Hey guys, wanna know if anyone called saying they are from AIA insurance and are giving me one month free insurance because I'm a frequent/loyal traveller with AA or something. They say they will send the policy to my house and stuff but still got nothing. Wondering if it was a scam cause I did pass my IC number to them. sad.gif

My girlfriend and I will go Bali this March. We haven't done the web check in. So how should we check our seat location to ensure that we will sit together? Or we need to pick the seat during web check in? But I didn't see an option to pick a seat when I 'mock' web check in(click next without confirm).
*
You have to complete and confirm your web check in before you get to know your allocated seats.

Don't worry about doing a web check in. The earlier the better. Sometimes they let you sit together if you book your ticket in one booking, but this is no guarantee. Many times they sit you far apart from each other and make you pay for the change of seats.

After you web check in, they will give you the allocated seats. If you don't like the seats, you can always pick the seats after they give you the allocated seats and pay for it. I usually only pay for one change of seat to save cost if possible.

QUOTE(ycs @ Jun 7 2012, 10:29 PM)
how come if i enter 1 adult =1 price and 3 adults=higher price?
*
Meaning the promo seat left 1 only.
If you enter 2 adults and still promo price, means promo seat left 2 only.

So you can choose to book separately but one (or two) of them will have to pay non-promo price.

initially i think the system work like this way also..then wad if i check got 2 person cheap ticket,i use another comp, both book at the same time how? AA cant juz pop up say sorry,no more promo ticket when i wan make payment?  hmm.gif
more like AA did it on purpose eh..u wan travel in group, pay more.. solo, cheaper.lol
*
Sometimes I guess it works, but I don't know how their system works exactly. laugh.gif
You should know by now how their business make money. They will find all sorts of ways to make you pay more. Lol.

Based on experience, sometimes if book 1 by 1 can still get promo ticket, or like you say, use 2 computer and book at the same time. Used to do that last time. But nowadays when try like that it doesn't work sometimes. You can try and see. I think when confirm everything already, AA will give you 1 or 2 hours to block the booking and confirm your payment, the status will be pending instead of confirm. So I think if you already confirm the booking, then payment that time they won't tell you no promo seat already.

Not all routes don't like you travel in big group la. I've booked before group of 4 and 6 before all on promo tickets. tongue.gif

I have pre-booked 20 kg previously and wanted to add another 10 kg. From the drop down menu, i selected 30kg (add 10 kg) and the listed price is RM30 extra.  At the confirmation and payment page, however, the shown price is RM35! Anyone aware and face this before?
*
QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 8 2012, 05:31 PM)
Was informed through live chat that the drop down menu is not the actual one. the system will re-calculate and present the final amppunt at the confirmation page  doh.gif

And then i found out that the departure time is changed from 10 am to 10.20 am without any notification  blink.gif
*
I've done add in luggage weight many times already but never had this problem before.

I think it's because they are changing their pricing and all that. Recently I've also had some of my upcoming flights (July) postponed and delay about 20 min or so. They did send me SMS and email to me.

QUOTE(VinluV @ Aug 10 2012, 01:40 PM)
ok guys...

here's the story.
last year i booked 2 promo tickets to taiwan for me and my gf.
then she left me and now i'm stuck with 2 tickets for taiwan which happens in september 2012, and she won't come at all, not even as friends...

Is there any way to change her name on the ticket details?
*
If promo ticket then a bit susah to change, like Shazzac said, speak to their customer service and see what are your options. It'll highly depend on how much you paid for your ticket, whether it was promo or normal ticket, check your ticket's T&C if you want to read it.

If I were you, I'd just burn the ticket and go myself. Or get a friend to go with me and buy another ticket. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new ticket then change name, etc.

can only redeem the airport tax. RM95 1 person but airasia charge rm15 1 way service charge to cancel.
So can get rm65 per person... will really rugi alot since ticket is already rm700.
*
Drag a friend along with you if you don't want to go alone. Nothing much can be done edi I guess. RM700 is a lot of money.

If below RM300 I wouldn't mind forfeiting it, but RM700 if no one go with me also I'll go myself.

Hi guys I'm gonna go to Taiwan soon. But this is my first time going oversea.Any tips or advises?Anything I should take note?

Btw,my sis's passport is going to expire in October so is it okay?
*
If you're looking for advise on Taiwan trips then try asking in the Taiwan thread. Other than that, basically don't carry any liquid in your hand carry luggage. Take note of your luggage weight and don't go overweight. Web check in before your trip, print out your boarding pass and itinerary and any other travel documents to bring along with you. Sometimes good to carry photocopy of your passport. Lock your luggages and pack things nicely, pay extra attention to things that can break easily cause your bag won't be handled with care.

