The Most crucial part of the whole review. The TEMPERATURE of the laptop. At TECH ARMORY, we had sold more than 1k units of Gaming laptop thru out the years. But NONE can provide such good cooling capabilities for gaming laptop below RM4000. Both chips produce 73'C for GPU and 79'C for CPU when burning with FURMARK. Meanwhile while idle, CPU core max at 50'C and GPU at 40'C (All test took place at ambient of 29'C)
QUOTE(storm88 @ Jul 3 2014, 07:07 PM)

Did anyone else bought any notebook from devour at this thread?
I have bought a Y410p since last year June together with the warranty upgrade.
Until now haven't receive any news, already inboxed him over the issue multiple times, everytime tell me Lenovo haven't process and other reasons.
Just checked on Lenovo's site, still showing 2 years warranty.
Saw a dispute thread on him as well.
I suggest you check with Lenovo website about warranty upgrade period. Usually, warranty upgrade can be done within certain days from purchase. I am not sure for Lenovo, but Illegear is within 90 days.

Already dropped an email support to them. I am just wondering if anyone else got problem dealing with Lenovo warranty upgrade.

Better call them directly, faster. I dont think warranty upgrade should take that long period (7 months for your case). Right now you talk to Lenovo first, make sure prepare enough info to them to trace your laptop purchase, if Lenovo reply you "warranty upgrade in progress", you can complaint Lenovo. If Lenovo say your laptop "receive no warranty upgrade since purchase", then you can raise a dispute against devour.
I purchased my Y400 last year May also together with the warranty upgrade from devour.
In the past few months, I had tried pm and whatapps him . He only will replied "Ok" , "Will check for you" , "Almost done".
In the end , no news about the warranty extend from him until now.
I am afraid the v3 thread will become dispute thread against devour.....
Just call Lenovo directly, if you confirm as I what I write on last post, then raise a dispute thread against devour. Bcs all of you have paid money for upgrade warranty

Do as what I say, at least confirm by yourself first before raising a dispute. DIY is always better if users dont mind travel here and there for some procedures.

Wah, it will be terrible if you open full black image. Before sending warranty, did you turn off driver to see whether it is driver issue?
Done all of it.. uninstall the driver, disable GPU, even factory reset, all same.. first it started as just a small glitch like going red temporarily and gone back to black. i thought it was driver issue so i fresh install the driver and it was gone. then lately it started to get worse. it happen and i turned off my pc for 1-2 hours and then it is fine again. but this week is the worst. at first it's still black, and then it turns red permanently. i even let the laptop sit for half day and it did not go away. i send it over and they say they cannot resolve this week due of CNY..

Really terrible for you, cant play games for CNY. If possible, you can connect to external monitor using hdmi for temporarily use, after CNY then you send warranty, bcs you send earlier your Y510p will be put aside, better after CNY then they can do faster for you.

is the red lcd issue common among y510p? would b getting them tomorrow or this week.
the red lcd issue is common to all laptop. if you see my post in v2, it happened on HP Envy laptop, it is on the hardware, either the lcd tube is faulty or the connector is misaligned.

im not sure.. cause when i started to follow v2 thread its already halfway. i think it might happened during manufacturing, being 1 in thousand to have this case.

bsides red lcd issue, what other issues u face when using this model? like wifi issues, high temp issues??

i didn't have any of those problem. my wifi is perfect and even during game time, the temp is not that high comparing to my friends. they resorted to the use of fan to cool down their laptop. the only small disadvantage is the grill below. they tend to collect dust.

how u maintain ur temp when gaming? oh ya, and also can is the dvd drive capable of burning dvd rom?

oh why ytlay, I was so close in pre-ordering the local Commandos series from storm88 until I saw this v3. Right now have to hold back for a while and wait for this official spec reveal.
i still think 3rd gen chip is better in term of performance. haswell is an upgrade, but because of the battery saver tehcnology, the performance is a bit low.

actually i never monitor the temp. that's the best thing. i play for more than 2 hours and the highest i reach is only 79. never have it gone more than 80-90. i always put my battery on high performance. the dvd is capable of burning dvd rom. no worries there.

