They also launched ispeed.my mobile app, adding another to the abundance of mobile trading/stocks apps available out there.
QUOTE
Malaysia's first fully online trading platform, iSPEED.my, was launched today, and it aims to capture up to 30% of the country's retail market share in the next three years.

The mobile application platform was launched by Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd, a joint venture (JV) between Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd and Japan-based Rakuten Securities Inc.

Launch promo: Free CDS account opening & brokerage fee waiver for first matched trade, from 18th May to 30th June 2017.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*Currently Rakuten only offers Nominee Account. Which means can't apply IPOs with account registered under Rakuten. For attending AGM and companies annual reports, investors/traders shall contact their rep at 1800-88-6001

**For corporate actions, Rakuten Trade currently offer ZERO FEE charge. No confirmation if this is also part of launch promo.

***Account opening can now be made through its WEBSITE.

Note: Rakuten Trade is not an Islamic PO. For Islamic POs as listed by Securities Commission, please see attachment below.

I don't understand, what kind of benefit can they provide?

Maybank has a Direct CDS account (cash upfront) with RM8/0.1%, which is about as cheap as this and so much more convenient when transferring funds into and out of your trading account.

What is the selling point of this company? I heard the BFM interview with the Japanese Rakuten guy, and I was expecting much lower brokerage the way he was talking...but it's all just some wayang only. I'm totally comfortable with Maybank, plus they have a good trading portal (IE only) and pretty good research reports.

I enquired them regarding fee imposed on corporation action. They said they are currently offering zero fee for all corporation action. I will update the first post later to include this info.

To attend AGM and request for company annual report, need to give them a call.

Me neither. I only see advantage for those who always make transactions <1k. Other than that, pretty much on par with other platform.

They are proud of full fledge online platform. For opening nominee account, other brokers also provide fully online account opening right? hmm.gif

If currently means a promo for few months then not worth it.. But if it's for life then I think its a good deal. DRP all can just let them handle.

From my point of view, I feel that Rakuten for beginners is nothing better than say playing other brokers that offered a similar rate. For instance, if I would to fall into the category of RM1,000.01 to RM9,999.99, I'm playing RM8.

What is the point when MIBB Cash account or even say AmSecurities is offering RM6? I know it is just too much for me to say but I feel it would have been better if they could offer somewhere in the RM3-5 range. And even for the nominee CDS, this doesn't help further.

My apologies, my bad. It's AmSecurities that is offering RM6 and not PIVB. PIVB is double at RM12.

You might want to call up the nearest brokerage or check them out before joining them.

Honestly rm 100 flat rate for 100k and above cash only.. it is quite tempting for some private fund, which does have cash, not big not small. But can have 2 3 million to roll

I still can't see what is it about "straight through processing of stocks trade"

Aren't we all already doing the trading online through online banking/fpx to bank in money to remisier, to carry buy/sell orders? What so different about service offered by Rakuten that aren't already offered by existing providers?

Except that there is a partial "human touch" with remisiers, and they are real beings and we have to feed them slightly more for them to enjoy commissions but this only needs to feed the huge monster called the "trading firm" and even so, with the price rate unless you trade like RM1 million per order and can theoretically save RM1.8k for two way trade.....

They claim this is a revolution and the order is placed directly with Bursa. How is it any different from M2U for example? Are you saying my M2U orders have to go through a broker first? I don't think so. On many occasion when I buy at the sell price my order is filled instantly. I have a hard time believing a human approved/routed/matched my trade.

But I must say my broker is helpful, she does respond to my message/emails if I need to know something. But I have never asked and she has never given me any stock recommendations.

i use maybank for trading mainly.
their web platform is no difference with others (provided by EForce)

But their home-made trading apps for Android SUCKS big time.
They should use trading apps provided by Eforce instead of using their home-made apps.

For those using more than 1 brokerage and is using Android phone would understand what i mean

Did anyone open a Rakuten Trade account yet? They're having a promo to give a rebate for the RM10 opening fee. It'd be a good idea to open an account first for future use.

Was going to open with them but I'd figure it will be a turnoff. Nominee account is one of them, and I personally do not trade more than what I deemed to be worth the money. In the end, back to square one.

Just my opinion, but if one just wants to buy and sell for swing trade, guess it is better than nothing. nod.gif

Ah yes, having DRPs with a nominee account really saves the hassle of doing paperwork here and there. Same goes to exercising of warrants, very troublesome to go to the company's place or the registrar to do it.

