Can someone please enlightened me how will you know if your phone has been prohibited from charging to 100%?? I tried google but can't seems to find the answer, perhaps wrong choice of words in search bar?

First there will be an update. There will be notification in a form of message which you cannot ignore.

Mine is updating now.

Once the update has been installed, the phone can only charge to 60%. You can increase it to 80% via Device Setup.

I just restart the phone during the update countdown.....and now it said failed to update, "please contact samsung"....

Tbh there's no alternative.. at least imo.. looking at it from s-pen's point of view and device performance.. switching back to old note 5 next week..

Anyone tried the method by ebackbone? Are you able to find the service com.wssyncmldm? I couldn't find it. Now just off wifi & data. Phone still able to charge above 60%. Don't know how long this method can last ...

Has anyone claimed a refund from YES? Have you received your money yet? If yes, may I know how long it took for you to get your money back?

Went to the YES Kiosk that I bought my Note7 from, the staff there didn't even know there was a refund process going on for the phone, aduhai. They had to dig through their forms and finally found one that's specifically for the phone, but it says the refund will be via bank transfer and could take up to 1 month.

not to say too late. there's way by rooting the phone and removing the particular update but it's way more troublesome and not so adviseable if you're not a technical IT person.

do update us if you're stuck in indonesia because of the travel ban. call up the samsung center in indonesia for your problem. they will accomodate. you are not the only person with such a situation.

yup. mine also didn't get any push OTA updates as well just like the first time they did for the 60% limit.

will get to enjoy the note 7 replacement still till then.

IMPORTANT FOR ALL THOSE WHO GOT ADVISES FROM ME ON HOW TO DISABLE THE OTA UPDATE:

DO NOT UPDATE THE APP THAT IS USED to do the process anymore cause Samsung has requested them to remove the feature that will prevent the OTA update. Whatever version that you have, just keep that version.

and from what i was told... some of the $$$ will be in credit (the advance payment) while device refund will be in cheque.

it's difficult to answer opinion because it depends on individual preferences. software wide the S7 and S7Edge nearly identical. the only difference is the edge section of the screen mostly.

suggest you go to a phone shop and experience the demo units first to have an idea.

price wise outside street price is cheaper than via telco.

is still a great phone
that s7 edge is the closest siblings you get can beside note 7 as it also have big screen + edge features

Actually I went SME to check but S7 no longer selling outside.
I don't need edge function but I'm afraid due to S7 is not selling here anymore, worry not many accessories to buy later 2~3 months down the road.

Other than the screen size, the battery size also might be a factor; 3000 vs 3600

I had the same thoughts as you, but my phone betrayed me yesterday cry.gif I probably approved the update accidentally while having my phone in my pocket at 2.30am..my battery cant charge beyond 60% anymore cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

I just decided to cancel my contract and opt for refund in the meantime downgrade my plan. I will buy a P9lite as my temporarily phone until my next phone with S-Pen launched.

Will send the phone soon I guess.

TBH, i was OT in office yesterday till late night. I have read your post along with others. I was thinking of following the sifu that pausing the updates. Since it has been 2.30am and i was ready to leave my office and no updates was send to my phone, I thought I was safe. Somehow, when I was busy closing and lock the office, I notice my phone screen were lighted (I did not activate any screen lock) and my hands were full of documents and keys and stuff thus I did not check my phone immediately. By the time I get into my car, the phone was already start installing the software update which is too late to turn it off.

feel adventurous? since it's already updated, you may as well go down the path of rooting the phone and removing the update manually if possible.

not advised that type of root cause till today, they never shared how they root aka you don't know whether there's any backdoor done in that way.

Courts really have a shitty after sales service. Called up the nearest outlet for refund, they ask me to call Courts Puchong. Ok fine, called up Courts Puchong anyway. Then, things starting to get interesting. When I mentioned about Samsung's recall and refund program, they asked whether did I received email from Courts HQ. That part made me angry because I did not receive any form of email from them, and it's not even in my spam folder! I insisted them to check thoroughly with their HQ since they mentioned I don't have any records at there. I am going to 'sweet talk' them again tomorrow as the CS at there sounded like totally no idea about the program.

after all of this frustration and burden, I will no longer purchase from Courts.