My y400 can reach 90'c+ when playing high end graphic games like bf4 , cod:ghost
BTW i also using a cooling pad to blow out the hot air.

what about the settings? all ultra like me?
QUOTE(bingding @ Jan 28 2014, 04:53 AM)
hi, i hav just received my y510p via delivery. may i know how to check whether the package is original and has not been opened and replaced before?
well the box itself would give some hint.. for an opened box you could see the sticker has been tampered/replaced and even on the box would ave some tear whee the sticker should be. unless the seller is good in changing the original seal, the item is untouched new..

u know how to do the warranty? i asked the seller to help me do, but he said i nid do myself
what i meant is are there other differences between these two laptop models beside their gc is different...
everything same, price RM200 difference just for 10% improvement. Last time Y500 and Y510p with GT750M is more valuable. In fact, GC is the same technically.

haiz, why lenovo increase the price if only differ a bit.....increase few hundred summore, not few ringgit...

That is why I asked my friend faster buy Y500 (<RM2999 + warranty upgrade), however, it was still 3rd gen I7 but it was more than enough. Later, Lenovo refresed Y500 to Y510p with Haswell I7, price increased to RM3099 (not mistaken). Nearly the end of year, Lenovo refreshed again Y510p with GT755M plus price increased to RM3399. So, basically you are paying RM200+ for 40mhz increase in base clock (equivalent to 10% performance in SLI performance) which you can actually use for warranty upgrade.
The price change affected most in single version (RM200~RM500), SLI version always remains RM3999 (not mistaken) throughout the model refresh

Default is 2 yrs for lenovo y series, warranty upgrade can increse from basic 2 yrs to 3 yrs either with carry in service or onsite service. Accidental protection is also part of the warranty upgrade if not mistaken. Hope other sifus can advice.
For some users, number of freegifts is not important (unless free ssd, hdd, ram), warranty service is much important which I very agree.

whats accidental protection? so if no upgrade, then there wont be any warranty for accidental protection? and onsite service means what?

better buy an upgrade la...not very expensive, rm70 for 3y carry-in, and rm160 for 3y on-site. if not mistaken, both these warranty are international warranty. so worth la spend a little bit more for extra 1 year protection. for warranty upgrade, if not mistaken only resellers are able to do ut for y-series. correct me if im wrong.
Interesting, the games you optimized is it genuine games?
I have both non-genuine and genuine games, both also can be optimized.
No problem so far.
QUOTE(jeff10012003 @ Jan 28 2014, 03:37 PM)
optimized but the temp is still high? should not be the case..
No idea. I think the GeForce Experience is optimized the graphic setting based on the GPU capability to run the game smoothly , so it may fully load the GPU.
High temp only happen when playing high graphic demand games. Others low end graphic games won't reach until this temp.
The palm rest area also will become very hot , but it still acceptable.

How about your's y510 ?
mine currently the highest demand is arkham origins. i turned on all settings to ultra and still the game satisfy me. i never used GE to optimize it. the funny thing is the anti aliasing. i switch to geforce AA high and the graphic is so smooth. but when i pull it down to MXAA(iinm) and the game lag a bit. i cannot show you the screen now as mentioned, it's at the service center..

on site warranty mean if there's any problem with ur laptop, u call up the service center, the technician will diagnose the problem thru phones and once problem identified, service center will send the technician to ur place to fix ur laptop.
Really bad luck for those potential Y510P buyers, if gt750m still there, can get a RM200 deduction
I have ask few resellers out there in nov. all gt750 version are discontinued. so i don think there is any gt750m in market now. so yup, no old products therefore all y-series are priced higher without any deduction.
i hav one curious question, based on notebookcheck.net gt750m sli or gt755m sli performs a lot better than single gtx765m. so, if ppl wan to get a gaming notebook, whats the point of getting gtx765m notebook for around rm4k+ if they could get gt750m sli or gt755m sli notebook under rm4k? how come i saw many ppl stil willing to spend more on single gtx cards notebook?