Did anyone open a Rakuten Trade account yet? They're having a promo to give a rebate for the RM10 opening fee. It'd be a good idea to open an account first for future use.

FYI, M+ and HLebroking has been absorbing the RM10 opening fee for a long time

Maybank also need to pay RM10.60. But of course, I only paid RM10 since that was before GST came into the play.

However, Maybank absorbs the market depth cost providing 5 levels instead of only 3 in some brokerages. I think Rakuten is also 3 level depth.

Oh yea I love Maybank, 5 levels of buy/sell quotes. Really makes a difference. Public Invest uses the exact same platform but give just 3 levels of quotes, and they claim you need to pay to unlock more.

However, Public Invest will absorb your account opening fee and also absorb transfer costs for all your counters should you want to transfer to them. However, their min fee is RM12/0,1%.

I called Rakuten Trade today. According to the CS agent, no handling fee charges on all corporate actions. Only fees paid are those charged by bursa.

May I know how to calculate the buying cost?

For example : I wanted to buy a stock at a value of rm 1.55.
Quantity : 1 lot(100 shares)
Board lot

Pls explain to me how the buying value is calculated based on the mentioned price and quantity of share, brokerage fee, clearing fees, stamp and any other fees that applicable.

I just opened my 1st CDS account on Rakuten and saw this forum post. Now that I know it's a nominee account that can't purchase IPO, what's the point for me?

Can I open another Direct CDS account under some other bank now that I already have a nominee CDS account with Rakuten?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Just started using rakuten less than a month, very easy to use for beginner. Although there is a mobile app but the website version is much better. Small lag noticed when processing but nothing significant.

Once transferred using FPX from another bank account not registered, transaction success but no money transferred in. Called customer service they issued ticket and solved within half day (around 3 to 4 hours), super fast.

Regretted opening an account with RAKUTENTRADE, most of the information provided r a whole lot of garbage. After many, many complaints and highlighting to them on a lot of discrepancies, nothing is being done to rectify it. Share historical prices r never quoted other than 0.000 or 0.005 (third decimal) but RAKUTENTRADE platform u can get high or Low for the year 0.001-0.009 (0.005 is correct only).
BINACOM closed @0.59 (0.00 increased); how could that be, when the IPO was.only.0.46!!!

I've been using Rakuten Trade for a month now, seems more user friendly for beginners and the website is more clean. I still use Rakutentrade as my main trading account, transfers of funds in is easy and fast. Customer service is really good and quick. Below are some cons so far that I found.

1. Research tends to come in late and sometimes missing. Improved at the turn of the year in January. Serviced by kenanga reports, reports comes in at 9am everyday, some days at 9.30am...
2. Sometimes the information/graphs not complete or missing, have to refer to other websites to verify. No idea for why this happens.
3. Mobile app is below expectation. No app for ipad, uses the iphone app. Does its job to place orders, could be improved. I still prefer to access from my web browser to do my trading.
4. My buy/sell order have not been processed before (1 time) but customer service was fast to rectify the issue when calling them.
5. The system has occasions that is still unstable sometimes and will update on fridays usually for an hour or so after market close.

Overall, i'm quite contented using the platform, as with anything new, it is still improving. I've tried other platforms but the interface just didnt suit me. Just a personal preference.

yeah was abit agitated at that time but issue was resolved almost instantly after I called. Believe they were updating their system during that period so could have been that. So far in my 2+ months using, only experienced it once. If it happened more than that, i'd probably have cashed out already by now. When one door closes another opens right? biggrin.gif

It did trigger me to re-activate my other brokerage account to standby though.

Do you know how Rakuten pay dividend?
*
All dividends are deposited into Rakuten's account. They're the nominee. They will then process it after receiving the money from the company and credit it into your account. I was advised that it would take 3 - 5 working days for it to be processed.

Here's a real example:

I received my dividends from AirAsia and AZRB (through Rakuten) on 24 October 2017. Their payment dates were 13 OCtober and 16 October respectively if I'm not wrong.

I bought some Oldtown shares through Rakuten a few months back and Oldtown is planning to be taken private with an unconditional offer of 3.18 per share.

I did not receive any direct offer from the buyers as Rakuten is not a CDS account. I tried queuing at 3.18 but its not filling, as the current share price is hoovering between 3.15 to 3.17 .
Is there any way i can sell the fair price of 3.18 or the only way is to sell at market price?

Or any one had any similar experience with company going private through Rakuten? Thanks.

