which debit card got rebates for petrol?my main reason to get a debit card is for pump petrol
*
if u, have rm20k, then go open alliance hybrid account, and u will get platinum mastercard.
the card give 1.5% cashback on everything, max swipe for cashback is rm6k/month.
(the money can be withdraw back rm5k/day, incase u dont want to leave it there). annual fee rm12.

if dont have rm20k, then just open normal alliance savings acc (deposit rm20 only).
u will get normal debit mastercard. this card give 1%, max swipe for cashback is rm3k/month, rm12 annual fee.

or, if u just pump esso/mobil only, then go for public bank esso/mobil debit, 1% for esso/mobil. no annual fee.

Added on October 7, 2011, 9:11 amnote: alliance debit card cannot do online transaction. but nvm since u said main purpose is for petrol ~

Airasia has come out with its Prepaid Card, aka the loyalty scheme.

http://loyalty.airasia.com

However, I think this is another useless programme since only 1 point earned per RM2 spend. Moreover, if it is used to make payment for Airasia ticket, RM8 convenience fee will be charged.

How you guys think bout this?
*
QUOTE(snigapoe @ Oct 15 2011, 11:13 PM)
i would be agree on it as it is a total waste
since i have been using m2u for payment for ticket with no convenience fee or else i would just use my amex card insteada
*
i read this on last fri.

disadvantages:
1. joining rm10
2. annual rm5
3. ATM withdrawals rm6/transaction shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif
4. as u said, using this card to purchase airasia flights, got convenience fee
5. as u said, rm2 = 1 point, but that is only for AirAsia flights + Add Ons! if flights only, then rm4 = 1 point sweat.gif
(i give u guys a trick here, i usually buy flights using m2u, then add-on with amex to get 5x points and no fee thumbup.gif)
6. points valid for 36 months only

cannot view how many points to redeem a flight yet (available on 11/11).
but for airasia voucher, rm10 need 800 points (rm1600).

so i still need to pay for the ticket first by online transfer to avoid convenience fee?
after that only can go for pick a seat, baggage then to pay those 2 by CC only?
*
yes.

maybank still give u 1tp for each rm3. better than pay extra rm8 per person per way! sweat.gif

If I buy things at shops that have the VISA/MasterCard logo using my debit card, is it any hidden charges/fees will be charged on my card?
*
if u mean local (malaysia), no.

but just ask the shop 1st, some shop will charge additional charges, example 3%, and thats the amount u will swipe/deduct from ur balance.

Thank you for your info! So far only doing online transactions, never has experience with local stores. So basically it is the same as credit card right? Just need to make sure has money in it. Because still thinking want to apply credit card or not..
*
yes you are correct.

but for online transaction, if it is not in RM/MYR, example in USD ($), there will be admin exchange rate, depends on each bank.
example maybank visa debit is 0.5%, probably u wont noticed it.

Hi guys,

I have a PB account with D2D Visa Debit Card. I would like to apply for UTAR MasterCard Debit Card. Is it possible to just use the same account and just change the card? Or do I need to open another account if I want to apply for that UTAR MasterCard Debit Card?

Thanks
*
need to open new acc.

btw why utar? the card give TAR Point and the points valid for 3 years only.

I'm not familiar with CC and DBs. If I have a debit card with MYR loaded inside, can it be used to purchase items with USD? Or I need to load it with USD before purchasing?

Thanks in advance. A total noob in this stuff....

ps: might be using CIMB's debit card sweat.gif
*
no need usd. u can just purchase usd online and bank will convert into myr. just make sure u have enough money after convert.

btw cimb debit card seems dont have benefits.
u can go for debit card that offer cashback or points.

thanks for the info smile.gif I choose to go for CIMB because my account is there.

then, u might consider airasia/tune big card.

user posted image

1. its free to reload/topup the card using cimbclicks.
2. annual fee is rm5 only, or free if use 6x/year.
3. at least u can earn biggies (points).

but withdraw fee is rm6 sweat.gif
so just topup the card for use, not for withdraw ~

oh there's also a joining fee of rm10.

"BIGGIES are tied to each guest" sweat.gif

seems like airasia want all their passenger registered with this card.

1 name = rm10 joining fee
100,000 names = rm1 million!

*

this card is actually for current cimb atm card holder (since rm8 is annual fee for the atm card).

no need to carry 1 atm card + 1 debit mastercard.
and no need to add money 1st using cimblicks (current atm acc) into debit) anymore ~

is anybody using this card? Digi prepaid mastercard Digi Mastercard

it says no joining/annual fees. can top up by CDM and can withdraw from any ATM also. (withdraw from Alliance bank ATM is free)

but cardholders name not embossed on the card.
*
i'm using the card. no joining/annual fee. no name embossed. topup using alliance online, easy.

QUOTE(B.S.O.D @ Nov 11 2011, 04:19 PM)
i am looking for a PREPAID card that will have my name embossed on the card and also i can withdraw cash from ATM for free or just RM1. And the top up process should be easy and convenient.

im using CIMB eMastercard which is weird cause i can top up but cant withdraw cash other than Giant hypermarkets.

im also using Maybank cherry but it doesnt have my name on it.

i know i can get a debit card from public bank or any other bank with my name on it but right now i dont want to open another bank account. i already got two.

thats why im looking for a Prepaid card. i dont need any cashback or rebate points.
*
AFAIK, maybank and cimb debit card dont embossed name on card.

btw cimb already introduce cimb debit mastercard that can link to ur cimb acc so u can withdraw at cimb atm. but still, no name embossed.

and rather than digi simple mastercard (by alliance), u can go to alliance you:nique prepaid card. got name embossed.

QUOTE(B.S.O.D @ Nov 11 2011, 04:19 PM)
This is a off topic question. but does anybody know which bank in malaysia offers 24 hours online banking service? (both CIMB and Maybank are out of service from 12AM for few hours for maintenance)
*
maybank and cimb down about 45-60 minutes should not be a big deal. somemore at midnight.
