QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 7 2010, 12:33 PM) well the cheaper alternative is the Sigma 24 f1.8 while the aperture might not be as big, it performs great at an affordable price

a Quick question here, would you guys get a 35mm f1.4L, or a 135mm f2L plus a Sigma 30mm?

yeah, I'm more concerned on the focusing issues on the Sigma apparently since mine does not have microadjusting, which would be a hassle to send over and calibrate. thx for the suggestion though anymore thoughts?

thanks for the input guys, I guess I'll go for the 135L and the Sigma 30mm. while I would love to have the 35L as my main lens, The first combo sounds more practical.
cheers!

QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 8 2010, 06:18 PM) Why don't you go for Siggy 50mm f1.4 HSM? It's even better to fillĀ the gap between 24mm and 135mm. IQ wize is better than Siggy 30mm f1.4 HSM. well I tried the 50mm FL and I find that 30mm is just nice for the type of photographs I take, While the 24mm works great, I'm planning to sell it off since I just purchased a Tokina 12-24 for like, 500 ringgit? plus, my sigma is having backfocusing issues, which is a headache when covering important events. Imagine a portrait of the CEO of Chaswood Resources Sdn.Bhd (one of the largest multi-concept operators in the restaurant industry in Malaysia.) with his wife got backfocused. deadly shit I tell you This post has been edited by niwooe: Jun 8 2010, 07:11 PM

QUOTE(myjunk @ Jun 8 2010, 09:13 PM) hmm... y you following me?? I say.. don't follow me... I say again.. dont follow me.. depends on your shooting style. I find 135 is a nice length for me. (ON ff lagi cun) The Sigma 30mm is too short. When taking wedding portraits etc, have to get up close and that's just not my style. (My style is Shoot then lari.. keke..) I think perhaps best bet for Crop is the 85mm. Maybe get the Samyang 85mm F1.4 MANUAL FOCUS.. (NOT!!) well it might just be a coincidence that we have the same preferred FL. btw I use the 24mm and go UP close to my subjects and I don't find it a problem, heck the 30mm should suit me even more

QUOTE(rayleow @ Jun 9 2010, 03:13 PM) Hi, I have a 3 year old 400D which afetr a year use by my bro came back into my hands recently. Not sure if it's me or the camera technology have improved over the years, but i find that 400d pictures taken indoor and low light condition rather disappointing. Even my newly acquired compact Pana TZ10 generates far better result. As such I'm considering between 500D,550D and 50D (price range). My main purpose is photo-taking kids, family and travelling, backed by my TZ10. Can anyone advise me the best value camera to go for. My main concerns are photo quality (processor & sensor, not much of manual pro myself) , video (haven't not owned any dslr w video, not sure how handy this will come in) and forthcoming replacement models for the above and of course also value. I believe this is more of user fault's than the camera itself. I have friends who uses pro level bodies and the image quality is very disappointing too. My point is, are you really sure about what you think about the performance? well since fellow member goldfries uses his 350D with pride. never seen him complain about it before.

5D3 would sound good, I can't imagine how the 3D would be like when it comes out.
It'd be revolutionary.

QUOTE(myjunk @ Jun 9 2010, 10:53 PM) finally ah.. after such a long time searching in PM forums Added on June 9, 2010, 10:53 pmNew or old or grey? well not really, I've got offers but I was lazy to meetup so I kinda stopped the search for this lens. Then.. I finally decided to get the lens after knowing the fact that I simply can't afford the 35L alone, yet. lol. btw it's a used lens, it looks very new so I didn't mind. Besides it's much cheaper than buying a new one. QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 9 2010, 10:55 PM) PIC OR **** Upload some nice samples to poison the rest la. Just took it out for some birthday shots for my sis, but will wait till I get a decent ones. Meanwhile, this lens is pretty sharp wide open

QUOTE(myjunk @ Jun 9 2010, 11:16 PM) Mine is 1st hand. keke.. I'm really impressed by LR3's NR leh.. Looks good don't it? Would love to get 1st hand but third party lenses depreciate a lot more, (gonna get the 135f2L Brand New though ) The LR3's NR looks good but details are lost, hmm :S

QUOTE(ginolo @ Jun 10 2010, 06:22 PM) Anyone here tried out the 135mm f2 L before? hows is it? one sample shot wide open, SOOC unfortunately you will suffer chromatic aberration from this lens, well it can be removed during PP
