Yup, I was surprised when I saw a Canon counter around the ticketing counter for the Canon users too. But no doubt, Canon is one of the big sponsor for this event.

2470 mid range, all can be well extracted ma. But I saw a guy using 70200 in a very close range, trolololol.

And nikon is just like a beast sleeping deep in the abyss sad.gif

Correct term is, Nikon Malaysia is the one slacking off. Nikon Singapore is very active... the previous auto saloon I went at Singapore had a Nikon booth where you can borrow gears for shooting!

Hey buddy! biggrin.gif

Windows

-Click the Windows: "I agree - Begin download" icon below and choose SAVE. Save F-D7000-V103W.exe to the folder created in step 1.

-Open the folder created in step 1 and double-click the F-D7000-V103W.exe to create the folder titled D7000Update, containing the following file: - D7000_0103.bin: the firmware.

-After transferring off all images, format a memory card inside the camera, then remove the card from the camera and use a memory card reader to copy D7000_0103.bin to the memory card.

-Re- insert the memory card containing the downloaded firmware into the camera's memory slot 1 and turn on the camera. Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed to upgrade the camera's firmware.

http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/de...%3A1.03-upgrade

I hope this helps wink.gif Yes you need a card reader!

Not HDR, just one shot.

For Dave Hill kinda effect, that only can be done through PP. I think I've bumped into some presets on deviantart before, you might wanna have a look there. I found this quite informative:

thanks bro but tried that before. problem with most tutorials out there is when they require you to do unmask sharpen, it kills the quality of the picture. by the way, nice pic biggrin.gif

On the 300mm f/4, you have a limiter focus switch which prevents it from hunting. Did you use it? It gives the option of full range of focus or focus from 10 feet (3m) to infinity.

The newer one (AF-S) is the bottom one. Picture borrowed from Thom Hogan's website.

The top one is the older AF-D and very much slower focus.

thanks bro but tried that before. problem with most tutorials out there is when they require you to do unmask sharpen, it kills the quality of the picture. by the way, nice pic  biggrin.gif

LOL 50GB worth of JPEG?  laugh.gif

Nice capture and timing.

I'm using Nikon D5100 , were try to add on some accessories.
Does the extra battery pack useful? I'm not really a heavy user.
But it looks seriously huge and gorgeous to have a bigger camera. LOL.

i think is hot pixel...not dust spot...let said i wants to capture the night landscape of the moon...using 3 second shutter speed, Wb 5600k , Apeture 5.6 , and iso 800 in D200...is a good idea??
*
ISO too high, try keep your ISO as low as possible, white balance doesn't matter if you shoot raw

there is a formula to apply when doing astrography, 600/focal length and you get the right shutter speed for sharp shot because the earth is rotating

u know , sometime after frame the subject , we can't 100% get straight line photo , sometime crop and adjust the Angle to be straight enough , if fill too tight then got no space to crop anymore

Focus points?
Should be grid isn't it?

But to get 100% straight is not easy, also depends your shooting angle; And if you're shooting events, it's even harder to get straight (not to mention even 100%).

ya and seems D400 will be priced more than D600 if D600 is even true...
so D400 is the mini-D4 DX version.
while D600 is like the FX version of D3200? tongue.gif

From the looks of it, the D400 seems more deadly than D4 for sports photography especially when long reach is required. More megapixels still able to sustain 9fps. Sweet... But sadly I'm more of a FF guy haha... >_<

unless it's an experience and reputable shop.
you are using a d700 for christ sake. and you cant afford to send it to an authorise service centre for a sensor cleaning?
what if they accidentally scratch your sensor due to lack of 'practice' in cleaning sensor?

Nikon claimed that it can do 100 RAW or 200 JPEGs in one burst and that is with the new XQD card. Field test proven that it can go up to 76 RAW (14-bit) in one burst. I find that Nikon made a mistake to put in XQD in D4. Having a good feeling that in D4s (if there is) Nikon might put back 2 CF slots. The whole XQD thing is a deja vu of Microdrive in the early days of CF.

Sandisk and Lexar are not going to make XQD cards and only maker is Sony as the XQD group consist of Sony, Nikon. This leave the future of QXD in question on adaption and their initial plan of replacing Compact Flash. Nikon were grateful enough to provide free 16GB XQD card and a XQD reader for the early D4 buyers but to consider on buying more XQD cards will not be a smart move for now.