EDIT : and their hotline ain't helpful either, as I cant choose to speak with their officers other than inquire about delivery, products and promotion. doh.gif

Assuming Note 8 launch in March 2017, and a BIGGER assumed we can get an upgrade at 50% cost, here are my options:
A.
Cancel my contract with Maxis, downgrade my contract from 158 to 98 and purchase a P9lite for 5 months usage.
My cost = RM970 (P9lite) - RM60*5(savings per month) = RM670.00
@ approximately RM134.00 per month

B.
Take a replacement S7e from Maxis. Continue my contract with Maxis @ RM101 per month. Upgrade to Note 8 when available:
My cost: RM101.00*5 = RM505.00, Upgrade to Note 8 (assuming RM3199.00) @ 50% cost = RM1600.00
Additional expenses: RM1,600.00 for the new phone

The calculations based on:
You take up S7e exchange and continue your plan with Maxis then pay RM1,600.00 extras for the new phone in March 2017 and "return" your S7edge.


* "Upgrade" usually means you have to return the S7edge~~they won't let you keep the phone and sell as 2nd hand.
* Samsung livechat CS Max said there's no such offers and it is just pure rumors.

So I will go for option 1

OMG...my first impression was supposed to be processed at service centre...Maybe those that already received their refund can share to us the online transfer is received from SME or the individual retailer shop name?

I don't believe in live chat/online. Prefer face to face to do things as you get more honest answers and you can seek clarity by asking for higher up superiors to answer.

Case in point when recently clarified with Maxis telco.

6th Nov 2016 is the deadline for when you deal with Maxis telco for refund or exchange. When enquired for later or after the set date, person in charge could not answer but just say the deadline is the deadline and to do it now before that deadline.

Requested higher up to speak with. Then find out that you can go PAST the deadline set by the telcos but in doing so, that means automatically your contract is terminated with no penalties but your refunds will now be dealt with Samsung Malaysia instead which technically does not have deadline for return of the Note 7.

Received mine on the 5th day after i went for refund. I remember i went to gurney paragon on Monday night then received cheque float on thursday evening, money bank in to my account on friday.

Somehow the Maxis staff told me if I am in overseas, I can return the phone in any airport and get a letter to demand for refund in Malaysia.

Called Samsung Gurney Paragon and asked when will I receive the refund as I had returned it on Monday and still haven't received the money after 5 working days and the guy told me that they have submitted the refund forms to SME. I asked if the refund will be made by their company or SME and he said SME. So, I guess those who pre-ordered from Gurney Paragon will have to pester Samsung CS to hurry with the refund. doh.gif

Yesterday was the 14th day and Courts is still telling me to wait ... no idea exactly when refund can be made
I am helping my friend to get the refund whom I had sold the phone . He said is OK to wait for it even another 2 weeks!

Finally managed to swap my Samsung Note 7 to a Samsung S7 Edge.

No more 60% limit and worrying about going on domestic flights or overseas flights.

ALL phones have a chance for having faulty built production. which is why all the while i'm on the people are blowing things way out of proportion with the Note7 incident. just google search the modern popular phones of any brand 1 gen or 2 gen back and you'll see that there are such incidences and they are valid incidents. just that the reporting is not as fine a tooth comb as the note 7.

There's no such thing as 100% non explosive modern smartphone. just by seeing how dense it is packed nowadays to battery power ratio is already an indicator that it is much more susceptible for production failure than older gen phones.

Anyone got a refund from YES yet?

Several weeks ago, I received a call from YES stating that I will receive an email stating I could get a full refund but I have yet to receive it until today.

What's worse is that YES official stores do not have phone so you can't just call them. You have to walk into the store which is quite inconvenient. I got a number from one of the staff but the person didn't bother to pick up/return my calls or reply to my text.

Sigh.

Yea I think the majority of people here refunded the phone to get their money back, and buy another brand while waiting for next year's S8 or Note 8. A big minority here also opted to exchange their Note 7 with S7 Edge as it is the closest thing out there to our beloved Note 7.

