Starting a program after boot is always slow imo.. esp with our 5.4k rpm HDD. I guess your desktop is using 7.2k rpm.

2nd time is faster because windows already prefetch/cache it.

Honestly the HDD spoil the enjoicement.. if i had money to spend on SSD i'll get it right away. I'll need 250GB min which is around RM1.5k-2k. LOL.. fml.

Even after the 2nd launch, I still feel the lag when opening new empty tabs, especially when closing them. The [+] lags badly. It actually "jumps" twice, from the far end to the middle, then to the left, sticking to the nearest tab. It doesn't affect performance though, it switches back to existing tabs OK. It's just the graphics. sweat.gif

A text-graphic drawing lol:

CODE

Starting positions: [---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---][-----NEW TAB-----x][+]

Hit the X button  : [---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---]           [+]

then              : [---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---][---EXISTING TAB---] [+]

I don't use Firefox myself so i can't comment much.. maybe you can try disable hardware acceleration in Firefox to see is if there is any difference.

Link: Speed up Firefox: Disable Faulty Hardware Acceleration

p/s: When your desktop finished loaded, try to check on the HDD LED if it still blinking intensely. smile.gif

@rurushu, just to confirm,
You install this 7-zip ?
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z922-x64.msi
*
Erm... im downloading the 32-bit version from 7zip's HP, it is the .exe one. I tried both the .exe and .msi, both also to no avail, so i rolled back to .exe one cry.gif
This is the one im downloading from http://www.7-zip.org/

Try hunting SSD at garage sale.. if u lucky enogh u can it as cheap as RM500+- for 120GB/160GB. No manufacturing warranty tho since it is "direct from the factory".

I tried and phailed miserably. innocent.gif

anyway... there is driver thread that is updated regularly by Notebookreview admin, pretty neat i must say. There are few new driver for our lappy that you can't get from official HP website for examples IDT audio driver, Renesas USB 3.0 driver, Intel Chipset driver & Synaptic Touchpad driver.

If u feeling adventurous enough you can go check them all out. thumbup.gif

Does anyone know which Targus/Ogio/Other brand laptop backpack is good for the dv6?

Please give me some links!

I've been looking at Ogio Bandit, but I think it may be too big.

Create the startup using Task Scheduler,
Delete the shortcut you put on Startup folder first.

Open Task Scheduler,
On the rightmost panel, Create Task..
Give it a name, e.g. Thin Task
Tick Run with highest privileges.
Change to "Triggers" tab,
Click New,
"Begin the task" change to "At log on"
Tick "Delay task for", type "3 seconds" at the box right beside it.
Click OK
Change to "Actions" tab,
Click New,
Action "Start a program",
Browse to the bat file.
Click OK
Change to "Conditions" tab,
Untick everything
Click OK.
