Hi guys,

Just want to clarify on this.

To activate that 10%, I can spend on any category as long as I spend minimum 10 transactions at RM 50 minimum right?

BUT that 10% is only applicable to the category I've selected.

Example, I pick dining category. I spend RM50 x 10 transactions on petrol although I did not picked petrol. But I still spend RM300 on dining.

So based on the calculation = RM30 cashback?

nope, 10 X spending is based on any category. But 10% cash back will based on your selected category + bonus category once 10 X spending fullfill.

Hi Like a Bause and MGM,

Thanks for the reply.

There is no cash back for my friend on the transaction I posted just now. My friend called HL CS, they said the 10 swipe must spend on "cash back categories", that's mean if one of 10 swipe is TM Net, you are not entitled for CB.

I'm very confusing on this........

unless you found any supermarkets/departmental stores provide the tng reload service, plus you chose groceries/departmental as one of your categories. at this moment, no 10% for tng reload.

also, if you try to top up your tng at petrol stations with hlb wise, it won't count as petrol so no 10%.

For HLB WISE cards, best is to swipe based on your chosen categories. I have 3 cards now, 1 WISE and MBB dual cards. WISE for my selected(groceries, petrol, mobile) while MBB for other transactions(TM net, TNB, dining). I'm spending rm2000 for both of these cards a month where 50% are helping relatives.

Assuming I already have 10x transactions >RM50 for this month. Will I also get rebates for other transactions (within the selected categories) which are <RM50?

No chance to waive annual fees at all?

Looks like then this isn't a good backup card, has to be the main (for me anyways) to ensure that the annual fee is worth the cash back.

You can pay your celcom, digi or maxis via payonline.uob.com.my to get the 10% rebate. However, Telekom home fixed line are NOT under Mobile, no rebate for that.

i think more important is to get af waiver.
doesn't really mind the gst because easily can be covered by the cb we earned using the wise cc.
just like the gst for mbb2cards can be easily covered by the points earned from mbb2amex.

Guys,
Just to ask, I have mistakenly made double CC payment (RM1.2k 2x) to HL for the month of Feb. I always pay in full every month.
The problem is the extra payment is suppose to pay for UOB CC (almost same amount).
I call the CS but during the CS on hold to check about it the call was disconect- damm the CS they never call back to me.
Its possible to get back the money.

Highly unlikely.
Even if it is possible, it may take some time to refund and you are about to pay the next month statement already. Might as well keep it as credit for your current month charges.

this happened to my wife's cc too. she paid from m2u to her ocbc instead of her hlb. but because she already cancelled her ocbc earlier so ocbc refunded to her mbb within 3 days. and since it's her first time, hlb removed the retail interest and late charges from her account.

If you want to qualify for the CB the answer is YES.
If you don't bother to earn the CB, there is no minimum spending.

To manipulate the RM50 per transaction, the easiest way is online mobile bill payment, petrol and grocery.

Neither. It will be considered as a transaction in March and therefore cash back will be reflected on 28th April.

I won't comment on the complicated part, but I fully agree that AEON's price is not the cheapest.

Some items are priced even higher than its counterparts in Borneo doh.gif

Sure, why not ? But instead of rm50, make it rm100 x10.
You can also "outsource" the payment of the remaining bal of rm1k to any Wise card holder who have difficulty achieving the 10x rm50 transactions for 5% CB each sharing.

Just wonder.

Let just say I have an electricity bill caused me RM150.

Can I use Wise and pay it RM50 each for the transaction?

If yes, does it counted as 3 transaction for me to activate the cash back? (10 transactions).

You need your pin to perform cash advance at atm. I'm not sure if wise card could be used at atm to activate online banking or not.

when u receive your CC, your mobile already in their system to receive TAC...
unless you want to change mobile number, then u need to change it via ATM.

else, nothing need to be done for mobile TAC.

when u make online payment, those 6 digits code is mobile TAC, I believe most of us have experience, we no need to register mobile number again via ATM, but we can receive TAC when do online transactions.

i just register hlb online back in february. you only need to key in your cc card number & TAC that sent to your number (i believe it's automatically registered when they approve your card). Thus, applying HLB online is the easiest online banking website i have experience so far...no need to visit ATM or branch etc.

