FAQ
Q: As an existing Unifi subscribers, can I downgrade to Unifi Lite?
A: Yes you can, but RM200 downgrade fees applicable if still under contract

Q: I'm currently using Streamyx, can I free upgrade to Unifi Lite?
A: You can migrate to Unifi Lite *regardless* of contract status, no penalty will be charged/
It's not an upgrade, you terminate Streamyx and re-subsribe Lite at new price.

Q: Can I retain old phone number?
A: Yes with RM1 chargeable monthly.

Q: What if TMpoint in my area disallow RM129 package?
A: Seek for all authorised resellers/agents nationwide to assist, RM129 is definitely obtainable in most states.

Q: TM say my area not covered at all, I should give up?
A: Don't, seek for authorised reseller/agents to check, they tend to have extended & updated coverage database, and register for you subsequently.

Before this: black outdoor fiber -> FTB -> indoor fiber cable -> preinstalled FWS.
I am thinking: black outdoor fiber -> FWS -> indoor fiber cable -> preinstalled FWS, since FTB is no longer provided.

I know it just act like a junction box, but having 2 shorter cable is better than 1 long cable. (other than the attenuation)

For me, I don't have the 2nd FWS.

Your Current, Before this and I am thinking options are correct.

I am thinking: black outdoor fiber -> FWS -> indoor fiber cable -> preinstalled FWS, since FTB is no longer provided.

This is workable.
Black outdoor fiber - TM responsibility
Indoor fiber cable - we responsible if rosak. TM does provide one during installation. If not long enough to reach your preinstalled FWS, then you have to pay for the actual length.

few week ago some agent keep calling me to install for unifi advance 179, i say mahal.

Trying to catch you with product that pays higher commission before cheaper packages come in.

Kinda like public transport.
No taxis or buses for long time then suddenly taxis come one after another.
Means cheaper bus ride is close on their tail.

What are the complimentary hypp tv channels that are available with unifi lite? I dont understand the HyppTv Everywhere Lite package.

For those who are on unifi already, it also means that u can have unifi lite.

I had verified with tm chat.

For those without contract for their existing unifi can just refresh the contract to 24 months to downgrade to unifi life.

For those still under 24 contracts, can pay rm200 downgrade free and refresh contract for 24 months to downgrade.

haha. I download for my parent house becos only my Father is using unifi and he only uses it to stream YouTube video and WhatsApp. 10Mbps is more than enough for him since he can never utilise the 30Mbps (upgraded to 50Mbps soon for rm179). Only my Sister weekend will come back and use only but she is also light user. They also do not watch HyppTV.

So rm129 every month saves rm50 for them is actually quite ok.

the way to redeem it. thats what in my mind, hahaha, couldnt find a way to redeem

How many people could utilize the 50mbps bandwidth? But Im happy that TM has finally offered the Lite to the mass public rather than keeping it exclusive to outskirt areas like Streamyx Desa. For me this is discrimination.

Yes, not all can utilize the 50Mbos bandwidth actually. It is good to have but many really cannot fully utilize it unless one is doing heavy download. But if it is the case, one will need a lot a lot of storage as 50Mbps can really download a lot of data.

My father cannot really use it for sure, that's why I would like to downgrade.

All existing unifi users can downgrade to unifi life. New user with unifi coverage also can sign. Streamyx will depends on ur side infra

Limited or Unlimited data?

4Mbps is barely enough yes, but not a good minimum figure. If 5Mbps unifi it is good because I had used it before.

But 4Mbps streamyx which I had used for 2.5 years, for YouTube full hd streaming, it can be very struggling. And buffering happens very often and it is slow.

Main reason is that streamyx has Low upload speed, although a lot traffic relies more on the download speed but upload speed does play a big part also.

There's no such thing as quota for fiber user in Singapore...

lion city internet is fast and price is relatively lower.

Orange telco one 300Mbps is only sgd29. Which given such speed, it is way more than enough. But one thing I noticed is that Lion city internet plan is not even able to hit the speed at all. Orange telco their plan I tested it is only 100Mbps++ download at most.

Yup, 100Mbps 29.90 dollars... ANd that's obsolete package... Now minimum speed being offered is 500Mbps for most telco..

Never compare actually. When I was using streamyx the lousy Adsl broadband time. I told myself that as long as TM gives me unifi here, no matter how much I also will pay.

Lucky after 2.5 years wait I finally got it here.

0.53mbps for upload speed was a way too low for the current era! I'm pretty sure will stuck with this for another 5 years unless I moved to city centre which seems impossible now.

What is the Hypp Play VOD listed in the brochure? Cant find any info on that.

its very tricky, i'm communicate with the iflix support team at least 3 days, always ask me register new account.

finally i sent email said all steps not working, i'm give up, then they just add my last register email account with free redeem until end of year.

steps provided by support team:

To access your Unifi subscription, your device must be connected to your Unifi Internet Connection upon signing up. We suggest creating a new account on your computer.

- restart your Unifi Internet Connection
- connect PC to Unifi
- Clear your PC's cache and browsing history, or access Google Chrome Incognito Mode
- Launch play.iflix.com
- Sign up for a new account

You should be able to access your subscription until December 31, 2017.

Connecting your device to your Unifi Internet Connection is very crucial.

Didn't know that Lite comes with free iflix.

Thx for the guide. But I saw on some place that the free iflix does not need any account creation. Just click and register ur device with flix to start viewing. Most important thing is that you should decide the 5 devices for free viewing because no changing of devices allowed once you've registered.

Even without converting to MYR its still cheaper

Depending on your area is using fiber or VDSL for unifi.

Anybody using unifi lite with copper? If copper not really worth it IMO.

Plenty, especially those in high rise buildings & non-Unifi area.
not much different IMO aside from high Ping? (40-50)

But some areas especially near my office cant even reach more than 2mbps with copper. So I think its not viable for some areas.

At least the upload speed can be considered quite OK for the today standard.

I realized who I am, village people who are considered as low cost area (miskin papa kedana) by TM, so Unifi Lite via VDSL will be my only viable option to enjoy 'high speed' broadband via wired. Anyway, not all people are lucky like you and most of the user in this thread who can enjoy high speed broadband via fibre.

Fibre in my area only limited to the nearest street cabinet which in my case, situated around 600M from my taman (read as village).

But many rural/kampung offered 4MB streamyx for rm88 since long time ago, CMIIAW.

Good info. I would recommend those that intend to apply for unifi go through agents like LeonTan as tmpoint staff will give you misleading information or rather they are ill informed. I was given the run around by TM Point staff before getting my application done by a Tm Agent. Useless buggers.

Not all people in kampung would be applicable for those rm88 packages. It will be based on monthly household income not more than 3k if i'm not mistaken.

I know they are lazy, but dont misinformed lar. Its your job also what. I even have a friend working in TM Point and even she and her colleagues conveyed wrong info to me. Saying my area is 'rich man's area' (Which is not btw). WTH? What has the area got to do with Unifi application?

Agents are commission driven so they're more commit to customers compare to those TM wanton robots glued their ass in office.
but some agents will counter offer u to take Maxis 10M or Unifi 30M when they failed.

I found a reseller webpage but the Unilite package starts at RM149+GST, theres no RM129+ package.

That offer is no longer available. And many rural/kampong area cannot gget more than 1mbps, so how does 4mbps benefit them?

super super limited places can support VDSL.

so in the end, those majority of the ppl who do not have unifi coverage, also cannot really benefit from this unifi lite still.

but instead, all current unifi users on fibre, can have the option to sign or downgrade to a cheaper plan at rm129.
