hmmmm my 580ex-ii is malfunctioning. or maybe it's the contact point on the camera body, don't know which one. But randomly ETTL will turn off by itself and flash full power - then the flashgun LCD will say TTL (no E) and I can't access the flash menu in the camera (it will say incompatible flash). Any ideas?
*
I do encounter this occasionally. Normal among 580EXII users. I had emailed Canon about this and Canon tells me to clean the contact often. That's all.

yea I always wanted to go, but the thought of lugging few rice bags there made me ponder twice. Is there any lens that they don't calibrate? e.g those really ancient and discontinued ones due to they afraid they don't have spare parts should they screwed my lens during calibration?
*
Lens such as EF 50mm f/1.8 cannot be calibrated because it does not contain the electronics to accommodate calibration data. When I sent in my lens, none of the lens are calibrated, only my camera. Lens are only calibrated when they out of specification, which hardly occur.

Or get a real macro lens. Popular ones are like EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro. Can use for portrait and macro shooting. Does not really break your pockets too.

Distance scale? I thought you using 7D? how to look at distance scale on an EF lens anyway wor...all wrong...

On side note, since EF-S lenses are for APS-C only, does the distance scale actually work correctly?

So how is the focus after micro adjustment?
*
The distance scale and infinity point is accurate on APS-C, APS-H and 35mm full frame. The crop factor does not change the subject's distance from your camera's focal plane. Only the perceived focal length changes because the side of the images are not being sensed.

is it a big different between 50mm f1.8 and f1.4, is it worth the upgrade?

thanks
*
Big difference. Worthiness depends whether you would use it or not. Improvement are even more noticeable on Sigma 50mm f/1.4 but have to pay more lah biggrin.gif

Heard people said 18-200 quality not good...
*
So many people thinks that superzoom like 18-200mm are poor. No, they are not. Sigma 18-200mm is capable of producing great images. Canon 18-200mm is even better. For the price that you're paying for Canon 18-200mm, the IQ is near to 17-40mm, just lack of L colour and the premium build quality.

Raid 0 is danger IF one of the drive went mad.
just buy an ssd as ur main hdd mah rclxms.gif
save a lot hassles.
*
myjunk have to take this statement seriously. Do not RAID0 important drives. The probability of the system to fail increases with number of drives connected in RAID0 array.

hi.. i would like to know,
is it any wide angle converter for canon kit lens: 18-55mm (58mm)? i saw Wide angle converter on ebay and the price is only RM170, it is cheaper than what i expect, i don know is it can get wide angle effect o not.

i am sorry because i don hv budget to buy a wide angle lens yet.. smile.gif
*
It can get some widening effect with some serious vignetting. Feels more like minimizing effect rather than making it wide.

QUOTE(cvr_kx3 @ Jun 30 2010, 10:48 AM)
got 1 wide angle, just backup coz not as nice as wide lens comfirm

@ it sounds like you're buying it just to show off with the camera

Canon CP-E4, CP-E5. Just buy and connect to 580EXII and you will get all the power.

wan to ask smth..

if i put uv filter on my lens, can i put cpl filter again?

mean double layer???

btw how is d performance for arona uv filter? nvr heard tis brand
*
You can put 2 layers. Quality does deteriorate with each filter you put. But when you have no choice, then you will have to do it, as long as you're not doing it to make your lens look longer. tongue.gif

goldfries have been putting 2 UV filters for paintball shooting and he isn't complaining.