I think it's better if you return your phone to Samsung Service Centre like some of us here did including me.. I already received Samsung's refund documents through email and have filled in and signed and sent back to them.. atleast better than waiting for YES..

I'm not sure if all samsung sc accepts but as of now Samsung SC sunway pyramid accepts (because I return it there). Just give them a call first and complaint about YES. You will need to bring your YES invoice too..

Got my refund at exactly 5 working days, talk about "on time".

Return to Samsung authorized branch though, and it is under the company instead of SME, so it may depends on the re-seller/agent/branch/company that actually sells you the Note 7.

Good luck to some of you whom haven gotten any refund yet.

I think same day as you no? I returned first and then you did right? They didn't ask for your email? In the "receipt" thing they gave you.. is your email there? Mine is there.. that's why they can send the refund documents to me..

telco can just blacklist your IMEI and not let you register to their network. that is how the stolen phone program works as well (making your stolen phone useless to the thief)

Argh... lost the receipt for my Note 7 accessories bought from Samsung store.

anyone manage to claim refund for the accessories even without receipt ? Just got the packaging and of course the part.

Want to claim $$$ for SP and Leather case.

I'm surprised the amount of people that hasn't received a replacement phone or refund yet. Does Samsung really prioritize customer's safety? IMO all the process should've been done in about a week to avoid more cases.

Some people don't have a phone to use during the replacement period, and the fact that the phone is in the consumer hands(regardless whether it's on or off) is already considered risky. Let's Not talk about luck, but by how it was banned and as a device that's categorized as a failure, it shouldn't even be on consumer's hand today for safety reason. They can just take back the phone first and refund in a week or so, so it won't put other people life at risks.

Not all SME customers has received their refund. Unfortunately, I'm one of them sad.gif This coming Monday will be exactly 14 days since I've returned the phone and yet to get my money. Will nuke them if I don't get it by then.

liar i think, i return my N7 to QBM Samsung, and receive the refund to my bank account already, money is transfer from the QBM Samsung shop, not Samsung Malaysia...

because i pre-order and collect from QBM, and the pre-order also stated paid to that shop not Samsung Malaysia...
for refund process i believe they have to claim the money back from Samsung and they are the one return money to customer not Samsung directly to customer

That's what I have been trying to tell all. The refund comes from dealer, not SME direct. So those who haven't got their refund are being delayed by your dealers.

By swapping from Samsung note 7, the warranty starts from swap date instead of Samsung note 7 purchase date.

This is good for me as I don't plan to change phone anytime soon.

Anyone still have your note 7? I would like to offer to buy it at almost the same price samsung gonna refund you, RM2850, as long as it's in tip top condition, original sme set, box and receipt.

Advantage selling to me is you dont hv to wait few days for cheque clearance etc.

Btw preferably is black note 7.

I returned my Note 7 on 21/10 at Samsung Aeon Bandaraya Melaka and asked for refund. They said will bank-in within 5 working days, but today already 11 working days but still no refund. I just called them and they said will check and call me back. Anyone requesting for refund that has experience with this outlet?

Then obviously they lied. I just called them again, and were told to wait as they said Samsung is still processing the refund. I also asked about cheque option but the person said only bank transfer, and have to wait, but this time no timeline although previously they promised within 5 working days.

I have sent an email to Samsung Malaysia through their website to ask about this and will update if I receive any reply.

For me 2800 is quite a sum; and currently dont have the phone as well as the money; meaning Samsung is owing me the money.

When somebody owe u money u want the money back as soon as possible. Not bcoz dont have money but bcoz that felow owe me money.

When you owed someone money, you need to repay the money as soon as possible. And in this case, Samsung is not a small company, they have inconvenienced a lot of their loyal customers because of the faulty phone and recalls, so they should process the refund as soon as possible and fulfil their promise.

Anyway, just an update on my situation. Yesterday after calling the outlet twice, I wrote an email to Samsung Malaysia. Not long after that, I received a call from Samsung. They apologized because of the late refund, and promised that I will be refunded latest by this Friday. Then today, I received a call form the outlet, telling me that the refund has been transferred to my account, and I should get them in 1 or 2 days.