If they do like this, the card should called "STUPID" and not "WISE".
If you spend rm1000 every month, the bank actually are losing money, since they only charge merchant 1-3%.
If the they really increase the rebet say rm200 a month, I'll be making rm100 from it every month.

not stupid, should be "more wise". its a marketing gimmick. You are like implying HLB stupid for giving 10% rebate while other only giving 5%. By the way, if you work with banks, banks dont earn their profit from the 2% or 3% of merchant charges. Those are just merely handling charges. Do remember, once you apply this new HLB card, they give you waiver of GST and free tower fan. So you are thinking they recover from the merchant charges only? No way. Their big chunks of profit is from the 18% pa late payment penalty. They dont issue card just they way you stated above. I surprise to see this reply nowaday.

"3. How do I earn the 10% cash back?
Just swipe a minimum of any 10 retail transactions monthly (minimum of RM50 per transaction) to activate the 10% cash back on your selected cash back categories."

I don't think I can swipe 10 times per month.. Not wise for me to apply eh?

Has anyone experienced fraudulent charges to his Wise card? I had it yesterday, received SMS at 14.49hr saying my Card was debited RM200 at Petrol Station (at my regular kiosk).

First i thought it could be some late SMS for my last transaction. My last usage was 21.3.2014 as I had achieved my target Cash Rebate RM100 for the month. So the card was in my drawer since then.

But when i called up the CS at 1930 hr, i was shocked to know that my card was 'used' at that kiosk yesterday. How much the amount she doesnt know as need a few days to see in on screen.

Now all the hassle, cancel the card and get new replacement, sigh.......hopefully no charges to me, no new GST no AF and cancel the fraudulent charges..

so watch out guys, the SMS alert is not to be taken lightly!

1) did you use your cc at the cashier or at the pump?
2) do anyone in your house has the access to your drawer?

Wow! Sounds like a duplicated card. Pls check your past transactions if any of the charges you made, the card was taken out of your sigh ? Eg. Paying a restaurant bill ?

i received such msg as well. but i believe this is not a fraudulent charges. u try to trace back which station that has been charged on the SMS and you trace back again to your online statement (those posted transactions). you should be able to check back on the same station that has been charged way before you received the SMS. IMO this must be caused by the major system maintenance that occurred recently and those sms that were not sent out, have been sent out ALL now ~ blink.gif doh.gif

if yours is not the same as my case, u should report and do the necessary to cancel the transaction.

but you will have to plan properly especially when close to 28th of the month (it may not be captured in the same month due to longer posting date).

Usually I'll hit the target 5 days before.
Some shops post late and I don't want to waste time argue with HLB on the rebets.

If you still are in possession of your card, and the transaction is not an online transaction (card not present), then its some sort of late sms or other error. Chip based credit cards are not clone-able, and malaysia uses chip transaction now, not the swiping one. Visa and Mastercard are seeing an all time low number of fraudulent transaction after starting using chip cards.

the card was with me all the time , locked in my drawer , no one could access it. Never out of my sight all the time when swiped at Grocery and kiosk at pump only.

Actually that was what i thought also, a mistake in SMS. But the silly HL system showed that card was swiped and RM200 withheld for petrol that day. But till now there is no charges on online checking. Likely to be a system mistake, but the CS already cancelled off my card, SOP she said, now waiting for replacement, what a hassle if there is really no fraud.

Why the HL system so silly could not even tell transaction done or not done on that day? Mistake on SMS not enough, mistake into the system showing transaction on the day i did not even use that card!

If MBB Amex is using the same HLB system, it will be disaster. Amex card is prone to online fraudulent transaction but luckily their CS can see the actual transactions in real time. They also can see the attempted but failed transactions.
I'm puzzled why HLB CS can't see it in real time because their system must meet some required security capability and audited and approved by the relevant authority.

I think you confuse with the date, that date from what I understand is just the cash rebate date.

From the FAQs, the monthly transactions from what I understand is from 1st till last day of the month (based on posting date)

3. How do I earn the 10% cash back?
Just swipe a minimum of any 10 retail transactions monthly (minimum of RM50 per transaction) to activate the 10% cash back on your selected cash back categories.

