download" the QR code.

If I'm not mistaken for "bag drop" u still need go to counter so u just show ur Printed Boarding Pass

haha, don't worry la. I used to be old fashioned too. I prefer to queue and check in at the counter so no mistakes are done.

Web check ins are OK actually.

Yup, the procedure that you've typed is correct.

The queue for baggage drop/doc checking is so much shorter than the actual check in counter....... i tell u, that time have to wait forever to check in, i got pissed off then i just web check in for AA/AAX flights dy.

But for full commercial airline, i still go counter to check in coz ..... free tongue.gif

length =44cm (standard length = 56cm)
Height=25cm (standard height = 36cm)

Appreciate anyone who reply.

Would like to confirm that bookings on August 2011 dont have to pay RM10 for counter check-in, right? Cant seem to find from the website when is the cut off date.
*
I think now they charge for all counter check ins. Just use web check in really easy. If you got iphone even easier, can download the apps and it will check in even easier. Give you the code and go to a scanner and it will print out your tickets.

It is allowed, just don't too big by a lot... Normal cabin bags will fit and they are +/- 3-5cms.

Bookings made before the enforced date are still able to check in over the counter FOC.
Yeah, some of those designated cabin bags exceed the dimension by 2-3 cms.

Based on the previous RM10 fare, total fare with taxes and all is RM7xx which is SUPER cheap. At that time I kept booking and kept getting errors when want to make payment. Sigh!!

well, their promos are only like a couple of times a year, don't think it's justifiable to upgrade their servers for this.

Whether AirAsia's server will get choked or not depending on how complete the routes covered.
Anyhow we will be synching our data with them to provide an overview of when and where the low fares are. We will also be posting updates on the data status live!

There's this thing called cloud computing today where you can easily pay to add temporary resources when needed only.

With faster servers they can sell tickets faster and more people would be doing impulse buys instead of being turned away. AA is only losing sales IMO with their slow servers.

should be included tax already right since all in and both flights to & flo?

Of course knowing it'll be damn hard to get that type of deal, at least set some marginal extra should be ok. Tempted to book HK

Yea,

shld b included tax already. Coz i saw BKK one is at RM52.10 (the 10 cents shld b the fare and RM52 shld be the taxes n all).

Oh gosh, saw the list departing from BKK to KUL is RM101. Like that total fare is like RM153.10 which is quite good IMO.

Fares to TPE is RM279 but dun have any fares from TPE to KUL. Current promo price return is RM650 (not incl. luggage & food & IFE). Wonder if that's a good price.

I'm in the process of completing my details or in payment stage when the next thing I click I see Website Internal Error.

This happened 3-4 times.

Now I'm stuck in waiting room. Screw yourself Airasia.

secure myself 10cent tix excluding taxes to Phuket.

Total Return flight Phuket RM127+RM16 processing fee. Which is cheap.

On the departure/arrival Day itself, i'll get myself skybus from One Utama To LCCT. which is cheap aswell.. plus minus still under RM200 for return flight + transfer to LCCT

You can ask an airasia operator to do it through live webchat. I did mine for my previous trip. However, mine was just a minor change. E.g. in my IC it's Adam Lee Bla Bla but i booked with just Adam Lee. I asked them if it's ok and they offered to change it for me and then resent a new iternary.

I managed to buy mine. I tried a couple more times and this time I reached the payment page. I selected direct debit to pay and when I click submit in my online banking website to do the payment, the transaction failed. But airasia keeps the booking for me for a period of time for me to do payment. I tried again with direct debit but still failed in the transaction part. Then I gave up and pay using credit card instead. And it worked first time. Guess they really want that additional money from processing fee.

secure myself 10cent tix excluding taxes to Phuket.

Total Return flight Phuket RM127+RM16 processing fee. Which is cheap.

On the departure/arrival Day itself, i'll get myself skybus from One Utama To LCCT. which is cheap aswell.. plus minus still under RM200 for return flight + transfer to LCCT

I also bought myself the same ticket...rm 127 with processing fees! Happy...

on march to bangkok...i got it on their past rm3 promotion...
but the total price i have to pay last time is even lower than this current 10 cent promotion
mainly because of the increase of airport tax.... shakehead.gif
so decided on this current promotion to travel locally...
Kota Kinabalu...on october...just for rm32.20 laugh.gif
thanks AA for making everyone can fly...