Single GPU is always better in terms of optimization, less hassle. SLI although has more power, but will faces problems like drivers problem, not all games support SLI, micro shuttering etc...

and also SLI produce more heat , thus ur laptop will become more hot.

Is there any solution for this?
@PenzoilGuy, the warranty suppose to be around RM168, not RM368.

Optional Extend Warranty, upgrade to 3 yrs onsite warranty for peace of mind. - Lenovo U, Y & Z series from 2 yrs extend to 3 yrs Onsite Warranty -- RM165
I called the lenovo support team and they said the only way for you to upgrade the warranty is purchase them from the reseller or computer shop. There is no way for you to buy the 3y onsite online.
Seems like the local lenovo service center doesn't even know anything about the warranty.

I already read thru the 1st page....which is correct stated in the Lenovo brochure...but they keep insisting say that they don't do the "RM165" only able upgrade to 3year onsite with RM368...and the funny thing is...
the RM368 is suppose upgrade from 1 year IWS (old pc warranty) to 3 year IWS onsite...which is sound fair for me...but Y510p already fall under RM165 since base warranty already cover 2 years....hope someone can guide me before I commit on buying this laptop.

one suggestion, try to ditch away the 1TB 5400 rpm HDD because it will generate tons of heat plus the performance is really bad.
move to a SSD if budget allow, the 1TB HDD can slot into caddy bay as an extra storage.

I'm that someone went every lenovo shop available at LYP asking about the warranty....all mention the same thing to get 3 years On-Site Warranty need to pay RM350(at Lenovo Service Centre Level 4)~RM368...
So all the sifu here can help us out the new owner/soon to be, where to get the RM 165 as Stated in The brochure for Y Series? Thanks!!!
Wow, so tough for you!!
It seems that RM300+ is the correct amount for warranty upgrade.
But I do recall there are two version of warranty upgrade, one is on-site and the other forget.
Is it RM300+ refers to On-site while RM160+ refers to another??
the 1TB HDD will be in the caddy bay which will replace the DVD-drive.
as im a newbie , i dont dare to open the back cover ._. so i wonder if the ultrabay provide same speed for the ssd and can it be made the primary drive
I just called lenovo malaysia regarding the warranty, he said there is no online purchase for malaysia, i have to buy the warranty upgrade from their authorize dealer but when i ask him how much for 1 year warranty upgrade he said he didnt know...had to ask their authorize dealer the price myself, how come lenovo ppl didnt know their own sales price....haishh anyway the way he explain things is so confusing...he also didnt know why all the reseller in low yat said the upgrade is rm300 something n buyer can buy it online
I Already talk with lenovo Dealer, best they can offer RM350 same price as the Lenovo Service Center 4th Floor LYP....funny....
i went to lenovo exclusive store from lenovo website and purchased a y510p , come with the 2year international warranty , i upgraded it to 3year on-site with rm 165
Just bought a RM165 3years on-site warranty @ mid valley exclusive lenovo store. You can apply the upgrade easily after you activated the 2 years warranty online.
I called the exclusive store, they said they do provide warranty upgrade for 3 years 165 on site warranty yeayy shop name fcc retails location at mid valley n digital mall, she said can also purchase warranty without buying lenovo laptop with them So im gonna head to their store this weekend this prove tht lot of reseller in lowyat talk bullshit mehh

Just get my Y510P GT755 single just below rm3.2k together with bag and antivirus at lowyat level 3. I think It's quiet a nice deal there. Hopefully this laptop can meet the expectations without any problems.
Need guidance how to register the 2years warranty. They said need to check online, but I see there my s/n already updated only it's 2 months earlier.

the warranty appeared is according to the manufacture / shipping date, u can email them the invoice with dealer stamp (and other mentioned documents), n lenovo will update the warranty date according to your purchase date.
Yes u still can upgrade, u can upgrade anytime as long ur 2 years warranty not finish but i think better u do it now mybe later or after one year u forget about it or lenovo change their upgrade plan who knows rite

heard a lot users say mcafee cause alot of problems. i bought dos version so didnt come with mcafee. personally used mcafee before and didnt find it useful to protect the system.
so, i did try gaming on my new bought y410p and the drawback is, temp is kept within 70 to 80-83 C.. and gpu around 70-72 C.. is that normal or just my laptop is bad?