Have you tried talking to Rakuten? Their customer service is very helpful. The thing with Rakuten is you gotta let them know if you wanna do something. Like if you wanna attend an AGM, you need to let them know days in advance. Neither they nor the company would notify you of the AGM. It is your responsibility to know and to inform Rakuten.

KL one is over. It was held on 25 January. The KL one was actually only open to Rakuten clients + 1. They have had quite a number of talks in KL. If you have an account with them, you should receive notifications from them - both email and SMS.

Hi fense, we thank you for the feedback and we sincerely apologize for the unexpected technical difficulties in the beginning of the seminar.
To answer your concerns which you have highlighted in your post;
1) Door gift – Attendees with a Rakuten Trade account who checked-in at the event will receive 500 Rakuten Trade points.
2) Lunch – As mentioned in the agenda, refreshments is provided at 4:15 pm (full agenda can be found here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rakuten-trade-...076824?aff=es2# and click on DETAILS)
3) Info – The first half of the seminar was aimed towards educating new and current customers on how to fully utilize the iSPEED.my application and stock screeners while the remaining half was for our research team to talk about the market outlook for 2018.

We hope that the above clarifies your concerns. We love to hear direct feedback from the community to better improve not only our products and services but also our on-ground events.
If you have any topics which you would like us to cover at our future events, do let us know. You can always drop us an email at customerservice@rakutentrade.my .

Thank you

Thanks for reply.
Probably I had expect too much.
I though a biggest company from Japan will do Event more organised. Not started at 1pm sharp, and arrange event start at lunch time without refreshment or food on arrival but not at 4:15pm. I was left earlier to looking for lunch.
Japanese was famous with their punctuality.

Rakutentrade was aimed to be self-manage platform with support, most of the registered and current user probably had been understand your first 2 hours explanation before registration/ opening of account.
I received call for invitation before event, I assume this event is aiming on experience user, not beginner.
Probably just my assumption as previous experience on others platform/securities.

I see Rakuten mention order submitted are only executed in the next trading session (same day) for orders done before 10am. For those done after 10am, it will be executed the next day.

This seems kinda slow for me. Is this the norm??

Rakuten Trade's customer service is extremely helpful - when they want to be.

The system is messed up. I've brought this to their attention through 3 emails and they have managed to ignore every single one. Other than this issue, they have always gotten back to me. It's selective customer service on their part.

I purchased Kerjaya shares in mid February before the bonus shares. After the bonus, their share price went down and the loss reflected in my account was 5x more than what I really suffered.

When I last emailed them in early March, my loss should have been RM1,102.98 but instead it showed RM5,067.92.

This fucked up every single numbers in my account. My current profit/loss level for that company, total profit/loss for all the companies I have shares in at the moment and once I sell Kerjaya, my year-to-date profit, my profit since I started trading on there etc would be affected too.

Thank goodness I keep a record on Excel on every single trade I have done the moment I started trading with them. Now every single numbers on there is messed up for me because of one company's bonus issuance - and also because Rakuten refused to fix this, or at the very least, acknowledge my fucking email.

Also, look at their recommendations. I would never follow their recommendations. A lot of the companies that they recommended have had their share price go down. I expected more from Kenanga and this Japanese company that they're collaborating with.

You'll have access to Kenanga research reports and there are account statements generated on a daily (if you make any transaction for the day) and monthly basis. Does that answer your question?

If not mistaken, Rakuten's are nominee CDS account. For IPO you will need to have Direct CDS account. Personally I'm using Hlebroking

*
They will directly credit the dividend to your trust account, after 5 days from the dividend payment date, and they will send out email to notify you.

After login, go to My Account, under Cash Upfront, click on Transaction History and click Dividend, you can see it from there.

Just registered for a Rakuten Trade account, it's activated and I can login now.

So what's/where do I see my CDS account number? Is the CDS account number only valid for rakuten only? Or can I use my CDS account number for other banks too?

Also, if I buy stocks through Rakuten, and after they declare dividends, will I receive a dividend declaration letter in the mail, under my name? Or is it just directly credited into my Rakuten account (meaning I won't receive any dividend earnings letter)?

The CDS number is the number stated in the account tabs under the dashboard. One CDS is only for 1 trading account.

I think you will receive the dividend tax voucher whenever the dividend credited into your RT account.

Go to My Account, your CDS number is located at the Tab.

What do you mean using your CDS number for banks ? Its only for stock exchange.

