Thanks to Bro Ricky for the T cam and to Bro Jason for passing them on to me! Thanks also for the LC worms which Bro Jason gave some to me.
Here's a couple of closer up shots of the pattern of Tcam. Yes, Jong, I believe it is the same species of Thiania as the one shown in the link. Pattern looks similar.
Attached Image Attached Image
The female had eggs passed to me but almost all of them were spoilt. Luckily there was 4 surviving greenish slings which are still newly hatched and immobile. Hopefully they can survive till they start eating.

Hi bro mindstorm,
Thanks for the kind comment on my clip. Bro Ura did tried the female facing with HK Bu but they don't seems like fighting..as for the T-sub male also not everytime they fight when met T-Bha male, sometime it saw T-Bha straight away run eventho that male r much smaller than him.. sleep.gif'"
After discussed bro Ura think u r the best person to keep the giant male with bro jason if u still interested,we won't c tis species today if without u & bro vipper...both of u r real Datuk of spider ! notworthy.gif

P/s: bro vipper,I will try to post the location/spot later tonite.

Cheers,
Ricky

Thanks alot for Tcam, Bro!
No lah, don't say I'm Datuk of spider. If like that, I think there are many many many bigger Datuks than me here!
But I think everyone who contributed big or small to this forum make our fs hobby more interesting and exciting.
The only title I'll except is TS. Never I thought this fs passion would be carried on for so long(3 and a half years now) because before this I saw a few fs tread which start and stop after a short while. But thanks to all the fs brothers here, the fs flame continues to be burn stronger and stronger. With new species blood coming in and more information shared on how to continue to keep them, hopefully some old kakis will return and more and more new kakis will join in too.

T. red looks like the same as T. sub.
Anyway, some/all of these spiders may already have been previously named.  There were arachnologists of the past that
have done the research.  Unfortunately, I don't think macro existed then!  wink.gif

Thiania species

Thiania abdominalis Zabka, 1985 — Vietnam
Thiania aura Dyal, 1935 — Pakistan
Thiania bhamoensis Thorell, 1887 — Burma to Sumatra
Thiania cavaleriei Schenkel, 1963 — China
Thiania chrysogramma Simon, 1901 — Hong Kong
Thiania cupreonitens (Simon, 1899) — Sumatra
Thiania demissa (Thorell, 1892) — Indonesia
Thiania formosissima (Thorell, 1890) — Borneo
Thiania gazellae (Karsch, 1878) — New Guinea
Thiania humilis (Thorell, 1877) — Sulawesi
Thiania inermis (Karsch, 1897) — Hong Kong
Thiania jucunda Thorell, 1890 — Sumatra
Thiania luteobrachialis Schenkel, 1963 — China
Thiania pulcherrima C. L. Koch, 1846 — Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Sulawesi
Thiania sinuata Thorell, 1890 — Malaysia
Thiania suboppressa Strand, 1907 — China, Vietnam, Hawai'i
Thiania subserena Simon, 1901 — Malaysia
Thiania viscaensis Barrion & Litsinger, 1995 — Philippines

Another interesting factoid is that T. bhamoensis means "north of Burma", therefore Bhamo-ensis.

Nice compilation of photos by Ura. I think there are a couple more. The last pic, the yellow bumble bee-like Thiania, is the one you also found at PJ. But we can see it is a more distant relative compared to the rest of the Thianias. Haven't seen the female before though.

Now if only we can match these scientific names to the photos.... Tools needed would be
1) the original papers where the species are first describe which have the drawings of the pedipalp patterns
2) a microscope and dissection tools

I believe there are many species which remain unseen and undescribed and it is possible..or should I say "definately", that some of the Thianias we found have not have been described.
For example the list shows 4 species from Malaysia
1. Thiania bhamoensis
2. Thiania pulcherrima
3. Thiania sinuata
4. Thiania subserena
Aside from T.bha, the other 3 names can't cover
1. 2 species gotten from Bukit Tinggi by Viper88(one of them may be same as the one you got from Cameron)
2. T.cam from Cameron By Ricky(different from the one you got)
3. 1 species I got from a forest reserve in Kepong(also you found one at the lookout point)
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/608348/+80 (post 95)
4. The big Bu and small male species(T.blue as coined Ura), found by Viper at lookout point and also by us at Hutan Lipur..
5. The bubble bee species found by you in PJ(although this maybe different genus)
not to mention T.black and T.red coined by Ura in Singapore which country have no mention in the list(except for T.bha)

I still remember a photo which I naively tried to take of my first king when I was 13 years old. All I got was a blurred photo of what looks like a leaf.