Stay up late to fish for cheap tickets and instead get a nightmare.
I made a double booking and spending 4 hours after that trying to find info to get a refund and brought me to this thread.
From what I gather the most I can get refunded is the airport tax (what about the fuel surcharge?).
Any suggestion on the procedure to get the most refund? Go to their office(where?) or to call their expensive hotline?

I booked a KL-Melb return flight for my brother in Sept2011 at a promo of rm983. Then early this morning book similar tickets (same date same flight) at a promo of rm756. Only discovered when I checked the confirmation at my airasia account.

Fare price was rm290.
Fuel Surcharge - rm140.
Airport tax - rm 310.
Processing - rm 16.

Now feel groogy after a bad sleep of 3 hours. HELP!

I believe that you can actually claim back the full amount since you have booked for a ticket with the same name on the same dates.

Do call their call centre by today so you can get an answer on what the outcome is though.

If you have time to go to their office, why not? But maybe it's a safer bet to ask first before going there? If you can do it online or on the phone, then why wasting petrol & time to go to their office right? I think their main office is in LCCT.

Don't bother calling. I've heard too many bad experiences. They will put on hold or drag the call and until you know it, you've been charged like RM50 for your call.

Do it online via live chat or go directly to their office.

fuuuu, at last im utilizing AA promo at the max

July
Return Tix to Phuket ( 9 days trip) 1 person
RM 127 (all in) + RM16 CC fee = RM 143
Plan to go to stay in Phuket (at least 2 places) and Phi Phi (at least 2 nights)

Oct
Return Tix to Krabi (5 days trip) 2 person
RM310 (all in ) + RM20 CC fee = RM330
Plan to stay in Krabi and Koh Lanta

Albeit Krabi and Phuket is darn close (2 hours away by bus) but each served different purpose. 1 for funky-panky stay | 1 for chilling out

It's highly unlikely you will get another good promo for HK. I booked zero fare(yes, RM0 juz pay Rm25 for airport tax) to HK during end of last year's promo. That was the last time I see zero fare for HK. Probably it's due to HK being a very popular destination.

Airport tax, yes. Fuel surcharge, not sure. Why not ask airasia via livechat? Btw, you can try to change your return date and see how much extra u need to pay. Then do a comparison between the two options.

Took your advice and call them at their premiumline 600859999. What a fantastics service eventhough tel charges is rm12.40. The CS guy actually ask for my telno and call me back after confirming with his manager to save my phone charges. His call to me was 20 min long (most of the time on hold while he submitted in a report to process for a full refund). Refund will be credited into my credit card account after 30 days.

I suggest those buying promo in advance not to buy luggages, insurance, seat num, food & etc till the very last minutes.. to avoid chances you forfeit the ticket due to wrong schedule or wrong timing bcos the only thing you can claim back is the Airport tax & nothing else...

means that the luggage, seats, food and misc things are set at fixed price and never change even though we book last minute?

Yes, the price is fixed.

Surprisingly, the line is so smooth now that doesn't seems like there's a promotion going on. No error, no waiting.

Ya the line is smooth now but it seems that most of the RM 0.10 flight sold out. Or some left for 1-2 persons only.

If u are able to book means it's still available. Rooms which are fully booked usually do not appear when you want to book.

Same goes for other websites for booking of air tickets or hotel rooms.

that's why it's important to book early..hehehehehe...
such popular place for tourist of course already sold out....
but you can still find 10 cent for return flight if you are lucky

Yeah. I've got a 6am flight back from Bali. This the first from AA that I've got to buy so early. Luckily staying at Club Med so I think they can arrange for me. Wanted to book for July but ended up in Sept. Got kicked out 4 times. sweat.gif

I previously back from overseas & accidentally bought AA insurance for the air ticket. I'm actually already bought from other co.

When I got my baggage I found that the extendable holder was broken and wheels was came out.
I kept walked around the airport and visited few counter as mentioned by the staffs still none of the counter can make it. They just kept asked me refer to the different counter. I'd walked and walk around lcct. I just saw alot of counter and vending machine of buying AA insurance and selling others services but none of the counter for after service. damn!
Its heavy rain that evening, my baggage & I was wet, so I just gave up at last.

Next day, I found AA website mentioned I can claim it after I left the airport, within 7 days. I mailed AA to make the report they replied nearly 2 weeks and request me to report to another email together with the "baggage damage report letter" which get from lcct airport.