I need some help. I don't think I understand how to read the buy/sell table

Like this one,
it says there are people out there looking to buy a total of 3,749,300 shares, offering RM1.020 for a share. But the best sell table says 1,300 shares are available for RM0.915?

So why don't the RM0.915 shares get sapu'd right away by those buyers right away? The offered sell price is lower than the offered buy price

Rakuten Trade launches revamped Contra 2.0 with lower brokerage fees

KUALA LUMPUR (March 6): Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd has launched its revamped contra trading platform, Contra 2.0, with features aimed at improving investors' trading experience.

Speaking at its launch today, Rakuten Trade managing director Kaoru Arai said the platform features a reduction in brokerage fees as well as a Day Trade Rebate Programme, in response to requests from its clients.

The brokerage fees for the contra account now mirrors Rakuten Trade's Cash Upfront facility, with fees ranging between RM7 and a fixed maximum of RM100, compared to RM8 to 0.15% of trading value equal to and above RM100,000 previously.

Meanwhile, the Day Trade Rebate Programme offers a rebate on the 'sell' brokerage fees for investors who buy and sell the same counter, within the same day.

"Contra 2.0 is game-changing. It completely revolutionises the contra trading platform currently available.

"Our objective was to encourage more people to trade online and we believe that by keeping things simple such as reducing our brokerage fees and adding a Day Trade Rebate Programme on top of the current Contra Trading platform, we can do exactly that," said Arai.

He added that Rakuten Trade's trading platform currently has more than 27,000 accounts as at March 1, out of which more than 10% are contra account holders.

A contra account allows investors an extended spending limit based on the shares and/or cash placed as collateral. Depending on the shares the investor wants to buy, Rakuten Trade will extend a multiplier of up to five times more.

Very disappointed with Rakuten Trade. Unable to log in since in the morning which resulted me to unable to sell at my preferred price.

Called up to their Custimer Service to place my sell order.

They should seriously look at improving their platform asap. This is not the first time happening.

Only happened when stock market is hot, such as this morning. And so many concurrent users logging in at the same time, and probably system cant take the load.

Or their cloud provider or cloud configuration cannot elastically expand resources as intended.

It was fine from 8am - 9am. It started to slow down after that and then intermittent access.
And even the app on ios/android - ispeed.my - has issue to login.

But I believe so, they have improved a lot since 2017 and 2018. To be fair to them - it is like AirAsia of stock trading.

If they cant fix by 3 to 4pm better no need to fix for the whole trading day. No difference.

My experience - less than 2 hours, if you have submitted all the documents.

Rakuten brokerage fees is cheap, comparable to m+ etc.
Go google imoney share-trading site to compare.

It all depends on what you want to do, direct cds, nominees, ipo or just plain trading.

Asking a beginner question.

1. Buying or selling a share with order type: limit, why it won't buy or sell even when it reaches the target?

2. What to do with expiring warrant? Any other options like convert to share, etc.?

What are the fees involved for rakuten trade?

Just brokerage fee of RM7 when you buy?
Do they charge anything when you sell the shares you're holding?

Limit sell - you have to queue, even if the share price has reached your intended sale price, if someone else has put their sale order before you, their sale order will clear first.

Expiring warrant, it depends on the warrant itself - if still can convert or not.

Am thinking of opening a Rakuten trade cash upfront account but have some queries. Appreciate help.

1) Do one immediately have to transfer a certain sum of $ upon opening the account or only need to transfer the $ when one wants to trade?

2) As most probably I will not be trading (or very minimal trade) for the 1st few months, will I be urged/harassed to do so?

1) minimal rm 10 in cash account to keep it active (Min rm 10 - to keep it active). I have managed to get it below 4, lol
Initial account opening under contra 2.0 promo period is rm20, you get back rm10. Then with those balance cash, you can buy odd lot unit of some penny stock, without topping up any cash, if you dont want to (but remember rm 7 trading fees, clearing, sst, etc).

2) no harm, do it when needed only. I think you need to to trade once in 3 months possibly, cant remember (not mentioned anywhere also). Bursa CDS will be inactive if no trade in 36 months (3 years).

Extra note, cash kept in cash or contra account gain interest 2.5% pa, calculated based on daily rest - credited monthly. This is more than m2u savers account. Not guaranteed by PIDM - usual stuff.

