SPAM - SCAM Calls & Messages Awareness Guideliness

user posted image

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has proposed several measures to clamp down on spam. MCMC issued a discussion papers in which it listed out several proposals to combat the incidence of unsolicitied e-mail and SMS (short message service).

The proposals include formulating a definition of spam for regulatory purposes, imposing mandatory measures on service providers, and a multi-tier plan to resolve spam-related complaints and disputes. If the problem recurs or becomes excessive, MCMC suggested that users lodge complaints with service providers, failing which a complaint could be lodged with the Consumer Forum, or with the Content Forum for issues related to the content of the unsolicited messages. As a final recourse, users could complain to MCMC. To combat spam originating from overseas, MCMC proposed efforts to initiate the setting up of regional and “possibly” global collaborative alliances with foreign regulators, service providers, non-government organisations, and related projects and initiatives in other parts of the world.

Promoting services via SMS is gaining popularity because of the mobile penetration rate in Malaysia has surpassed 100%. However because of the non-existence of the specific guideline regarding the SMS promotions, the SMS for advertising has become free for all industry. As an association we would like to develop and nurture this new advertising channel so it would not be misused and cast a negative impression from the public. Enclosed is a proposed guideline on the SMS Promotion that should be adhered to by all the CPs.

The common and standardised guidelines between TELCO and MCMC to the consumers are:

English Version
1. Reply STOP and send to (Received Gateway) eg. STOP send to 32777
2. Reply STOP ALL and send to (Received Gateway) eg. STOP ALL send to 32777

Bahasa Melayu Version
1. Reply BATAL and send to (Received Gateway) eg. BATAL send to 32777
2. Reply BATAL SEMUA and send to (Received Gateway) eg. BATAL SEMUA send to 32777

Additional Information
Telco should activate a catch-all SMS that being sent to 6 series. If a recipient reply to the 6 series broadcast, with the word STOP, then all the future SMS promo for all the broadcast should be stopped.

ON PROMO - Activate all promotions (chargeable)
OFF PROMO - Stop all promotions (non-chargeable)

Above commands are also applicable for promotion types of SMS messages.

With this method, only one database should be maintained for each telco. All the SMS promo via 6 series will consult this database first before broadcast. Enabling reply to 6 series will make it easier for the recipient to Opt-Out without the need to send to a 3 series shortcode.

Note: Above commands are agreed by the commision as FREE OF CHARGE and telecommuncations operator has no authority to charge the consumer for above listed commands.

Number of the sender is composed of 6xxxx 3xxxx or in some cases. To your knowledge, 3xxxx numbers have been designated as an SMS access number for the content of third parties and not directly from the network operator. Number 6xxxx I'm not sure, but almost all the SMS received from 6xxxx are promoting or advertising from third parties. So, if you received an SMS from 6xxxx or 3xxxx number, please be careful and read it carefully.

Style and sentence structure used is messy and sometimes 'fragmented'. There is a mixture of Malay and English. Normally the words most often used by service providers is as 'Register free', 'Without the charge list', 'free SMS mobile content', and others. Look, they emphasize the word 'free' or 'bonus' in the SMS as a bait to attract the attention of readers and junior free registration. You have a feeling something is wrong?

Remember, in most cases, yes, registration is free and no one would ever be charged! You will be charged as agreed and accepted the specified service. Thus, sentences free registration is merely bait and if you sign up, you AGREE considers them subscribe to them and will be charged a premium for the service itself is not sure! See their tactics?

There are also some more despicable, 'disguised' as a network operator!

See below screenshot:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

If You Have Accidentally Subscribed !

Maybe then you are not sure or no knowledge to distinguish between genuine and fake SMS, and you have to register / subscribe. Serves this fool and take credit / phone bill. How to get out of this crisis? Follow the steps below,

FIRST: Send command to cancel service the same number you used to register. For example, if you send 'ON section' to the number 30000, and to cancel service, send 'OFF section' or 'STOP section' to the same number (30 000). Your subscription will be canceled upon receipt of the SMS confirmation from the relevant authorities.

Conversely, if the command 'OFF' or 'STOP' will not cause any effect (no response) or you forget the name of the service you subscribe to, try to 'STOP ALL' and wait for a response from the parties concerned. In most cases, the command 'STOP ALL' this is effective. If this also does not have any effect, then the next step is necessary.

SECOND: Make a call to your network and tell them the problems you face. Your network can help identify to services you subscribe to accidental and provides guidance on how to cancel it. Calls must be made to the Customer Service operator, respectively.

Conclusion

Many think that network operators have the ability to prevent (block) numbers of external service providers. Ability to block is there, but the operator does not have the power to prevent a number unless directed in writing or direct instructions from the authorities (police, government and others). In addition, there are other users who may use the service and prevent the action would cause the number of users can not use the service.

In conclusion, consumers should investigate and carefully read any SMS received from a third party. If you are unsure of the contents of the SMS or its contents very suspicious, ignore, and if able to save SMS as evidence if there is any problem in the future.

I was thinking of by shortcode order... so when we have some new SMS, we can scan the numbers to see if it's already listed.

I try to STOP ALL but a message returning back saying that i did not subscribe to the service or some sort of subscription. The thread did not mention anything about subscription.

1. Reply STOP and send to (Received Gateway) eg. STOP send to 32777
2. Reply STOP ALL and send to (Received Gateway) eg. STOP ALL send to 32777

Same thing just happened to my wife. She is using a Digi Prepaid & lately we noticed that the credit is running out even when we don't use the phone. Upon checking with Digi, they informed us that we subscribed for a service since 30th of July from a company called Union Vector Alliance Sdn. Bhd. which is a shell company that seems to specialize is scamming. This is the link to a description of that company.

http://www.tradeboss.com/default.cgi/actio...mpanyid/770166/

This is the type of message that I regularly receive from them via Digi

"60142606757
06-Nov-2011 19.26

(016-my number) FREE DOWNLOAD...unlimited terpanas video clips yg siok. CEPAT!!! Taip on YIRA htr ke 37673

"

I've already called DIGI & they told me that they can't do anything about this & asked me to call the scammer at the company's call center. (ya rite, give the scammer confirmation that my phone number is active so they can send me more scam sms).

Is there anyone here who knows the people at DIGI who can actually do something about this on their customer's behalf instead of asking the customer to complaint to MCMC instead?
Apart from complaining to MCMC, is there any other body that we can complain to?
From my viewpoint, DIGI doesn't seem to be interested in stopping this type of scams on their customer as they get to earn money. & from the scammer, as long as the customer is not aware of the charge, they get free RM2~3 a day per customer for doing nothing. The only one who loses is the customer.

