Loss in forex and 0.5% admin fee imposed by Maybank.

Quoted from Debit Card V2 thread regarding my question on "1) Let say i would like to purchase something through Amazon, will there be additional charges to it in USD?"

Loss in forex as in base on this m2u forex rates or i base on this Visa Exchange website?

So there is additional admin fee of 0.5% is it? Yesterday just went to change my withdrawal transaction fee, they told me don't have additional charges if i purchase online. Could someone please kindly give me the link showing the 0.5% admin fee needed for online purchases?

Thanks again for all the help given people! Appreciate it.

I am very sure that there will be 0.5% admin fee for all transactions involving any other currency other than MYR. The thing is, there is no detailed statement for debit card. However, for those using their credit card, it is written clearly at the back of the statement that there will be 0.5% admin fee for foreign transaction.

Thanks Miles. Regarding the conversion rate, anyone know which one should i use? m2u rates or visa rates?

Hello all, I have a question regarding Maybank Visa Debit Card. I've made an online transaction which is in US currency. So to check the conversion rate, is to go to the visa exchange rate to check right? If i remember correctly, Maybank charged 0.5% as fee isn't it? How come the amount charged from my bank account doesn't match the visa exchange rate?

Thanks in advance

Just to update this matter. The currency rate charged is base on Maybank website already. It does not refer to visa exchange rate website anymore

Is it truth and hope someone could double confirm it...

The way I confirmed it is by calling the Maybank 24 hour customer service, 1-300-88-6688. The assistance even guide me to the website to check the rate. You can't check the rate on weekends. Here's the link

Based on SELLING TT/OD or SELLING Currency Notes ?

I did not ask the assistance but based on my transactions and manual calculations, it is nearly same with SELLING TT/OD.

Guys, for CIMB Debit Card MasterCard, when i purchase something from oversea, let say, USD, where can i check the rate that it is using?

Last time for M2U, they used Visa website, then not sure when, it use its own m2u forex rate.

So not sure for CIMB case. Hope for someone to confirm! Thanks in advance!

hmm.gif I checked mastercard website currency conversion, it only shows up to 6th March. But never mind i go ahead and purchase something.

When first enter iOS payment info, it will hold 1USD and i received notification that RM3.99 has been charged!

Now if the rate CIMB mastercard used is 3.99... that's rip off!!

Well find out these few days time with CIMB after they confirm charge me at RM3.99!

Hmm for CIMB debit card, i don't really like that the foreign rate they use is 3 days after u purchase/when your merchant collects payment from ur bank. This kinda sucks. Maybank debit card uses rate on the spot u purchase @@
