i think fruitie should just drop RM 1k to get Tamron 17-50 non-VC since.....
1. she lack funds 2. she doesn't have 18-55 range 3. she's aware of the Tammy and already is under the buying list. |

UWA = ultra wide angle.
i also like to call it UWA is cos when people who haven't used it before will say "uuuuuwwwaaaaaaa!!!" such lenses usually go from 10 to 24 range for APS-C body. eg Canon EF-S 10-22 for Full Frame body, their UWA are like EF 17-40L / EF 16-35L. the EF 17-40L / EF 16-35L on APS-C body works like short zoom range. The EF-S 10-22 cannot be used on Full Frame bodies since they only accept EF lenses, not EF-S lenses. the APS-C body on the other hand accepts both EF and EF-S lenses. *sure got more questions to come. LOL. i let others answer, now i go play game! Added on June 7, 2010, 1:32 amtook this in AFC Studio, Singapore using my Sigma 10-20 UWA....... i think the fella dying liao, or maybe the HSM dying. ![]() |

QUOTE(deodorant @ Jun 6 2010, 11:15 PM) hmmmm my 580ex-ii is malfunctioning. or maybe it's the contact point on the camera body, don't know which one. But randomly ETTL will turn off by itself and flash full power - then the flashgun LCD will say TTL (no E) and I can't access the flash menu in the camera (it will say incompatible flash). Any ideas? I do encounter this occasionally. Normal among 580EXII users. I had emailed Canon about this and Canon tells me to clean the contact often. That's all. |

I've got a question to ask :
Anyone know physical shops in Subang/KL area that have ready stocks of sigma 50 f1.4 and sigma 30 f1.4? I wanna try them out n buy. Besides that, does sigma official warranty covers internationally? Grey set's price is tempting compare to local set. |

Ur missing the point. Ppl like the 35L is coz it's wide. But on ur crop body it's not wide anymore. Put on crop oredi is 56mm. The specialty of having 35L is lost then. The 24L will have that 35 look on ur cropper. |

One more thing, the zoom feeling on the Tamron VC version is too stiff compared to the really orgasmic zoom feeling on the non-VC version. One more reason that I chose the non-VC version after considering budget.

That's y I say get the 24L coz there's no cheap alternative to a 24mm f1.4 lens. Anyway, if uve tried n like the 35L by all means get it. As I always say, BUY BUY BUY! |

QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 7 2010, 02:56 AM) yea I always wanted to go, but the thought of lugging few rice bags there made me ponder twice. Is there any lens that they don't calibrate? e.g those really ancient and discontinued ones due to they afraid they don't have spare parts should they screwed my lens during calibration? Lens such as EF 50mm f/1.8 cannot be calibrated because it does not contain the electronics to accommodate calibration data. When I sent in my lens, none of the lens are calibrated, only my camera. Lens are only calibrated when they out of specification, which hardly occur. |