Regards,
Dbassnut

Just noticed my credit runs out fast. Upon checking with Digi, i noticed rm5 charges every day from this number 39636.
I never subscribe anything before. Called digi, asked me to send STOP ALL to 39636.
As for the numerous Rm80 charges( about 16 times they charges me vmad.gif ) , digi can't do anything but ask me to call the company for refund at 03-56118552 VMAX POINT MALAYSIA SND BHD
Upon further checking, the phone number is a SCAM number used on multiple companies such as 3B VIsion International Sdn Bhd (32211), DAN-ONE (36002), and many more since year 2005. shocking.gif
Wow, i wonder how much have these companies scammed(telco charges us and pay to them? shakehead.gif ) and what the telcos/govt do to prevent such scammers. Gosh, it's not new news. doh.gif

Just noticed i'm being charged rm25 for serviced that i didn't subscribed. Called digi sc and the 1st staff who answered asked me to called the company myself and ask for refund. I insist that it must be digi who settled all this since it is not my fault. After several 'hot' arguing, she connect me to a technical dept. Surprisingly this tech staff straightaway said i didn't subscribe and will stop all service from that company. She even will inform the cimoany to do refund on my behalf. I'll give them a few days before complaint again.

Added on May 12, 2012, 1:44 pmI also asked the tech staff, how this company got my number. She said it just a random active number list they received from the company. Imo, its a case of i help, you help me, since digi didn't bother to check the validity of the 'subscription'.

Added on May 15, 2012, 10:43 amThe company representative contacted me last yesterday (speaking malay indon) and asked how much they have been charging me because they want to refund the amount. I said RM20 and last night, it was reloaded into my account. Then I've been thinking that this is more of a shady business that they themselves don't actually have/keep the record (since they have to ask me). Should have answered RM100 when they asked me...

Added on May 15, 2012, 10:48 amThe number is 36022

I've been getting spam mms for this gateway 22090. They are just horrible. Even after sending STOP ALL to them they would still keep spamming them. I even tried their the gateways stop method which was STOP AUTO but they would still spam me.

I just called my telco provider and they said that there was nothing they could do but bring my case to the authorities. they also said that it would not be a guarentee. Is there anything else that i can do to stop these people?

Not sure if this is the company but a quick google search gives me This

it's not 100% celcom fault because these bad guys are misusing the legitimate business method. Please complain to Celcom and MCMC so that they can take action. I have made a complain to Celcom at GetSatisfaction Celcom and they are really responsive!. I also filed a complain at MCMC website.

I read online that sometimes there are Apps that steal users money by sending Premium SMS without us knowing it. Especially if you are using pirated apps. It would be great if we can spot the Apps and report to AppStore / Google Play Store.

Yes, these are not from Telco such as Maxis, DiGi and Celcom, these are from 3rd party providers whom use the primary telco facility.

All this are clearly scam and fraud cases and yet the Telco's are pushing the responsibility away. The number they give is not helping at all. If 1 victim got scam for an average RM30, what is the profit they can make if there are more 5 than milion active users out there?

Tips - Identifying ORIGINAL & FAKE (3rd party SMS's)

ORIGINAL - Celcom
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

ORIGINAL - Maxis
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Screenshots above are examples of the original SMS sent by Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) to its customers. The following are examples of original SMS sent by Maxis Communications Berhad (Maxis) to its customers

FAKE - Maxis
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

If you are unsure of the contents of the SMS or its contents very suspicious, ignore, and if able to save SMS as evidence if there is any problem in the future.

and the uninvited sms cost rm3 then rm5!

notice also the frequency of the sms (every 2-3 days), draining rm5 just like that

I have been facing the same problem from the M-Mode (33311).

Without noticed that I got charged by this 33311 since last year, every month at least 3 messages until one day I found out that my account balance always insufficient balance. This was very surprising me, almost RM100+ got deducted.

I am in overseas, I topped up my mobile for keeping my number. However, I don't have any balance left in my account since last year. This is very terrible!!

I tried sending an email to this M-Mode company on 08/11/2012, but no feedback from the company. After That on 23/12/ 2012 I received a reminder message "RM0.00. Subscription Reminder. No Subscription fee. Price: RM3.50/SMS. 15SMS/Month. Auto Renewal on 24/01/2013 unless cancelled. To cancel, send STOP HANTU to 33311." So I cancelled it by sending text STOP HANTU to 33311, but STOP HANTU didn't applied to the center so I sent STOP ALL. Meanwhile, I sent an email again to the M-Mode and vent out my anger in email.

On 26/12/2012, I've received an email from the company informed me that they have stopped the service since 08/11/ 2012 and blocked my number from the receiving further broadcast message. However, I couldn't understand why I received the above reminder message (23/12/2012) since have stopped and block every single message.

Now 22/01/2013, I received the above reminder message again. Nevertheless, I don't cancel it by sending text, I sent an email to the company again and still waiting for their reply.

I'm really fed up and bother me with those SMS, please give me some advice. Should I report this to the MCMC?

Hi, I called Celcom regarding a spam MMS that I received and they say I will be charged RM0.15 when sending "STOP ALL". They say it's a flat rate charge for anything sent to those 5-digit numbers.

So it's not free eh? Or is it only not free with Celcom?

Just received this SMS from DIGI today:

Sender: DigiRewards

"Cash Back Promo! Enjoy RM7.50 talktime in July when you pay RM5 in June (auto deduct). To decline this offer, sms NOCASHBACK to 2000 by 25/6. (17869)"

Message Centre:
0162999921

I'm pretty sure telcos aren't allowed to auto deduct talktime credit by default.
Does sending an SMS to 2000 incur charges? Or is this just a scam from a sender pretending to be Digi?

by looking at this diagram, we first should report to telco > if not satisfied/resolved complain to Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) > if not satisfied/resolved complain to Communications and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM) > if not satisfied/resolved complain to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM).

from my experience with telco (credit deduction), sometime call cs or complain to their online support forum, fb, twitter etc wont do any good. they will just bounce u from one cs to another.

one time i lodge report directly to skmm after complaining to telco online cs doesn't do any good. got call the next day from their cs, apologizing and agreeing to compensate my credit loss within 24hours whereas when i first report to them before bringing it upfront to skmm, basically what they said to me is it "we cant do anything about it, its in our t&c, so screw u". made a report to skmm and the next thing i know they call me and apologizing like theres no tomorrow. probably skmm contacted them and scared the shit out of 'em whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

anyway,
1- Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) online complain form
2- Communications and Multimedia Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM) online complain form
3- Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) online complain form

my 4 prepaid celcom lines have also been spammed and we lost money to these scammers. 33133, 37773, 22022...how come they are allowed to cheat our money without us even realising them unless we really go check our balance and how much we use telco everyday. This is too much, the authority must really do something to stop them. I complained everywhere already, to the scammer, celcom, in their FB, to MCMC , feedback forms but looks like no effect.