9. When will the cash back be credited into Principal Cardholder's account?
The cash back will be calculated at the end of each calendar month and will be credited to the principal Cardholder's account on the 28th of the following month. Cardholder will see this reflected in their statement then.
Eg.
May-2013 transactions will get the 10% rebate on 28-June-2013
June-2013 transactions will get the 10% rebate on 28-July-2013
July-2013 transactions will get the 10% rebate on 28-Aug-2013

But then I don't have a Wise card to confirm. So perhaps others can help confirm on this.

Yes, as long as your transaction posted by the last day of the calendar month, it is counted toward that month's CB.
Not sure what categories you have chosen. For me, most of the hypermarts I visited (Tesco, Giant, AEON Big) take 2 days to be posted; Shell petrol station also take 2 days to posted; Maxis online take 3 days to be posted.
But one Tesco swipe took 5 weeks to be posted! Mess up my CB calculation of the 2 months. mad.gif

*
To make it simple :
cash back rebet from previous month will bank in on 28th each month
Cash back entitlement are calculated based on 1-31(or 28,29,30) that month

I bumped into this HL cc roadshow, the sales girl told me now HL offer Wise + GSC card as combo and GST & Annual Fee will be charged to Wise card only while GSC is free for life. But both card will get seperate Credit Limit. How true is that? Im not quite convinced with that.

She said this offer only if sign up as combo, if apply seperately will get seperate GST & AF.

Anyone please help clarify???

Thanks fly126 for pointing out. I saw this from Hong Leong website too but Wise card wasnt mentioned in the combo.

For Wise card, benefits for Gold & Plat has no different. What about GSC gold vs plat? I think the only diff is the one-time Bonus Value of RM60 vs RMM100 right?

The Difference Maybe just the Credit Limit You will get Higher CL on Platinum & Annual Fee (Gold Card- $150 / Platinum- $300), $60 OR $100 worth of Bonus Value + Personal Travel Insurance Coverage http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/cc/Insurance_program.pdf

My auntie's classic HSBC's credit limit are rm150k while my Platinum Master from Maybank is rm15k.
Does the card show anything? Nothing actually, but if just want to fullfill your lust on "high" standard card, go for it.

Why are you surprised? Honestly some people really care about the type of cards they received, but in reality, its the benefits that matters. I once got my HSBC classic card up to 20K as well.

I never surprised. A credit card is a credit card. When fraud case happens, it is still a fraud case, only classic card those jerks know that the limit are low and don't swipe a lot. But those platinum they dare to swipe expensive stuffs.
I had this fraud case before, so I request for lower credit limit.

Nope, I applied for gold only and they gave me platinum. But then what special benefit I have? Is still same as normal gold and classic.

This will be very tricky.
No 100% you can make it.
Next time within first 2 weeks try to make up 10 transactions first.

I just reach 1 year of usage, GST sure have to pay, but annual fee not stated in my statement yet.
Even you need to pay rm210 for WISE, as long as you can get back rm100 every month, you are still getting about 8.25% of cash back, which is still better than other cards.

I thought normally house with 2-3 aircon will easily get bil of rm200+ per month already. So for me better choose utilities that need to pay every month. Groceries we can have many place to get like mini market and wet market that can't use card to pay.

I thought normally house with 2-3 aircon will easily get bil of rm200+ per month already. So for me better choose utilities that need to pay every month. Groceries we can have many place to get like mini market and wet market that can't use card to pay.

As you said, it's depend and different for everyone.

yes, for your case, utility is surely the best category for you.
the best for a small family (with big expenses) is to have 2 hlb wise (husband and wife) with one choosing utility and dining, while the spouse choose petrol and grocery. thumbup.gif

now these 3 reasons are my main reasons why HLB Wise is not suitable for me sweat.gif

as victorywp mentioned above, choose the card/category that benefits you and meets your spending pattern.

Unifi does not fall under Mobile or Utilities category at all. The only wasted usage is to pay uUnifi in order to hit 3X RM50 transactions (e.g VIP5 @ RM149).