Hi Everyone.. smile.gif

Wolverine(bottom) vs Cyclop(top) Rd2 - 040611[/b]

This fighting style is very special, different from T.Bha and T.Sub.
Would be interesting to see Genji, caught by Viper88 versus Cyclops, caught by Ricky!
Too bad Genji already released. Maybe can go Bukit Tinggi to catch another one, haha!

Yes, agree would be good if we can match up the species names with the photos....

Good compilation of Thiania species pics.

Rindaman's female fs species should be this one. The female subspecies i caught from Hutan Lipur Sg Congkak area.
It's abit brownish colour with shinning green stripes but when under sunlight its colour chg to blueish.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/608348/+2420

Bro Ura should be able to confirm bcoz i've passed him Rindaman.

I'm not into rearing slings or breed, more interested in hunting and fight FS. laugh.gif

You have strong interest to rear FS slings and breed them since last time when started this FS forum,... hope with u passion and strong interest..
one day your dream to breed and produce high quality FS fighters will become a success. icon_idea.gif

Hi bro viper88,

Haha..sorry to put ur nick as vipper..@@,no wonder no response fr ur side whenever i mentioned "vipper" earlier on,paiseh paiseh blush.gif .
Yeah it was really exciting when i found the baby Fs between the leaf..I look at my son "heh heh..Ho seh liao, here got Fs.."the small T-cam seems no different with T-Bha baby in term of size & behavior, only the color more blackish or typical T-bha's chopster looks. The moment I found the 1st giant Bu was really shocking.."OMG! I'd found a Giant Bu same sized with HK's Bu..!" this the msg i sent to bro Ura when i saw it. blink.gif after that i show it to local resident asked would tis bite us,most of e answer is "I Think YES" or "where u get this?",seems like local's resident more on tanam jaggung in thier childhood. Now ardy cfm it wont bite, but i still don't dare to handle T-cam Bu by finger.. tongue.gif
T-cam male fighting mood unstable, sometime it facing T-Bha feel shocked, think may b T-Bha considered an alien fr Mars in Cameron highland..and yes T-cam male show extremely fierce stance when i put T-Bha male into his best, sure fight but can't take video leh..

Here's some highlights to share, again sorry for picture quality thru my phone's camera.

P/s: I did bring back a xtra pair of kang+Bu for bro Yuda currently cared under bro Ura.

Its sure a shocking + exciting catch when u landed urself getting this huge size Thiania sub species FS at cameron highland.
When i caught Giant Bu last time.. i was like waa.. So huge. wheres the male ? wheres the male King kong?
Keep searching but only found normal average size male.

U managed to catch both huge size Male and Female FS ... strike jackpot liao lar.  laugh.gif
Bro Yuda sure will be very interested with these T-Cam FS.. maybe he will go Cameron Highland soon to hunt for them.

Hmm.. the giant T-Cam female and HK T-Sub female not interested to fight each other?
Earlier video i saw the giant T-Cam female seems trying to chop a normal male T-Bha fs..
Maybe this T-Cam females likes to fight male FS instead. biggrin.gif
From the pics posted Storm size is really huge..HEAD and Abdomen so big size....  the face looks abit white like male.. but its palp looks not swelling..
Could it be a male and its the reason for the Black Cat to avoid any confrontation like previous male encounter?  hmm.gif

In your video also..the T-Cam male oso seems can fight quite well against normal T-Bha Fs and chop Fs...
is its after being chop earlier by chopster the T-Cam becomes weak and no mood to fight?

Most FS after making their own nest inside leaves and settle down sometime will becomes more aggresive in fights to defend their territory..
Its more like protecting their nest... I feel this T-Cam FS also will be the same.

Yea.. last but not least.. my nick is Viper88... nit Vipper.. lol..  rolleyes.gif

Ok.. no worries.