It isn't right of Samsung to delay the the refund but at the same time @ebackbone isn't belittling you. It's good advice.

If you can't handle the absence of RM2.8k, you probably shouldn't be buying a phone that costs that much. It's called living within your means.

Totally agree. Sorry, I can be freaking rich but no, Samsung cannot just owe me money and because I'm rich, I'll allow them to take their own sweet time to refund me. Phone returned, money should be refunded asap if not on the spot. Can I tell Samsung that since they're so rich, I can collect the new phone next time and only pay them back 2 months later

I am pasting this from a facebook group where some users are trying to take action. Hopefully you, and yes i mean you, (not anyone else) will do your part in demanding for our consumer rights and not be taken on a ride by conglomerates. Stop defending them.

Currently only 16 users have done this, if all of us send in our grouses, we may be able to fight for our consumer rights and not pander to big companies. I know there are many in this forum that love to defend conglomerates to help themselves feel useful.

You may also voice out your displeasure due to the slow, problematic, run-around refund issues you are currently facing to show how little assistance we are receiving and how we, the end users, are being inconvenienced. I doubt there are many companies that would allow us to take a month to pay them after giving us the goods. So why should we have to face the same?

"Good news everybody. Now we need consent from everybody! Here are the list of request that I'll try to press on,

1) Refund for all Note 7 accessories no matter what brand they are as long as I can produce receipts for them.
2) Refund for official Samsung Screen Protector for Note 7 bought before 29th Sept.
3) Provide better compensation similar to official announce in South Korea.
4) Provide better handling of recall (now and future) such as providing loan unit if no exchange unit is available. This will serve as a case study for future recall practice for all companies.

NCCC requires the following from you,
1) Name
2) IC
3) Note 7 IMEI
4) Demands

Since I think most of us would not likely share the their IC out due to privacy concern (I do too). I would suggest that you all send an email to Daniel Jude Yap <daniel@nccc.org.my> personally. He will collectively send our demands to KPDNKK.


To make everything simple, you can use the demands I posted above and edit it to your requirement. Please include the cost and receipts of the accessories you want to claim.

But one have to look at the situation too. Right now, we have angry forummers who returned their phones but have yet to get their refunds after weeks. Couldn't blame them.

But then again, Samsung should not be held fully responsible as these forummers bought from Telcos and Reselllers and not from Samsung themselves directly.

sorry if you felt belittled but you're not seeing the larger picture.

you're being ill tempered at the cost of your sanity and health.

is being angry going to make it refund faster?

is it that Samsung wished for this scenario to happen?

is it that the person who dealt with you or "promised" you is an all knowing human being?

there are so many variables and factors in between that could delay the return. however, why want to be so ill about it?

for sake of rm3k you feel so annoyed and angry and so hard up for the money? i pity next time your family/relatives in the future, god forbid if somehow they encounter an incident that may cause you that amount of money or greater! i also pity if anyone in your life have to borrow money from you cause you're saying it is ok to remind/harass them daily for the return of the money.

take note that having said the above, i'm not saying that Samsung should take years upon years to return you the money but it's not like they're saying they're not refunding. just that many things can happen to delay it and if so, chill. such anger is not going to make it any faster wink.gif

Good seller...i think most people will just ignore the buyer and let them go through the refund process on their own d..they can actually refund right? (3rd party other than the seller?)

I think the refund is done by the shop itself, not from SME. Better go kacau the shop until they refund you. 2 weeks is too long for any sort of monetary refund

direct complaint to sme hq. i did that and after that the hq staff directly call me to speed up the procedure. mentioned will transfer to my account within 7 days (means next week). so i will see whether they fulfill their promise or not whistling.gif

Even those who do not have a bill of sale may also qualify for the South Korean company's exchange program. Those eligible for an exchange will be sent a pre-address box to return their Note7 unit. Samsung says it will take 2-4 weeks for the exchange process to complete.

When I called their HQ (Service) , they said their record show I didnt return the phone yet.... When I called the branch where I return the phone, they said they also headache on this samsung case and will follow up for me....

