Intel leads in gaming industry now due to poor single threaded performance of AMD CPU, so just stay with Intel build.

Appreciate your advice, so if I aim solely for gaming and entertainment which CPU and MOBO are recommended for matching the GPU?

By judging on your budget, it is possible to fit an i5.

Either Haswell or Skylake is ok, Skylake is more expensive (+ RM 250 for DDR4 based mobo + DDR4 RAM).

If want to save money and don't care about generation or technology, i5 4460 + H81/B85 mobo will do.

My advice is dont get AMD..AMD and Intel rig not much different in price..for AMD, you must get aftermarket cooler, there at least you need to spend another 100-200 or higher if you opt for water cooling..

AMD X8-FX8320E vs Intel Core i5 4460..different around RM200+..but the performance for Intel is better and you no need aftermarket cooler..so you make your calculation..

Guys, I'm planning on building a PC rig.

Usage is mainly for gaming
I need suggestion on whether the stuff I'd be using back is compatible or not.

HDD is fine, I have 4TB worth of HDD.
I have a CoolerMaster 650W
ASUS P5KPL-AM

Stuff such as Wireless card, mouse, keyboard & speakers not necessary. Already have them.

You can have i5 + GTX960 if you reuse your case too. If you need front USB 3.0 & PCI-E 3.0 support, top up and upgrade to a better mobo.

I don't think I can use my old casing. It's a standard casing like those you see in schools, offices and such. I'm not sure if it can fit all these new hardware. Also, if I were to upgrade the mobo, how much would I need to top up, and what difference will it make? Sorry, I really don't know a thing about mobos . Please enlighten me.

H81 you see with the mobo model is the chipset, H81 is the lowest end of Haswell, it doesn't have USB 3.0 header for front USB 3.0 panel input, but you still can access it at the rear of mobo, just not so convenient. The next thing is PCI-E support, max speed for H81 mobo is 2.0, latest is 3.0, 4.0 is due next year. Speed difference is quite huge if you see the figure but if only for GPU, it won't really make a difference.

Some manufacturers modded the chipset and added the USB 3.0 header to it, such as ASRock H81M-HDS ans Asus H81M-K, both are priced above RM 200 now.

Of course Skylake gonna win, if not who else will go for Skylake

I'm contemplating whether i should get a gtx 970 or r9 390.

Is my 4 year old Corsair TX 650w sufficient for R9 390?
How much is r9 390 power consumption when playing latest games on max settings compared to gtx 970?

Enough, average power consumption when gaming is around 250W for R9 390 while GTX970 is around 180W.

If you are not a green/red camp fan boy, then R9 390 with more VRAM is a much better choice since your PSU is able to handle it

Due to budget unable to fit Skylake (6th gen), I will just use Haswell (4th gen).

One question here, do i need to purchase ori windows when i build and buy a new rig at one certain shop? Cause i see most recommendation provided by expert here doesnt include the ori windows price.

That's up to you. You can still transfer Win7 to new rig and upgrade to Win 10 if yours is retail. Plenty of cheap sellers at Garage Sales for it too.

Is that model of graphic card any good? Never heard of that brand before

Quality is ok, if you are worried then change to Zotac at RM 819 or other brand at > RM 900, you might just consider R9 380 which is faster than GTX960 and double the VRAM of GTX960 at RM 900 range if you are going for GTX960 at > RM 900.

Bulk licenses. That's how they could sell it cheap. It's one time use per PC. Once your motherboard dies, its gonna be hard to reactivate again if they detect it is a bulk license.

Try haggling with this guy for Silverstone PSU and case. 300W is more than enough. I'm not a fan of cap ayam PSU.

The iGPU should be enough, rendering is more towards CPU computing.

If you insist to get a dedicated GPU, you can downgrade the i7 to i5 6500 and get a GTX750 for CUDA technology, but seriously it won't help much in rendering speed/time unless the software is heavily relying on GPU computation.

Budget is very low for a full set desktop FYI.

Your budget can fit a GTX980Ti so ultra settings at 2K isn't a big problem for optimized games. AS for USB Type A/C, you can always buy one and plug into the PCI-E slot if needed later.

Stock cooler should be ok since you cannot overclock the CPU, if you are not satisfied with the CPU temp after you have gotten your rig, then only get a decent 3rd party cooler.

B150 and H170 difference is small, B150 doesn't have SATA RAID support, Intel AM/TE/vPro support which consumers hardly use these features to be honest.

The "M" behind stands for mATX form factor.

Nice! this is what i've been looking for. mATX form factor, any suggestion of 3rd party cooler as I worry the compatibility issue whether can fit to this case or not. Also will Seasonic S12II 620W be fit in this casing? According to my finding, this should be modular, correct?

Any 3rd party air cooler with height < 160mm (e.g. Cryorig H7/Cryorig H5 Ultimate) should be ok but this depends on the clearance/space available and your cable management.

Seasonic S12II 620W can fit in the case but it is a non modular PSU, you can top up to get the fully modular version (Seasonic M12II EVO 620W) at RM 379.