Best reward is to pay Unifi using mbb2card amex during weekend. VIP5 plan at least give you around RM7.50 in 5% cashback.

if one do spend a decent amount each month, HLB Wise + Mbb2card AMEX is a killer best combo. sweat.gif

by right 99 speedmart should be considered as grocery because hero hypermart or econsave also considered as grocery.
anyway, i think you can help to confirm this by buying some small items with your hlb wise and check your statement.

agree, watami's RM3K min spending per quarter is realistic and achievable, even for low spender. if you can hit min RM1K/mth on mbb2card amex, definitely you can easily hit RM3K/quarter with watami liao thumbup.gif

The card are issued based on your income. Like my income can entitle for platinum(>rm75000) card, I only got rm15000 for my MBB platinum and rm10000 for WISE.

I've ask before, you can't terminate one card only as it's come as combo. Either keep both or terminate both only.

If you do so, your card account is still active and those annual fee and gst will still charge on you. Not a solution.

It will appear in your online transactions, not your last statement. Try checking online and you will see the amount of rebate you're getting for the past calendar month (February). However, you can only see which category each transaction belongs to in your paper statement smile.gif

Hong Leong screwed up my Connect account. Pretty sure their recent system upgrades reset my password AND my pin number so I can't reset the account myself. Had to request for them to send another pin to me.

Anyway found this weird. Has anyone been to Nutmeg cafe in Bangsar? I can't for the world fathom how it isn't categorised under dining. The only MCC code that dining isn't applicable to would me for drinking places. It doesn't serve alcohol as far as I know so its not a drinking place. I called hong Leong and they told me they are unable to check what the MCC code is for this place. Even Starbucks is listed under dining!

we cannot identify merchant MCC until transaction done because some merchant registered not same as their biz.

my experience thai fish farm restaurant also not under dining!
but 90% eating places is under dining but not drinking places.

Well, it is depend greatly on how they register, nothing can be done on this, just have to spend "wisely" shocking.gif

You can export it as Excel file, but still the same, the number are not number, as they put a mark there. At the end, still have to use calculator to calculate. WISE card that created by some stupid fellows doh.gif

Nutmeg DO serve wine. It's frustrating when you do not know the MCC code. It happened to me many times. Now I avoid using (in my case MACH card) at any restaurant that offers alcohol. Recently I got caught at Good Batch @ Uptown and Jocks @ Dataran Prima.

Oh well. Didn't strike me as a place that serves wine. But still, it's most definitely not a drinking place. The main draw are desserts and food!

I've been to places where alcohol is served and its still classified under dining. El Cerdo is one such place. La Risata too, and I'm sure there are many others. So yeah, it's annoying when you don't know what the MCC code is. Fuzio is one where they serve alcohol but doesn't exactly look like a drinking hole, but it's not under dining. For such borderline cases I don't really mind if its not under dining. It's just that Nutmeg is perplexing, how it can be under drinking place, which I would think would be reserved for bars and pubs.

Can you read the bill ? It's clearly written on the top part and bottom part lah. doh.gif doh.gif
Clue : NO. BIL

The new bill doesn't clearly show the Bill No. anymore.
It's part of the barcode number (bottom part)
<14-digit Account Number><8-digit Bill Number><11-digit Amount Owed>

most maxis postpaid with phone contract usually >RM100 or around RM150, so you already get 2X/3X RM50 liao. thumbup.gif

Hi All,

wanna ask or the mobile category, if my maxis bill is RM200 monthly, can I split it to 4 x RM50 to pay? all 4 transaction is to pay the same invoice/bill. will this be counted as 4 transaction already?

Also,

has anyone tried to use this card at Amway shop and get the 10% discount? if yes this falls under which category? is it retail shopping?

Why not using back bank itself of their online banking for more secure transactions and trust-able services?

Don't know why you guys want to be a cheapskate.
First, Aeon stuffs never been cheap most of the time. Like Top detergent if Aeon selling cheapest at rm10.99 with WISE CB that's rm9.89. But when buy at Tesco, Giant, Aeonbig at rm9.99, after CB is rm8.99.
Do the maths on this.

the cycle based on monthly right? so the 10 times, is depending on the posting date right?

we jus need ten transaction at the month and followed by posting date right?

if we use on 30march, den posting date is at 2april it's consider as april billing cycle right? for entitle us to get 10% discount?

in conclusion, the 10times transaction is depending on rm50 spend on the posting date as in our statement right?

just make sure to have at least more than 10 about 11 or 12 so u can avoid situations like this when the posting date could fall on the next month and if you have 9 then no rebate for you

Applied WISE & GSC combo during Big Bad Wolf roadshow on 30th Mar and they sent credit card via pos laju on 9th Apr. Total 10 days for processing and approval, not bad!