Someone please help stop them!!

I am the latest victim from unsolicited SMS from 39599. The third party provider who used the number is SHRAD Computing Sdn Bhd. As all my phone bills are within the monthly fixed charges I do not subscribe to itemized billing in order to save RM5.

However, recently I moved to online billing and download my bills to check on my children's phone habit and discovered my son has been billed an average of RM3 monthly for unsolicited SMS. On further checking, I have also been charged a similar amount.

I called up my service provider Celcom and was told that they cannot do anything because this is from third party. So I said can I refuse to pay the SMS to which they said then my bill line would be barred as they are only the collecting agent and suggested to send STOP ALL SMS for which I have to pay an additional of RM0.15. The reply I received after sending the SMS was " I have no subscription to be stopped'!!!.

So,

1) Celcom with 13 million subscriber do not care if someone scams our money without our knowledge.

2) Even if they scam only 1% of Celcom subscriber they (SHRAD) earn about RM400000 for doing nothing other than sending SMS.

3) Celcom make money either way as those SMS contain MMS message via data usage.

4) Even you complain to SHRAD, Celcom still make money by way of call charges.

5) To stop service which you never subscribed in the first place also earn Celcom free RM0.15 for those SMS.

6) Celcom being like the collecting agent. Like debt collectorlah surely get commission.

It looks like very lucrative business and I am only talking about RM3 for 1% customers. Imagine the total money this people collect montly.

What type complaint you made? It is funny that I received this message below. They think I am a cowherd who doesnt know what is MMS or third party content. I asked how could the charges incur in the first place when I did not subscribe to them. No answers.

The Executive Office of the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) hereby refers to your email dated xxxx with regard to the SMS spams which you have received.

For your kind information, the CMCF is an independent self-regulatory body set up via the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA’98) and operates under the auspices of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) to monitor and promote industry self-regulation of content over the electronic networked medium. The CMCF governs content by self-regulation in line with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code (Content Code) which is a set of industry guidelines on the usage and/or dissemination of content for public consumption.

SPAM is the common term for electronic ‘junk mail’ – messages sent to a person’s mobile phone that they have not consented to receive; in order to advertise a business or service, or invite you to sign up a subscription-based service. The content of spam messages varies. Some messages promote products or services, while others attempt to trick users into providing bank account or credit card details. Many spam messages contain offensive or fraudulent material.

If you have received any spam messages on your mobile through any short codes, below are the attempts that you may take in order to stop it.

Unsubscribed Text Messages

Reply to the text message by typing STOP, OUT, END, QUIT or CANCEL to the sender.

Subscribed Text Messages

If you wish to unsubscribe to a text messaging service which you have subscribed to before, you may reply to the message by typing UNSUBSCRIBE

Additional to that, we would like to suggest for you to contact your mobile service provider to seek for their assistance on blocking the sender from being able to send you any SMS in the future.

my dad got same sms spam from these scum.
each sms cost him rm4. last month bill showed the sms came every two days. total cost rm149, from "mmobile". not sure if it just showed in bill or did he really got the sms in his phone. when i ask whether this is his first time got such thing in his bill, he said its from long ago, usually its just rm30-40 per month.

sigh, my dad with typical malaysian "tak apa" attitude. when they charge him rm30-40 per month he just paid, no question asked. he just made a big fuss about it when it reaches rm149 on last month bill doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

This is indeed a very good post!! Thumbs up!!

I've just recovered from what they had illegally charged me, if anyone of you still unable to be compensate or problem still being unsolved, feel free to pm me.

One thing to note is: people will only discover this when they were charged by telco, in short, after kena then only know what is happening, this is very innocent & unfair! All these 3rd party company earning money via this route is no difference compare with fraud/cheat/bully just because they enjoy the "automatically credit charged" from us.

When I came to think of all these, honestly, I am very pissed! This is like, today 1 person come and make complaints for RM500, ok, fine, never mind, we refund him/her, do you know why? this is because they (the 3rd party company) know that they still can simply charged the other ppl for RM5 per SMS, so what if they refunded you just a RM500?

Anyway, the above is just for sharing personal thoughts purpose. IF anyone of you still struggling as to how to solve this matter, please feel free to pm me.

Thanks for this post, good one! My father in law just kena. But it is 2nd time. Few years ago kena once, already sent STOP ALL to stop it. Now few years later, kena again.

i googled thoroughly searching for answer. Yes, i know i can use the STOP ALL command, to prevent and ask for refund. That's all, PREVENT & ASK FOR REFUND. It is kind of passive way to deal with this problem.

Did our Government or Law Enforcement take serious action to arrest these scam sms company? Is government one eye open one eye closed and letting this company still survive? Or law loophole?

It remind me of scratch & win lottery and Ah Long business in Malaysia.

Celcom actually got a problem as they haven't even report back about another complaint I made about the MMS. Unfortunately, our judiciary is not pro consumer and I doubt if money spent on legal fees will cover via damages. MCMC als useless because they dont investigate. They do tukang office boy job. Forward my complain to Celcom and forward their response to me and close case.

Meanwhile, what you can do is to disable the MMS setting. By doing this all MMS will remain in the senders outbox. Anyway, we dont use MMS anymore in the world of Whatsapp, iMessage or BBM.

Regarding porting of the line to other carrier, unless you are willing to go the extra mile then nothing much will come out of it.

Received an email from MCMC, informing some alleged resolution of a complaint I made. I dont even remember what the complaint about which I send few months ago on MMS fraud and another one on totally unrealiable 3G/4G in golden triangle area and I dont give two hoots anymore. How can Celcom be allowed to deduct for a service that I never subscribed from a third party and never downloaded their unsolicited sontent. Is it so difficult for MCMC to investigate?

Got potential to become yakuza.... MCMC Najib also powerless against them.

