Yesterday, i went to ATM to check the balance in my PB visa Electron Debit Card. i still have RM266 in my debit card and authorized charges of Rm188. i tried to transfer rm200 into other account but failed and it seemed like if i exceed the limit of the charges, i can't transfer my money. Anyone can clarify more about the authorized charges? is it the same as the annual fees? can i get my money back if i cancel my debit card? thank you.

That is your available balance...Until the authorized transaction is reversed.

Authorized means "locking" aka reserving your credit.

I am very sure that there will be 0.5% admin fee for all transactions involving any other currency other than MYR. The thing is, there is no detailed statement for debit card. However, for those using their credit card, it is written clearly at the back of the statement that there will be 0.5% admin fee for foreign transaction.

2. put definition/differentiate debit and prepaid (debit - must have acc (savings/debit/current), prepaid - no need bank acc).

How does the Maybank MSOS work? I went to update my TAC number few days ago at Maybank branch, and they say MSOS is not needed anymore? If that is so, then why do I still get errors when purchasing stuff online? I'm using Maybank Visa Debit Card.

I'm using MSOS. Was updated to it automatically but my transaction seems to be always unsuccessful. I'm using the debit card as well. After two days of trying I used another bank's credit card instead got it got through on my first try.

Talk about implementing extra security.

i have tried my maybank debit card but it is always a success when doing transaction with google checkout

For me it works, maybank sends the code to my phone n i just type in when requested

which debit card got rebates for petrol?my main reason to get a debit card is for pump petrol

if u, have rm20k, then go open alliance hybrid account, and u will get platinum mastercard.
the card give 1.5% cashback on everything, max swipe for cashback is rm6k/month.
(the money can be withdraw back rm5k/day, incase u dont want to leave it there). annual fee rm12.

if dont have rm20k, then just open normal alliance savings acc (deposit rm20 only).
u will get normal debit mastercard. this card give 1%, max swipe for cashback is rm3k/month, rm12 annual fee.

or, if u just pump esso/mobil only, then go for public bank esso/mobil debit, 1% for esso/mobil. no annual fee.

yesterday i purchase 2x $0.99 now my credit is deduce rm9.51 it suppose rm7++ only right? =.=!!!

pls refer to the exchange rate set by visa / mastercard and some fee may apply for overseas transaction

check already after fee+exchange rate it should be rm7-8.i buy 1st $0.99 it automatic deduce rm9.51 then i buy second app its not deduce any amount.

if possible get a CC, benefit will be much better than debit card
p/s: my debit card has been in drawer since i got my CC

i read this on last fri.

disadvantages:
1. joining rm10
2. annual rm5
3. ATM withdrawals rm6/transaction
4. as u said, using this card to purchase airasia flights, got convenience fee
5. as u said, rm2 = 1 point, but that is only for AirAsia flights + Add Ons! if flights only, then rm4 = 1 point
(i give u guys a trick here, i usually buy flights using m2u, then add-on with amex to get 5x points and no fee )
6. points valid for 36 months only

cannot view how many points to redeem a flight yet (available on 11/11).
but for airasia voucher, rm10 need 800 points (rm1600).

It's RM4 now for withdrawal done through local bank's ATM for all HSBC regular banking customers.

for point no 5 how did you done the add on?

after booking is confirmed (ticket only),

1. go to manage my booking
2. login
3. modify (right-side) of ur booking
4. click at Baggage, meals, comfort kit, sports equipment & entertainment
5. add (select) Baggage
6. click Update Details button
7. Confirm changes
8. choose pay by credit card

I'm not familiar with CC and DBs. If I have a debit card with MYR loaded inside, can it be used to purchase items with USD? Or I need to load it with USD before purchasing?

no need usd. u can just purchase usd online and bank will convert into myr. just make sure u have enough money after convert.

btw cimb debit card seems dont have benefits.
u can go for debit card that offer cashback or points.

btw for mbb, from their website, stated:

Cash withdrawal isn't a problem. The frustrating this with using the Cherry card overseas is sometimes it gets declined for no apparent reason. Most of the big shops/restaurants are ok, just a few random small ones gets declined at times. One thing to be careful though, do check if your magnetic stripe is in good condition, the last thing u want to happen is the stripe gets damaged. I had a friend with me who used PBB's Esso Debit Card and his did not get declined anywhere though

All cards charge a certain fee in addition to the Visa exchange rate. MBB Visa Debit (Cherry) has one of the lowest rates around, ~ 0.5 %

I have been using Public Bank, Maybank and Hong Leong's debit card. For me the best debit card is still by Public Bank. As long as there is money in your account, the transaction will get approved no matter what.

