How to differentiate AP and NIKON MALAYSIA warranty set.

All Nikon Malaysia set comes with warranty card like this


The wording NIKON MALAYSIA SDN. BHD on the warranty card is the best way to identify whether it's a genuine local set.

Second hand lens/dslr buying guide.

Firstly, check the outlook for both Body and Lens, if you're happy with it, then proceed to the next stepsssss. 

For the Body:
1. check the Shutter Count, the lower the SC, the better it is, just like a car's milage. Google has a clearer explanation.
2. if the Body has motor and top LCD, make sure they both work well, it's sux if the motor doesn't work, it's sux if the top LCD can't light up.
3. test the Body with various memory cards, you don't want to have error while shooting, don't you? (sometimes it's the memory card that give trouble)
4. test Continuous shoot, will the shutter jam? 
5. basically you'll have to test everything, every single functions and settings of the body, like ISO, pop-up flash, the condition of hot shoe, the buttons etc etc

As for the lens:
1. it's important that the rubber is still firm.
2. make sure it works on more than ONE Bodies.
3. play with aperture, the zoom if it has, play with it like a toy.
4. if the lens got dust and fungus inside, you can send it for cleaning.
5. if the contact points are dirty, gently use eraser to clean it.
6. if the lens is AF-S, make sure the motor inside is silent while auto focusing, no loud squeaky sound.

hi d7000 owners,

do any of u suffer from blur images taken with d7000?

it seems that a number of pictures that i took even with high shutter speed/VR on/flash appear not sharp...

a number of my images appear like the last picture in this thread:

my ex nikon d40 with the same lens appear sharper when i pixel peep at 100%...

Mine suffer from front focus issue, but yours seems different from your description in the page, which is kind of wierd, especially the one shot at very high shutter speed, seems there's obvious shake?

im unsure whether i have front focusing issue too...
have to test more first...
if i go BTS, will they entertain me if i do not have strong proof?

28mm at the widest end....aiyo..even my tx 10 is can shoot wider..what was nikon thinking...

nikon recommends VR to be OFF at anything over 1/500s, thom hogan says 1/250s.
and what lens are u using? the 18-105 kit lens? if so, try something else, like borrow a cheap 50mm f/1.8d and stop it down to f/2.8 and test the sharpness.

is that safe if i put my camera when not using it in the box like this, with a few silica gel

Nope..

At least get a plastic box from pasar malam/Jusco/Tesco/Carrefour. And you would need a Thirsty Hippo too. A 'few' silica gel won't work.

Keep showing this... clearly the photographer doesn't understand the concept and proper way to do. It's not the technique problem, it's the photographer.
