doh.gif HP SimplePass not working for windows logon again. It seems it's some of the newer windows update that made it incompatible with windows 7...

Maybe I'm forever stuck with typing password for logon D:

Which service do you mean?

The fingerprints are enrolled properly, but for windows logon it just works on and off, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sigh.

try update it again. Cat 11.8 driver version should be 8.880.x.x not 8.830.x.x

i'm not sure about MSE.. lastime i used it didn't behave like that.

It's automatic.

Btw, I just tried optimizing boot speed according to the guide, and met with a "gave up waiting for prefetch data" after the first few runs, any ideas why?

which dv6 model you have? for me i have the dv6-6001tx (manual graphics switch) and i can tell you it works... How is the four speakers perform, has anyone here compared with Y560/570 ?

Does the beat make any big different on these four speakers? Or just on the earphone jack ?

Congratz for v4, I just collected back my laptop from HP Service Center(HP Tower), I must say their customer service is really good, the purpose I sent in my laptop is because of two issues, one is the keyboard spacebar has some irritating sound when I press on it but it's working fine another issue was the LCD lid cannot close tightly, amazingly HP change a whole new LCD and a whole new keyboard for me and it was done in just two days after I sent in my laptop.

wanna ask if anyone has problem with the USB3.0?
I suspect my previous hang up problem is due to USB3.0, most of them i use it as broadband USB dongle, it will bound to happen.

if i power up with the dongle plug in, it'll take forever to boot up..

new dlc not yet out leh. sien pesedit patch got some error. like everton got emblem name EVE but it show BOL & i can't change it. i posted at his forum but dunno he got fixed bo. from 1st patch till the latest 1 also got this issue.

u play w/o patch right? got duplicated player Sotirios Kyrgiakos at liverpool & wolfsburg. u can find Sotirios Kyrgiakos when u wanna transfer this fella. just remove it. done~

i think black box issue. i saw official installer for english r out.

i use arsenal often ah. better dun use that on competition cos easily conceded goal. i can beat superstar mode but lost to my brother. when u defend dun press sprint 2 much. just follow them. timing must good when pressing 'x' to pressure/steal the ball. ur config got issue ah?

barca r imho. i'm chelsea fans. laugh.gif u never update 1.01 patch is it? u must update it. fix blur image + the game play on GK & etc

i don't think its blackbox issue. arsenal is my favorite team.. 2nd favorite is barca. laugh.gif

so easy to shot and score with barca but when use arsenal damn hard eventho my positiion is good.


i can only play at regular level but i have no problem beating my friend who's playing@superstar mode. tongue.gif

1) pass r easier compared to pes 11 (not realistic) maybe i set assisted.

2) when corner kick, player will attempt overhead kick or heading unlike pes 11 mostly attempt scissors kick so pes 12 r better on this point.

3) when player take freekick that the ball blocked away from player, the player attempt scissors kick damn fake. hard 2 scored compare pes 11.

4) penalty easy than pes 11 but i managed to control it on pes 11 damn well. now pes 12 can't kick low & mostly all high or middle. i prefer pes 11 a lot ppl complaint bout it cos i think they noob.

5) easy to scored from middle range or long range. damn easy to beat offside trap. unlike pes 11 i can't make u 90% can't beat my offside trap.

i usually plug in my battery when the laptop is off. you can hibernate and plug in the battery.

1. fast shooting gauge.. what's the point of the gauge when u only need to tap the shoot button to shoot properly.
2. bad collision detection.
3. lame shooting power and trajectory.
4. inability to remap 'super cancel' button.
5. dumb ai who always intercept my dribbling path.

i think i'll give this patch a try..

meanwhile in Fifa 12...

wanna ask question... i have problem.. when i plug in my usb external hard disk, my usb mouse stop working then when i replug back my usb mouse.. it start working again.

every time when i plug or unplug something at usb port.. device that still plug in usb port will stop working..need tu plug back again..

do i need to update to latest driver???

Thanks Acid for the clarification... rclxms.gif But as efalex point out, there is a new AMD driver dated 16 Sep in HP site. I doubt it's the latest AMD driver though ie 11.9...

your driver kept crashing? mind installing latest MSI Afterburner beta and enable overclocking mode 2 instead of 1.

Hi, anyone previously bought together with the Beats Solo headphone ?

Now my headphone right speaker got some noise distortion when the heavy base come in.

Want to ask how to claim warranty for the headphone ??

RiverDeifte. Need to ask him/her how is the procedure to RMA the headphone.

Didnt post back the warranty card when first get it. Don't know might effect the warranty or not.