Also, to renew passport is better as usually you'll need at least 6 months validity to travel out of the country or you may have trouble with the immigration.

Hi there,

i wanna ask, can i online check in first for my AAX flight then see what seat they assign me 2.

and if i don't like the seat and would like to purchase/choose myself is it still possible? or the system won't allow me to change my seat even if i'm paying for it.
*
Yes, you actually will get to see what seats you are assigned to when you online check in, before you get to change and pay for the seats.

Hi all i want to ask about the weight of the luggage for domestic flight. Is it 1 carry on bag + 1 luggage?
*
Domestic flights same with international flights, just that you can carry liquid in your hand carry when you fly domestic flights.

Hand carry is 7kg, one handcarry and/or handbag/camera bag/laptop bag, as usual. Check in luggage depends on how many kg you bought, if you didn't buy then no check in luggage.

hi guys, i'll be traveling with a companion next week

is it wise to reserve a seat side by side, or just check in early and they'll give 2 seats to you ?

thanks
*
Web check in early and see what seats they give to you. Most of the time if you web check in early (2 weeks ahead) you'll get the seats together, but hard to say also. Sometimes you'll get front/back seats or across the aisle. If you don't like the seat that they assigned to you, you can always purchase the seat when you web check in.

QUOTE(Private.G @ Aug 21 2012, 10:39 PM)
Just wondering does the weight apply to both or individual bag. Can I carry a hand carry plus slingbag instead?
*
Yes you can carry handcarry luggage and sling bag. They'll usually weigh your handcarry luggage only.
Sling bag, back pack, handbag, camera bag, laptop bag, usually they won't bother. Unless they suspect something.

I see. Well I suppose each person is only limited to carry 2 bags then? Could I have carry a slingbag, backpack and a hand carry?

Oh by the way, should I have arrive at the LCCT 3 hours prior to my departure time? Say my flight is 11am and I arrive at the airport at 8am? Or should it been earlier?
*
Yea basically it's limited to one handcarry luggage and one smaller bag which is either a slingbag, backpack or handbag.
You could try to go with a slingbag, backpack and hand carry luggage but there is the risk of them stopping you from doing so. I haven't tried that before but I think it'll be fine. They mostly stop those that have more than one handcarry luggage.

Web check in before you go. Usually just be there 2 hours before your flight and you'll be fine. Also depending on where you will be going. If local destinations usually long queue to drop off your luggage so try to be there earlier. If overseas destination (other than Indonesia cause always long queue also) then 2 hours will be just nice. If it's your first time going to LCCT then no harm going earlier in case you get lost or anything, can be quite confusing when there's so many people everywhere walking up and down. laugh.gif

hi munkeyflo, meaning if for example if i web checkin now, and i see the seats not assigned to me i can purchase and change my seats again ?

and btw.. what's the difference between checking in early (1-2 weeks before) and late ?

thanks
*
Seats will definitely be assigned to you. It's whether you are okay with the assigned seats or not. Say they put you one front one back but you want sit together so you can purchase the seat you want after that.

Some ppl say web check in earlier will get the seats together. But this is not guaranteed as I've experience quite a number of times where my seats were assigned to different rows.

meaning that after i do web check-in, i still able to purchase seat if i & my partner was assigned to different seat?
*
QUOTE(digitalz @ Aug 24 2012, 09:57 AM)
Better buy first just to be safe. Changes after web check-in cannot be changed if I remembered correctly.
*
I remember being able to choose to purchase new seats before completing web check in. The only thing was that if you choose to purchase new seats, you'll have to purchase all new seats. Say you have 3 people in that booking and 2 are seated together while the other one got seated at the back, you have to purchase 3 new seats, cannot just purchase 1 seat even when the seat next to the 2 person is empty.

Basically what I do is that I web check in half way and get to see my seats and choose luggage all that, then I cancel and go out. Go to 'manage my bookings' and buy the seats there.

Maybe they have changed this, I'm not sure. If seating is really important to you, then just buy the seats before web check in.

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Aug 24 2012, 02:35 PM)
eh... can wor. I did that few months back during web check-in. 2 persons with no-seat-booking, give me auto seat (e.g.) 32F and 33A.

I untick 32F only, then tick 33B , it charge for 1 seat only. Pay again using CC.

