Quoted from Debit Card V2 thread regarding my question on "1) Let say i would like to purchase something through Amazon, will there be additional charges to it in USD?"

Loss in forex as in base on this m2u forex rates or i base on this Visa Exchange website?

So there is additional admin fee of 0.5% is it? Yesterday just went to change my withdrawal transaction fee, they told me don't have additional charges if i purchase online. Could someone please kindly give me the link showing the 0.5% admin fee needed for online purchases?

Thanks again for all the help given people! Appreciate it.
I am very sure that there will be 0.5% admin fee for all transactions involving any other currency other than MYR. The thing is, there is no detailed statement for debit card. However, for those using their credit card, it is written clearly at the back of the statement that there will be 0.5% admin fee for foreign transaction.

CIMB Bank now offers a debit MasterCard that is linked to your savings or current account, à la Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card and Maybank Cherry VISA debit card.

got annual fee, rm8. A big no no
Can open a basic savings account with them. Not sure if this debit MasterCard can be linked to the non-fee basic savings account though.

I have two savings accounts at CIMB Bank. One is a Basic Savings Account (non-fee) and another one is an Air Asia Savers Account. Plan to get the this new CIMB Bank debit MasterCard for my Air Asia Savers Account.

QUOTE(erry- @ Nov 9 2011, 02:58 PM)
this card is actually for current cimb atm card holder (since rm8 is annual fee for the atm card).

no need to carry 1 atm card + 1 debit mastercard.
and no need to add money 1st using cimblicks (current atm acc) into debit) anymore ~

notworthy.gif
I think the old standalone debit MasterCard is no longer offered. Can anyone confirm ?

Have to call CS to ask whether the annual fee can waived or not OR link to non-fee saving account.
I sent them a secured message last night. Hope to hear from them by tomorrow. Since this card is linked to savings or current account just like PBB D2D VISA and MBB Cherry VISA, i think the chance of getting the annual fee waived is almost non-existence sad.gif

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Nov 9 2011, 03:37 PM)
The eMastercard link is still there.
Noted. The design of eMasterCard is much nicer, imo.

I went through its terms and conditions briefly and there was nothing mentioned about online purchases. On another note, regarding the cash back, I'm not sure if it is going to stay after the promotion/contest is over. (I'm assuming here since it says that the cash back returns will be credited into the bank account 3 weeks AFTER each contest phase, which I take to mean it's not a monthly thing.)
It is just a promotion, not a permanent feature of the card.

Converted my cimb bankcard into the new debit card, charged RM8, nothing special on the design of the card thou.
They are waiving the card conversion fee starting today until further notice.

great. Time to go there to change my ATM card to debit card. one more thing to ask you which is out of topic, for ur cimb airasia eSaver account, is there any annual fee for that ?
It's Air Asia Savers Account. Yeah, i am paying RM8/pa for the ATM card which is fine with me because the interest rate for this account is 1.60% + free RM5/month if my average monthly balance is no less than RM5,000 with no over the counter transaction.

This Air Asia Savers Account was my primary daily transaction account until Maybank came up with this M2U Savers account a few months ago. I usually keep around RM5,100 in my Air Asia Savers Account and the rest of my money in M2U Savers account which gives me 2.10% interest rclxms.gif

No. There will be no annual fee to pay then. However, without the ATM card, you won't be able to transfer money out online.

Without an ATM card or debit card linked to this Air Asia Savers Account of yours ? No. You can't. Just can transfer money into the account but you can't transfer money out of the account, be it online or over the ATM. CIMB Bank online banking works a bit differently compared to other banks.

QUOTE(MGM @ Nov 11 2011, 02:03 PM)
M&M do you know that CIMB has a CA called Money Multiplier with 2.5% int with features like:
High Daily Interest - Daily interest will be paid on entire daily balances provided the balance exceeds RM10,000 on any given day. Interest will be accrued on the entire balance at the published rate, compounded monthly.

3 FREE withdrawals a month (subsequent withdrawals would be charged RM5).
Withdrawal flexibility - withdrawal / debit can be made through cheques, ATM or over the internet. Customers will be issued ATM card and cheque book.

No monthly maintenance fee.

Yes. I am aware of this account. However, it is not suitable for me because i do not keep that much cash in my CASA. Besides, one is only eligible to earn the 2.50% interest if he/she maintains an average monthly balance of more than RM10,000 which is too high in my opinion. It may suits those businessmen but not me.