Is the buy/sell in the platform considered long/short?
Follow up: Assuming it's long/short, if I long 1x and then short the same stock 0.3x, are those counted as 2 transactions where I'll be charged RM14 assuming my amount is <RM1K

what do you mean by short? you want to do Intraday Short Sell? If that's the case. You can't as Rakuten does not participate in IDSS.
if you are asking to buy and then sell same counter within the same day, they have rebate for broker fee. Instead of RM7 x 2, you will be charge RM7 only for the broker fee.

I understand multiple buy and sell for one single counter/stock consider as one contract.. So the charges is only one time. Counted as one trade.
Is that so?

By short I mean borrowing on margin and shorting. Example: selling/shorting a particular stock even if I don't own any of it.

yes. buying multiple times in 1 counter in the same day and board lot will be calculated as 1 trade. trading fee will be based on total value of buying for that counter..
but if you trade odd lot even the same counter in the same day, it will be consider as different trade and will not lump into 1 value.

Rakuten use CDS nominee under Kenanga. So you will not receive any hard copy quarterly report for any share you hold. Even if you want to attend AGM, you have to let Rakuten knows as the share is under Kenanga Nominees not your name.

This is becoming necessary now - since market is very volatile nowadays. Even though if you are a long term investors.
The amount of percentage drop for some counters, is really scary - like Dayang.

Some small time investor, prefer privacy, so nominee CDS account is the way.
Quarterly report, get an online pdf version, easier, less messy to kept in the house or to throw it away.

M+ is different. CDS is under your name, not nominee. I also have M+ account. Their live trade screen is much better than Rakuten and also have interactive chart by Chartnexus. Brokerage fee also very good if you are using cash only account.

For contra account, Rakuten is better. Rakuten need to improve on trading limit value. Now need to wait until end of trading then they will update the trading limit value. Too slow

I have been asking Rakuten to implement it since Day 1 i open the account with them. Call their customer service, send multiple email, yet the answer is "We going to send the proposal to management". Cut loss is very very important function. So, we no need to worry so much about the stock.

Yes Dayang is the right example for this. If we are full day trader then it should be no problem, but a lot of people don't have the luxury to become full day trader.

In this digitalized era, what's your opinion on going the traditional way creating trading account vs going online?

Bursa marketplace now they are promoting having trading account and they will assist all the way until the first successful trade...

I am having dilemma using RT or wait for FSMone....

So far RT is the cheapest if not mistaken...

Up to now I just want to buy REIT for the time being.

i would say its better and more efficient to open trading account online. government want more and more public to own/invest in stock market. they are making it easier for public to invest.

first you need to ask why you want to use FSM? its more to own trust fund and trade bonds.

if you want to own REIT like SUNREIT, IGBREIT, KLCC, etc that are listed in Bursa Malaysia, go with stock broker company i.e Rakuten, M+ which give the cheapest trading fee and good trading platform.

since 18th December, REIT sector have been outperforming KLCI by 9%.

FSM because I am with them for years. In SG and HK, they provide facilities to buy stock buy not in MY. Their recent changes I think they hinting to intro stock too. Just not sure when. Since I have acc with them, its easier for me, all for one.

But now what I see RT quite cheap. But 1 thing is the nominee account. Sorry for noob question, if RT went kaput, how is our holding? Who shall we claim from?

Guys,
question about dividend.
We are eligible to dividend payout as long we purchased before ex- date right?

under my Rakuten Trade transaction history, share settlement, the date appeared to be 3 or 5 days from the day the orders are matched.

eg:
i make a buy order and matched on 20 Apr,
Ex date is 24 Apr,
But under the share settlement, the date is 25 Apr. And because of this, i think likely not entitled to dividend payout i guess?

Any comments? anyone encounter this?
Is it just rakuten trade that the share settlement is like 3 to 5 days from the day the order is matched? and not on the day the order is matched?

buy before ex date for dividend entitlement is the usual saying.. but the share settlement got me confused.. dont know this is just Rakuten trade / nominee CDS vs those direct CDS difference.
But i guess no difference.

RT is nominee account and not in bursa broker list. Is it better to trade directly with say kenanga instead of middle man?

Direct Account

1) Beneficial owner and shares purchased held under your name.
2) Attending AGM is no issue. On the AGM day itself you can decide whether you want to attend or not.
3) Can apply IPO.
4) Processing fees involved when you subscribe corporate action like Rights Issue/DRP etc.
5) Receive annual report from companies.
6) Dividend payment as accordance to the payment date announced.
7) Opening account request might take a few days.

