A thing to share from my friend,

He changed his category from dining to utilities on May and performed the transaction of utilities (pay TNB at payonline) on 30th April. The transaction was posted on 2nd May but when he received his statement on the first week of June, he found out that the transaction was not tagged with the category of utilities. However subsequent utilities transactions made in May were all tagged as utilities category so he doesn’t think it is the MCC code problem. He thinks that it was the transaction date that matters as in April his selected categories were dining and petrol, not utilities. He has raised this issue to HLB CS and they are still checking for him. I thought since the posting date is in May so he will get the rebate. But not in this case? So any idea what is the problem?

Giant. I can only buy those RM50 gift card. Haven't seen any vouchers yet. Even gift card, my place many cashier dont even know how to operate too. vmad.gif

As for Tesco. I have not seen vouchers more than rm10. Normally receive those RM1 n RM2 vouchers from Tesco thru mail.

you can buy giant vouchers too. but it's a hassle unless you have a lot of free time to waste. you need to fill in a form at the service counter, and the form need to be passed to their office for the vouchers to be printed for you, and the expiry date to be stamped one by one (6 months).

you will get crazy if you buy at a big giant outlet which the office is far from the service counter. the staff will take his/her own sweet time walking slowly (lepak here/there in between) to the office and back. longer time if you missed filling certain part of the form, in which they need to come back from the office to the service counter to inform you for you to fill again, and send back to the office.

tesco you can just buy from the service counter. they don't need your detail and they have ready vouchers. so they just need to stamp the date of purchase on it and the voucher will expire in 1 year from the date.

Guys, just wan to check with u all. If I ady swipe RM50 x 10 time ,
I eligible for cash back 10% in 2 selected categories right ?

What if I swipe the next transaction on RM30. Did that transaction also eligible for cash back of RM3 (RM30 x 10%).

Or All transaction must be above RM 50 to eligible for cash back ?
A bit confusing there. As it didn't clarified.

From Last March's transaction and March Rebate received on 27-May-2015.

I can now confirmed the following
Transaction Date : 31-March-2015
Posting Date : 01-April-2015
10% Rebate was calculated as part of APRIL's Rebate (not under March)

In conclusion : In which month the Rebate is calculated for, will be based on Posting Date

There's no right or wrong on this, it is important that you shall have 10 X rm50 transactions within 21-25 days.
Why not 30 days? It is because the last few days transaction may or may not posted as you wish.
I've face like this before, I already spent rm1000 throughout the month and swipe another rm100 on 29th of the month(that only has 30 days), it posted on 30th which I'm expecting it to be posted on 1st of next month, so rm100 no cash back.
Then when my spending was only rm900 throughout the month and swipe another rm100 on 29th of the month, it was posted on 1st which I can't maximize the cash back doh.gif
Some said before if using HLB's terminal(like in Thestore) will have same day posting, again I'll say it is another busted myth. Thestore are using few categories terminals, like in supermarket where it shall be under groceries, sometimes it will be using departmental terminals, when this happens, indeed it will be posted on the same day, since you are getting rm0 cash back.
You can't say HLB's T&C are confusing, more on them are playing with grey areas on trying to deny your cash back.
And they will share your personal info within HL Group. When this happens, lodge a complaint against them.

It is same as 0 interest period, it can only be used for 21-25 days in a month laugh.gif
But now after plan my spending properly where 1st week sure will hit 10 transactions and last transaction will be on 25th(if got 31 days for that month).
Then will be using other cards to back up in case of any sudden death spending.

It's true that AEON Supermarket was previously under "DEPARTMENTAL STORE" MCC.
When MBB Terminal with Visa PayWave was introduce (Around May 2013), either AEON/MBB decide to "re-categorise" into Grocery MCC and Departmental MCC.

The same scenario with Starbucks... previously under Dining MCC, now no longer. Starbucks also uses MBB terminals

It is always "WISER" to read the T&C... but the point is that HLB "tried" to confuse those who read them.

Then Starbucks under what category?

Can we complaint to UOB that jusco supermarket not under groceries too? I once swipe 800+ on jusco supermarket n only realize this after I receive my statement. Cash rebate only 0.3% instead of 2%. My wise card already fully maximize. This prompt me to apply more wise card under my wife n sister name. laugh.gif
*
Just spend some time on reading their new T&C, indeed the "transaction posting date" missing from it doh.gif
If you want to complaint, read the T&C properly first.
(g) The assignment of Merchant Category for each merchant is subject to classification by the respective acquiring banks and it is the responsibility of the particular acquiring bank to assign the correct Merchant Category. HLB shall not be held responsible for any incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category that may result in non-posting of the Cash-Back for retail transactions at the
eligible merchants. The Cardholder shall not be entitled to claim for any compensation against HLB for such non-posting of the Cash-Back due to incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category by the respective merchant’s acquiring bank.