I'm using Logitech F510 and Razer Onza. You can get cheaper Logitech F310 which don't have vibration rotor. Physical button to switch between DirectInput and Xinput.

Might take the 6114tx as it has the ability to upgrade the machine into 16GB! (Tentatively needs only 8GB anyway)

I just bought 6114tx, with RM 2999. I request to change the hand carry bag into bag pack with additional RM 60. So total amount is RM 3059. Free Kungfu panda flash drive+laptop sleeve + free upgrade RAM into 8GB.

Yo, for the warranty.. I haven't check yet, will let you know after I read the details hehe..

I got it from Mobility Square at Digital Mall, PJ.
For 6001tx, it is still available in RM 2899. (Not sure is the promotion for student still available or not. With student ID u will get RM 200 discount)

no wor, for this model no student discount. Hahaha, it's worth anyway as it comes with another additional 2 year warranty. Meaning that the laptop got 3 year warranty in total. So nothing much to worry already!

Looks the the DV6 range is already being updated with new CPUs in HP websites overseas. i5-2410 --> i5-2430, i7-2630 --> i7-2670. I'm sure the prices will increase later when these new CPUs are updated over here... sad.gif

Extract the zip file and run it. You might need Administrator privilege.

When the temps reach 85c, the fan will enter demolition mode as long as the temps stay. You probably won't notice it when gaming because of the game sound.

oh because now i'm using pavillion dm3 .and it always...become hot. very fast.
really annoy me. cos. the most of the dm3 are made of metal chasis. alll the way to the trackpad. and palm rest.

hopefully dv6 is not like this :/

1. Download and install MSI Afterburner beta here.
2. Open a file name MSIAfterburner.cfg with Notepad inside MSI AF main folder and change from

If you want cheaper alternative, Logitech F510 is the model to pick.

Yeah dilemma over which controller xP

I read some reviews where F510 is said to have dead zones in the directional pads doh.gif

So far not a single bad review on the Onza...though I've never used an xbox controller.

Both sticks are responsive and precise. That's why i only use it for games like rFactor or Shift 2.

I bought F310 as spare when i sent my Onza for RMA. I'll continue to use it on games that don't need precise controlling and don't support vibration. tongue.gif

If u watch my Crysis 2 video in the 1st page, i was actually playing it with Onza till halfway. laugh.gif

I'm using CoolerMaster U3 and it works admirably. It costs RM75 at All IT hypermarket now if I'm not mistaken.

I bought mine from a forum seller at RM85. Still worth the money.

The main reason why U3 is good is because of the adjustable fan positions. Solely because of this, I would say the U3 is better than the former.

heya guys..

tried gaming on my laptop for the first time..tried fifa12..how do I get the game to utilise the whole laptop screen rather than just the middle?

Tried to find it through the graphics properties in windows but to no avail...thanks guys

I'm using avast too. If you notice, all your browsing traffic goes through avast for screening first. Placebo or not, I think it's safer tongue.gif

Why when im enable the "force video overlay" , the video become blur? and even after i force it run in 60fps it wont show too .. juz showing 2x ... driver problem?

detail boost tend to make ur video look weirdly sharp.. i turn it off. i use light boost when my video is dark..

Added on October 20, 2011, 1:35 amyou can try download HD/FHD video from Youtube to see the difference.

That magnet is to trigger the sleep mechanism when you close the lid..
You can try by hovering magnet around the area on the body then the laptop will sleep..

Did anyone of you having the problem where laptop will suddenly hang for long time, then after clicked restart, it will "failed" to enter to bios, just remain at black screen?

I checked the event log, under application log there's error for ATI: ATI EEU failed to post message to CCC

Any solution for this? Reinstall the driver for ATI? My driver is the latest one as I just updated it 2 days ago.

T___T second time having this problem already..

Nope, I didn't auto hide the task bar... anyway, this only will happen after I run the VMware (32bit version) for let say 1 hour... if normal usage, everything is as cool as James Bond!

Driver from HP give u px profile, display driver, switchable component & CCC.

If u need AVIVO, OpenCL driver, HydraVision & Drag&Drop converting u need to overwrite with driver from AMD.

IMO, eboostr improved my system response.. but i only use ram as cache drive. My cache/disk hit ratio is 60%.

You can try any of these drivers... AMD 11.5b, DNA 11.5b, DNA 11.8.3, AMD 11.9.