But ... read this. If I untick both 32F and 33A, then even if I tick back 33A ... and add 33B ... then it charge double the price. What I do is, click go back, and next again to come back to same screen and do as above.

Therefore, from my opinion, the proper way is to untick ONLY the lesser number seat and join it to the others, of course provided still got empty space next to it.
*
I see! Was this during web check in or under manage my bookings?
Cause when I tried last time, they didn't let me untick or tick anything, just gave me empty seats and ask me to choose the seats. I can't choose just one seat, it requires me to choose both seats. So when I choose 2 seats, like you say, it's charge for 2 seats price. rclxub.gif

If I remember correct, is web check-in and immediate print it out. Actually too busy until forgot, that we web check-in, 30 minutes before start goto LCCT  sweat.gif

At that time few months back, web check in with no-seat-booking is auto-allocate seat already, as above, gimme different row. In order to choose seat, have to untick and tick again for the seat you want.

But ... another trick is to know the flight pattern and passenger rate  wink.gif  If you know those flight are empty, no need choose seat. After flight take off, just walk to the back seats and lie down like a Pharaoh  laugh.gif
Meal time, if pre-book, just show boarding pass.

*
Yup yup, do that on most of the not-so-popular flights. tongue.gif
The only seats that we can't sit on are the Hot Seats.

I'll try that on my next Airasia flight in October. My next week flight to Hatyai already web check in and the seats was fine so didn't bother about that. laugh.gif

QUOTE(digitalz @ Aug 24 2012, 03:17 PM)
RM6 for the seats. Haha. I've tested without buying seats and me & my buddy got separated. One in front, one at the back. Lol

That's why now, I'd buy seats just to be safe. (Unless I fly solo which I always do.)
*
Sometimes for short flights, I also don't bother about my seats already. Few times already AA separated me and my bf seats and we just take the risk and hope that it's not a full flight. So far so good. tongue.gif

QUOTE(popcorn513 @ Aug 30 2012, 04:10 PM)
For air asia hand luggage
1) does camera and camera bag not calculated inside 7kg?
2) if I wear a coat, and hand carrier another coat in my hand, both coat also not calculated inside 7kg?

For check in luggage
1) if I bought 30kg, can I check in 32 kg? Or they very strict must 30kg
2) if I want to bring ps3, should I check in or hand carrier it? Scare they throw it and electronic spoil, but ps3 no problem to hand carrier?
*
1. Camera won't be included in the 7kg, camera bag usually not that heavy to make your 7kg overweight. Usually if they see camera bag, they won't even bother to weight it.
2. I've no idea about this, but my guess is no, unless you wear two coats at the same time. If you put it in your luggage, means its included in the bag edi. Doesn't make sense for 2 coats to be excluded from the 7kg. It's like if I carry shirts in my handcarry and I'm wearing a shirt as well, the shirts in my handcarry will obviously be included in the 7kg. Unless there's an exemption for coats? I'm not sure, as far as I know, only laptop and camera and a "reasonable amount of reading material" will not be included in the 7kg.

1. Depending on counter girl/guy. To be safe, follow strictly the weight you bought. Paying for excess baggage is never worth it. Just a few kgs can cost you few hundreds.
2. Two ways to go about this, pack your ps3 very carefully with lots of protection surrounding it. Or you can always hand carry it, don't see a problem with it, it's not sharp and there's no liquid in it. Just that you may need to sacrifice other things to make way for your ps3 so that you will be within the 7kg limit.

2) thanks, seems like I can bring in a heavy book and get it exempt then

1) thanks, will follow rule. Actually how you guy do proper weight check?
I just use my house body checking machine
2) Someone explain that ps3 might be consider electronic bomb detonator, lol I think better check in then
*
Yup, heavy books will get exempted. They usually say reasonable amount of reading materials means taking into consideration the length of your flight also, it's you're gonna bring 20 thick books on a 2 hours flight then they'll not exempt all of your books.

You can use your house body weighing machine to check, but it may be a bit hard cause hard to see the weight. There are luggage weighing machines which are portable and easy to use. Airasia sells them and many luggage shop will sell it too, you can find it in some credit card and bonuslink rewards catalog as well. Can cost from RM50-RM100+. Try not to go over the maximum weight bought, if you bought 30kg, then stop putting things in when your luggage is around 28.5-29kg, give some allowance.

Can be, so yea, better check with Airasia directly, send them an email or something. It's best if you can just check your ps3 into your check in luggage.