With this statement only you bring up to where also cannot win doh.gif
So, no Jusco for me if want to use STUPID card, I still got MBB AMEX to use if I really want to spend in Jusco. But the groceries are not cheap most of the time(Salmon Fish are nice, but need rm54 per KG and not fresh).

I don't want to take the risk on not getting cash back and another reason is, the price are not cheap comparing to Tesco or AeonBig.

no, don't get confused. uob doesn't offer grocery cb based on mcc. they only offer grocery cb for swipes made in these 5 places: aeon big, tesco, cold storage, jaya grocery, giant. which means not even include mydin, econsave, hero, nsk, etc.

Base on my 4 months usage of this card.. i calculate back.. the effective cash back is only 6.2% for me.. wacko.gif

i cant really make sure my card swept at exactly 1000 per months.. sometime more, sometime less.. in conclusion, i only get 6.2% after minus off 13 every month for the 160 annual fee..

not that straightforward actually. in order to achieve that, you must separate your expenses into 3 categories and save rm5 expenses per category. for eg, spend rm325, rm325, rm335 to get rm33, rm33, rm34 cb respectively.

if you only utilising 2 categories, you can only save rm10 expenses = rm990. if only 1 category utilised, rm995 max.

don't actually understand.

for example, why can't i pay utility RM50X10. and balance i pay say mobile RM495X1 to achieve total RM995? which means cashback RM100?

That means, spend a cumulative total of RM985 to achieve RM100 cashback, effective rate is about 10.15%  thumbup.gif

i've simulated the calculation (on paper), you need to all 3 categories to achieve highest cashback rate with the lowest spending  sweat.gif

My laziness to do the summation of the 3 categories. So I just take it as can get full rebates as I more than 985. tongue.gif

You need to play with the rounding up decimal to get that, so you need to have rm*5 for the 3 categories.

MaxisPay minimum spending is rm35 while the rest you can swipe as minimum as rm5 as long as merchants never put minimum spending amount.

These codes are sort of like a survey did by HLB to categorize the cardholders where they got the info about this 30% cash back campaign. Eg W1 is from sms blasting and you replied W1, meaning you fall into this category, W2 from email flyer/brochures, W3 from website, etc etc.

Btw anyone already completed their 3 weekday swipes? I almost forgot tongue.gif

HL Fortune vs HL Essential? Which is better in your opinion? Both will get 1% rebate but for fortune it can be use for petrol transactions. Any cons for the fortune card?

*found my answer. fortune only limited to RM50 rebate/month and need to spend a minimum of rm1k to get the rebate whereas essential only need to spend a minimum of rm100 a month to qualify for unlimited rebate.

i think maybe it does matter. because you can't activate your cc with a phone which is not registered in the form when you apply for the cc. but not sure whether the same applies to this 30% campaign.

my phone got barred for not paying my outstanding bill, so i can't sms to register for the contest. so i plan to use another phone to register and then later today pay my phone bill 3x for the contest. sweat.gif

you may try but i think you will receive a reply sms saying that it's unsuccessful.

when you sms, you don't have to key in cc number right? so how are they going to link your unregistered phone number with your cc number?

anyway, i still don't think it's so important to swipe 3x on early weekdays. more important is the weekend transaction must be early. unless the cb allocation is finishing and there were many swiped at the same time on that weekend, so they have to use the weekdays 3x transactions to judge. so after you paid and unbar your phone only join is still not too late.

For post paid, you can actually call for getting extended period up to last day of the month. When on the last day of a month, call them again to extend it to another 1-2 days. Maxis allows me to do so.
But before you do this, make sure you are getting average of -rm** average.
This is how I made rm7++ direct to Maxis laugh.gif
You may give a try today and ask for the extension. But make sure you do the payment once you registered for this.

i just tried for fun with my other phone and it says successful registration.

to register for the contest, need to type W1/W2/W3/W4<space>16 digits of CC number, so yeah they don't know which phone but they know your card.

it's not about early or not, it's about me not able to submit my SMS since my line is barred.

If register using another number, then no need already.
But next time when you need to do something(can't pay on time), always call them to extend the period.