Turn a big round, just pay for nothing!
I failed to get a baggage damage report letter to claim for AA insure and even my insurance company.

Can anyone tell me where is the counter to make the claim report?
I never expect to claim AA insurance but our own insurance co.

No doubt, AA airfare is competitive but better SAY NO to the AA INSURE and others services!!

I did claim from AA insurance (MSIG) last year for damage to 2 luggages - got RM190.
My 2 luggages cost less than that.

There's no counter, all through email to AA insurance (which ever company is issuing the insurance)
You need the damage report letter, photos of the damaged luggage and sent to relevant insurance company.
I think need to fill in another form from the insurance company. Follow up - call the insurance company and ask about your case.

Claim in excess of RM50. If your luggage cost RM50, claim for RM120 so you get maybe RM50.
Hope it helps. Do it fast, I think there's a time limit for claims.

My mum and her friends are go to India next week. They're flying with AirAsia. I already web checked-in for them. So, once at KL, they will need to check-in their luggage before going to the departure gate. Is the check-in counters are congregated near the McD only or there's another check-in counters somewhere near the OldTown? I usually fly domestically so I'm not very familiar with international check-in counter. Where does the international baggage drop off counter usually located at? I need to advise them accordingly because they are going on ttheir own and they're not familiar with all these.

Hi,

Not sure if India will be categorized at the AA or AAX check in baggage area though. If not mistaken it should be AA area (where domestic check in as well). There is an information counter there that they could ask if they are not sure.

There isn't any fixed baggage drop counter for a fixed flight sector. If there is, the existing lcct check in counters maynot be enough for all sectors. You got to look up at the check in information display board ( LCD panel ). Search for your flight no, then look for the counter's alphabet. But the easiest way is to ask any aa staff at the airport.

Huh ? I try to "GUESS" the answer in your language accordingly.
So Taipei to kk is "normal one" and kk to Taipei is not a "normal one" and date flight isn't cannot change because AirAsia rescheduled your flight form kk to Taipei. Can understand ? tongue.gif

Actually smart traveller boarding last. There are many passenger "competing" to board the plane last. Why wait 15 to 30 min in a cramp and stuffy cabin for the last passenger to board the plane ? Boarding first and sitting at an aisle seat and get up twice again for the meddle seat and window seat passengers to get in ? doh.gif

Actually the reason why people competing to board in first because some stupid ******* will put their hand carry at the overhead compartment even though the seat does not belongs to them. This cause a person who sit below the overhead compartment got no space to put their handcarry and the stewardess will put it some far from their seat.

The above was long time ago, since 7kg and 1 hand carry strictly enforced, more passengers use lite and soft cover carrying bags. Carrying standard cabin size hard shelve 20" case will take up 3 kg of your allowance and easy target of being eye-picked by AA staff manning the gate to weight your hand carry. Now plenty of overhead compartment space.
NO need to hurry hurry queue 20min at the gate then wait 20 min in the plane then get up again for me the board the plane to sit at the window seat. Hahaha.

Dun understand why they all like to board first. Like u say, wait n then get up and wait again. So mah fan.

I always board LAST - literally the LAST person to board. Who cares if I get to sit first? I dun see a point. Passengers who put their bags at other seat's compartment - usually i'll call the stewardess and they take the bag and put other place (far away one like u say). Since it's not fair to others that need that space coz they sit there.

I love sitting at the back of the plane though, less noise and less interference. In the front rows - my god...... no comment. This is regardless of any airline though. I always pick to sit behind. biggrin.gif

Haha you must be the one who compete with me to board last biggrin.gif A tip for those who want to boarding last, sit at the gate next to your boarding gate. brows.gif

Oh...! another advantage of boarding last, you can push adjust the hand carry of other passengers who boarded earlier in the overhead compartment further in and place your bag near the compartment door. brows.gif
Perhaps a better way to say is by boarding last, you can prevent your hand carry being push further in or stack on.

Say, for the luggage weight-allowance(15/20/..kg) fee, must we settle both trips before departure, or for the return flight we can actually select/pay even when we are already overseas?

Say, for the luggage weight-allowance(15/20/..kg) fee, must we settle both trips before departure, or for the return flight we can actually select/pay even when we are already overseas?
*
For return ticket, the leg out of origin country - if you have not checked in via web, you can still buy whatever you want (food, IFE (if available), luggage allowance). Not sure about the part where you are about to come back to country of origin though.

