But lately, we dun have so many "active" hunters(including me), many have M.I.A. I roughly narrow down why our group is shrinking by days.

4)Change of hobby? i hope not, this hobby is almost free of charge, and healthy, and bring back so much childhood memories and...and...and...so much more......hahaha

5)Change in places of interest? not NTU, not PA.......but Casinos in Sentosa and Marina? haha....

okok, enough of my nonsense...haha....well, lets get together sometimes, even though we know its hotter at this time of the year, its busier at this time of the year, and it has lesser fs this time of the year etc.....Come back!!! Wheres our in-charge BTL and Ah Seng? plan something for all of us ley....haha....it may not necessary be fs hunting, can be a dinner/drinking outing....I'll be looking forward....tk u bros.

Pak Cekop and Rashif have strong FS!
Thanks guys for joining us in this forum and share with us ur great Kings.

Ironman is very strong, can fight 3 rounds against other strong FS. Megatron also an awesome strong fighter.

Ironman chop and grab so strong till Yashiro get push hard backward and its abdomen also bend abit bfr break free and retreat!

In the fight Ironman vs PakCekops FS.. both FS fought very well also.. lotsa close range chops, grab and swap position. Ironman is much stronger and dominated the fight and won in the end.

In the last fight, Ironman 1 leg abit injured but still can grab and push down Megatron at the start and middle of the fight.

Ironman in control and dominate the fight quite well sia!!. I feel Ironman will win but later at the end part Megatron managed to grab swap position and push Ironman backwards till both fall off the leaves! Both FS drop from leaf and gain footing at back den ran away separately.

Great fight! Simply awesome!

still ative jumping around and train them for some time not sure can fight yours

hi bro.. i've 2 Fs, 2 of them frm tanglin... found kang n bu in one nest..
manage to find 1 L-size today at holland area..well i work in landscape industry so i move around Sg.
but coming to the point, the one L-size..damn its only big in size but no show..
it see other Fs but turns back running...
Can any1 tell me wats wrong here??? considering the size of this Fs,it should be whacking any Fs easily rite?

i too have been pretty busy lately with work and family comitments.

looks like many brothers here also like that. well, at least good for the wild male fs... get some time to breed and hopefully got more fs in the future for whoever wishes to hunt the wonderful, captivating fs again.

recently i've been planting a few fs-suited plants in containers, hopefully this will form a base for some more fs cages i intend to build in my spare time.
Wild pepper leaves seems to be the most suitable.

i've notice one thing dont know for sure but...whichever fs has dark head or more black than green usually turn out to be
"kop pow" is this true ??.. caught 3 fs with simillar pattern and was "kop pow" and "sup pow"...but sadly 2 fs died.. left 1 fs
named J.K ...was caught in jalan kayu...good agressive fighter..fighting style "sup pow".. below is pic of J.K

usually kop/sup pow tend to be more matured spiders. And fs usually darkens as it gets more matured. so there maybe a link there. but certainly not always.
i have yet to see a white leg fs(newly moulted) being a kop pow.

i've caught 1 fs a small fellow..size-s..thought of letting this small fellow off back to wild but my fren told me we should test out this fellow first...it was a pleasant surprise its was a darker coloured fs and turn out its fighting style
"kop pow" this small fellow send 2 bigger size fs running off but sadly it injured its back leg so i thought give it a rest..
3 days later the poor fellow died
So if we talk about mature fs,how about its size.. does size matters??? i'm confused...

once a fs turn adulthood, eg male have white face, the size of the fs seems to be quite fixed leow. In other words, a small adult male is like a short adult man, he cannot grow into a tall adult man.

Normally pale green fs are strong type of fighters.. partial chop and can fight quite long oso.

Lately our side here is very quiet , except few usual kakis like Vincent81 and Pak Cekop and his friends, i guess no one is really hunting fs now..
Maybe we also lack of new hunting grounds lah, on and off still the usual few places, the fs there also know our face now...

Vincent81 recently got a Lsize which none of our recent catch can match, He is waiting for someone who is more capable to take down this Titan's descendant. Someone please.....