I am actually interested in their CIMB Preferred Account but i am not a CIMB Preferred customer. I emailed their CS a while back and was told that the half yearly service charge for this account can be waived. All i need to do is to contact my Preferred RM.

im also using Maybank cherry but it doesnt have my name on it.

i know i can get a debit card from public bank or any other bank with my name on it but right now i dont want to open another bank account. i already got two.

thats why im looking for a Prepaid card. i dont need any cashback or rebate points.
I'm afraid getting a Public Bank standalone debit card is your only choice. Anyway, getting a prepaid card is already like having one account. The account number for prepaid card is the 16-digit printed/embossed on the front of the card.

Public bank offers many types of standalone debit card. The best one would be Public Bank ESSO VISA debit card. There is no separate account for this card. The account number for this card is the 16-digit printed on the front.

3. This is a off topic question. but does anybody know which bank in malaysia offers 24 hours online banking service? (both CIMB and Maybank are out of service from 12AM for few hours for maintenance)
HSBC, Citibank, OCBC Bank etc. Public bank offers 24 hours online banking too but certain types of transaction is blocked between 12am - 6am.

By the way, Maybank online banking goes offline everyday between 12am - 1am only. You can use your Maybank2u as usual after 1am everyday.

NOoooooo.... Can i request for a refund ? 8 sounds not much, but can pay 1 year of the annual fee leh  ....
I have no idea. This happened to me before. It was Public Bank. I changed to the new PBB D2D VISA debit card soon after it was introduced and paid RM12 for the card conversion but guess what ? I saw this notice on their ATM that we can convert from a normal ATM card to the new D2D VISA debit card just a few weeks later doh.gif

By the way, i went to CIMB Bank just now and was told that they haven't received the new CIMB Bank Debit MasterCard. Wasted my petrol and parking fee just to go there and got nothing doh.gif

Err got a question here, im 15 and today i went to maybank to apply for a imteen account + maybank visa debit.. but the aunty there say "U kenot apply fo tis card lah, onli 18 and abov". i keep ask her to re-check but she keep reply wif the same thing ~.~

But the website said maybank visa debit can be applied for imteen account which is 12-18 yrs old? *sweat*
That aunty is wrong. Anyway, instead of a imteen account, you can open a regular savings account straight away. They will need your one of your parents to sign a consent form in order to issue either an ATM card or VISA debit card to you.

Just noticed the benefits of imteen account. Anyway, this account will do too. Your parents will have to be with you too when applying for the ATM/VISA debit card. Print THIS page and show it to the aunty.

No. He is not. He is using the CIMB eMasterCard.

CIMB debit MasterCard was introduced just last week. It is possible that this card can't be used for online transaction, not now anyway.

Which Debit Card suggested to use with Paypal ? Currently I already have Public Bank Day2Day Debit Card and Maybank Cherry Debit Card
If you are going to make payment through Paypal in MYR, then Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card is better. However, if you the payment amount is in foreign currency, then Maybank Cherry VISA debit card is better as Maybankard's foreign exchange rate is lower.

That's up to the officer entertaining you that day. If you meet a strict officer, he/she will insist that one of your parents is present and sign the indemnity letter in front of him/her as how it is supposed to be done.

Today I went to maybank again, I ask them if i can upgrade to visa debit or not, the worker there said no because i have to be 18 yrs old. I showed them the paper of their website printed out.

There clearly stated that 12-18 also can apply, but they say they dont know and only know its for 18 above only. wtf? Is there any other debit then can be applied below 18? Or can i just go to another branch and upgrade?
Submit your complaints HERE. Tell them your account holding branch refused to issue you the VISA debit card and kept saying you are ineligible for it even though the requirement stated on the website says otherwise. Someone will reply your email within 2 - 3 working days.

If you think 2 - 3 working days is too long, i suggest you to go back to that branch and demand them to call their call centre. I know you are still under 18 but you'll learn something this way. It doesn't mean you are any less bright just because you are still under 18. Be a man and fight for your rights! Go fast! biggrin.gif Sometimes bank employees can be so stubborn, ignorant and clueless!

Yes. Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. All you need is to open a savings account with them and they will issue you this debit card and card issuance is done on the spot.