As long as she doesn't web check in the return flight, she still can buy the baggage and meal while in overseas. But bear in mind that there is a few hours time limit to the departue time and also pray hard that her online payment can go thru in time of need.

As mentioned before many times (even the post above also says it. Next time please go through everything before asking), if you have not checked in via web, you can still purchase the baggage, food etc via manage my booking.

AA have limited stock. So, can't put up for pre order. You need to ask from the cabin crew when on board. But not worth renting, cos it is just a media player only. Bring you own gadget la.

Well at least you can experience hail maybe and gale force winds...A lot of people don't believe weather in Perth can get bad especially for those who visit in summer only.

In general, electronic devices that are meant to transmit signals(phones, gps devices..) arent allowed on flight, but the ones that emits to almost none (gamestuff, tablets, lappy, mp3s, camera) are allowed but only when the plane is at stabilized height

For AA specific, i do not know

The D7 CEO said it's nothing but a plain rumor but it is no secret that the load to New Delhi and Mumbai is very bad. Those Indian airlines and even Malaysia Airlines are doing much better than Air Asia X on these sectors. So don't be surprised if they really do drop these routes in the near future.

International or Domestic flight ? For international flight, you do not have to pay for the check in fee. If you have already prepaid for it, you can submit a refund request.

Yeap, should be no problem but really depends on the size of your stand. I brought big LED on my way back to Malaysia on Nov; was stopped after X-Ray but still OK and let me go.

Check with the beautiful ladies at the counter.

Yes I tried it but did not get it, booked too late. Did you google around? Each AAX flight for example only has 12 premium seats altogether and most of them are taken up by paying passengers so you need to be very early to get it.

The only problem is that optiontown uses USD so they charge you USD (converted to RM at a certain date) then they refund you in USD (converted back to RM at a different date) so you could profit or lose depending on the exchange rate.

Yes FOC. but with conditions. Re-time less than 60 min, you can only rescheduled within the same date. If re-time more than 60min you can rescheduled within 7 days before or after the initial booked date. You will received re-time sms with a password to key in to the IVR system to access AA re-time call center.

You can click or search for 'food menu' at AA's website.

It's definately different.

*
Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully can get it too!
But if I'm really get it, then it will double up everything that I had pre-purchase such as meals, luggage allowances, etc...
Because I only notice the offer after I make the purchase of everything ... Too bad...
Anyway, do hope for the best! rclxms.gif

Found it.... under In-flight services... biggrin.gif

but still not mention any price doh.gif

Only found this:
Pre-book meals
Looking for a deal? Pre-book online to save up to 15% on meals and avoid the disappointment of not getting the meals you want onboard.

What if I bought any food inside the terminal (before boarding)... can bring or not inside? My trip will reach the destination quite late, I afraid cannot find any halal food that time. My 1st time using AA for oversea flight.

This is my 1st trip with family, so I going to make sure all are happy. If alone like before, don't care much. Some more my kids kuat makan...

You just need to put the passport on the machine.. no need to see any officer.

Anyway, why not renew the mykad.. it's only take on day now.

What are the prohibited items to be carried on board the aircraft?

According to International Travel Standards, you may not carry the following articles into the security restricted area and on board an aircraft.

(a) Any Guns, Firearms & Weapons;

(b) Pointed/edged Weapons & Sharp Objects;

© Blunt Instruments;

(d) Explosives and flammable substances;

(e) Chemical and toxic substances;

This list is not exhaustive and other items may be included. Our crew reserves the right to confiscate any item deemed as a threat to the safety of our guests.

Apart from items on the International Travel Standards list, some airports may have added restrictions. To ensure you comply by the rules always check with the airport before you fly.

Not to say burnt la...
Just double up everything only ... The only burnt was pick-a-seat payment if optiontown really give u those upgrade.
Dont mind eating double meal onboard. Plus the luggage allowance is bit not so flexible because they only can confirm u at least 3 days or 4 hours b4 departure only.

Let say they confirm u 4 hours b4, where can we grab until 20kg souvenir? If really grab b4 the upgrade confirm, it would risky too, the airport might charge u more... bit of uncertainty...
Anyway, I bought my flight ticket last year april and decide to upgraded optiontown in May 2011 and flight was end of Jan 2012. Hopefully can grab it! LoLz...