However, today only I went to collect my card from pos laju as I was outstation. To my dismay, I insisted on WISE Gold and even made sure to tick the WISE Gold my own but they still sent me Plat. I think they will give according to income, regardless of what you want.

Anyone request to change from Plat to Gold before? Any chance??

That's the problem being an OKU, no offence but when you are lazy and apply it outside of a branch, you are opening your back door for fraud case.
Put some sense of security next time notworthy.gif
Some of these agents sometimes will duplicate your details and sell it to others and for your case, they change it from gold to platinum shocking.gif
Worst case, after donkey years suddenly CIMB send you a letter demanding rm100k for CC spending rclxub.gif
Also, dealing with CC application, we must LC a bit, no need to provide all the required documents as they will still check those CTOS, CRISS. Let them do some work as they are earning commission hmm.gif

hi all,

went to HLB to apply for this wise card and i was told i need to provide IC, salary payslip and (bank statement, EA Form, EPF statement - either one).

So can i confirm if these are the mandatory documents required? I'm just trying to be cautious not to send too many personal info.

thanks.

ocbc is a good backup when your watami card is maxed but then again you won't probably spent 5k that much probably once in a blue moon, i'll probably cut it too when the anniversary date is near nod.gif

yeah, only once a blue moon will need to spend more than rm7k per month.
bcs if i max out my 3 active cc means rm1k (hlb wise) + rm5k (aeon watami) + rm1k (mbb2amex) = rm7k per month already.

I know u are LC by nature, that's ur problem but what makes u think I give ALL, which I'm not sure what u mean by all documents. U r funny to judge ppl by assuming.

They put my case under investigation and will get back to me in 2 - 3 days time. They said according to the system, I applied for platinum. I said no way, their SA should have changed my application. I asked to retrieve my application form.

I only give my crossed photostat ic and form BE. Nothing else. Btw, i think u from penang too right? Just FYI, the branch that process my application was the pulau tikus branch opposite of church.

Have to see your monthly total spending. If you can make it full rm2000, sure WISE and MBB dual cards. They offer the best rate with least T&C.
If above rm2000, UOB will be the next card.

What I usually do is, ask them for a photocopy after signing the form, it is even better if you can ask them to photocopy together with their name card.

monthly spending around RM2000, but sometimes i help ppl swipe to earn some cash back as well tongue.gif
Wise will be my primary for petrol, mobile and dining
for MBB dual cards, most of the merchants do not accept amex, and the mastercard seems no much usage.

When doing renovation, I use cash. As most of the time those ID or renovator that accepting CC charge higher than normal.
A rm1000 job they over charge you for rm3000, get back rm30 also can't offset another rm1970 lost sweat.gif
If you insist on what to get slaughter, OCBC's 1% unlimited will be good for you.

I see, then still OCBC for your case, unless you want to shop at SenQ(or other higher price shop) which should be accepting AMEX. Those smaller shops I think they don't accept AMEX.
You need to have strategies on getting max cash back from this. As most appliances sure cost > rm1000.

Statement amount are based on posting date, cash back are based on transaction month.
Better change the cutoff date to end of month, easier to keep track.
Because last time I confuse on this 2, I missed the maximum cash back.
My cutoff date are end of month. Just say, I did a rm 100 transaction on 24th last month, the merchant only post it on 31th(which over the cut off date) which I hit the rm1000 on this last transaction. It won't appear on current statement, instead it will shown on next month's. So for last month's statement, I pay lesser at rm800(rm1000-100cash back-missed transaction rm100) but next month's statement come, I'll pay more at rm1000(rm1000-100CB+missed transaction).

Not listed. Even if it is listed, it's not wise to charge big ticket item (above RM600) in one transaction using Wise card. You wouldn't get the effective 10% CB due to 10 x RM50 transactions requirement.
Save the big ticket item for MBB2Amex, Watami, OCBC Ti.

Should be able to do so, but your cash back may be affected. At least OCBC last time when i change the date I do lose out some.
But WISE's cash back are calculated base on transaction date, so should not affected.