I just returned my set to digi@mvm, beside refund they also provide s7 n s7e if you are interested. Refund need take about 3 weeks then send chq by post.

They even took back the receipt they have me during their first recall.
I did ask for photocopy of that receipt. That's the only thing I have now..
That receipt have the imei and serial number on it.

Receipt or proof of purchase ? Yes of cause I did have the receipt and proof of purchase. What I don't have is proof of return.
Have you actually gone through the process or are you here just to enjoy the misery Note 7 buyer have to go through cause of this issue ?
FYI, for some unknown reason , retailers for SME also did not and does not want to issue us a proof of return documents even when strongly requested . That is the case for me when I returned both my phone to SME and Senheng. What I could do is just to take the picture of my box containing the Imei info and the receipt.
I have not been keeping track on this thread since I returned my note 7 but when I am still here back then , I remembered quite a number of forumers who returned their phone earlier than me and that is the case for them too. I did not see any comment on those who returned their note 7 to yes or other mobile service provider during that time.

what i meant was documenting the receipts of purchases AND the return. cause if you don't have any proof whatsoever that you've actually owned and/or even returned the product, what if the other side say you never did and refuse to refund? that'll be trouble.

As far as proper business practice is concern, you should request a Goods Return Note/Credit Note when you surrender the phone.

No worry, I dun think SenHeng will cheat on you for the refund. Just they will drag us slowly, I also haven't received my refund after I returned on 21st Oct. Call branch that I returned told me to wait for 30 days but initial told me only 2 weeks needed.

However, she said the refund will take up to 14 working days starting from today.....

Moral of the story, next time dont blardee buy from these Seng Heng, Courts, YES etc. Just blardee mafan. The rest of us received our refunds and moved on already long time ago.

Anyone returned their note 7 to Digi and opt for the refund?
I just did mine today at Digi The Gardens and switched to the Digi Postpaid 50 plan.
About 3-4 hours after the transaction, Digi sent me a message saying that I'll be charged RM200 for changing plans. WTH!

Anyone going through the same as me?

I sold it to my friend, the phone is under my name so the money they have to transfer to my bank. My friend need it ASAP to buy a smartphone that can challenge or on par with Note7 camera quality.

Been 2 weeks+ I sent the phone. Hopefully next week will get it.

I think it's just an error on the sequence of events.

I didn't get the charge and I don't think anyone is supposed to. for the Note7 case, it's a special case and there is no termination fee.

best is just call Digi CS. I'm very certain they'll be able to fix this.

You would need a receipt of the purchase, at least to be able to make a claim with Samsung. Try to get help from Maxis regarding the receipt if you dont have it.

Your unit is under Zerolution plan. Means then previous owner has a contract with Maxis for his postpaid line as well as his phone (note 7). The previous owner is paying installments for the Note 7 and technically the phone doesnt belong to him as it is not fully paid for. No wonder you are facing this issue.

have you confirmed that the device is under zerolution or paid outright? if under zerolution then definitely can't. if outright no issue as the contract is tie with the plan. not the phone

Finally received my refund last night.Not sure what causes the delay was SME requested the dealer (Samsung Gurney Paragon) to send a copy of the invoice to them after I filed a complaint through their CS chat. Most likely it was a miscommunication or carelessness on both sides but I basically waited for 2 weeks for nothing.

Timeline:
24th Oct: Returned Note 7 in exchange for refund (Samsung Gurney Paragon told me within 5 working days)
2nd Nov: Called up the store, the guy told me they had sent in the refund forms and will be settled by SME. The way he said it, it's like none of the store's problem already.
7th Nov: Still hadn't received my refund. Had a chat with a CS guy named Max. Very helpful, he asked for my IMEI & Serial Number and escalated my problem to his higher up. Later that night, received a call from the store asking about my refund problem and told him about the situation and asked about the status of my refund. He said hedl get back to me.
9th Nov: Went to the store (after watching Dr. Strange biggrin.gif ) to ask about the refund status. A guy, who I supposed is the store manager, asked for my name and checked in his list*. He told me SME requested additional documents from them (last minute request or not, I don't know) hence the delay and SME has issued the cheque the day before. Told me to wait for clearance by end of this week or early next week. *there were a few names in his list besides mine.
11th Nov: Received the refund at full amount.