Update : Nikon have just announced 2 new lenses : 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR DX and the 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S VR. Read more here : http://www.nikonusa.com/About-Nikon/Press-...mm-VR-Lens.html

Personally I am more interested in the 24-85mm as once regarded as a poor man's 28-70mm or 24-70mm. Nikon had a few versions of this but seeing it with VR added means it might be a kitlens to a new FF body. Expected price for it is RM1800 (direct conversion of USD599.95) while the 18-300mm will be priced at RM3100 (direct conversion from USD999.95)

XQD isn't in good trend... I expect it will be dropped off in the near future perhaps... wrong move by Nikon this time... unless their D800/D800E and stuffs all using XQD then there may be more market than currently only the D4.

why not? d7k body rm3k compared to d600 which most probably rm6k.
same like why ppl still buy d300s when d700.
d400 vs d600 also depends on target crowd.
for sure d400 will have faster AF, and those ppl who want the crop range will sure go for it.

The D600 will be a FF without built-in motor, so you would need lenses with built-in motor

I believe the D600 is rumoured to have a built-in motor. The pics of the leaked D600 contain images of the D600 body together with the AF 50mm f/1.4D lens.

Its proven, D600 will have build in motor. Leaked images in nikonrumors shows that it have 50mm f/1.4D mounted and open body shots with body motor drive @ lens bayonet.

Basically, lighting won't change that much most of the time... but having used to shoot manual I more or less know how to meter it. I meter with single point to meter dark and bright areas.

beware of that seller.
look at every thread of that seller sure got the user nhl post something.
its like those 2 are working together to trick users to think that the seller is good.

plus at that price i wouldnt think it'll be ori...got sellers before selling also around RM350 which was confirm fake.

Added on June 15, 2012, 7:38 pmanyway, the only way to really go is to try.
if the control dials are reversed, then confirm fake.
then go google nikon site got show how to differentiate fake also.

SLS for the timeless classic look. Lambos are futuristic devil machines. I love both.

Have you seen the price tag for raventon? plus there's only 20 in production so...yeah laugh.gif
If you count the one kept by the Lamborghini museum (number 0/20), it's 21 then.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jun 15 2012, 02:04 PM)
Cause it is super limited edition ride... Reventon based on Murcielargo and Reventon Spyder based on Super Veloce. That Super Import Night la... people tell me got Reventon on display so I purposed travel to Singapore for that event... mana tau is just a RX8 with Reventon skirtings -.-
LOL laugh.gif

Anyway, there are no Reventons in Singapore. Only Reventon Roadsters which they have 4 out of the 15 made worldwide. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(gnome @ Jun 15 2012, 02:07 PM)
Well you never know la...even the limited Maserati MC-12 also quite rare but Naza somehow got one in their showrooms and that car not cheap either sweat.gif

Just have to know where to throw the cash at i guess tongue.gif
The MC-12 which is based on the Enzo is not so much sought after.

Kindly advise

DO NOT buy from them as those grips ARE NOT original. They are fakes from China. The picture shown in the thread are original but you will receive fake ones. Same price, same post in Photomalaysia as well.

Err, I'm not holding on to anything, just pan as usual just using wider lens and no, I'm not using flash. SB900 8fps? tongue.gif Don't think can handle man. If using flash, will see shadow trails of the SC430.

For the Nismo GT-R shot, I think I cropped. Most of the shots I had to crop :S...

The RQ holding #69 looks like Japanese, but can't get her info though... ThunderRacing Asia is a wild card and their team not listed on the program book =/ no info on their RQ. That team is just too slow compared to the other GT300... retired halfway of the race due to no chance of keeping up LOL.

Haha! Jus stick with what we have is the best tongue.gif

Ahh I was wondering do you have a c90 on your light meter(just right above ss 1/1000) for my camera..

It gets really annoying when the meter jumps to c90 randomly when I shoot in aperture mode( no its not overexposed!) cause when I shift back to manual the meter jumps back to the actual shuttespeed for the proper exposure! Arghhh

Nikon is expected to release a second D800 firmware update as early as this week (not sure about the exact date). Some of the potential fixes are:

*Nikon Japan acknowledged the D800 wireless flash trigger problem and offered a work around - this usually means that a fix will be provided with the next firmware update.
*There are some rumors that Nikon may also provide a fix for the green cast present in the D4/D800 LCD screen and will reset the color profile to look like the D700/D3s.
*I keep getting reports on the Nikon D800/E focusing issue. As far as I know Nikon has not yet recognized this as a bug. Here is video with detailed testing describing the problem:

The photographer is fine! He is a nikon shooter but currently he is in syria as photo journalist and the publishing company gave him a canon system if i am not mistaken.
Blood was shed while taking the photos and found out there were blood on his camera and whole body as well!