Both T-Cam male and female FS have good size. Should reach 10cm or >10cm?
I saw the T-Cam male fighting videos.. they raise their arms and bend their arms flat same ground level fighting stance.
Good way to block jumping chopster attack..

Their arm pushing speed also seems slower compare to T-bha FS.. but with their body size and long arm, other smaller size FS will have difficult time to push them backwards. Can see Wolverine have good fighting skill, managed to hold and counter attack back chopster attacks... if fight with normal strong T-bha FS should be exciting fight also. Any SG FS bros have L size strong T-bha FS that can give T-Cam some good fight?

Hmm.. Hotel Equatorial at Cameron. brows.gif
New place to comb for FS kakis..

Saw in Bro Seng FB pic.. he and Bro Vincent caught another1 or 2 diff Thiania subspecies FS recently..
The new species FS also look like a strong type of fighter. Its arms and body structure looks tough.
The colour also also nice.. thumbup.gif

Hi everyone,

I discovered more and more places to hunt fs in my area, hunted on saturday and sunday and caught about 30 over males (15 of which is SL and above size). released 40 fs this morning (including those which is already in possesion before I hunted on the weekends) thanks to bro Ricky's advice. Kept only 7 fs now due to low food supply and exaustion (I spend 6 hours to feed each of them yesterday night.... sweat.gif )

Saphire is getting weaker and weaker day after day, upon seeing him drinking more water every few hours I decided to release it this morning. Havent fully develop/seeing his potential, its sad to let it go but thats the only viable choice I have rather that seeing its corpse...(he stand a bigger chance to survive in the wild tho) sad.gif

While massively figuring which fs I should keep, I took a few videos yesterday night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmFsdExsc3k - owen won vs newly caught
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z5uewYwOsU - 2 newly caught
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfcrVPxekoM - mari won vs newly caught
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIe7heFKCSk - chopster vs chopster

I hope that my current king 'kompany' can upheld the throne for longer than saphire (his arm is shorter than saphire but his body is longer, about 7.3mm. hope to pump him up in the next 2 weeks)

caught 5 original chopster (1 lost his arm and leg after duel (released), 1 died immediately after sparing). Im left with 4 normal fighter and 3 chopster currently.

p/s : looking forward for your trip bro Randy/edmund. pls spare a day (at least) for hunting if possible. I can only cover 1km distance in 2 days so 500m is not bad for a day (im talking about 500m combine full stretch of hunting fortress)

cheers,
Jason

Hi Danny, thanks for the sharing the Various Thiania Groups and the Interesting Factoid of T.Bha!!
Indeed it is really not easy now to find out which thiania actually belong to which in the list.. i believe there are still
many types we didnt even see the photos before.. Anyway i have made another compilation of the Thianias, but this time with the Male's photos attached.. Plus some Unknown ones i found the photos online.. So let's take a look.. smile.gif

P/s: T.Red and T.Sub are indeed related but definitely not the exact same species. The similarity is in their Head Pattern only, the lines/pattern on their abdomens are totally different. The HongKong Experienced FS players did claim that this is a Cross-Breed Species between T.Sub and some other kinds of Spiders, should be not any Thiania.. smile.gif

Ok Guys, we will need Everyone's help to fill in the Missing Photos above. Either you happen to catch it yourself or happen to find the correct photo when surfing.. Or add on to the Photo List to Thianias discovered, there must be still many more we have not seen yet.. Thanks Alot!! rclxm9.gif

Yo Mindstorm, Nice Pics of the Very NICE T.Cam Male you are holding! Must be very Huge size like Wolverine or Cyclop too, or even Bigger! It is Great to know that you are also keeping FS Babies now.. smile.gif ..but a Different Thiania! In fact the T.Cam females i am keeping now might lay eggs in the coming weeks too. And also recently my T.Black single-arm Female has laid a thin layer of silk on the floor, which is a Sign of Pregnancy i think! I think this time i will really become VERY BUSY taking care of all the Babies! Hahaha.. This is also the First time i see Greenish Slings, becos both T.Bha and T.Sub are not these color i supposed. Very Special Color for a FS Sling! In fact, i also kanna the same fate when my 1st Batch of Eggs hatched at early May. The Egg Sac contained 20+eggs but only 4 hatched. Could it be the rest of the eggs were not fertilized?
This is what Xarms and Yuda told me.. Here is the photo of my very 1st Batch of T.Sub Egg Sac:

Attached Image

P/s: Do update us the Progress of your T.Cam Cutie Greenish Slings.. I think LC worms is really one of the BEST food for them when they are in their 2nd-3rd Instar. Becos they are really small enuf(i mean the newly-hatched LC worms). And they are easy for a sling to prey on becos they dun run about like a madman. As for T.Sub Slings, once they reached 4th Instar and onwards, feeding them will become a much easier job.