Anyway, i still hoping to see as many bros as possible in every outings, i believe even thou the catch is poor, the happy gathering is always rewarding.... See u guys

I hardly hunt for FS nowdays, once a while when i go jogging around my housing area, i still check out for FS but only have the small avg size FS n mostly FS leaves area have been cleared away. If i'm at SG, i dun mind joining u guys for FS hunt.

Good to know Vincent81 caught a Lsize fs. If can take some pics and videos post up here to share with other FS kakis.

Been busy preparing for my exams, but still hunt once in awhile in the weekdays.
Yesterday went PA and met a new kaki there aka Kamal, he is a nice guy, we chatted alot and fought our fs as soon as we caught them. Managed to video a Good Match and to share with all the bros in this Super low-key period, hope to bring some life to the forum.

Hi all, Im AL da Great , more into snakes especially pythons. im helping a fren here who in charge of Weekend Morning Talk show called Hujung Minggu Malaysia aired on TV1 from 7.30am til 9.30am.

They have this segment called Aksi Si Comel, where every Sunday, one animal will be appeared in the segment with the owner. The hosts will ask the owner about the basic care of the animal. The purpose of the segment is to educate people the right way of keeping animals.

Here is the detail;
Name of the Segmen: Aksi Si Comel in Hujung Minggu Malaysia
Tv Station : RTM
Channel :TV1
Language: Bahasa Malaysia
Duration: 5-7 minutes
Storyline: The host come to your place, then straight to ur animal cage, interview owner abit about food, basic care n such then the host will go back

Before this the owner have to come to Angkasapuri Kuala Lumpur to join the segment but this time , they want to visit your house coz based on their experience, bringing the animal to the studio will make them stress.like before the host will ask basic husbandry about the animal and wanna see how animal keeper kept their animal.

Hallo all FS bros!

Long time never post. Busy with this and that. First time on this new thread, thanks to Razor Fang!
It seems we just been through a very low key period. Weather very hot, most of the bros i know not playing.
Lucky got new players. Welcome to Fendi and friends, welcome to Kamal, and welcome to Jay and colleague!
Yesterday took time off and went to the usual place. Wah! Construction going on, not on the CB leaves side but on the opposite side.
Hope the fs population not badly affected.... Caught 2 ML. Went to compare with Ura's fs.
"Durian" slightly smaller than Royal, same size as Shadow. "Chendol" same size as Copper.
This sunday maybe meetup with any bros to challenge the fs. Time and place confirm saturday....

Hey Viper88, thanks for watching the clips. Yes me too i think Mindstorm is really a FS Professor among us.
For us, mostly are the thrill of hunting, fighting and keeping fs.

In the Random fight 02, yes the winner is the Partial Chop, i named him Predictor, though size only m-size i think he is really a good chop. When we just caught him, tested him against Copper, straight away injured Copper's both arms badly at his 1st attempt chopping , even he is so much smaller than him haha but didnt video it cos battery flat that time. I am posting more videos of him. As for Royal, maybe he is a XL-size, few weeks later he should look bulkier than now cos just caught him recently only. Ok hope you guys enjoy the videos.

Fuuoooo.. close range chop and tight arm lock. The Sup fs get pushed back and need to use its abdomen to hold stop the strong push! The Sup Fs tried to counter attack back but realise its opponent is too strong, after a strong bite to its opponent, Sup FS retreat. Good fight!

Just got back from a vacation at Melbourne and Sydney. Had a chance to briefly check out the "fauna" of the area. My tour was quite packed with activities so I didn't have time to spend hours looking at jumpers.

However when I went on a day trip to the popular Jenolan Caves (3 hours drive from Sydney), I spotted some nests among the bushes and trees on the bank of the nice blue lake. Saw a platypus bobbing up and down the lake but couldn't get a clear picture of it.




The underground river drains into the lake and carries minerals that colors the lake blue.


I pried open a nest and a jumper dropped out right into my hand. Perhaps it was a bit cool, but it seemed to be quite inactive and hand friendly. I liked it almost immediately. Looks like a female. Small by our standards although I'm not sure if it's fully grown yet. I have no idea how to ID it.


Another close up. I had no vials with me, so I put it into my floss container. It's now safe and sound in a bottle here.

BTW as a followup, my Eris militaris female is still alive and kicking. She was caught as a subadult in July 2009.