Hang on... Maxis (which I have blacklisted...) knows the details of the owner, right?

You also hv the "receipt"...any info to convince them to let you hv the owner contact details...?

So, just request permission to let you AT LEAST have his contact detail (eg mobile number, email, fax, home address, etc.). I'm aware Maxis can't dispose these info to stranger, but you have the rights as you have the "receipt" from the original owner.

I'm pretty sure the "receipt" is the only key to solve your issue... Look carefully what is in the "receipt". Sure got the original owner's contact details.

Same here, i received the text charged RM200 on that day after returned my note7, but i ignored the msg n my line was barred today zzz....i changed to plan 80.
Spent over 1 hour to get somebody answer my calls (1800) temporary unbar and still need to call back center if c the penalty on next bill.

That's surely a weird "receipt"... Something like buying grocery shopping receipt... That's why I've blacklisted Maxis...unprofessional service...

Well, if everything fails, your last resort "could be":
e-Tribunal

But by right, Sammy is the one should help you because Sammy MUST collect back all Note7 due to "safety". So, by logic, no matter what reasons, Sammy MUST accept the device from anyone, even though you steal it...(just my extreme hypothesis...)

a bad idea from me. not sure works or not tongue.gif . go to the samsung service center and mentioned friend bought for you. no receipt as friend lost it or other reason. friend won't be coming back to malaysia that soon.. since you say the receipt no show the phone is tie to any plan.. no need show receipt or mentioned from maxis lor laugh.gif if your phone is samsung genuine one. no problem i guess. no need bother with the maxis as maxis sure tell you under contract

ya, that's what i thought so too, but sam just say they cant do anything, i am not sure i went to the wrong service center or what. i call a lot of time they only say they cannot do anything same shit all over. i guess i am stuck with this time boom.

Not to say bad, but this is Samsung mistake, they even mentioned in their website that without receipt also can refund. Basically they can refund every single unit. Yes, i don't want buta buta lost few thousands ringgit! Haha! biggrin.gif

My sister set return on 12 Sep on 1st recall and after that collect again and pass back to yes, coz we instead refund on 1st recall and Samsung agree on that.. Until today not received refund.. ! -! 2 month plus ago..

Digi refund me back RM3936.71
Meaning that digi only take 1 month bill payment out of 3 months

Submitted for refund on 22.10.2016. Today called Helpline to follow up. Told that chq is ready and only will send out this week. If not received by 24.11.2016, do call them again.

End of October send two units to service centre
Last week Monday HQ called me and ask me go service centre sign the refund document
When I'm there, I saw only one refund document, then I asked the staff there where's another one, he says: another still pending approval. At the moment I ask him: do u think that I'm so free to come for twice

3 days ago, service centre called me and inform me another unit is approved and asked me go there again to sign the refund document. So I went there again yesterday and they took15 minutes to print out the document upon my arrival (there's one piece of paper only, and they need 15 minutes

Already one week since last Tuesday (first unit), but I haven't receive my refund

Due to the exchange and refund issue, lots of time have been wasted and as well as money (petrol expenses to travel here and there)

hello noob question here
1. anyone here or anywhere else report that they manage to use the note 7 without exploding? (e.g: maintaining the battery low before/after 60% update)

2. what about using third party battery? will it work? quick charging or high capacity battery imo can be omitted if the case it wont explode in my face even if it means voiding the warranty

because, nevertheless its a pretty great phone apart from the exploding feature

Not true. Samsung wouldn't risk anymore setbacks with the Note 7. Apparently they will not allow the returned units back into the market anymore. There will not be any Note7S anymore as Samsung has already discountinued the production line of the Note 7.

got my cheque from digi in 8 business day after i've returned the phone which is not quick by my standards but acceptable.

no compensation for me. in fact it is about 100 ringgit less than the total of what i've paid online. quite disappointing. it's as though i paid for the freebies that i don't even use.

Samsung really went all out on promotion / marketing of note 7.. But too bad the explosion thingy spoiled everything..