U charge for billing but never sent a single bill.
I launch query, they blame in POS Malaysia.
But all my other bills from ex-DiGi, credit card, lottery win, promotion letter all arrive no problem.
Bluff also don't know how.... really U mobile = sUx

(Charge up to 9 for billing some more. Eat money until like this... legacy of Berjaya Group)

But Celcom took it too new low.

We must know how to differenciate false or true services. Receiving some of the SMS sales is actually quite good. It brings benefit like discounts and getting the best deal when purchase.

rm3/sms, 5/sms per day... Meaning that it's gonna eat my credit rm15 daily. Fark them. Celcom.

after two day, 2nd sms charged RM1.50 again, filed a report to celcom again, this time asked me to send "stop mms", but i decided to call the company 03-77272452 to scold them

at last, the girl request for my celcom account no. and said will help me cancel the service and refund RM3.00, never receive any sms from 36558 after this

Guys, I also received SMS from 36588 on 17/06/15 then I reply STOP ALL but today received SMS from them again on 10/08/15. Why already stop all and they still can send to me.

But on 07/07/15 I received SMS from 33000 that charge me RM1 and I only notice when I check my bill almost end of July then went to Celcom counter and d staff help me to off the "Enable WAP PUSH" on my Lenovo S930 and he said settle.

BTW the 2nd SMS from 36588 is sent to my Mi4i after I change my phone but I already off my mi4i " Allow WAP PUSH". And now I just block this number and add to my phone block list. Don't know can block or not since sent STOP ALL also can't block.

Has been using DiGi about 10years and Umobile few month but never happen this thing b4. Just pakai Celcom end of May 2015 already received 3 scam SMS. This kind of company really make a lot of money if they just send 1sms to each Celcom customer every month. 😤

I have the same problem after converting from Celcom prepaid to postpaid, First Basic 38 plan. STOP and STOP ALL not working. Celcom OCS chat person also can't help/do anything. Last resort, I complained to SKMM and CFM, it works. No more extra payment on my 3rd bill. No rebate yet. Thanks for the tip guys!

If the SMS charged you, you should start complaining. If not charged, block the number will do just fine.

This is MMS, not SMS, hence the STOP/OFF/OUT/whatever wont work.

Try 'STOPMMS' (without the space) if 'STOP MMS' doesnt work. Used to work for a gateway company but left 5 years back, so don't really remember the exact command.

Got at least 4 of this message from 33282 few weeks ago:

"<Subject: I-GoCLIP> - RM1.00: Click to download clip at http://tinyurl.com/notu3xy"

Already sent PROMO OFF, STOP, STOP ALL, QUIT, OUT, EXIT, etc word commands I can think of and got:

"RM0.00: You are not subscribe to our service. For information, call us at: 0378063550 fr 9am to 6pm"

" RM0.00: Your request has been processed. You will not receive future promotional messages from 33282. Thank you."

Problem is, I still got the message today. And I redo everything again.

And yes, I'm a Celcom user. *sigh*

Just go to the sites,

http://www.complaint.cfm.org.my/

http://aduan.skmm.gov.my/

Make a nice, easy to read, straight forward report. Just include name - ic no - phone number - bill no and date - what number that charging ridiculous price on your complain. I don't put any RM, total RM or want a refund on my report. Let them do the rest.

If celcom ppl ask you to contact the company itself, don't waste your time and more credit. Just file a complaint to celcom via email or live chat. I got refunded that way but I still received the MMS. vmad.gif Had filed a formal report to CFM. Will see how it goes.

The worst thing is, even if you disable MMS messaging on your phone, your credit will still get deducted. I've been having this problem throughout November. Happens at least once a week - some E-book sajarah nonsense - each time dedcuting $1.50. Call Celcom and speak to operator need to deduct more money, and then to STOP the MMS again must spend more money, so you're spending around $2 each time, and the worst thing is the problem never goes away because they use a different number for the next message, so it's no use even if you block the number in your phone's settings. It happens every Saturday for me, so yesterday I tried to disable MMS messaging. Today, I didn't receive the SPAM MMS, but when I check the remaining credit I realized the $1.50 was still deducted again. WTF?!

Made a complaint to SKMM. Told them to fine Celcom and file criminal charges, because this is considered stealing. Of course, I know nothing will be resolved, since this is a country where a politician can steal 2.6 billion and still keep his job, so I plan to switch to another telco next month if the problem doesn't stop. Thankfully it's not my main work number.

Anyone's solution was successful in stopping the charges? I have filed complaint with SKMM, CFM, Celcom but still being charged daily... STOP ALL, STOPMMS, OUT doesn't work... Same number sends new message again the next day...

There are four settings including 3G MMS and MMS settings. So you deleted both of them? No errors afterwards?

I am going to RAISE HELL NOW!!!!

total of RM123.15 from June until now. I cannot see the bill prior to June, probably still got some more!

The scam is getting vicious. Monday to Friday - one SMS each day.

I called Digi. and got the terminate service SMS within 10mins.

They are working on waiver for Sept - Oct. I did not inform them because I was not aware at the time of call.

Digi said the SMS service came from a company by the name of M Edge Hotel.

I am writing to aduan@cfm.org.my and aduanskmm@cmc.gov.my and will look at the possibility of lodging a police report.

I just subscribe to digi rm38 internet plan. They seem like to decrease my 1am-7am unlimited data without my knowledge. I not yet use my non peak data but they already decrease it to 5G. This is not the first time. Really angry about their dishonest tactic!! Anyone encounter same problem as me?

Many other users also kena tipu like this. Also, this is Digi, not Celcom. Reducing quota for existing users is unethical.

OMG same with me. But different number. Mine stated here from 36686 (MNC Sdn Bhd). Pfttt...crazy less than a month incurred RM88 just for that. I swear it in the hereafter for the lost if I need to pay it. But so far I still ignored the charges and called DIGI for support. They already clarified to me that they will refund or adjust or stop the charges again.

Just received this SMS on my Hotlink number.

"RM0.00. Successful registration. No subscription fee. Price: RM3.00/SMS (Excl. GST). 3SMS/Week. Renewal on 26/01/17. To cancel, send STOP DT to 33300"

Called Hotlink (123) and the rep claimed she could not (or would not?) identify the advertiser or what service I may have 'accidentally' signed up for. She just asked if I'd like to cancel the subscription, and I said yes.

Hate this shit.