Nominees Account (Rakuten Trade as example)

1) Beneficial owner but shares are technically not held under your name.
2) Attending the AGM as proxy. Need to send in your request 10 working days before AGM date.
3) Cannot apply IPO.
4) No processing fees involved. Can be done via your trading platform.
5) No annual reports.
6) Dividend payment date will be slightly late.
7) 2 hours to activate your account.

You decide.

Can anyone shed a light on the STP (Straight through processing) offered by rakuten? How many seconds does it take to complete an order? I mean from the moment we send our buy/sell order till order matched? Can it be done in less than 5sec?

Hi guys I've registered with Rakuten 2 years back and have minimal stocks in it.

Now that I'm planning to divert more of my portfolio to dividend stocks, I plan to apply for HLE broking - prefer a direct account vs. nominal.

Do I actually own a CDS account if I only traded with Rakuten before this, and where can I find the CDS account number in Rakuten?

Thanks.

I see deposit in rakuten trade cash upfront account can earn interest 2.25%.
Is the money in the account protected by PIDM ? I am thinking of putting money there to earn interest daily basic.

Certain securities are currently exempted from stamp duty. These are mid-cap stocks, structured warrants (C and H warrants) and etfs. Ths exemption is not for Rakuten only but by all brokerages.

Maybe you are referring to this?

ETORO is not licensed in Malaysia, so u don't get any Malaysian investor protection laws like asset security, claims n compensation. U take that risk.

Most Malaysian brokers uses the same 2 IT vendors for their retail broking front end. Excel force or N2N. Maybank I think uses Excelforce. I prefer the Excelforce look as well.

I think Rakuten uses their own system.

you need to wait for T2 (2 trading days later) only can withdraw your funds.

T2 is the time needed to settle your contracts.

U can call their hotline or wassap them if u have any Q. Quite fast response (not sure abt this long weekend though).

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding DCA and broker fees.
Lets say I got shares for companies A,B and C.

and now every month I buy shares like this:

A - RM300
B - RM400
C - RM200

so I pay rm21 broker fees per month

***********************************

Is it better if i do like this:

this month buy A - RM850
next month buy B - RM900
third month buy C - RM870

Three months only pay RM21 fee

On one hand, in the long run I would be saving a lot on the broker fees. But then wouldnt the effect of DCA for each share would be lesser because I buy from each company less often (once every 3 months)?

But also, given how volatile share prices can be, DCA may not be impacted as much anyway I suppose?

Hi, regarding buying odd lots, is Rakuten's odd lot limit only 99 lots?

I tried buying more than 100 but it gives me "Invalid Quantity" error.

Malacca Securities.. I was using them for years but switched to Rakuten after the FPX transfer made transferring money in hassle free. But Rakuten raising fees when everyone else has been reducing over the years has made me decide to go back to Malacca.

I tried logging into Rakuten Trade today and i notice there was a requirement to include my Tax Identifier Number (TIN).

Is the tax identifier number our tax number (SGXXXXX) or is it something new that as i remember reading about something new being introduced in 2020.
Anyone have any idea?

foxxy 1) What is this value?

Yesterday in my cash upfront account:
My cash + current market potfolio price is at least $1k more than the value shown
My cash + cost of my portfolio (ie purchase price + fees) is at least $1k more than the value shown

That's why I don't understand what this value is. Doesn't seem to tally to anything

Today is even funnier. (did not place any trade today)
In my cash upfront account, now the 1st row value is showing the same $ amount as total cash that I have (ie trading limit).

2a) Also, does Rakuten bank in the dividend into our bank account?

2b) Today is the ex-dividend date for 1 of my shares. Wonder, when will we get the dividend from Rakuten

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Very interesting tool and thanks for sharing! But maybe not so suitable for stock markets since prices can fluctuate so much (like what's happening now) and it asks for an expected return rate per year?

*
This probably similt with kentrade, check
My account > Transaction History > Dividend
Payment depends on payment date + Transaction days X
Nominees may take longer.

u applied already? i applied it and just 1 step away from accepting it...... their interest is higher 6%+. no need to pledge cash/FD to get 100k limit? i hope they don't charge for inactive account...... i only want it for emergency use....

According to the terms and conditions in the Rakumargin agreement, Rakuten does charge a commitment fee for the margin account which is not utilised.

But they did not state the interest rate. Assuming 1% per annum on RM100K = RM1000?