Here's a photo of my first 4th Instar Sling 猫BB02 having a tiny pinhead cricket:

猫BB02's Growth History:
1st Instar
02/05/11 - Born. Body Length: 0.9mm
2nd Instar
09/05/11 - 1st Moulting. Body Length: 1.5mm
3rd Instar
21/05/11 - 2nd Moulting. Body Length: 2.2mm
4th Instar
04/06/11 - 3rd Moulting. Body Length: 3.0mm

I hvnt put them on grid to measure it's size,if judge by my eyes i estimate biggest male is ard 8+mm,biggest female ard 10mm+-.both of them currently with bro Ura,we pass this mission to him to find out the real size of them for us, but u must b patient bro..gotta wait he finish measuring his 17 slings 1st. whistling.gif
I also notice the male's fighting stance very special, very gd in defensive like muay thai/thai boxing style, and thier arm pushing also looks powerful,I found both T-Bha (Delta-x & Goldie) fight with them in my video hv serious injured in thier arm last nite, ardy released both in morning.still not sure is it really caused by T-cam's power push..ok tmr try on another chopster to find out brows.gif
Yeah i saw some pic posted by bro Seng, one of it(pic taken with his tatto in hand)looks muscular,if this one can fight arr... shakehead.gif
Coming Sunday meet him & some other kakis @ PA,heard bro Yuda also going & bro Ura will bring along all his whatever sub too..waa shiok man!! thumbup.gif

No prb bro,u're one of the best person to keep them.

Wonder why my thread was missing, which my reply to u & bro jason i wrote last nite, now gotta re-post..may accidentally deleted by myself or someone took it out...sien.

Very nice pic taken, tks for sharing bro.
The greenish Tcam babies looks just beautiful, never expect it still able to hatched under such warmer climate..4 slings is consider very lucky liao.I think the luckiest to u is the amt of them,I mean look at bro Ura,spending 2 hrs just for feeding em like a nanny,i don't think u can do the same thing especially u're ardy wellknown as busiest man on earth...so to me 4 slings is just rite!! Yeah do post thier pic/video when free, can't wait to c the progress of 4 lil cutie!

Think there's still hv alots of other species ard, this time round gotta let u & other bros to find out!

Hi Everyone

I have been away for holiday in Hong Kong for only 4 days and there are so many postings, particularly about sub-species of T-Bha.

I would take time to read the past days postings in detail later at night. In the meantime, while in Hong Kong had no opportunity to hunt as was with children and grandparents. While in Ocean park, saw 2 red-leaf sticking together and out came a T-Bha female . (not sure T-Bha or not but looks very much like our T-Bha). Shall name this female Cecilia Chung and below are her videos:-

Fighting Spider (Female) From Hong Kong 090611
Fighting Spiders (HK Female and SG Male) 090611

If Cecilia Chung is T-Bha, then T-Bha can live in 4 seasons and likely plentiful in Hong Kong too. She is SL sized.

Hey Bro Randy, Welcome Back to SG..! thumbup.gif

Hope you and your family members have enjoyed your holidays in HK.. biggrin.gif ..understand the hands are always itchy when walking pass leaves and trees which look potential of FSes.. laugh.gif ..Yes i think ur Cecilia Chung is a Real T.Bha Female cos a T.Sub Female dun look like this i supposed. T.Bha can live in 4 seasons but they are mostly found on the lower grounds there.. some T.Sub and T.Bha can co-exist at the lower grounds, but it is on the mountainous areas where most T.Sub are found.. smile.gif

By the way this Sunday we are all planning to meet at P#.. might have quite a number of Kakis and Cars this time so i hope there is no "disturbance" like that time.. brows.gif