Bloody hell. Just noticed that every time the stupid sms above is received, 94 sen is deducted from my credit balance. Received the same SMS today plus another SMS that deducted RM3. I called CS again to have this shit canceled.

Almost RM5 gone in 2 days, should I submit a complaint to MCMC?

using Digi:-
last week, i received 1st sms from number 20000. saying "thank you for subscribing bla bla bla, to cancel pls go to bla bla bla '". i follow the link and unsubscribe done, received sms again for termination. been charged for Rm4.98. i was like wtf? since when i have subscribe? nvm, xmas eve soon, cool down.

today received again sms from the same number 20000. say service will renew on 29/12/16. damn, this shxx again? call digi, waited for 15 min and manage to spoke to Digi CS. been told been charge 3 times total RM14.96 . I told the CS i have never subscribe to any of these services. CS told me is 3rd party and ask me to call them to liaise. I ask her why Digi allow 3rd party to charge thru customer bill without my acknowledgement? she said she cant do any thing and ask me to call the so call 3rd party company - mobipay. Fine, this is how Digi treat the customer ( with Digi more than 10 years ). Called to Mobipay and spoken with CS - Ms AM, apparently is foreigner, suspected Filipino. I asked her to explain how do I actually subscribe to ur services, She giv me specific date and time, clicked mobipay banner. I told her that i may accidentally clicked banner but this doesnt mean I authorise u to charge to my mobile acc. she reply once u click on the banner it means subscribe, i was like wtf man, this is con lo. she ask me to contact Digi as this charges will bill to me and no waiver. i ask her to immediate terminate all service for my mobile number.

call Digi again, already so damn frustrating. waited again 15 min. Spoken to different CS, this Digi CS very helpful, thumps up. say will liaise with mobipay and seek for waiver. i say ok , at least ur side help to liaise, if end up stil charge, i wont be so frustrating cos at least u guys help. this is the first time i been charge for this 3rd party charges in my whole life.

In total I have lost rm15 of my credit within 2 days.

Calls to CS only result in them promising to turn my 'subscription' off. No success.

Finally posted a complaint on Ask Hotlink (FB) last nite and it looks like the junk sms and credit deductions have stopped for now.

I plan to contact MCMC and ask if there is a way to recover the money that's been stolen from me.

Umobile Power Prepaid

Received SMS from 37886.

3/3 received:
"RM0: Subscription Reminder.No subscription fee.Price:RM3.00/SMS(Excl. GST).4 SMS/Week.Autorenewal 04/03/2017 unless canncelled.To calcel,send STOP QS to 37886"

4/3 received:
"RM0: Subscription renewed. Nosubscription fee. Price:Rm3.00/SMS. 4 SMS/Week. Next renewal 03/04/2017. TO cancel, send STOP QS to 37886"

SMS received stated no subscription fees , i just ignore it.

5/3
Received pop up mentioning my credit less than RM2.

So called umobile operator, understand that third party has charged RM3 twice respectively on 3/3 and 5/3, total to RM6, (I have few more sim encountered same issue!)

Given understanding the 37886 charges was by Everworks Solutions Sdn Bhd, 0388009999, www.everworks.net. (Tomorrow will call for refund as today Sunday)

Then found this post and send command SMS STOP ALL to 37886, charged RM0.15 for this SMS not FOC. Received response SMS :"...Subscription to 37886 has been terminated..."

To reconfirm by sending another command STOP QS as in the 4/3 SMS, charged another RM0.15 for this command SMS. Received response SMS :"You have not subscribed to the service. To subscribe to service send ON <keyword> to 37886"

Umobile SC mentioned to call them for refund and details, if no refund to avail, provide Umbile the details of tele-covnersation for umobile to lodge my complaint to MCMC.

- To update after call the Everworks on refund -

Guys,

Reply OUT to the number if its for unwanted promos etc

Not STOP, STOP ALL, or OFF

QUOTE
If you receive unwanted messages from unknown numbers that advertise a business or service, or invite you to sign up a subscription-based service, it is likely that you could be getting ‘spammed’. SPAM is the common term for electronic ‘junk mail’ – messages sent to a person’s mobile phone that they have not consented to receive. The content of spam messages varies. Some messages promote products or services, while others attempt to trick users into providing bank account or credit card details. Many spam messages contain offensive or fraudulent material. If you think you have received spam on your mobile through any short codes, what you can do is type ‘OUT’ and send it to the same short code number. Make sure you keep the message and make a complaint to Consumer Forum of Malaysia. You may also visit their website http://www.complaint.cfm.org.my/ for further details including other consumer information.

The best advise to protect your data from scammer.

Don't sign any agreement saying xxx telco/company can used any information provided for third party marketing..

Cross your ic if need copy.

Ask back any provider/company if they would used your data from anything..

Don't ever put your phone number in web service you don't trust.. E.g Facebook no..

If we assume cannot rely on our PDPA department, we need to rely to our self.

Warning

Telco cannot ban some number XXX,XX.
I just found some using the same service number.. I have been complaining if not mistaken Public Bank using the same SMS number i was testing before.. Why does public bank using the same sms number?

Latest 3rd party service .

Not sure , how this third party manage to make my phone auto subscribe .

After talking to maxis personnel , the normal advice was received. Please monitor your own bills closely .....

I managed to get Maxis personnel to unsubscribe me from this service ......
At first, I thought this is just a scam SMS to get people to enter the link...
Luckily , I talk to Maxis personnel to avoid getting into dispute on the bills later.

As what i know, actually you can send a SMS "STOP ALL" to this code ---->>> 11911

And you won't be able to receive any junk SMS from those 32XXX/62XXX & whatsoever. HOWEVER, there's a risk that you can't receive any verification code from BANKING for any transaction purpose. LOL

Anyone made report to MCMC before? Want to know how they will handle the case once we made a report. My credit being deducted by third party company. Again! Telco is celcom. This time it's weird cause I never received any sms/mms content from them but they silently deducted my credit for 3 times now.

This year Jan - Mac , I estimate lost about RM30 prepaid credit due to "service charges" by Celcom

They were all taken 'silently".

In fact you wouldn't even know until you check your transaction records online.

I Complain to them, they say they will refund RM3 and make sure this will not happen again.

Between end of Mac to now, I lost another RM8, this time to mygamescape.

Upon checking, mygamescape is "exclusive for Celcom users only".

Filed another complain and see what happen.

Celcom user. Lost RM3 this week to something called MYGSCAPE and MOBDOBAC.