QUOTE(-vip3rleon9- @ Jun 7 2010, 10:00 AM) Be prepared to wait for a week or two. Mine's been in for a week and it's still not done. Yea, that's the thing. I hate the waiting part. But unless you go pinjam Uncle Ian's CPS, then should be much faster la. But with your arsenal.. err.. QUOTE(MingKAI @ Jun 7 2010, 10:12 AM) 1.1k of course used la I'll suggest 10-22 over 11-16 too for it's versatile range. P/S: Seems like many ppl recommend 10-22 over 11-16.. QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 7 2010, 10:18 AM) Aiyooooooo, u think he dont have CPS ka? QUOTE(d_lai_309 @ Jun 7 2010, 10:38 AM) so what do you guys think about the 35L? thinking to get it for low light usage. 35L is a sick glass. Razor sharp and the range on a cropped sensor body is aweeeeesome. also wanted to calibrate my 24-70 with the body cause micro adjustment just manage to get some focal length sharp. QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 7 2010, 10:47 AM) 35L on crop not nice oredi. The special thing about 35L is the wide look with big aperture. What u need is 24L if u want the wide look. Don't poison people too hard la. LoL. 24L can kill people straight. QUOTE(d_lai_309 @ Jun 7 2010, 10:53 AM) dont need wide prime yet cause got tokky 116, i need a lens to bring out at night for snap shot. maybe 24mm is too wide for snap shot or so... If you are looking for night walkabout lens, you won't go wrong with 24L Mark II. This is one of my favorite among my 16 lenses. Love the sharpness. Simply beautiful! QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jun 7 2010, 11:04 AM) You better book them for a week if you are going to bring your entire arsenal there...hahahahaaha I afraid one week isn't enough. isk. QUOTE(Chiet @ Jun 7 2010, 11:04 AM) One more thing, the zoom feeling on the Tamron VC version is too stiff compared to the really orgasmic zoom feeling on the non-VC version. One more reason that I chose the non-VC version after considering budget. After several ins and outs, it'll not be that stiff. QUOTE(d_lai_309 @ Jun 7 2010, 11:06 AM) well, 50mm+ is good for standard focal length, am i right? 50 f1.2 L or The Mighty One(50mm f1.0 L) on a cropped sensor body is a little too long, at least for me. QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 7 2010, 11:31 AM) Seems a waste lor. Buying a 35L n then getting the standard lens look that so many other ppl have. No more special look. Hehe. With a 24L, at least u still get that special look that will make ppl go WOW! Still Wide n still got bokeh. Anyway, since ur spending big money, go try it at the shop la. Surely they wont say no testing for a rm6k decision. Buy both, 35L and 24L and problemo solved QUOTE(d_lai_309 @ Jun 7 2010, 11:49 AM) yes tried the 35L in the shop and love the color and bokeh, maybe 24L is better on FF cause is wide. but FF not my future so maybe just stick with 35L at the moment. well, maybe u r right about everyone get the 35mm look but sure not many can get the nice 1.4 bokeh...hahah......just kidding, dont stab me Sooner or later you'll join the ff side. Or get a real macro lens. Popular ones are like EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro. Can use for portrait and macro shooting. Does not really break your pockets too.

QUOTE(jobneed @ Jun 7 2010, 03:28 PM) the Raynox DCR 250 works fine with 18-55 and 50mm lens, and any other lenses that are less than 67mm in diameter on the front element.BUT due to the nature of the product, some zoom range may render it unusable. others may end up including the parts of the filter to enter the frame, making 4 black corners (no, it's not vignetting). i end up using Raynox DCR 250 to troubleshoot motherboard, eg the LGA pins bent or whatever. helps magnify the view. |

he probably just got himself a 100L + extension tubes or something. MP-E5 or whatever possible. donno him....... certainly not DCR 250. |

haha. Why do you want to fit the Raynox to the Tammy 90? I'm not sure about the filter thread size, guessing it's 52/58ish mm. Can always check with Uncle Google.

Di II = APS-C Di = APS-C + FF. notice your SP 90 is Di, not Di II btw you can scroll to the bottom of their product page, it will state. SP doesn't indicate anything about mounting. |

QUOTE(busyman @ Jun 7 2010, 09:49 PM) The justification is subjective. I wanted to get the VC version, but found out it was over my budget, no choice but to stick with the non-VC one. Plus the mechanics of the non-VC is nicer. Sharpness or whatsoever, I can't comment as I've not done side-by-side comparisons. Didn't spend time to play both of them and only took out the 4gb one to be my subject for my new lens. Srowpoke me just found that they actually provided a usb cable underneath the pendrive when I opened up everything just now cos the 5D USB itself has 2 versions. one is the USB on lens. the other one USB on body. Just keep the money and invest on a good filter the next time you upgrade. I'm still using the 50mm f/1.8 II which bought from you 2 years ago, did nothing to it from the day I got it from you. I have 2x of the 5D Mark II pendrive and one Ixus one. Sold the 2gb version and ixus cause tarak oomph. Kept the 4gb one. Should tell me ma. I just sold the 2gb version. How much did you sell it? |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 7 2010, 11:13 PM) wakkakaka, another srowpoke. I thought I'm already one. Kinda surprise to see that they actually provide a USB cable underneath the thumb drive. When I first plugged my 5D2 thumb drive into my lappy, the first thing that comes into my mind was, if only they provide an extension cable cause the thumb drive is kinda huge and it might block other ports. Little did I know they did provide one. Canon Delighting You Always! |

no la mana portable. so big. my other USB drives all so small. the body is so big you can't even connect to the back of the PC properly without removing other USB devices.
btw 50mm f1.8 - just get a cheap cheap used filter for it. i find that though it's cheap, it's good if you put filter. |