Hi bro Randy,

Nice seeing u back. Where did u get the fs from? I might want to try my luck the next time I visit HK. 3rd week of the month is around the corner, Im looking forward to spar with my fellow kakis from sg again. This time bro mindstorm will join us icon_rolleyes.gif .Btw thanks for the pinhead crickets bro mindstorm, I think I will try to breed it so I wont have to trouble u guys in the future smile.gif

hey bro Ricky,

I've pass the Male u caught from cameron to bro mindstorm, hopefully we will be able to see some different breed or even cross breed from him in the near future. I was thinking which one would be bigger in size, bro Ura's slings or bro mindstorm's greenie. lets wait and see.

Couple of days ago, I caught a male with big/small teeth (I named it big T), not very big in size but miraculously beat my 2nd, 3rd & fourth king followed by beating my current king, Kompany in a stretch of fights. here are some videos I manage to take.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2SLKEWb3SE - Big T won vs Blanc

p/s : Bro Randy can u help me buy 2 packs of baby crickets and some LC worms when u come over before my crickets could be breed in time to feed the fs, many many thanks notworthy.gif

cheers,
Jason

yo bro Ricky,

The name ranger suits me well as im a lone ranger here, lol. u seem to have nick names for every one of us, when u see bro mindstorm u will be shock to call him datuk, he looks much more younger and handsome rclxm9.gif

Big doesnt mean strong, ur thundercat is smaller compare to my saphire but still won, at the end of the day the trainer is the strongest not the fs. you can have the fastest horse in the world but given a lousy trainer (like me sad.gif) u will still lose to other horses.

I dont have trouble with adult crickets, can get anytime from fish shop, the only problem is babies... I kena F**K kaw kaw that day in a fish shop for asking for babies, they say i siao cause no one sell babies vmad.gif but thanks for your advice, its really great to have advices from pros like u (else Im still keeping 50 fs now, lol)

cheers,
Jason

Hi Bro Jason and Hi Everyone

Yes it is nice to be back. Cecilia Cheung (think is correct spelling) was caught in Ocean Park itself. The exact spot is near the cotton trees near Jelly fish area. In the coach, saw a lot of potential spots in the city. Today I realised that Cecilia Cheung is likely a good sized ML sized FS, maybe entry level L size and sigh....if only had time to hunt there may have caught big male.

I love your Big T. The teeth look so cute when one protrude out and he has nice long arms. Big T also seem like a strong fighter. I would definately buy crickets and bring along LC worms when I go over and I really hope my relative is free to accomodate us as last year December had to change plans last minute as relative not free.

Saw the earlier post by Mangrovejumper and what struck my mind was '"Thiania bhamoensis Thorell, 1887 — Burma to Sumatra ". That means way back in 1887, Ang Mohs were hunting and probably fighting FS??? I then started to day-dream of hunting with our local Fs team and Ang Mohs in jungles in the 19th century......catching 8 mm males... nice to know that our type of FS are available from Burma to Sumatra. Well these places may be my next holiday destinations. rclxms.gif

Bro Ricky will be bringing his Dream Team and for me, it is liklely a "Dream-On Team ". I wasted no time to have my lunch time hunt on Friday and this morning. Caught total of eight Male, biggest is SL. Retained one sub-pow which I shall name as Snap as well as an M sized one (which beat 3 SL sized ones) called Pikachu. I also thought of using the name Hello Kitty but decided that Pikachu would be more appropriate.

SL Probation (Top) V M-Sized (Bottom) 110611

SL Probation (Left) V Pikachu (Right) 110611

Anyway, my Dream-On Team (I somehow try to make it tomorrow):-

(1) Strawberry (ML)
(2) Mysterio (SL)
(3) Macho Man (ML)(drop form already)
(4) Fear (SL)
(5) Pikachu (M)
(6) Snap (Sub- SL)
(7) Cecilia Cheung (ML....for viewing pleasure only)

Your Exspiderking

Randy

Thanks to Bro Ura for this rare video of T.cam moulting.
Every spider we see goes through this process at least 5 times, but it is not often observed....

It is good to see the forum active again, with many activities going on!

Good luck and best wishes to every kaki who has contributed to our fs hobby!!!!!