Called Celcom helpline - they said I have to call the company behind MYGSCAPE and settle with them. They don't know what MOBDOBAC is and "have to investigate".

It doesn't matter to them that I never subscribed or agreed to any of these charges. Made a report to MCMC but not putting my hopes up. Don't really know what to do other than to just let this number die (it's a prepaid) and go thru the hassle of getting another number.

I filed a complaint to MCMC on the same scam you are all facing. Almost 20 bucks was taken from my credit. 20 here, 30 there from so many people. How much money is actually stolen from users in a month I wonder. The solution is not to just report to MCMC. Malaysians need to write to the new minister of the new government to stop this nonsense once and for all. I will do that and if many people start to highlight this to the minister via social media as well, the government might feel compelled to take EFFECTIVE measures to curb the scams.

in my case the CS person dont even know where MYGSCAPE come from! they just see 33611 charged my credit and he block it, so i assume it is from that number

most of us have been with the number for so long, changing new number may not the long term solution

for me, the consumer must complaint and report, and make it viral, now viral is power smile.gif

Made a complain to Celcom and they said to contact another number. Contacted this number 03-58910995 Elite Entertainment Sdn Bhd this afternoon regarding my Celcom Xpax line which was charged for MYGSCAPE. The lady said she will stop the service today.

When request for refund she said no because I click on the content. When asked what content or item clicked she cannot give explanation just said is all over the place. Later said is this a scam she immediately put down the phone. Made a complaint to SKMM.

How can they charge something without giving details of what they charge. There was no SMS or any email saying that agreed to sign up for their services.

Adding my own experience with sms scam, it's unique because I suspect that I automatically got subscribed to the scam by registering my phone number with "Carousell". You have to register a phone number to verify your account just like registering a new email.

The fraudulent sms came within seconds of clicking the confirm/affirmation button, it came even before the sms with pin used to verify my account arrived.

The fraudulent sms I got first was:
QUOTE
RM0 TQ for subscribing to History from Belive. Sub at RM4.00/week for 3 sms/week is successful. Sub renewal: 14/08/18. To cancel, dial *365*612#. Info: 03-77859488

I ignored it as I did most weird junk messages. I didn't suspect anything was wrong until I got another sms the next day.
QUOTE
Received on 8 Aug 10:21
RM0Photographer Iain Macmillan Takes an Iconic Photograph of the Beatle, made it one of the most recognizable images of 20th century..

RM4 credit was deducted for a lame sms with random statement that I didn't subscribed to in the first place ranting.gif

Apparently my silence was deemed to be acceptance, this is of course isn't right or legal in general.

Took some time and found the "proper" way to handle this matter.

According to MCMC I should follow the "Complaint Circle".

https://www.mcmc.gov.my/make-a-complaint/complaint-circle
user posted image

Generally that's how it should work.

My experience personally is that you should skip CMCF, I had issues with their online complaint form, it didn't work at all, I am not even sure if my complaint I sent about it not working was sent. For CFM, their "how to complaint " page has big bolded red letters referring you directly to SKMM and clicking on it does just that, for a while I wondered why I should go through CFM and not just complaint directly to SKMM...

I reported the matter to my telecommunications provider (Celcom), Carousell and SKMM in order but in the same hour or so. My complaint for all three is roughly:
QUOTE
I just registered to https://my.carousell.com/ today. While registering, one of the steps was to verify my phone number. I received the sms almost immediately after sending my phone number via their website, it was received even faster than the verification code sms. The purpose of giving them my phone number was to verify that I am the person registering, just like bank TACs. It is not to subscribe to a fraudulent scheme. A check on my credit balance showed RM4 had been deducted. I had not subscribed to any such thing. How could I be charged for this without my consent? Silence is not acceptance, it is illegal unless I express my consent actively. This is clearly fraudulent. It is ridiculous to have to reply to every such kind of message so not be charged continuously.

The next day I received a reply from my telco:
QUOTE

It is hoped that the above could clarify the situation and we appeal for your kind understanding in this circumstance.

Best regards,

(REDACTED)
Customer Service & Experience

Good news is my telco has stopped it, bad news is that I have to deal with the scammers myself for my rebate? ranting.gif I didn't do anything as I have already made a complaint to SKMM. Few days later I received this:
QUOTE
Hi Mr (REDACTED)

Content from shortcode 33611

Please be informed that the subscription for 33611 Belive has been deactivated as requested on (REDACTED).

Kindly be informed that rebate amounting RM4 for the content charges has been granted on (REDACTED) for the number (REDACTED).

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

Best regards

(REDACTED)

Customer Service & Experience

cc:

1. Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)

2. Head, Regulatory and Government Affairs - Celcom Axiata Berhad

To simplify, you should generally complain to your telecommunication provider first i.e. for billing or services issues and then escalate the matter to the higher authorities if it isn't solved. However for complex cases like repeating scams that involve numerous parties there should be an exception and SKMM should be informed from the beginning. The parties are:

The website with suspected security issues in registration system (Carousell), the scammer (Belive Mobile Sdn Bhd), telecommunications provider (my telco is Celcom but should depend on what number you used to verify with) and SKMM.

RM4 doesn't seem like a lot of money but it adds up to a significant amount for every victim that didn't complain or fought for their refund.

For my friend, they have this i-message sent to UK (not sure it is something like a iphone security system, sms to be sent once you switch on phone. Altho this is disable, but somehow some charges still applied.)

So any of u have this similar problem?

I had contacted Celcom previously through Facebook Messenger and he/she told that the service has been unsubscribed, but I still received the subscription anyway after that. End up I just send the STOP message to the number in the SMS. I haven't received any similar SMS after that. Maybe you can try that. smile.gif

Received an SMS on Monday evening from 32324:
"RM0: Successful registration. No subscription fee. Price:RM4.00/SMS .7 SMS/Week.Renewal on 11/26/2018. To cancel, send STOP HS to 32324."

Checked credit. 15 sen mysteriously missing, left RM4.85. I had RM5 on this number which I'm using for cheap data. No proof that this SMS caused the missing amount as I didn't check for some time. Ignored because it might be wrongly sent. I had TAC for XOX app registration sent to my number few days prior probably by mistake (You have to manually input the phone number).

10 minutes later XOX sent repeating SMS telling my account has no available credit. Panicked. Rechecked credit. 85 sen left!

Immediately called XOX CS. He immediately confirmed it was scam number for premium SMS service (What the heck is 'premium SMS'?!). Asked if I wanted this incident to be reported for refund of RM4. Of course! Still waiting for refund. Will report SKMM if taking too long.