I plug once and I guess that's the last time I'm gonna plug it into my Alienware due to the huge size of the thumb drive blocking other ports. Nice to see, nice to hold, but not nice to plug in and out and do what it actually does. Did you actually measure the transfer speed? |

QUOTE(deodorant @ Jun 8 2010, 12:05 AM) Ask Mr Vikinglah the how much he got it for... For me it's like buying Rolex, the price won't decrease but will increase over time. So basically, tidak rugi lor (but I won't pay more than RM13k even for a MINT one)... That's why when I found a MINT 200L f/1.8 (The Holy Grail) I bought it. Now, I'm hoping to get 50L f/1.0 (The Mighty One), just have to wrestle with some British and Aussie guys... The IQ is inferior than the 50 f/1.8 II wide open but no other lense can open up to f/1.0 except the Leica 50 f/0.95. Also the dreamy effect is out of the world... Very damn nice for portraiture... |

QUOTE(ae8za @ Jun 8 2010, 12:37 AM) The Leica 50 f/0.95 is the same as Canon 50 f/0.95. MF... Leica might perform slightly better than Canon's. Anyway like what you said, Ultra rare MF and AF, obviously AF FTW!!!!!! Die die also won't go MF. If given the chance to own ultra rare MF and AF lense, which one you choose? QUOTE(khaiandrew @ Jun 8 2010, 12:37 AM) Aiyooo, I wish I had that choice! Sorry you got no choice but to get both. |

Eh Viking,
The 50L f/1.0 you bought from your friend comes with the blue box is it? Which year was it, UE or UF? The one I'm trying to get only comes with the black leather cylinder box and hood... This post has been edited by ae8za: Jun 8 2010, 12:45 AM |

Hi everyone,
I am thinking of getting the 550D as my first SLR... but I am worried about the Error 99 that seems to plague the Canon. You can find 4 pages of comments on it just in Low Yat. Some are really nightmare product stories. Last thing i want is a product that have to constantly go to the service centre. I dont see much complains about nikon or sony on the net. Please advise Thank you |

FYI they view more GOOD photos than all of us combined, and they pixel peep too! so what are you guys so worried about 50mm f1.8 II's image quality and cheap filter quality. so far my rejected photos - NONE are due to lens quality. i think that's enough to tell you how BAD is the IQ for 50mm f1.8 II + cheap filter......... so cheap until i don't remember the brand. |

If dont have then just make sure u test the AF at shop before buying lor. Very easy to test oni ma. Anyway different bodies got different settings so u cant blame Sigma oso. QUOTE(enferion @ Jun 8 2010, 09:25 AM) I am thinking of getting the 550D as my first SLR... but I am worried about the Error 99 that seems to plague the Canon. You can find 4 pages of comments on it just in Low Yat. Some are really nightmare product stories. Last thing i want is a product that have to constantly go to the service centre. I dont see much complains about nikon or sony on the net. Please advise if 550D give you such a bad reputation, i recommend you to buy 7D as yo first camera, no complain heard for this model.Thank you QUOTE(busyman @ Jun 8 2010, 10:11 AM) NO need filter, use it get scratched, sell it 2nd hand & buy a new replacement QUOTE(ryan216 @ Jun 8 2010, 12:39 PM) http://www.dpreview.com/http://digital-photography-school.com/ http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/ |

Err 99 problem if you consider # of user vs # of cases, it's not that often. I've gone through a few bodies and lenses, no issues. I'm sure others also have good experience. |