If it's a backpack -possible- I hv seen lotsa ppll bringing backpack inside the plane. per pax, u say only 4kg -no need to check-in-lah bcos if the size doesn't meet the measurement meaning the luggage itself already> 4kg. (Normally)

First Name = Your Given Name
Last Name = Surname (family name)

Sample:
Tan Ah Kow became
Ah Kow, Tan
(First Name), (Last Name)

Ahmad bin Abu
Ahmad - First name
Abu - Last name (father's name/surname)

Use name as in your Mykad..

Like my friend is Jerry Low but in mykad don't have Jerry.

Not from me but from another forum.:
QUOTE
"Tan Ah Kow" confuses westerners immensely. The poor inflexible sods.

If want to avoid them calling you "Ah" or "Kow", then do what the Taiwanese do and put your first/given name as "Ah-Kow". They'll probably pronounce it as "a cow" though

First/Given name is "Ah Kow" not "Kow", and the "Ah" is NOT the middle name - you should not put your name as "Kow A. Tan". We do not generally have middle names unless parents gave an angmoh-style name like "Terence Nigel Tan". Then Nigel is the middle name and can put name as "Terence N. Tan". Alternatively, if you are called "Terence Tan Ah Kow", you may opt to treat "Ah-Kow" as your "middle name" and call yourself "Terence Ah-Kow Tan" or "Terence A. Tan" or "T.A. Tan". Or if your full name is Terence Nigel Tan Ah Kow, then maybe you can call yourself "Terence N.A. Tan" also ba..

And we haven't even got to those Asian names with no family names or surnames, like those with s/o, d/o, bin or bte. Many westerners can't seem to grasp the concept that some other cultures do not use family names or surnames. The poor sods.

Whicheve 1st name or last name you enter also laku wan lah..

My saved name in AA system is Wong (last Name Ah Kow (1st name) for eg. but bcos of confusion, On my waifu & daughter, I used surname as 1st & given name as last..Both way also accepted.

The most impiortant thing is the spelling of the name same as your IC

I have travel to many places and using a few airlines, never have any issue even if I put my first name/last name in wrong field as long as the spelling is right.

I received their call (03-27818181) also. But I have already given them my IC NO and my mailing address. Will they deduct money from my bank? I saw some comment on here (http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/0327818181/3) that his account money has been deducted.

BTW, telemarketer told me is 30days free insurance starting from phone call. 30k if anything happen.

AA and AIA really troublesome. Just try to make more money ...

'Important Announcement: AirAsia X Re-Aligns Network

Dear fans, please be informed that due to soaring taxes and higher jet fuel prices, AirAsia X is re-aligning its network to focus on core markets and will be withdrawing services to India (Mumbai and New Delhi) and Europe (Paris and London) from our Kuala Lumpur hub as follows:

• Mumbai- Four weekly services will be suspended with the last flight on 31 January, 2012
• New Delhi- Daily services will be suspended with the last flight on 22 March, 2012. Flights in March will be reduced to four weekly services.
• London- Six weekly services will be suspended with the last flight on 31 March, 2012
• Paris- Four weekly services will be suspended with the last flight on 30 March, 2012

All Guests who hold bookings after these dates will be offered an alternative travel option at no additional cost to mitigate the inconvenience caused as a result of these route withdrawals. An e-mail stating options that are available will be send, including a full refund, a reroute to another AirAsia X destination (e.g, in Australia and North Asia), or a move to an alternative carrier where available.

AirAsia X will concentrate capacity in our core markets of Australasia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Announcements of our future expansions plans will be made soon.

Many have been able to realize their dream to travel to Europe due to cheap fare from AAX.
Hopefully AAX can give an alternative carrier for all those concerned. A big possibility on MAS.
Could be a blessing in disguise. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have compare between AirAsia Insure Travel Protection and AXA SmartTraveller VIP Plan.

I travel 5 person for 6 - 7 days.
AA: RM21 x 5 = 105
AXA: Family = RM121

AA is cheaper in price but when compare the benefits... AXA is the best. AA only have 6 benefits but AXA have 23.

Hei guys and gals, i notice that AA charge Rm 10 if we go to counter to check in (no charge if using phone or web), but if i am not mistaken there is a standalone device (self check in kiosk) that allowed us to check in by entering the booking number. The question is will they charge us we use those device? thx

Those concerned about AAX canceled route should check this out:http://twitter.com/azranosmanrani.

You may find some answers while waiting for your second email.
Hope it's helpful and takes away some of the stress

Looks like Mumbai and Delhi customers are being contacted first.