Well it is kinda bloody in Syria ever since the protest and the government killed a few of the protestors which lead in to a massive killing situation now in Syria.. Hopefully all would turn out well! Thousands have died unsure.gif

Just enjoy life as it and pray that our nation would not be another Syria sad.gif

I sold my 24-70mm for 28-70mm and now have a little extra cash for 35-70mm, hoping to own it again for walk around purpose biggrin.gif

Used to own the 35-70mm but I sold it for 18-70mm when I came back to photography career again. Love the sharpness and the size of it.

Very hard to pick out just one because I like them all for different occasions. The last 4 lenses are my favourites among lenses with aperture rings. I have other favourites as well (G lenses) not listed. The first 3, I already have their G replacements that cover those focal ranges.

If I had to pick out just one, it would be the AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 because I happen to use it a lot. Now I'm using the 85mm f/1.4 and the 135mm f/2.0 more often since the D800 now gives a faster and more accurate focus lock on all the cross and non-cross sensors with these older lenses if compared to the D700.

p/s: Forgot that I also have the AF 50mm f/1.8D with aperture ring. Not a favourite since the FOV is something I'm not comfortable.

I think I need a PW so hopefully this wont happen again

My D800 didn't trigger the wireless CLS while doing some photoshoot tonight! Almost pengsan! It did trigger but not 100%

I think I need a PW so hopefully this wont happen again

Aiyak, I heard about some CLS issue on the D800 actually it isn't fixed yet. And then again when D800 came out earlier, I know the PW isn't working with it... FlexTT5 system at least. Should have some firmware upgraded now I guess?

Yup, that's the first thing I noticed too besides the slight underexposure. At 27mm, the left and right girls' faces are slightly distorted.

I thought at the 27mm end there would be lil or no distortion.. Cause I've read somewhere that distortion can be really noticeable at 20 and below!

Thanks alot! ;D More pics to come after I reach back home!

due to the fact that the 24-85 were in the market for a long long time. Putting VR might not interest many FX users as many of them already had one in their off-duty bag. Many had the f/3.5-4.5 one than the f/2.8-4

VR on 24-85 is just a side show to make it look more tempting.
the main thing is they have obviously upgraded the optics.
if they didnt put VR, i can bet u way way more ppl will complain why got no VR.

the basics of cos is to try to get white looking white, or black is black.
ur color dropper or matcher or whatever u use will of cos help.

so for that monster hand girl, is the blouse white / red? cos color says its a very light grey.
also would look nicer if the flash on the left is higher up, so you can get hair light on top instead of hotspot on her butt.

Hmmm thanks!

I'll have a look at it.. That was what I was aiming for but didn't manage to get that rim light on her hair due to space constraint and didn't have any assistant on site.. But nevertheless it's still my fault!

Look at the histogram particularly on the skin tones..

Hahaha! Ill be editing later again.. Now im going out for futsal! >.<

Skin tone is weird, WB? Or something else?

Did you apply noise reduction? Seems the face have some watercolor effect, usually caused by noise reduction, or is it the makeup?
Or possibly loosing clarity? Can try pump in some clarify as see.

hmm..saw u posting this model shooting for a new designer from France right? honestly speaking, i dont feel the 'umphh'. pardon me saying this, but the lighting is kinda bad. is it direct flashing? try using some light modifiers. and the exposure can be better too. skin tones as well. n looking at the body ur using, u can do so much better.

just my 2cents smile.gif there's always room for improvement for all of us! thumbup.gif

Great observation!

Yea I did lose the clairty at the face thought of softening the skin..
Some NR was applied.. Was shot at 1000 ISO.
I'm not to sure about the makeup, I'm not experience in that field..

I get where you're coming from ;D

Hmm from that picture above

Was a SB 910 with a shoot through umbrella on the right as they key
A SB700 bouncing off a White reflector on the left as fill
and another sb700 behind of the models for that setup..