Now with this STUPID card, you can always pay on time. My Maxis account always ending up with -rm** as this is the buffer for me to get rm100 of cash back monthly thumbup.gif
If you are swiping 3 categories, just spend rm985 in total to get rm100 notworthy.gif

also, i registered the campaign by replying to the sms i received (sms blast from HL) with "WW" and they sent a confirmation sms soon after, informing that my registration is successful

I have both Mach and WISE. Sometimes the T&C and mechanics between the two would be rather confusing especially if you mix them in 1 thread. I think for benefit of clarity it is best to separate the 2.

One time registration only. Refer my explanation below for W1/W2 etc...

QUOTE(kelvinlzy @ May 29 2015, 03:18 PM)
These codes are sort of like a survey did by HLB to categorize the cardholders where they got the info about this 30% cash back campaign. Eg W1 is from sms blasting and you replied W1, meaning you fall into this category, W2 from email flyer/brochures, W3 from website, etc etc.

Btw anyone already completed their 3 weekday swipes? I almost forgot tongue.gif

Anyone make bill payment through payonline with Wise card today?

I have made 2 bills with multiple transaction

Bill 1 - 3 times transaction, received email from payonline that status is not approved
Bill 2 - 7 times transaction, status approved

Would like to ask any reason Bill 1 not approved but approved on Bill 2?? Both bills have pay on the same time this morning.

Can I make transaction again on Bill 1 or wait until tomorrow??

bill 1, try later or tomorrow. most likely HLB is rejecting it.

i experienced the same for Digi postpaid bill. annoying as hell since i keep calling HLB to verify each "not approved" transaction didnt go thru. once i gotten 20+ failed transactions, confused the HLB CS kawkaw sweat.gif

can see that you are more annoying than me since failed for 20+ transaction...

more related to HLB and the timing on the transaction. possibly account housekeeping/refresh, or donno-what biggrin.gif

all my failed transaction were successful with TAC (from payonline), yet rejected. asked payonline, they said it's HLB's issue. called HLB, they verified no successful trnsaction captured (phew!) and asked me to try again. later, went thru easily.

I thought weekdays 3x spend is for qualified requirement for the 30% rebate and only dining transaction on weekend get the 30% rebate?

Which mean i need to spend on dining on weekend to get the 30% rebate right even i'm fullfil the 3x weekday spending.

Funny things is i 100% sure i never use my wise for for dining. Because my wise category is petrol and utilities. The Rm100 quota already not enough for my petrol+Maxis+ TNB bil. lol

hmm I was referring to the 'GST 6%/30% cashback' promo. cuz I got the same SMS and I found my name in this winners list.

my name is not in the previous 30% cashback promo.

This is more faster way than received a post from HQ.

Noticed that the petrol I was pump on 30 May at night time, it was posted on 31 May, but not 1 June cry.gif

But the next day I pump (31 May) again, it was posted on 2 June

For HL Connect online, it seems there is no option to check for your unbilled credit card transactions i.e transactions not posted to statement yet. Is this true?

Other credit cards allow one to view unbilled transactions.

I'm referring to transactions done say today but not yet posted by merchant.
Mind to share which option to select in HL Connect? I can only see Transaction history but when I select, it is empty.
I called the contact center and the guy told me I cannot view it online, need to call them if I want to know the unbilled transactions.

Transaction History only show posted (successful, claimed by merchant) transactions.

Your earlier question was "transactions not posted to statement yet", this herc was correct. Transactions posted BUT not yet billed in statement will be displayed in Trasaction History.

After statement is out, Transaction History will be empty and stored in Statement History instead.

now, if you are asking unposted transactions specifically, then the only way is to call CS. I always do this whenever i have doubt about a particular transaction i just did.

note, posting (to ur card/account) is usually 1-2 days after transaction. Listing in HLConnect is another +1 day.

I dont think posting date matters. Only transaction date. Previous 30% dining cash back winners can clarify whether their sunday dining which most likely ll get posted on monday got their cash back or not.

Another victim the been cheated by the the agent.

So far there is no successful case that second year can be waived by calling the HLB. Those few lucky people is just didn't get charged, not get waived.

And no, you r not compulsory to get 2 card, except you apply for a combo card package.Or they have set the T&C to get their freebies at event booth is must apply combo card. Then different story.

Just try to call CS and see how lo.

Refer to the barcode at the bottom.

First 14 digits is your account number. Your bill number is the 8 digits after that.

The last set of barcode is just the bill amount you owe.

Call CS to find out, sometimes it is posted late. Once confirm in, then only do weekend spend. Remember to jot down CS's name and time of call.