First Hawaii, now Australia. You have the luck of a true fighting spider enthusiast.
The one from Hawaii definitely looked like a Thania subopressa.

Your jumper looks like an Opisthoncus or Simaetha.
I wonder how the experts classify them? To me jumpers have fuzzy palps or don't, hah hah!

3pm.
The sky was heavy with dark clouds.
Ura and I went up to PA and met Yuda and Eugene, who had been hunting there already for a few hours.
We brought out our fs to compare size. Just at this time Ken25 and friend arrived.
Now it was confirmed. Ura's Royal and Yuda's 1st king are both L-size, maybe could compare with Termy, even Titan.
It was starting to drizzle a liitle and I was wondering whether to call it a day when Vincent arrived.
That made it a total of 7 kakis. We decided to fight the fs. Ura recorded a number of good matches.
But just as Yuda's 1st king challenged mine, Durian, it started to rain heavily.
We ran for cover....
Later, when the rain let up we went home.

End of today's story.

Next weekend: Meet at NTU to challenge Ah Kim and Peter (aka Buaya).
(Maybe only, have to confirm).

Hey Viper, we fought them but they straight away dropped to the ground which really spoiled the momentum.
Yuda's 1st king is smaller than Royal, can see his body and arms length are shorter.
Should be same size as Jong's Durian.
And he lost to Durian, but didnt video it becos we were about to run for cover at that period due to heavy rain.
By the way, the big fs-es we caught everytime are always from the few same old places,
anyone can get them just a matter of luck i think.
Yeah, next week might have more exciting match coming up!

Great size. Should try to get the genes passed along by offering some virgin females and then releasing the pregnant females nearby.

Wow.. looks like its around the size like Titan, Terminator, Hulk and Spawn.
I tried measure from ur pic.. Royal size is abt 7.8 - 7.9 mm!! Huge man.

Heres the FS pics with my estimation size for Titan - 7.5mm, Hulk - 7.5mm, and Spawn - 7.8-7.9mm size on Mahjong papers.

I measured Giant Bu from tip abdomen end till head its 8mm!!!
Bighead size is about 7.2mm.

So the summary of FS size estimation:

Giant Bu - 8mm
Royal - 7.8-7.9mm
Spawn - 7.8-7.9mm
Terminator - 7.8-7.9mm
Titan - 7.5mm
Hulk - 7.5mm
Bighead - 7.2mm
Monster - 7mm

Mindstorm, if u free n want to go SG holiday, can drop by see Royal XL FS.
Base on the pics and the estimated size measured i can say, Royal is bigger than BigHead as well.

nowdays.. these extra large size FS are hard to find.

Yo Mangrovejumper and Viper88, yeah i think so too... Think i will catch a nice virgin bu soon to try to breed, haha.
But whether the babies will really inherit the "big fs genes", i'm not too sure about that. Ya Viper, because it is sooo hard to get XL-size nowadays, it is natural to not let the fs fight often, or rather avoid all big fights at all, i know this sounds ironic though.
But i think this period is the "good season" at our usual spot, the other bros will also soon get L to XL sizes fs i believe.
I saw your Giant Bu's picture on grid, wow the head width is really wide, measured at 2.7mm! The other bu look so small compared to her in the clip too. And 1 thing is always true about fs size, without comparison, every big fs will look normal to you when you get used to it after sometime. I remember my few ex fs including Blademaster, Kane and Sky, though they all measured at 7.5mm at the later stage of captivity, the only clear difference i can tell between these 3 fs with Royal is the arms length. Though i didnt get the chance to compare them side by side, based on the pictures i took for them, Royal is the only one who shows abnormally long arms, but definitely not the thickest type. Seng's Bullet and BTL's Titan are very good examples with long and THICK arms. And too bad i didnt get to see Terminator and Robocop these 2 big fs in reality. If got a chance to compare all these big fs side by side, how nice will it be..
And to sum up, all these big fs were all "neighbours" to each other.

Great work for doing some historical comparison of sizes!
But i do wonder wheather having a full stomach could affect the length measured. Royal looks pretty well fed in that pic, while some others like Titan had a much less filled abdomen.

Looks like Singapore is coming out with all the king kongs.