According to him those who bought flights to London will have to wait until "February". This is ridiculous.

Now hearing word of Christchurch being next on the chopping block.

Go to http://www.airasia.com/my/en/home.page
Click on Web Check in.
Fill in Departure City and Booking Number.
Then click check in. Continue from there.
Lastly print your boarding pass

You can also do mobile check in.
See their demo.
Get a 2D bar-code and print boarding pass at the kiosk in LCCT

From this, it seems there is a chance for AirAsia X to restart flights to Europe and even starting flights to the US when they get A350, similar to B787.

It's show 60 minutes before departure is the minimum.

Your flight number is start with D7 (Air Asia X)?

Took your advice and call them at their premiumline 600859999. What a fantastics service eventhough tel charges is rm12.40. The CS guy actually ask for my telno and call me back after confirming with his manager to save my phone charges. His call to me was 20 min long (most of the time on hold while he submitted in a report to process for a full refund). Refund will be credited into my credit card account after 30 days.

Be sure to allow plenty of time; don't rush at last minute. Although you can print boarding pass at home, it's not like other countries where you go right to the gate. At entrance to immigration, Air Asia may ask you to go back to a document verification counter (no charge).

D- AAX, AK- Local AA, FD- AA-Thai & QZ-AA-Indon. Soon probably got AAX Japan liao haha

Whatever, All still Air Asia Family. AAX are using bigger planes & expensive food, baggages fee, seats & etc for sure.

Web-check-in-lah. I dunno how to use mobile check-in - never use b4. I normally check-in once they emailed me the reminder.. Easier & chances of sitting tigether higher bcos you check-in much earlier than others. Don't wait till last minute..That time..Husband one end and wife another end.. haha

Early or last min also same. AA will intentionally break your family seating apart even thought the flight is not full. For 3 seats under one booking, AA usually give you 2 seats next to each other but the 3rd seat five or six rows away. you got to pay AA if you want to sit together. I Kena 8 times (going and return) last year for my singapore, bangkok, macau, phnom phen trips. vmad.gif

At 1st I also always kena as what you experienced.. However on my last 2 trips to Beijing & another to Medan, I checked in early. i.e right a week b4 departure. All 3 of us managed to sit together coming bck from Beijing but not going to. Anyway small matter as we managed to switch wth one guy. (Both flights ~ 90% full)

On Medan also, we got 3 seats together on outgoing & back one seperated but easily switched haha.

So I think, it's bcos of early check-in lor..previouly I checked in 1-2 days b4 and all of us or one of us seperated for sure

I thought so too initially, web check in early, chances of getting seats together is higher. But for 2-3 days before departure web check in, I still got my seats separated by AA in which my flight was no even 80% full, If the flight is not full, why on earth AA want to break us apart if not because of seat selection fee ?

i always pack my lunches from airport departure in aa flight so far no issues

anyway most foreigners particularly aussies does it on aax flight unless it's big stinker like whole roast baby pork into flights whre thre is muslims

the reason y is that aa or aax is so strict is coz the halal issue which annoys me anyways but doesn't affect me as i don't purchase low cost substandard cheap cold microvable food from them tongue.gif

Not a good idea to dabao MacD for a long haul flight. How many hours you can keep your MacD ? For the amount u pay for the LCCT MacD, you might as well prebooked AA rm12 nasi biryani, warmly served from microwave oven.

Haha it's like fasting ;-)

I suggest buying the food on the outgoing flight when they charge in RM.
The incoming flight is charged based on the destination so it could be NZD, AUD, GBP, Euro etc. and much more expensive.

Anyone wants to swap HOT seat with me? I booked airasia KL-Sydney for 15-7-2012. I accidentally picked the HOT seat which costs me RM 110. I do not want to have the hot seat. and airasia said this kind of fee is not refundable! I'm a petite person, I do not need extra legroom in hot seat ... hence anyone wants to but the HOT seat? I want to swap.

the about the combine luggage weight of travelling companion , it is limited to same itinerary or same booking number ? Me and my friend will fly to the same place at the same time in same flight , but our booking number is different because we buy at different time individually , to make it simple , same itinerary but different booking number. I wonder if we still can combine weight in this case ?

nope.. only same booking number can.

Can I combine my checked baggage with my travelling companion?
Yes, you can combine the baggage if you are travelling with the same PNR booking number and present yourselves together at the check-in counter.