T+3 mar, so best of luck whistling.gif
T+1 only applied to some situation, not all the time sure you will get it.
If you don't believe, always do transaction on last 1 day before next month, 1 time with cash back reached max and another time still got long way more to reach. Same merchant transaction laugh.gif

don't waste your time. activate and start using. now not even mid month. still can easily hit 10x rm50 to get 10%. time is precious for this cc. max to get rm1200 cashback a year before they start charging you af already.

Billion I think is groceries but Thestore is you have to test your luck.
My area don't have Billion, so unable to give you the right answer. But for TheStore Seremban, it is mixed and even with HLB terminal, it won't have direct posting like some said here.

I don't if this been mention before, but i just wanted to update some info. I just realise not all transaction on the petrol station give the rebate. It will only be categorize as petrol if pay using the machine on the pump station, pay within the counter doesn't count as petrol. and it seems makes sense to me.

as cipher3344 mentioned, ensure the ACCOUNT number is correct, bill number is not important.

i suspect TNB's billing is account-based, and payment allocation is based on oldest outstanding bill first.

that means, regardless of bill number, any payment received will used to knockoff the oldest outstanding bill (in your case, previous bill first, only then current bill).

Yes, I have tried both, but not such small amount.

But why would u pay insurance using Wise Card which u don't get any CB, just transaction count only.

When u plan to pay for the insurance? Pay few times of RM50 on the same day around the due date?
You might be in trouble if u pay in different date / still no yet due date which insurance company might refund it to you as they considered exceed payment.

Hi guys, couldnt find the thread for essential card. Decided to ask here.

Anyone know if lets say I have limit of RM8k, and I spent RM16k on that particular month. Which mean After I swipe 8k, I made my payment immediately. Then I swipe again - how much cashback I will get? Thanks!

Had a pretty nasty experience of applying Wise at the Brickfield branch.

Brought my employment letter and latest epf statement which reflects upon the amount of salary I am receiving but they were still asking for bank statement/payslip. Can't recall cimb or maybank ever asking me for bank statements when my epf is already updated to the latest date with the correct amount.

Kinda facepalm and walked away. Guess I won't be joining this club anytime soon.

Yes, I have tried both, but not such small amount.

But why would u pay insurance using Wise Card which u don't get any CB, just transaction count only.
*
Yup just for transaction count to 10 due to I may not able to reach 10 transactions for petrol, mobile and electricity.

QUOTE(sms2u @ Jun 23 2015, 10:21 AM)
When u plan to pay for the insurance? Pay few times of RM50 on the same day around the due date?
You might be in trouble if u pay in different date / still no yet due date which insurance company might refund it to you as they considered exceed payment.
*
I plan to pay few times of RM50 on the same day around the due date so that i will not be confused.
As I may not able to reach 10 transactions for petrol, mobile and electricity, so insurance may be an alternative option.

1st usually are waived.
2nd year, they "forgot" to charge me the AF. When get charged, no harm on trying call for waive as some gets it.
3rd year, charged, called but can't waive.

6 months probably.

But if you can submit your latest information, should be no problem.

And side note : How does 0% BT can raise CCTRIS alert? I thought your credit card A settles the full sun for Credit Card B and you repay Credit Card A according to their payment schedule?

There should be no alert on CCTRIS if you pay everything by due date of the statement right?

i pay in full every month. no single cent of interest charged to my account. my payment record in CCRIS is all nice 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 for 12 months

however,
overr CCRIS record there, we can see the total credit limit and also outstanding balances

for examples, for total credit limit for all my credit cards is 100k, but I have RM60k outstanding balances (due to balance transfer). maybe bank will think that i am paying minimum payment for each month only and therefore label me as high risk

yes, which is why we suggested the lowest spending to get the highest cashback is rm335(category 1)+rm325(category 2)+rm325(bonus category) = rm985 to get rm100 cashback.

Few questions
1. So if I swipe say 10x but the 10th time is say only RM30. So cashback (CB) is not active?
2. So if I swipe 9x but already >RM500, CB is still not active?
3. CB include in the RM500 (to activate CB) or not included?
4. So if after exceeding RM500, if I swiped some more, I still get 10% CB until RM100 is reached right?

1. You will get all the rebates for 11 transactions provided all within the 3 categories.
Scenario A: You swipe 10x RM50 for categories other than you selected. 11th transaction is RM30 for mobile. Monthly rebate = RM3.
Scenario B: Same as A but the 10 transactions are in the categories you selected. Monthly rebate = RM53.
2. Monthly rebate = RM0.
3. 4. See No. 1.