Hi, true 4 pgs = 80 posting may not be distinct case count of err 99.
Also very true, I worry coz I have no idea what it is about and I about to invest 3K into it. Hence I am here looking for indications from all the experts here. Not condamning any brands, I really like the 550D after playing with it vs the Sony and reading reviews, everything points 550D. I just worried about buying another stupid product like my XPS laptop with NVidia 8400 GS that burns and need to change Mobo.... Trying to survey as much as possible, feedbacks from the public... and see if anyone out there has had bitter experiences with Canon :-) Cheers |

Well, if you think that canon is good but you have no confidence to go, you should look to the After Sales Service. There are no major camera company willing to offer you 1 + 2 warranty except Canon(as i know). The 1 + 2 cover up your lenses too! Don't be scare *if* you are going to send ur cam to service centre, its because their service centre is good and friendly. We can't help you to makes decision. We are just giving you advise. Like him said, if you are so scared about Canon, then just go to the oranger, mainly to avoid after u purchased 550d, u tiap tiap hari takut ini takut itu. If you still can't make decision, then do what he said lor, tiap tiap hari come here and gather information until u can make decision. Thats my two cents yo. |

yeah, I'm more concerned on the focusing issues on the Sigma apparently since mine does not have microadjusting, which would be a hassle to send over and calibrate.
thx for the suggestion though anymore thoughts? |

The vignetting on 1D is only visible when you blast flash, else it's pretty negligible. QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 8 2010, 08:44 PM) Precisely. Cant expect much due to the big ass glass. 1D series will help to boost the focusing a little. Well, last time i bought, it was RM7.3k, 85L was 8.5k something? That's not really a big gap Imo..85L and 70-200 price gap is kinda far away Where did you bought yours from? Shashinki? if yes, send back to them to claim. I bought 4 sets of 4x Powerex 2700 from Shashinki and face the same problem. A year later they told me there's one batch facing manufacture defect. I sent back and they replaced 4 brand new sets of Imedion for me. |

QUOTE(enferion @ Jun 8 2010, 01:57 PM) Hi, true 4 pgs = 80 posting may not be distinct case count of err 99. Agreed with others. 1+2 warranty is the best already. Trying to survey as much as possible, feedbacks from the public... and see if anyone out there has had bitter experiences with Canon :-) Cheers Btw, was a Err99 victim too. But, Canon 'delighted' me well. Dont worry lah. Just go buy already lorh. QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 8 2010, 08:44 PM) Precisely. Anyone here going to Super GT? I've a few questions
1. How can i get a pass for the pitlane? 2. If i buy ticket for the event, can i stand at the handrail to take pics? (not blocking the others view) 3. Last time I saw there were many photos of Super GT roadshow in various shopping malls like Sunway Pyramid, KLCC.. I just checked these shopping malls event schedule but cannot find any relevant info. Anyone has it? Hope someone able to answer my questions. Thanks! |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 8 2010, 10:08 PM) I was wondering whether 550D's 18-55mm kitlens can produce good bokeh at F3.5?I mean still pictures and video Depending how far is the distance between your subject and the foreground/background. For f/3.5, it's at its widest end, so the difference in distances has to be very big to produce a creamy bokeh.55mm at f/5.6 should be able to produce the bokeh look that you are seeking for, remember, focal length distance plays a big role in bokeh look as well. And the Photoshop Lightroom 3. Too good to be true lah. |

I'm now delima on which to choose between this and Sigma 18-70mm f2.8-4.5 |

EPIC FAIL!! FAIL!! FAIL!! Nothing beats stupidity and the quick "shift-delete" action key. EPIC FAIL!!! Dang IT!!!
I just deleted an entire wedding shot's LR Catalog and the RAW DNG Files. Approx 2000pics and of which I just started working on and have gone to like 200+ pics.. ALL Gone.. ALL GONE! STUPID!! photorec is not recovering it. Test disk is not recovering it.. This is WHY you have backups. RAID also no use for stupidity. (the silver lining is, I do have 1 more backup. But all my work gone!!) mantra - Backup..backup..backup (or grow a freaking brain!!) |

