QUOTE Note 7 will be banned from all mobile networks in New Zealandhttp://www.androidauthority.com/note-7-wil...zealand-726749/That’s why in New Zealand, Samsung and its telecom partners decided to take a different approach. On November 18th, all Galaxy Note 7 devices that are still in use around the country will be disconnected from all mobile networks. This means that they won’t be able to make or receive calls, send texts, and connect online using mobile data. They will, however, still be able to access the internet with a Wi-Fi connection.

QUOTE(besties4eva @ Nov 11 2016, 10:01 PM) Hi, Anyone returned their note 7 to Digi and opt for the refund? I just did mine today at Digi The Gardens and switched to the Digi Postpaid 50 plan. About 3-4 hours after the transaction, Digi sent me a message saying that I'll be charged RM200 for changing plans. WTH! Anyone going through the same as me? I think it's just an error on the sequence of events. I didn't get the charge and I don't think anyone is supposed to. for the Note7 case, it's a special case and there is no termination fee. best is just call Digi CS. I'm very certain they'll be able to fix this. hope that helps... let us know la how it goes after you call them. This post has been edited by mydragoon: Nov 12 2016, 03:29 PM

QUOTE(Honeybun22 @ Nov 24 2016, 05:52 PM) Update: Received the Chq from Digi on 22nd Nov 16, with the amount RM2794.29. Not the full amount of purchase Note7. Also got a penalty charge RM200 from bill. do check your statement... at first, i also got shocked... but later when i look carefully at the bill, there's actually an "adjustment" to reverse the rm200.

it's a bit concerning that till today, there's no news about root cause.
taking a bit long, no?
or maybe they are focused on other things -- like the current Korea presidential scandal that somehow also dragged Samsung...

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 28 2016, 02:27 PM) I dont think Samsung is to keen to expose the cause but rather play low profile and concentrate on developing the next big thing. Samsung to announce probe results of fire-prone Galaxy Note 7 within the yearhttp://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20161129001011i feel 1 year is too long... especially if they plan to re-use same design for s8... unless they wanna do sth diff for s8... which might introduce a diff problem... hmmm...

QUOTE(jrrsim @ Nov 30 2016, 04:31 PM) they actually mentioned "within the year", not "within A year". If their English is up to par, I sure hope that means by the end of this year (31 Dec 2016) and not 1 year from now. true... but from what i gather based on the article... dun think it's like within this year aka 2016. still... they have 1 more month.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Dec 1 2016, 01:37 PM) From the way I see it, I dont think Samsung is to keen to reveal the cause of the disaster for the Note 7. they may be legally required since it was a major thing... not too sure. anyway, see what happens over the next few weeks (or year).

QUOTE Samsung is basically making the Note 7 unusable in Canadahttp://www.theverge.com/2016/12/7/13876968...ess-connections...Samsung plans to make the Note 7 effectively unusable in Canada from next week forward. The phone will still turn on, but it won’t be able to connect to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any cellular networks. So if you were planning to do anything like browse the internet or even make a phone call on the device, you’re going to be out of luck in the very near future. ..It’s not clear if Note 7 owners will be able to avoid this by dodging an update, or if Samsung can simply push the change out to any active phones.... don't worry... #1. it's canada. no one's heard of Malaysia. so won't happen to Malaysia #2. i'm sure there will be some ways to avoid this. Malaysians are good at finding loopholes. so... no issue. /sarcasm This post has been edited by mydragoon: Dec 8 2016, 08:28 AM

QUOTE Samsung may permanently disable Galaxy Note 7 phones in the US as soon as next weekhttp://www.theverge.com/2016/12/8/13892400...rging-us-updateSamsung appears to be planning to permanently disable Galaxy Note 7 units in the US with an update that would prevent the recalled phone from charging. According to an image obtained by The Verge, an alert went out to at least one Note 7 owner on US Cellular today stating that, “As of December 15th, Samsung will modify the software to prevent the Galaxy Note 7 from charging. The phone will no longer work.” again... thankfully this is Malaysia. we are safe. and we know hacks that will prevent updates. /sarcasm

QUOTE Sayonara: T-Mobile pushes the killswitch update for the Galaxy Note 7http://phandroid.com/2016/12/27/galaxy-not...ile-killswitch/In the beginning of December, Samsung announced it would be releasing a final update to owners of the Galaxy Note 7 which would completely disable the device. The update prevents the Note 7 from being able to charge at all, compared to being able to charge to 60% as the devices are limited to now. T-Mobile is the first carrier to push this update to the Galaxy Note 7 and will begin issuing the update, today. The update does nothing more but limit the charging capabilities, but before then, the device will send you on-screen prompts about what steps you can take to get the device replaced. It’s no secret that Samsung is definitely ready to put the Note 7 to bed, and even though 93% of owners have already replaced the would-be 2016 phone of the year, there are still some that are holding onto the device. T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T have already announced their plans to release the update, but it seems Verizon is still holding fast on preventing the update from being released. well, i'm sure we got heroes here who have found ways to prevent updates, etc... and will only stop using when they have Note8 in their hands...

i think many already know Samsung now expected to reveal cause of the Note7 going kaboom sometime this month.
originally, they were supposed to announced last month (Dec).
anyway, if it turns out that it was because of the small space (not enough room for battery to expand), then... smaller battery might have solved the problem? i think back in the earlier threads, some did talk abt this and asked if you guys willing to get the Note7 if it came with smaller battery... maybe 200mAH less or sth...
from the rumours... unlikely it's due to the battery itself -- as in, the battery manufacturer (another Samsung division) might actually have been innocent.

QUOTE(Velocity @ Jan 2 2017, 09:42 AM) i only will pay so much for a note series or their galaxy S but not another version. If u compare with current phones their low and mid ends give u sux spec and build quality. A series is actually quite decent. but yes, they are no where near the S series -- camera sensor not as good, no wireless charging (this one reserved for Note and S series only -- but not sure if this will change in 2018). the new A series will be getting IP68 though... which is good. A7, which comes with 5.7", is about... rm1.8k... or sth like that. but frankly, pay rm200-300 more... can get a OnePlus 3T with 128GB (if buy direct from OnePlus). there will finally be a closure for Note7 owners... Samsung expected to make official announcement on the findings next week... however, if you can't wait, seems the report got leaked liao... Supposed Galaxy Note 7 autopsy leaked out a week earlyhttp://pocketnow.com/2017/01/16/galaxy-note-7-autopsy-leaked...Well, as it may turn out, design engineering firm Instrumental nailed at least one of the causes: too few tolerances were built into the internal design to let the battery expand. Worse yet, software that was supposed to shut off power to the phone when thermal runaway was detected did not work......the Galaxy Note 7 packed too many features like the S Pen and a power-intensive iris scanner into a phone with a design that couldn’t effectively radiate heat out from the battery...and oh... genjo
