The seller tell me that APO means got stabilizer and he said that telephoto lens sure got shake even with Nikon's VR zz
*
Hey eugene!
The seller is obviously lying..

1st of all

APO stands for

APO (Apochromatic )
In order to attain the highest quality images, the APO lens has been made using special low-dispersion (SLD) glass and is designed to minimize color aberration.

and for Sigma's version of Nikon's VR is "OS"

OS (Optical Stabilizer Function)
This function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating camera movement when shooting by hand held camera.

This is according to Sigma... Have you changed the lens yet?

I think APO is similar to Nikon's UD element? Or maybe the Nano coat.

the VC work but u need to give it some time to settle down. but with this focal range, most of the time i turn if off.
IQ wise i cant really tell much because i just in photography not long ago.

Added on July 5, 2012, 8:39 pmThats why i would rather buy lens based on own test, online review or peer recommendation. Listen to those sales man said, but dont give a too much damm to it.

Note: Kenrockwell will ask u to buy anything.

IQ wise, according to reputable review sites, the non-VC has slight edge, especially in terms of sharpness.

For the VC, the worrying part is the VC component fail, but the VC will be very useful especially if you also do video, which I will be needing it soon cry.gif

Don't bother what he says, just get it replace since he agrees to it. If he says the lens is so great, then he should be happy to allow you to replace and refund you the additional money.