Yes and No.Depends on where you look. The user base is smaller and the brand is new, and by that alone will limit your secondhand market. And my observation of people on the Alpha platform are usually more lay people (used to Sony's electronics) compared to the more established (or professional) buyer pool from Canon or Nikon. This means typical Alpha users may be less motivated to go after more expensive lenses and upgrades. Compare that to lets say the Canon EF mount which has been around since the age of dinosours.... and the millions of lenses made since inception. * just the other day, I poisoned an Alpha user kau kau with the 7D and my 50mm 1.4 in low light shooting. I think he had an a300? with the kitty and no ex-flash. Obviously the cameras are of different classes and price points...but it still hurts to get the beat down like that. it depends on how "determined" one seriousness in this hobby, if they CONFIRMED that they just play play & snap snap for memory only, then alpha can cater them well.
If so happen in the future their seriousness GROW out of control & want to pursuit this hobby seriously, then they are on the tormenting path of switching to C or N, which cost money & time & hair |

what's so wrong about buying Alpha. I sure wouldn't mind having an A900 with all the lovely Carl Zeiss lenses like the 16-35, 24-70, 80, 135. Just take a look at the yummy Zeiss 135mm f1.8, it's so big n lovely it'll put the puny little 135L to shame. The 35G n 70-200G r nice too. And all those Zeiss lenses r modern designs meant for huge reso like the A900. A lot of the Ls r ancient already n need updates. Only problem is Alpha don't have weather sealing n the big whites that I like and no fast action cameras for sports photography.
Birdy, u know the name Nigel Barker? Does he seem like the "play, play & snap snap for memory only" type of photog to u? Yes, he's obviously a brand ambassador but if the product is no good, he is definitely not gonna endorse it for it will affect his pictures n his career. I don't understand where this hatred for brands comes from. Let's not be fanboys n pls drop the hatred. There's no need to get all emo over a camera. It's just a toy. Some say tomatoe some say tomatoh, in the end still a tomato. Added on June 9, 2010, 10:22 am QUOTE(Vincent Pang @ Jun 9 2010, 10:09 AM) wat in specific that u need to know for 7D ? your kitlens is too powderful...
this is the one that confuse lotsa people, bcos a lot of people think kitlens = EFS 18-55mm maybe we should drop using the name kitlens to refer to the 18-55mm lens and type it out properly when referring to it This post has been edited by chucky: Jun 9 2010, 11:02 AM |

My 55-250 which is made in malaysia whereas my 18-55 is from Taiwan You can see the made in malaysia/taiwan words on the mount. If it is from japan, there won't be any wordings on the mount. I think all EF, some EF-S mounts and ALL Body are from Japan . |

Hi, I have a 3 year old 400D which afetr a year use by my bro came back into my hands recently.
Not sure if it's me or the camera technology have improved over the years, but i find that 400d pictures taken indoor and low light condition rather disappointing. Even my newly acquired compact Pana TZ10 generates far better result. As such I'm considering between 500D,550D and 50D (price range). My main purpose is photo-taking kids, family and travelling, backed by my TZ10. Can anyone advise me the best value camera to go for. My main concerns are photo quality (processor & sensor, not much of manual pro myself) , video (haven't not owned any dslr w video, not sure how handy this will come in) and forthcoming replacement models for the above and of course also value. |

Yes, he's obviously a brand ambassador but if the product is no good, he is definitely not gonna endorse it for it will affect his pictures n his career. Please, in my post, I don't even sound a bit like fanboy, i am just stating THE facts as follow :I don't understand where this hatred for brands comes from. Let's not be fanboys n pls drop the hatred. There's no need to get all emo over a camera. It's just a toy. Some say tomatoe some say tomatoh, in the end still a tomato. 1. Within similar range, sony IS cheaper than canon, so if some1 (did i ever mention big name such as simon yum or nigel baker in my post ?? jeezzzz) want to test this photography water, AND their mentality is "play play first, snap for memory only" then the damage done by buying sony is lighter than canon...... this is economy logic, aint any fanboy flaming here..... 2. I must clarify i have NO issue with nikon or sony or pentax or fujifilm or what so ever other brands, although my first camera is a canon. Clearly, everyone is spending their own pocket money here, & no 1 else can say a thing about it. So, i just offering my best neutral & logical advise & limited knowledge on their buying decision, of coz i joke sometime which is obvious in my post. WTF I TALKING !! CANON THE BEST LAH Good raining day ^^ |