Right now i'm trying leaked AMD driver.. 8.892.x.xxx.

this is my first HP laptop...last time use acer and did'nt do proper setup and maintenance....

for me the best performance driver is the one u install from ati / amd website itself.. the mobility 11.9 .. i've tried pes 2012 and fifa 2012 at high setting 1920x1080 the gameplay is very smooth.

btw, when u bought that laptop, do u get any cd? like recovery, or driver cd?

For demanding games like crysis, dragon age, witcher etc, it is unlikely that the 6770M can play at 1080p with max settings smoothly...

The football games should definitely run smoothly though

Don't remove the original AMD driver, you would need it to keep the switchable GPU functions. Just straight install the newer amd driver.

Hmm, CPU max temp 87C and GPU max temp 79.5C after playing dragon age for 2 hours on max settings (with U3 cooler and a mini fan blowing at the keyboard)

Seems quite high considering I'm using a cooler?

If want cooler, disable Turbo Boost or set the CoolSense to coolest..

i download splash lite hd movie player...and the movies run smooth when i connect hdmi to philips 32 lcd full hd...
everything works fine...

only when i used kmplayer, vlc player,media player classic cinema...then problem arise again for 1080p bluray movie...

FHD screen is uncommon and supposedly have better quality compared to the average HD screen + 1-to-1 pixel mapping, no downscaling when watching 1080p movies...

You will still have the switchable function, but at least in Windows, you can manuall control which GPU is active.

Any idea on how to tweak the Beat's Audio settings to have lower bass? Most of the earphones I have plugged in the dv6 don't work too well because there seems to be an excess amount of bass output.

The "bass" setting in the Beats Audio setting page is already pulled all the way down though..

OK, I'm gonna wipe the HDD and reinstall Windows 7 because the laptop is just friggin slow with all the cr@pware installed. Can't imagine they even have a shortcut to ebay.com.my on the desktop!!! vmad.gif I've already made the recovery DVDs and copied out the SwSetup folder. Anything else I need to do before I wipe the HDD (wipe as in also delete the recovery partition sweat.gif)

@AmeiN, I got it for RM2569, told them I didn't want the dunno what free 10-in-1 stuff (cheapo mouse, DVD cleaner, blah blah blah). But I extended to 3 year 3 business days HP Care Pack for RM100 and added another 4GB RAM for RM80. So total RM2749. Bought screen protector, keyboard protector (but doesn't fit), transparent skin and battery charger organizer all for RM20 at the shop E-Power nearby.

Total damage = RM2769 sweat.gif

^ you can do minimal recovery which has all factory drivers and no bloatwares install i think.

anyway.. you can backup your activation key with 3rd party tool.

Don't bother with those, only thing I used was the screen protector which fits *almost* perfectly (about 2mm not covered on both sides). The rest does not fit (too small).

I swear I saw the model on HP Malaysia website for RM3999 and it is not Full HD but with 2GB 6770m. But I just checked and it is not there. The other new model is there for RM2899 but that comes with 6490m and no USB3.0 sweat.gif

haiz, my DV6-6001TX plays rmvb, mkv, or any other video format also have screen tearing, sigh

using media player classic btw

reinstalled FFD: cant rectify
change renderer for MPC to vmr7 or halli: cant rectify

so, any other method? search using google, cant fix the problem sad.gif

Want try my settings?
Download madVR, http://madshi.net/madVR.zip
extract it to any place, inside MPC folder if you want.
Then run install.bat.
It should give a registered successfully.
Then go to MPC, change the output to madVR.
Then play any movie,
If still got tearing.
Left click the madVR icon in system tray,
Edit madVR settings,
Go to Rendering - General Settings.
Tick "Enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode".
Restart MPC.

and try play the movie with AMD GPU, it might be heavy for Intel HD tongue.gif

There will be delay if you tick Enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode, this will make the video become the top most being render, even you right click will make the video exit the exclusive mode first only can show the context menu..

Just finished reformatting the lappie, there is 1 unknown device left after installing all the drivers from HP website. Any ideas what it is guys?

Was so busy playing games forget to update brothers over here.

I bought Battlefield 3 and playing with our DV6 ATI 6770M was a superb experience. I left the settings to default, which is mostly HIGH. Very smooth...no lag at all.

Heat was acceptable. Overall its a good experience for a laptop and playing a brand new game smile.gif

I just downloaded the ATI GPU scaling fix, but how do I enable the gpu scaling fix in ATI catalyst first? I can't seem to find it in the CCC. Any ideas?

Just run the ATi GPU Scaling Fix and choose "Scale image to full panel size" then Quit.
There is no scaling option in CCC for DV6.

Somehow, my PES 2011 has no options to set graphics settings at all.. it is like an xbox version. Jack sparrow sad.gif
