QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 9 2010, 10:17 AM) what's so wrong about buying Alpha. I sure wouldn't mind having an A900 with all the lovely Carl Zeiss lenses like the 16-35, 24-70, 80, 135. Just take a look at the yummy Zeiss 135mm f1.8, it's so big n lovely it'll put the puny little 135L to shame. The 35G n 70-200G r nice too. And all those Zeiss lenses r modern designs meant for huge reso like the A900. A lot of the Ls r ancient already n need updates. Only problem is Alpha don't have weather sealing n the big whites that I like and no fast action cameras for sports photography. Birdy, u know the name Nigel Barker? Does he seem like the "play, play & snap snap for memory only" type of photog to u? Yes, he's obviously a brand ambassador but if the product is no good, he is definitely not gonna endorse it for it will affect his pictures n his career. I don't understand where this hatred for brands comes from. Let's not be fanboys n pls drop the hatred. There's no need to get all emo over a camera. It's just a toy. Some say tomatoe some say tomatoh, in the end still a tomato. . Like the other day right ianho Nex launch I think not every lens/body is made in japan. My 55-250 which is made in malaysia whereas my 18-55 is from Taiwan You can see the made in malaysia/taiwan words on the mount. If it is from japan, there won't be any wordings on the mount. I think all EF, some EF-S mounts and ALL Body are from Japan .

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Jun 15 2010, 12:32 PM) uncle ian.. 18-200mm mahal lar.. how about ini macam? Do consider my milk powder, pampers expense and future child education fund... with that in mind. What kit u recommend for noobie .. body + 2nd hand 3rd party also can ( sigma 18-200?). Sigma 18-200? I suggest you to try the sigma until you satisfied. Tried 5 copies and I gave up! The lens suffer focusing problems and the sharpness is very moody. Sometimes this range sharp Tomorrow the other range sharp. Some days, not sharp at all. If you have the money, go for canon's 18-200 or the 18-135 Both are beautiful lens

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 16 2010, 05:28 PM) crowded and pushing time IS also won't help what. in the end you go for faster shutter speed. I have to agree with you Now when I go and shoot press work, I go for fast shutter speed. IS doesn't help much in those situation. Most of the time, you have to blindly shoot the subject If you look through the viewfinder, you will get hit in the head with all the 1D series and flash This post has been edited by azrinarizz: Jun 16 2010, 06:08 PM

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 17 2010, 08:54 AM) ahhh that fisherman, now i understand. every time tell me he capture fish, he actually mean CAPTURE fish with his camera laaaaaa. i seeeeeee. Actually this fisherman that we know off will have 2x 28-300 if one incident didn't happen QUOTE(MingKAI @ Jun 17 2010, 08:58 AM) Hi guys some off topic questions.. Are we still allow to bring DSLR into FRIM? I heard they charge DSLR users since last year, is that true? Or do we have to really smug it? lol I think we can bring it. My friend just went a few weeks back. What is the difference with bringing a digital camera and SLR into FRIM? Both are cameras and both are used to take photos. So I don't understand to the no SLR but you can bring Digital Camera

QUOTE(BirdyFoto @ Jun 17 2010, 04:38 PM) hmm, reminded me about hacken lee & alam tham concert in bukit jalil, they said NO camera allowed. After went in, saw ppl with bazooka & monopod, i wondered n go ask them how they managed get pass the gate, they say "Easy nia, ask fren carry the lens in their bag, he carry the body in his bag, enter separate lane loooo......, as long u don't brandish yo gears when entering...." LOL Wah, you finally expose this seecret That is what I normally do when I go for concert. Seems to work everytime! @mauinsons: Well, maybe because they have this concept where everyone who is holding big camera are going to use the photos taken from the concert for commercial use. Whereas normal digital camera you can't zoom far as well as maintain the picture quality.

QUOTE(DecaPix @ Jun 18 2010, 10:01 AM) depends on what lens la some lens looks ugly with hood ie 18-55 some looks cool ie 70-200 I use hood for all my lenses except my 18-55 because it serve n purpose Had an incident where I hit my lenses against wall, tables, other cameras and so on So with the hood, I feel more secure when I hit other cameras or even a wall I rather spend 200 on another hood than fixing my lens which can cost me thousands That is why my hood have scratch marks everywhere after 1 day of usage

Yesterday I was looking through my super GT photos with my dad and he said panning with 40D was much easier compared with 1000D. Then he said he wants to upgrade to 1 digit. He asked me 7D or 1D and I asked him to try it out again when he is in Japan I myself is also lost between the 2. Both great cameras for different uses. QUOTE(DecaPix @ Jun 22 2010, 09:20 AM) yeah the 1D mkIIn is priced almost similar with 7D do you still have EF-s lens? but then 1.3 crop wont it feels weird? then there's still no UWA for 1.3 crop I have stopped buying EFS lenses. Only EFS lenses I have is 55-250 and 18-55 Well, my friends who uses 1.3x crop says the camera doesn't feel like a crop but more of a full frame

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 24 2010, 09:44 AM) this part needs change. once you put your thought into the job, you shoot less frames but you have higher success rate. with that, PPing part will also be much reduced since you got things right or at least, close to right off the cam. you can talk to the pros out there - not one of them will tell you the hardest part is post-processing. if PP is the hardest part, it means you're probably spending the most time and effort on it, after all it's the hardest. then clearly something is not right in the overall execution. I have to agree with you. That is what I learnt. Take your picture with confidence and make it the best as possible(composition, colours, style and etc). Editing is just a side part like control curves,WB,Exposure and so on. Try to make your picture as good as possible and do a 30 second photoshop edit and you are done. Sometimes pictures you take doesn't even need to photoshop because it is already great. Unless you are doing landscaping or want to achieve a special effect which is a different story.

QUOTE(BirdyFoto @ Jun 25 2010, 03:44 PM) buying from HK, will custom tax you for the new lens ? or how you transport it thru without paying tax ? You don't know simple trick. Put your lens inside your camera bag. The box just take out all the paperwork then unfold the box like t its original and put in between your clothes to prevent it from getting squashed if you like the box so much I will check when I am there and hopes the HK dollar drops sky high