AAX is arranging alternative flights to those who booked to London/Paris since they're not flying there anymore. The alternative flights carrier is MAS.

For AAX, i can change the pre-booked meal (same value) with no extra charges as long as i have not check-in right? Will they email me a new itinerary?

I have purchased my flight, during payment i opt for CIMB clicks which the website return some strange error and locked out for 5mins. Thus I waited and made the payment later on. The transaction was successful but the airasia website did not acknowledged the payment.

Right now I have obtained my booking number but status : need payment.. I am not sure what to do now.. Already send a E-ticket to raise my concern but it say will take up to 5 days to reply my enquiries...

WTF, RM1.95/ minute but no one pick up..

My girlfriend and I will go Bali this March. We haven't done the web check in. So how should we check our seat location to ensure that we will sit together? Or we need to pick the seat during web check in? But I didn't see an option to pick a seat when I 'mock' web check in(click next without confirm).

This is part of Air Asia's hidden costs. If you don't pay to choose your seats then in my experience Air Asia will randomly seat you everywhere even if the plane is empty.

You have to complete and confirm your web check in before you get to know your allocated seats.

Don't worry about doing a web check in. The earlier the better. Sometimes they let you sit together if you book your ticket in one booking, but this is no guarantee. Many times they sit you far apart from each other and make you pay for the change of seats.

After you web check in, they will give you the allocated seats. If you don't like the seats, you can always pick the seats after they give you the allocated seats and pay for it. I usually only pay for one change of seat to save cost if possible.

Just been to Korea last yr.
Subway very good and easy to understand.

No worry. Staff at the subway more than happy to help.
Most shops at major shopping areas have staff which do speak in Mandarin.
Taxi very expensive and one way to city which took 20 mins drive cost me close to RM200. cry.gif

Can buy the food, luggage, seat later, most important is to get the seat first with correct name. Price will not be cheaper/expensive.
leonghan:
I think after confirm the purchase, then later u cancel some of ur items. That spoilage fee come from the item(s) $$$$ u cancel..

But i did not cancel anythg....

my fares was total RM 2490 + RM 350 (Pick a seat) = RM 2840
i plan to use CC for payment so = RM 2840 + RM 50 (Processing fees) = RM 2890
But my CC not enuf limit so i change it to direct debit which deduct RM 50 processing fees = RM 2840

but after i made payment..i realised my invoice is RM 2490 (tickets) + RM 350 (spoilage) = RM 2840...

Can i claim them about this because they simply cancel my seats without any notice..

Yes for sure u can do this.. From my past experience of 2 last minutes cancellation and kenot redeem back those purchases except airport tax, better just buy the fare & the tax.. bcos if last minute can;t go, you can just forfeit just the fare & fuel surcharge and claim back the airport tax. smile.gif If you add baggages, food, insurance & etc...all burnt mannn

That's is the AA trap to force ppl buying seats, insurance & etc.. If not careful (Which I also kena previously) You are buying nonsense there..Well, unfortunately those fees like picking up seats, baggages, food, insurance CANNOT be claimed back ..meaning all burnt!! You can only claim Airport tax if you did not fly on that date

I think you can't do anything or claim back. The term & condition and fees table already posted in their website.. and change of schedule except adding seats, food, insurance or baggages, they will charge you processing fees..

That's why you need to choose properly b4 commiting. I also learnt my lesson in the past...BTW, I think it is not wise to buy the ridicolous seats..super expensive and you can actually change wth others during the flight. It's all common understanding and there will be few single seat occupants there too and they will willingly change for you esp you offer them your single split window seat haha

few years ago i encountered spoilage fee issue also, i mail and told them it is the system un-friendly-issue and get the $$$ back. I think last time they did not implement the confirm button after you make some changes --> if not mistaken, i also not quite remember already

Seoul.. to see snow..must be ~ Christmas time. If lucky occasionally you also can see snow in erly Dec & Mid Dec..I been there in Mid Dec.. no snow falls in Seoul but scattered snow on the roads and in outskirt of Seoul already snowing but I missed the snowfall..Just experience walking on thin snow in Nami Island & surounding..That's in Mid Dec. However, at that time of Mid Dec, I already experienced one of the coldest days in Dec in Seoul History..Even reported in Seoul news..temp dropped to minus 12C and wth wind, minus 18-19C damn coldddd

To expereince certainty of snow must be after Christmas of even better in Jan & Feb