Shashinki selling 5D2 body only for 7.2k now, from 9k. 5d2 kit as well, going for 10k from 12k. What could this mean? lol |

50D will be even more Ergonomic, solid and nice to hold. It will makes you think the otherwise of what you are thinking of 550D now.
Unless weight and size is a factor of your choice, 50D will be a better one. |

I am from Sarawak, cant go KL, So far my friend all nikon, only one friend and my father canon supporter. My friend had 450D, and i played with 550D b4, never play with a 50D. Size and weight might be a factor for me. I like to travel n my PnS camera cant memuaskan my hunger of taking good photo

i've got the proc covered w/ the i7-920.
I just can't stand the slow processing times of updating the pics in lightroom. |

QUOTE(myjunk @ Jun 9 2010, 10:53 PM) finally ah.. after such a long time searching in PM forums well not really, I've got offers but I was lazy to meetup so I kinda stopped the search for this lens. Then.. I finally decided to get the lens after knowing the fact that I simply can't afford the 35L alone, yet. lol.Added on June 9, 2010, 10:53 pmNew or old or grey? btw it's a used lens, it looks very new so I didn't mind. Besides it's much cheaper than buying a new one. QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 9 2010, 10:55 PM) Just took it out for some birthday shots for my sis, but will wait till I get a decent ones. Meanwhile, this lens is pretty sharp wide open |

QUOTE(Zelmel @ Jun 9 2010, 10:15 PM) Hi bro, Just wanted to know, at first i planning to buy canon 550D, but cancelled my plan, so maybe will save money first. Friends suggest me to upgrade to 50D, i know 50D is way better that 550D, but i had try 550D, i feel it very ergonomic, so how 50D feel like? Anyone can share? From the look, it feel so big n bulky 50D way better? not really. it depends on what you want. definitely 550D has advantage of noise control, LCD, megapixel, video mode, light weight. so you win some you lose some. if you prefer bigger body, subjectively more solid feel, faster burst mode and don't mine lesser megapixel, noise control and no video mode. 50D for you. furthermore Canon has promotion for 50D now. QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Jun 9 2010, 10:20 PM) 50D will be even more Ergonomic, solid and nice to hold. It will makes you think the otherwise of what you are thinking of 550D now. not necessarily. their buttons are differently placed to begin with. the 550D ergonomics are good but i won't say the 50D being better, of course the dial is a convenient part of all Canon higher grade bodies. QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Jun 9 2010, 10:20 PM) Unless weight and size is a factor of your choice, 50D will be a better one. 50D being higher priced but not necessarily the better one. |

LR2 vs LR3 Images ISO NR shootout.
I screwed up my LR files this morning, lucky I managed to save everything (touch wood) using my backups and no edits were lost. Whew.. ![]() ![]() It really does make it cleaner.. Note : Forget the White Balance. (I shoot Raw hence I don't care about WB anyway. I shoot AWB) |