Thanks. Can only see the dividend from the website. Was trying to see it in the apps, but there was no such function.

that's the thing i worry about.... they do not specify the rates/calculate properly (or i miss it).... i don't mind the 6%+ charges......it's acceptable since no collateral required. but i worry about the hidden charges... like this inactive fees... that's y i hesitate to accept it....

Malacca Securities.. I was using them for years but switched to Rakuten after the FPX transfer made transferring money in hassle free. But Rakuten raising fees when everyone else has been reducing over the years has made me decide to go back to Malacca.
*
is Malacca Securities just the same like Rakuten Trade whereby you can register for an account online(and perform all transactions on their platform) without the hassle of physically going to a bank? Coz for other major banks, we have to appear in person at the branch in order to register for an account etc.

should i get another nominee a/c from rakuten? ez to do it purely online (unlike hlebroking have to scan softcopy email them and post hardcopy to their branch, took me some time)

if open rakuten, open contra or margin one would be better for long term

Yes you can create account and buy and sell and even withdraw from home.

If you're playing small volume. Less than 10k RT should be low brokage fee.

I contacted Raku Ranger yesterday to ask whether a commitment fee is payable for the RakuMargin facility if it is not utilised. The reply which I received was "The interest fees only will be charged on your outstanding transactions at 6.8% per annum".

I take this to mean that Rakuten is not charging any commitment fee.

Lai, lai, who wants to become the white rat and sign the Letter of Offer? Please inform the forumers here if they start charging you any fees for not using the margin facilities. biggrin.gif

i reviewed the T&C papers again and i still couldn't find any to show how and when and rates that they will charge the Commitment fees..... i also notice the can waive it.... i guess it is not a mandatory fees....
anyway drawdown must be within 3 months.... else they will cancel the facility... i suppose to let them cancel it rather to charge commitment fees.
i have accepted it cos my offer is expiring tomorrow. but i still no plan to use it anytime soon.... i still have balance with other margin accounts.
i will cancel it as soon as they charge me commitment fees..... but..... i have no idea how to cancel it..... i can;t find any support number or bot to throw my question. How u manage to communicate with Rakuten? any careline, email, bot chat?

"Section 3.18 Commitment Fee
If the Facility is not fully utilized by the Client during the Availability Period, the Client shall pay to the Bank a Commitment Fee at the rate specified in Item 7 of the Schedule hereto on the unutilized portion of the Facility calculated on a daily basis and payable in arrears at the end of each month. The Bank reserves the right to waive or vary at any time and from time to time its sole and absolute discretion the rate of the Commitment Fee by giving notice to the Client in writing."

I’ve been using Rakuten Trade since the end of 2017 and I just realized today that it’s not under Bursa’s list of registered brokers (trading participants) here: https://www.bursamalaysia.com/trade/trading...ng_participants

It is said that to be 100% risk-free it’s best that your trading platform is included on the above list. In the case of an unlikely event, such as the bankruptcy of your brokerage company, at least your investment are protected (similar to how PIDM protect a bank’s customer).

I understand that Kenanga Futures Sdn Bhd is in the list but it’s an entirely different company if we look at the corporate structure of Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd: https://kenanga.com.my/who-we-are/corporate-structure/

How safe are we in a highly unlikely event (remember Lehman Brothers in 2008)?
Any thoughts on that? Thank you in advance for any valuable input!

PS: Would love to upload some images to illustrate my points but the uploading server is currently down.

Firstly u are using the wrong list. Trading Particpaints refer to Futures Trading brokers. For equities broker, find the list called Participating Organisations, this is where u will find all the IBs and other securities broker.

Having said that Rakuten is not on the PO list too as it is not a full fledged PO. Rakuten has a special license granted by the SC, and is a JV between Kenanga IB and Rakuten Japan.

How safe is ur money if this JV go bust? I think reasonably safe coz Malaysian securities laws are pretty strict when it comes to client money and shares. The same law applies to Rakuten.

Also Lehman went bust because a lot of prop trading positions. Rakuten is pure execution broker.

P/S I do have Rakuten account, but it's not my primary brokering acount.

Thanks for the clarification. Apologies for being on the wrong list! The correct list should be here: https://www.bursamalaysia.com/trade/trading...g_organisations

Anyway, while Rakuten Trade Shd Bhd is still not on the list, its parent company KENANGA INVESTMENT BANK BHD (which is on the list above and owns 50% of RT, since it's a JV like you said) is. So from here we can conclude that we're relatively safe.

May I know what is your primary trading account?