How about giving the consumer the right to block / opt out of all interactions with ALL 3xxxx numbers for starters? It's like facebook gives us an option to opt out of certain things.

We can block phone numbers from calling or sending sms to us, BUT these 3xxxx numbers - seems they have direct access to our prepaid balances & ability to charge postpaid users. AND the only people who can stop that is the TELCO.

Anyone know the new minister? Or his Puchong service center special assistant etc?

*
I have the same charges last year and few times in a month or so . Tried googling this Elite Entertainment sdn bhd and found many images and links and best part is Elite is the member of CMCF!

Saw the complaints on CMCF portal complaint #128 http://www.cmcf.my/download/Complaints%20B...r%20Website.pdf and it shows 2012 for elite entertainment and this has been going on for ages. ohmy.gif

That's only for 2012. Just imagine how many hundreds of cases are reported todate.

BUT also imagine how many hundred thousands more cases NOT reported

I just wonder if MCMC have any intention to solve this problem or not? It's not a new problem.

Hi all,

I would like to ask if anyone encountered receiving sms with a bunch of digits (attached) before. I get one such sms every other day but I don't think I am being charged.

So far I've been deleting and blocking but I still keep getting them from a new number each day. Any one has any clue what these messages are and have successfully stopped them?

Apologies in advance if this topic doesn't quality as scam and am happy to start a new thread if necessary. Also thanks in advance for any input.

my elderly aunt lost at least RM60 to these scammers
I found this on her sms messages. She doesnt even know how to read or reply SMS. As you can see, she is using a classic Nokia phone
How can the telco let such thing to happen? They should ban all these. Only the telco should be allowed to deduct our credits, not some 3rd party

can somebody explain to me how they can do this? From this SMS, I dont even know what she is subscribed to. It says no subscription fees, so on what basis are they deducting money for?

Telco - Hotlink Prepaid. I was informed that there are two that my aunt's number is subscribed to - 36989 and 36881.

Get in touch with your telco live chat (most should have, right?) and literally fucuk them until they do something to refund your money ... copy or snap the chat transcript as evidence use eg send to MCMC. Also lodge complaint with MCMC. Remember no need to be gentlemen with them - fucuk kaw kaw. Telco is responsible because they allow these bastards to take money out of your account

most ppl dunno what to do, feel at a loss, like nothing can do. so these basterds carry on... 50sen here, 50 sen there..... adds up to millions! telco got no motivation to do anything cos they def untung everytime u sms & handle any transfer of fund from your acct to these basterds.

complain to telco & say u want them to block all 3series numbers & to disable interacting with those 3series . write to mcmc under the same case ref # telling them u ask telco to block 3series #

i dun see why mcmc cannot impose a rule saying that by default telco cannot allow 3 series to contact any subscriber. And only those who actively opt in to interact with 3series can do so... interact means to receive notifications /ads /offers & to send messages in reply / to subscribe

If everybody petition mcmc, maybe we'll get somewhere

Adding my own experience with sms scam, it's unique because I suspect that I automatically got subscribed to the scam by registering my phone number with "Carousell". You have to register a phone number to verify your account just like registering a new email.

The fraudulent sms came within seconds of clicking the confirm/affirmation button, it came even before the sms with pin used to verify my account arrived.

The fraudulent sms I got first was:

I ignored it as I did most weird junk messages. I didn't suspect anything was wrong until I got another sms the next day.

The next day I received a reply from my telco:

Good news is my telco has stopped it, bad news is that I have to deal with the scammers myself for my rebate? ranting.gif I didn't do anything as I have already made a complaint to SKMM. Few days later I received this:

*
i dont understand. Your telco helped you unsubscribe the content? But then it says if you want to unsubscribe, need to contact the content provider by yourself?

So we need to contact the content provider (scammer) by ourselves? Will they even unsubscribe it for us? Will it not be dangerous?

Funny the link didnt work when i clicked it from the sms message that i received, but worked when i clicked it in this forum. It went to Celcom Billing page for the content.

Thank God, successfully unsubscribe the content!
Sending STOP didnt work though, wonder why.

i didnt file a complaint for refund though.. Maybe i should.. How can we be subscribed to something automatically, even though we may have accidentally clicked the ads? It should come with confirmation button, or login... But there was nothing like that.

My SMS Spam Experience.

My mother was using Hotlink Prepaid but her top-up finished rapidly. Complained to Maxis office but they say cannot check her account or do anything. They suggest converting Hotlink Prepaid to Postpaid Flex and register under my name. I agree.

Received bill the next month with Content & Solution charge alone amounted to RM108.00. The SMS SPAM sent daily to my mother without her knowledge from MCOM SMS - 32369, Infobip Asia SMS - 36247 and Power SMS - 33789. I complained directly to MCMC & Maxis later settled my complaint by giving rebate.

Another matter, when converting Prepaid to Postpaid Flex, I asked the Maxis officer for BASIC account because my mother use basic mobile and does not know how to use the internet. The officer add Internet 4GB subscription costing RM10/monthly without my permission/knowledge. I also complaint this to MCMC & Maxis later cancel this RM10/monthly subscription.

Another thing, when I register this account, I signed the agreement on Maxis Terminal/Tab Screen. The officer did not show me the particular & terms of the agreement and did not give me any printed agreement. My mistake.

SO LESSON LEARNED :-
1. Always check you bill.
2. For any complaint, write it professionally. Complained directly to MCMC via their website/email and cc to Maxis.
3. Keep the complaint number when they reply. Maintain your complaint until Telcos take action.
3. Any new registration with Telcos, ask for HARD COPY/PRINTED agreement. Check every particulars & terms.

Hope, this is helpful.

Not bad at least u get full refund. This year Jan I was also auto charged and called hotlink but they only willing to give back few times the charge. And I thought that is it, but today I just got charged for RM5 from another SMS. Cancelled the sub and filed complain to hotlink. They always put the blame on customer and take no responsibility of it. I didn't click on any link nor register for anything online. 1 thing I notice is that I stopped criminal case for quite some time and when I play back out of boredom I got sms charged randomly. The previous time also I feel like something similar happened when I play criminal case on my phone using their apps. That apps play 2 round come out 1 time ads and you have to close it manually.

So do check any games that has a lot of ads and delete it. Useless telco and useless apps by charging ppl without consent

It states in the bill as "Hungama InApp".
How do I cancel/stop this from happening again?