So each transaction have to be minimum RM50 to be counted. hmm.gif Kind of tricky. Need to keep count of each transaction.

What about auto-debit transaction, like those monthly payment/bills that is automatically charged to credit card (even if is not part of any of the categories). Are those counted as "transaction" as well to fulfill the 10X RM50 requirement?

Thanks.

So each transaction have to be minimum RM50 to be counted.  hmm.gif Kind of tricky. Need to keep count of each transaction.
*
for mobile and utilities I find it easy to remember as I can pay Rm50 multiple times on the spot during bill payment. also, it's ok to pay more each time you pay bill and not spend the following month. this month you can fulfill the 10x requirement.

Guess not. Cause you need to select what categories you want and then use the card to pay for the categories

Yes, it is counted as transactions.
But then if you do so, the effective cash back are < 8%.
So this card shall be your second card and cannot be used as first card.

Meaning to say:

5 X RM50 (all are part of the selected 3 categories) = rebate RM25 ?

But for above to be valid, I will need another 5 X RM50 transaction to meet the "10 X RM50" requirement. So I perform another 5 more RM50 transaction that is not valid in any of the categories: like Astro... Insurance... Hospital... I will still entitle the RM25 cash back?

Is this understanding correct?

Thanks.

your impression is from those who wanted to maximize ALL their spending within selected categories AND meeting 10x RM50 transactions at the same time.

actual fact is, ANY RM50 transactions shall be counted to "activate" the 10% cashback; however only transactions within selected categories would be given cashback.

as janson_kaniaz mentioned, if this is your ONLY card, then no need to bother much. just hit 10x RM50 transactions on whatever that you spend, then cashback will be given to those within selected categories.

Yes, but no more 8% cash back, it will be diluted. So if this is the case, better get cards like Maybank dual cards.

Assuming you are getting rm100 of cash back by spending sharp rm1000 on the 3 selected categories, that's rm1200 of total cash back and rm12000 spent.
But, AF can't be waived from 3rd year onward(I say from 3rd year as 1st year sure waived, 2nd year some can get while some are not and 3rd year cure charge and by doing anything also cannot be waived). So you need to pay rm169.6(GST inclusive), so rm1200-169.6 = rm1030.4 of total cash back.
And your spending still at rm12000, so it is 8.58%, but I just use 8%.
If you spend lesser than rm985 or spend > rm1000 or non selected categories, it will dilute your cash back more sweat.gif

Yup, that's right.
But then even from 3rd year onward, it is still worth to use, as long as you spend rm985 thumbup.gif
Thus, I never say 10% but 8% laugh.gif

Next week I will know if I am second time lucky. If you ask me how to get Wise Card AF waiver, it might be due to Priority Banking status, a huge deposit in your account, or a huge loan with HLB. That might trigger the waiver icon_rolleyes.gif

hello frens

my wise card on groceries now wanna switch to utilities. besides TNB anyone tried other payments eg Tel, IWK etc, got accepted for CB?

wanna consult those choosing utilities,
for one TNB bill say RM400, do you make multiple part payments, RM100 each time,
all same day or do you pay multiple payment in different days?

Payment via uobpayonline would be most convenient, any other online way to pay that break down bills?

So far you guys managed to get those eg. 4 transactions for single TNB bill counted as 4 transactions?

yeah i think so. my 2nd year Mac 2014 , no AF, 3rd year (me no more PB status) AF charged RM80 on 1.3.2015. No GST for that AF.

Like someone said. Pay the bills into 8xRM50. That way. Left 2 more transaction (2xRM50) to activate CB. Better if the final 2 transaction also inside the CB category. That way, you already earn RM50 (10% x RM500) smile.gif

no condition. HLB specifically said Wise is giving 10% cashback, no AF waiver policy.

in fact, i'm not complaining to get charged RM169.60 AF+GST for year 2. i've gotten slightly over RM1k in cashback for year 1, still a darn good card.

Anyone heard the news about Petrol price for next month??

If increase, can plan to pump petrol today since posting date more likely after 2 days from transaction date  tongue.gif

yeah, i pumped my car full tank with this card on 30/6 night.

QUOTE(red_scorpion @ Jun 30 2015, 03:39 PM)
I don't think there will be a increase..World petrol price still the same or dropped little bit compare end of last month..
*
using world crude oil price as guidance is just an excuse. they still increased the price to cover back the previously maintained petrol price due to by-election.