QUOTE(rayleow @ Jun 9 2010, 11:13 PM) MINE IS 400D with 18-55mm std kit and last weeek bought nissin 622 thinking it would help, recently bought a pana tz10 compact to back normal day use. At first i was considering 500d, then came 550d (what;s the best price for the 18-555mm kit?).....as quite decided that i need to upgrade from my 400d, but then last week photofair at mv, salesmen psycho me to consider 50d bcos it will be difff category "proper upgrade" and now got 70-300mm lens for extra RM800.. 500d/550d still regarded as beginner entry level dslr. Feeling 50d in my hand my reservations are size (bcos i dun like lugging ard big cameras) and no video (not sure if this will come in handy) and digic processor (will this give me better picture compared to 550d). When will 60d be coming and should i wait? 1. 400D to 500D / 550D is a huge upgrade! specs wise 500D is like a mini 50D with video, 550D is has a lot of features over 50D. whether you jump 1 class above or stay same class (entry level) it is still and upgrade. Budget max is 4k but of course will stick to 500d ard 3k if its better value for money. Just really need to know if worth paying extra for 50d. Main intention is to take kids pictures and travelling pics. btw, anyone can advise best price for 50d (18-55)? 2. 50D now has the 75-300 offer. yes. and what do you mean for extra RM 800? Canon's offer is that you buy the 50D they give you 75-300 FREE! don't pay extra for it. 3. if size is an issue - go for 550D. it's superb. I'm using it and I like it a lot and would go for 550D over 50D unless i want burst mode......... but 50D is totally out of my intended purchase list because it has no video, something which i use a lot. 550D with 18-55 IS is about RM 2799 - 2899 range. i don't know how old are your kids but 50D with Tamron 17-50 f2.8 would certainly have advantage over 550D with 18-55 IS lens when it comes to snapping fast motion of kids. 550D with Tamron 17-50 f2.8 would be good too, just lesser frame per second for shooting children. not exactly a critical matter to me. either bodies are fine for travelling. in the end it's up to your hands - my hands prefer the smaller bodies, and i like them being light, comes with video and best of all the sweet 18MP in case i need to crop. |

@myjunk..definitely some details are lost. but very minor details to fuss over.
Who views pictures at 100% anyway Do you need to play with the croma and luminance slider or there's auto mode? oh yeah..you want faster load times of pictures then you'll need SSD for the 0.1 ms seek time vs ~10 ms for RAID. btw..how can you get new for so cheap?!? |

Guess LR3 NR is good for portrait shot, if the facial texture too sharp, then pimple hole is a nuisance when 100% peep. such as this

Hey , does goldfries check this thread often ?
Just a thank you note to him for replying in my previous thread about the Sigma 24-70mm along with the others . Didn't know that there was a thread for that sorry . But the reason why I'm planning to get that lens is because the pictures I take needs to be slightly more zoomed in compared to 55mm.. So , is the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 user friendly for a Canon EOS 450D ? |

Well, I do know that body affects AF speed a lot (thought was only accuracy that would be affected). That time TT in ikea using uncle fisherman's 1d3 + 28-300mm L, lightning fast AF. Put on my 500D, shooting similar things in similar conditions the AF was slow and sluggish

The response is just so quick, I dont even feel the half click then press shutter, while using the 1D. It's almost an instant, direct press of the shutter once u put the selected focus point on the subject. Just mash the button down n it shoots immediately. That's what I always say oso but a lot of ppl dont believe it coz they never see with their own eyes. Most ppl believe the glass is most important. "Glass is most important" believe is outdated oredi. It only applies to film era. It was all about the glass n type of film used in those days. Dont like it, can change to more expensive film. In digital cameras, the sensor is stuck there so if u dont like it ur stuck with the body. QUOTE(mauinsons @ Jun 10 2010, 09:49 AM) Hmmm, this is weird... I felt that my 85L II focuses faster with the 5DII compared to my 7D in lowlight or daylight scene... But I use the 85L II with full aperture and centre focusing pint lah, not sure when using other points... |

QUOTE(ae8za @ Jun 10 2010, 11:21 AM) Hmmm, this is weird... yup i use it will largest aperture and center focusing point as well I felt that my 85L II focuses faster with the 5DII compared to my 7D in lowlight or daylight scene... But I use the 85L II with full aperture and centre focusing pint lah, not sure when using other points... that's the reason why i prefer to have my 85L to stick to my 7D when shooting events |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 10 2010, 10:57 AM) That's what I always say oso but a lot of ppl dont believe it coz they never see with their own eyes. It's like using cheap film n being stuck with it with no option to change to better film. Only until you got a camera that out-resolves the lens. Of course, for me, glass would yeild that larger quantum of quality improvement. But, you are right..... but I think the other issue is that all cameras will have default NR applied (unless you shoot exclusively in RAW) and/or how strong is the AA filter. Only question is....how much. |