Created an account only to come here to complain at how much my mother has lost her credit over and over to these scam messages yet I was the one getting the blame even when I'm only playing a simple game on the phone. No, I'm not angry at my mother but instead this scammer that took all of our credit and gave no poo about it. At first, I thought it was my mother who subscribe to it accidentally, but now that I keep getting these message and credit loss, I started to look upon the internet and look what I just found out. We are not so rich as to not give a single poo when the credit was a loss. What in the world that does that work for the hotline do for? Are they doing their job properly? If I could sue, I would definitely do it. Losing the money you earned through hard work and sweats is not cool, not cool at all. I have sent my complaint to MCMC, but I won't let my hope up since these shit always happens, and government give no flying shit about it and instead talks about rising the price or whatnot. To them, we are just their citizen isn't? Which was why scam runs havoc in this country. I'm so ashamed about this so much.

https://pictr.com/images/2019/09/23/5z1GeI.md.png

And this is not the first time it happened. The older message was already deleted.

My one hotlink number already occurred 4TH times for this content SMS.
Basically mostly scam message from 3XXXX..

Seriously, how come those 3rd party can allow register under Malaysia?
Normally register those SMS code must be agree from MCMC in order to operate.

What we think that MCMC might allow those 3rd party to register..
And the telco should avoid by create a lot barrier such as TAC or OTP or verification code before get into to purchase the apps/wallpaper/video/music or something else even porn.. shakehead.gif

But end up telco blame to customers. Then customers report to mcmc..
End up telco compensate the amount to customers.

And again new 3rd parties register from mcmc..
Again suddenly you receive spam sms been imposed certain charges.

That's NON-STOP at the end..

Useless telco and useless apps by charging ppl without consent

actually Digi is also the same. On and off I will receive calls from all over the places like Liberia, Pupua New Guinea, Ascension Island etc etc. And even if I don’t answer the call I am still being charged for it.

Our telco here is very much useless and their telco system is actually compromised and they are really useless. Such big company telco but they cannot do anything, but when comes to barring our line that one number one.

And so easily blame us consumer for this say we click website la, click app la, reply sms la. All this is bullshit ok. App can magically register without our permission, or browsing the internet can can cause this to effect telco. Like that means telco useless la right.

Alot of people not very well versed in it so those customer service just bullshit their way out of the problem cause lazy to work and follow up cause we paying for it not them. So easy ask consumer work out their own problems with the scam company which uses the telco network to conduct illicit activity.

Look at my screenshot even since two months ago I have had invalid sim card at certain locations and when I ask Digi I am asked to change my simcard or try in on another phone. Right i am suppose to believe that a phone which cost a thousand is faulty and not their RM 10 simcard. Use a thousand dollar item to test a 10 dollar sim card that really freaking genius.

I went and buy another sim card with a different telco and test it works fine. When i answer back to the customer service, gagap, can’t answer ask me go replace RM 10. The simcard inside my phone untouched since i bought the phone now becomes faulty we consumers have to pay?

You know it is clear that these scammers are making money and the telcos are benefiting plus their system has been compromised. And i suspect those scammers are piggybacking on consumer line like mine that is why invalid sim and not no simcard detected.

What has MCMC done all this while ? I see post dating back almost 5 years and still nothing being done. All those money has to go somewhere and into some account. PDRM sleeping ? MCMC sleeping or all tak mau kerja want makan gaji buta. like that also cannot track najib 2.4 b also can track this type of chicken feet scam cannot ?

Right now I'm trying to focus my complaint to MCMC and XOX to the unauthorised usage of number aka simcard hijacking. Doing this by reopening my complaint, answered why the issue is not yet resolved by the telco company, and proposed my expected resolution. Basically, I'm doing forensic investigation job and covering my base as much as possible just in case. The closest analogy to MCMC's SOP is how FCC certified the Boeing 737 MAX by pushing all the test processes to Boeing itself.

Probably the only way MCMC and telco companies will wake up is when random phone numbers were hijacked for a horrible catastrophe and the perpetrators were able to get away undetected by framing the hijacked numbers' owners.

I have been receiving p2p spam SMS like crazy, will get at least one every 2~3 days. Mostly gambling and porn invites. Raised a case to MCMC and Celcom replied. Guess what, their solution is that those numbers are not Celcom numbers and asked me to continue blocking them. Why the hell I raise the ticket than?

I've blocked about 110 numbers for now...

Celcom just billed me RM 1 per day for 22 days naming NextGen (for BIGWIN). Celcom also listed it as an iTunes purchase (on my android?).
I never registered for anything.
Calling and mailing celcom results in them forwarding me to Apple Support...
So I just registered a MCM complaint... hope that will fix it.

My father kena this BigWin scam whereby they charged RM1.60 per SMS received. They send 25 SMS per month, each RM1.60 since May 2020. Just called them and they mentioned it is by 3rd party company called bigwin and asked me to email to support@bigwin.promo which was ridiculous because first of all, the invoice is by Celcom and of course we deal with Celcom. In the end they said will rebate the amount but will take 3-5 working days. Let's see how it goes.

Meanwhile further checks in google revealed a 2018 article in celcom.com.my revealing this bigwin is owned by Celcom. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Anyway to avoid all this scam?

Cos my parents all cancel their phone services due to this

now want to do a Google Home for parents and need a smart phone to do callings only.

My old parent only know how to do calls using the phone hence unaware they are getting cheated by Scam SMS until bill come.

Is there a really Safe Telco? How about Unifi Mobile?

Hi, I have an urgent question about torus-pro.com, whether anyone encounter this crypto trading website, because i think its a scam. It required a person to pay them a sum of money so they can pay it as tax to Singapore government before a person can withdraw money.

After a few months not getting any scam attempts call, i just got 1 today. A mobile number called but I'm not going to mention it here since it can be spoofed. A chinese lady speaking broken malay say shes from "Jabatan Teknologi dan Pematuhan" or something, i can't really remember but i immediately knew thats bullshit since the number called is mobile 012-xxxxx. No govt department will call from mobile number. She knew my full name, but thats probably from some telco leak. The modus operandi is she threatening to terminate my mobile number, expecting me to panic since nowadays mobile numbers are important tied to bank etc. Probabaly would proceed to ask my banking details or instruct me to move money to some mule accounts afterwards if i layan, typical scam attempts. I immediately hung up while shes still trying to explain her bullshit lol.