Much to learn! Hopefully could see much improvement over the months? biggrin.gif

Thanks! rclxms.gif

I'm also not experience with makeup; The real person face is it look like this?
Can try pump up the clarity and see whether can improve the watercolor painting look and also set the NR to none first.

Skin tones could be due to WB or due to in shaded area, seems got green tint or something. Try play around with WB, or try adjust specific color.

Is the 90mbps and 60mbps speed very significant jchue? I'm still undecided >.<

Maybe this shows nikons inconsistency in Qc that's why the small margin of .1 EV or maybe inconsistency in the test of dxo

Still a small margin thou haha

Thanks~

I kind of prefer the top one as well, for the same reason, but the bottom one, in overall, gives more, erm... the mood? And the lights looks nicer as well (also from someone else comment the reason why she prefer the bottom one). As for the top one, the details more clear (e.g. the word "Beyond First Class").

How to decide which is better when both also you like? hmm.gif

it's not like one is better than the other actually.. it's which feel you want to portray.. the top one would make the front car more stand out.. so it helps on the composition wise.. it made the front car the main subject..

meanwhile, the bottom one have a general good overall.. maybe because it was too good at overall, that i don't know where to focus my eyes on.. especially when i look at the white car (which is suppose to be the main subject if i follow the composition rule) i will feel i wanna look at the back also.. cuz back also quite interesting..

the top picture just makes me want to look at the white car

I think there is more blue cast on the hood of the car bottom which makes the car on top stands out a lil more..

But i love the sky on the bottom picture more depth in it

Thanks~ Nice pointer there, which I totally miss out.

When I ask my non-photography friends, seems most of them prefer the bottom ones.
If for me, your point is very good there, which I want to potray, to bring attention to the car.
Just that, if it's for someone else, what if they prefer the bottom one, should we show the bottom one or top one? tongue.gif

2nd one.
1st one seems over abit, and brings out abit more noise too.

Added on June 23, 2012, 12:38 pmif ur concern is about the car.
you can crop tighter and still include the spot light on the left...tho about 10% of it will be cut off...but the effect is still there.
that way also u get rid of those ppl standing around on the left side.

I believe both D800 and 800E are identical,
apart from the removed-AA filter wise.

The lens that has least distortions, nevertheless, you could always PP the pictures to correct distortions

My vote will be a prime lens

anything at least 50mm onwards, or something that can control it like those perspective control / tilt shift lenses.
obviously if indoors, then ur going to run out of space with a 50mm...thats where those wider PC lenses help.

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jun 23 2012, 03:23 PM)
which lens is good for taking architecture building? wide lens? 14-24mm?
*
For architecture building, tilt shift is the best in the class for architecture shots. My suggestion is 11-16mm Tokina if you are on DX body. I have seen some commercial architecture shots done with DX body and the tokina lens. I have not try the 14-24mm before so I cant comment much on that lens.

Update : I have emailed about the TTA media pass. Still waiting for reply. Hoping for a respond on the next 5 working days biggrin.gif

from what i know, if the lens got aspherical elements in it then it will have very little distortion even though it is wide angle

when is time-to-attack ar? got the website?

Ah since you have the option to go for the 12-24mm (sorry for the typo earlier) Go for it. I managed to ask a couple of friends who have the lens and said that the distortion are well controlled for correction purpose and here is the link for you to judge it goodness

The 14-24mm is another good lens to consider too despite the huge front element. It can be still consider as wide angle on DX body.

either 12-24mm or the 14mm or the 18mm manual-yum yum

if its too wide can always crop, on the 14mm, use your legs to zoom, since you are taking buildings and stuff, they will not run away or the light won't suddenly switch off

with the first 2 , you need to watchout for distortions and probably do PP to correct it, it may sometimes come in handy to have that little fisheye_esque effect, although you could also get this effect done on the D5100.....

i had a D5100 before and with the 12-24mm ( now selling) , you can certainly get some nice if not awesome shots if framed carefully and properly.

u focus on the eye at f2.8, u take the photo at 2.8. the eye is sharp
but same focus at the same aperture and this time you changed the aperture to 5.6, wanting a greater depth of field, the eye is no longer sharp. it has shifted to the eye lashes (for example)

that is focus shift
it's not a problem if you just take photo and upload it here or fb or flickr. it's a problem if you take photo and print it or use it to buy food

I see, this only happen on specific camera body or the lens itself has this problem, no matter which body we put it in?