For Maybank depends on luck, sometimes can, sometimes cannot. Hong Leong is the worse. Buy Yes credits cannot, validate paypal also cannot, buy apple apps also cannot.

I heard about the PB Esso debit card. Plan to change to that to save some points since I always visit Esso.

Well I have no idea what is wrong with my card actually. I called the card services they tell me the card savings account is invalid or got error. Previously I was able to purchase steam games. I visited their branch last week and they told me everything is fine and the account number was correct.

No idea.

CIMB Bank now offers a debit MasterCard that is linked to your savings or current account, à la Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and Maybank Cherry VISA debit card.

got annual fee, rm8. A big no no

this card is actually for current cimb atm card holder (since rm8 is annual fee for the atm card).

no need to carry 1 atm card + 1 debit mastercard.
and no need to add money 1st using cimblicks (current atm acc) into debit) anymore ~

Can open a basic savings account with them. Not sure if this debit MasterCard can be linked to the non-fee basic savings account though.

I have two savings accounts at CIMB Bank. One is a Basic Savings Account (non-fee) and another one is an Air Asia Savers Account. Plan to get the this new CIMB Bank debit MasterCard for my Air Asia Savers Account.


I think the old standalone debit MasterCard is no longer offered. Can anyone confirm ?

Have to call CS to ask whether the annual fee can waived or not OR link to non-fee saving account.

I sent them a secured message last night. Hope to hear from them by tomorrow. Since this card is linked to savings or current account just like PBB D2D VISA and MBB Cherry VISA, i think the chance of getting the annual fee waived is almost non-existence

I went through its terms and conditions briefly and there was nothing mentioned about online purchases. On another note, regarding the cash back, I'm not sure if it is going to stay after the promotion/contest is over. (I'm assuming here since it says that the cash back returns will be credited into the bank account 3 weeks AFTER each contest phase, which I take to mean it's not a monthly thing.)

Converted my cimb bankcard into the new debit card, charged RM8, nothing special on the design of the card thou.

It is just a promotion, not a permanent feature of the card.

It's Air Asia Savers Account. Yeah, i am paying RM8/pa for the ATM card which is fine with me because the interest rate for this account is 1.60% + free RM5/month if my average monthly balance is no less than RM5,000 with no over the counter transaction.

This Air Asia Savers Account was my primary daily transaction account until Maybank came up with this M2U Savers account a few months ago. I usually keep around RM5,100 in my Air Asia Savers Account and the rest of my money in M2U Savers account which gives me 2.10% interest

No. There will be no annual fee to pay then. However, without the ATM card, you won't be able to transfer money out online.

1. is anybody using this card? Digi prepaid mastercard Digi Mastercard

it says no joining/annual fees. can top up by CDM and can withdraw from any ATM also. (withdraw from Alliance bank ATM is free)

but cardholders name not embossed on the card.


2. i am looking for a PREPAID card that will have my name embossed on the card and also i can withdraw cash from ATM for free or just RM1. And the top up process should be easy and convenient.

im using CIMB eMastercard which is weird cause i can top up but cant withdraw cash other than Giant hypermarkets.

im also using Maybank cherry but it doesnt have my name on it.

i know i can get a debit card from public bank or any other bank with my name on it but right now i dont want to open another bank account. i already got two.

thats why im looking for a Prepaid card. i dont need any cashback or rebate points.


3. This is a off topic question. but does anybody know which bank in malaysia offers 24 hours online banking service? (both CIMB and Maybank are out of service from 12AM for few hours for maintenance)