Once again, u have beautiful pics there. And again u smuggle a salticidae thousands of miles back to ur home. Was it a ferocious/glutton type like hyllus?
With its fury pedipalps, the spidey in ur pics bear some resemblance to hyllus genus. If it moves and turn sloooowly, then it would certainly be close.

Right now i am keeping a couple of hyllus and quite a few fs too. haha, i maybe quiet but still very much messing around with jumpers. When i get back my camera which i lent to my bro, i hope to share some nice pics too.

It was hot and sunny.
Peter (aka Buaya), Vincent, Ah Ong (Ken25's friend), Ura, the Pakcekop Clan
and Jong met at NT* to fight their fs. The matches were recorded by Ura.
From what i can see, right now the 3 biggest spiders are Ura's Royal, Ah Ong's Rocketman and Yuda's 1st King.
Fendi and Jong also talked about Rashif's Ironman (see video posted by Ura at post #12). He was a very good fighter, like TFM, Bullet and BoomBoom.
Undefeated in his prime.

Later Ura and Jong travelled in Inn's van to a spider lily area off Lim Chu Kang road where Inn caught and released a spider
about the size of Royal some time ago. We saw a number of M-size kangs. Ura kept one for sparring.
Next time we will try here again for L-size.....

I still prefer fruit flies. Easy to catch coz there will be alot of them when i place banana or fruit skin outside my house.
I will select the fat juicy ones for my KINGs.. the normal or medium size for my other lower ranking FS.

Heys guys i saw this LARGE black thiania species, look almost like normal species, but face is grey instead of white, top of head have one silver band. legs and butt also got dull blue bands. The bands on butt got 2 bands, like normal, but is more straight than bent.

at the moment i'm keeping a pair of hyllus semi.

Today was one of the most disheartening day for me. In the evening at about 6, i went looking for hyllus in a nearby park and unexpectedly found another hyllus male...large one too. i saw its head just jutting out of a dried leave attached to the underside of a green leaf, pretty close to the ground. but damn, its nest was situated in such a way that it was difficult to encircle it with a large plastic bag which i had due to the leaf branches. and the ground was filled with large leaf litter and also it was situated just beside a slope, with even deeper leaf litter below. it took me half an hour to slowly cut away the leaves blocking my view with scissors and when i tried to slowly put a large plastic bag beneath the nest, it jumped and i lost it in the leaf litter. it was 7.30pm then and i waited almost until dark and still tried to search the litter but in vain. i can attest that the hyllus Semicupreus male is the most difficult jumper i ever tried to find and catch.
All my gear and experience came to nil.

Finding itself is almost an imposibility. I found the one i'm having now by chance when i saw it walking up a lily leaf when i was going to my car at my workplace. other than that, i have only seen it only 3 other times.
1) once as a boy(while still in mps, primary school, i remember) on a tree trunk stump in my grandma's garden. i ran to the kitchen to get a bag, but came back and can't find it again.
2) caught one small one. the one that drank milk in one of my clips
3) i saw one hanging on a tread from a tree at my workplace carpark. a large one. but when it dropped to the ground, it very rapidly jumped towards a very thick hedge and dissappear into it. but because there were people walking up and down that place, sitting nearby, and i was wearing office wear, i didn't want to pursue it.

Catching it is very difficult because

1. it is highly sensitive, just a slight movement of its nest and i saw it gearing to pounch out.
There was no way i could have just cut the leave of its nest and just lift it up like wat we do for fs.
2. it is a master of eluding... going out of view or the other side of a leaf/branch rapidly whenever it sense a movement/shadow
3. its color makes it a master of camouflage among dried leaves/branches
4. it has a powerful jump and would jump consecutively till out of sight/reach(and probably jumping and quickly crawling under the leaf litter to other parts from where it landed)
5. it doesn't appear soon after it jumps into leaf litter, staying put of a long period of time probably due to its sensitive nature.

if only i have a bottle of water then, maybe it could have helped. Damn. otherwise we would be able to see a hyllus semicupreus male vs male square off.

last wekend i go to tioman....n found 1 jumping spider...but this guy have diffrent colour...more to yellow n black.....

if im not wrong normal jumpng spider got brown colour....