Whatever apps also will have occasional system problem

next time if u want to sell at a target price, just queue the day before lor

But i withdraw once from rakuten after using it for 2 months. If u submit the request to withdraw today, the next day it will be credited to your acc. Minimum must keep RM10 in your rakuten trading acc

Rakuten is a lousy platform. Dont use!

System can crashed. Orders all suspended. Can cause you to miss Bursa opening and closing orders.

Orders can be gone missing due to system error without you realising while trading!

For RakuMargin.....u need to pledge cash... the multiplier is lower than my bank....the margin fees is higher.... i better use my current bank margin account...... only the trading fees is cheaper.

Generally, your trading limit is determined based on the pledged cash and shares. They will each be assigned a multiplier.

For example,

RM10,000 (Cash deposit) : Trading limit of RM22,500 (x2.25 cash)
RM10,000 (shares) : Trading limit of RM12,500 (x1.25 pledged shares)
Note: Example above is based assumption you do not have outstanding balance in RakuMargin account.

For more info please be refer to our FAQ: https://www.rakutentrade.my/faqs/rakumargin...y-trading-limit

Other than the ability to trade US stocks (I assume so since you mentioned global trading), what are the benefits of CIMB iTrade compared to Rakuten?

What are the trading fees like in the 1k-9.999k and 10-50k tier?

Hey everyone, just being genuinely curious here. So we all know that short-selling has been suspended by Bursa temporarily until April 30th.

I’ve never done a short-sell all my life. I wrongly thought that maybe doing intraday trade without waiting for the T+2 settlement means it’s a short-sell. Just to be sure I remember calling Rakuten Trade to ask if there’s any changes I should be aware of when short-selling was suspended. The person on phone told me RT has never offered any feature to perform short-selling.

Since it seems like a popular phenomenon in Malaysia, so much so that it required a temporary suspension, what are the brokerage platforms that offer such service? Does most banks (like cimb itrade, HLe broking etc) offer this? Or is it something rather rare?

Do note that I’m not interested to do it or encouraging anyone to do it here, just something I’m wondering. Hope someone can enlighten me. Thanks!

Not just US stocks, but SG and HK.

My trading fee is 0.1% for Bursa and a crazy high of 0.42% for foreign.

If you trade small amount for foreign, its so much cheaper then. For eg: SGD1k *0.42% =$4.2 compare to Fund Supermart Singapore of $10. Is there a minimum fee for foreign transactions?

Hi have few questions to ask sifu
Let say I go in BUY Maybank
We see the 1st best SELL price which is RM7.50, 2nd sell price is RM7.51, and 3rd RM7.52

1) How do we know if there is people selling below RM7.50, let say RM7.3/7.4?

2) what does the volume stands for?
Is it in term of number of lot(100 shares), or just number of share?

3) can we set the buying/selling price using HLeBroking?
Let say when maybank falls until RM7, system auto help me buy X lot
Or the other way round, when maybank up RM8, auto sell X lot

Tq

23rd April is Thursday. T+2 settlement means the cash should only come in on Monday 27th April because the weekends don't count.

Not a good move to freeze account. Instead what they should do is don't allow the new account holders to go on margin/contra and no short selling or oil futures. Problem solve.

Where got people working on weekend. They are working on office hour. And as mentioned T+2 also no reached yet, but u should have the margin to purschase future but if want withdraw may need wait till Tuesday.

Btw do have bad experience with them. Only reply email at 5pm. Call in also ask to email and complaint, told will reply in email...

Worse is the customer service hang my call at 530pm at the middle of conversion. And no one call back next day.
End Up transfer all out. No TRUST.

Wondering about the same thing too, any sifu can clarify on this?
Is the 30k withdrawal limit a daily or monthly limit?

BTW if anyone new wants to create a Rakuten Trade account do PM me or drop me a message on whatsapp (much faster response) to get a referral code for free 500RT points upon activation!

FromRakuten Withdrawal FAQ:-

What is the maximum amount for a withdrawal?
There is no maximum amount for withdrawals. However, your account should have minimum balance of RM10 to keep your account active

I would suggest you to check with Rakuten directly.

No TRUST.

So I did my first stock purchase today. Made a wee bit of profit selling back on the same day.

I noticed that I can setup price alerts. But is it possible to setup a stop loss order in the system?

U have to fill up new forms and declarations. I think it's available on the website or you can email and ask for it. I then submitted them to the HQ. The nextt few days, global trading was activated.