this was the answer i looking for! thanks for the information...
You're welcome. y510p has a lil bit better cooling system because its big compared to y410p. But the difference is not that significant. Just remember to lift ur laptop a bit while gaming so that the air intake doesnt get blocked. I always put books at the battery compartment. Then blow big ass fan opposite of the air exhaust. Even better gaming on air-conditioned room since its too hot nowadays.
he asked which spec i want i just grab the gt750m since nth big diff with gt755m, rm3150 + rm199 1care 2 years warranty thanks hope it meets my expectation the extra 2 years warranty is Onecare onsite warranty..
Btw my window 8 is original but i didnt get any window 8 original CD, am i suppose to have it from the dealer?
wow, stil got gt750m.. makes me wonder stil got y500 or not haha.. btwn, what is the diff btwn ur model and the current gt755m bsides the gpu difference? which components oso diff?

oh i see, that extra by onecare. why u not getting "genuine"warranty from lenovo for 3y on site warranty?
afaik, since windows 8, end-users no longer receive cd in the package, the users themselves r require to make the recovery cd from the recovery partition. and no cd key sticker label underneath laptop anymore too. the cd key is embedded into bios. once users slot in the recovery cd, the cd key will automatically key in. correct me if wrong terminology.

How much did u bought your 510p from them? Going to buy my 510p from the exclusive store as well

onecare also onsite just only 199 so i think should be no big diff haha..
wow great info from you becoz i still stuck at win7 generation lol.. thanks anyway
if u can wait the wait, but i think if really the 4k display of y50 version launched in msia, definitely the price higher than y510p which is rm3399... but who knows..

if u r urgently need to use laptop for work/assignment, then no choice u need to get one. if u jz wanna upgrade from existing unit, probably u can wait for y50.

Haven't got it for the laptop yet. But was using crucial on my desktop so might get a crucial ssd for the laptop too. Looking at the m500 model. If only m.2 ssd comes in bigger capacity..

not really sure if its the same between the two. I wanted to get one with msata slot but it seems that Lenovo discontinued the msata model and only m.2 is available. So not sure if those who bought it earlier comes with msata or m.2..

About the Y510p with single GT 755M, can i play games in full resolution with 40+ FPS? I'm talking BF4/AC4 class graphics.
Of course, im willing to compromise on settings such as AA/shadows. I cant live with muddy textures though..
Should be no problem bro. Playing BF4 on my Y500 GT750M usually got 50+ FPS on FHD. But i usually want my fps to stay at 60FPS, i manage to do it with some settings that i played, already forgot since i already sold my laptop. Haha. But all im saying its more than capable to play BF4 on Y510p.
But AC4 is not so good, i think AC4 is not really an optimized game. I tried many settings but cant really find the perfect fps so i straight away uninstall the game.

Cant remember bro i already sold my laptop. I usually tweak using my preference. I dont like it to be fix at high/medium/extra. Always mix to get good fps. Im a person who dont care much about AA/Aniso-filtering etc. i only want 60fps for my games. Haha. I even played on windows mode to get static 60fps. Its all about ur own preference as i said about AC4, the optimization is really bad unlike BF4 great optimized game.
hi guys, i recently formatted my y410p, fresh W8 install. installed all the drivers, then installed the v332.21 geforce drivers. then my laptop is stuck in a black/flashing screen after restart. anyone else facing this problem?

Hi there...base on my recent experience...you can't update to the recent nvidia driver in SLi mode (If you use one).....because when later u put in the cd-rom back it become blackout since you never activate the 1st time Intel HD4600 internal GC(Optimus Mode)....get it updated in single dedicated GC mode with the latest Nvidia Driver (In Optimus Mode)...restart it once then only put it back the Extra GC...or else like me...Install Latest Nvidia Update In SLi...then when change to single card...it become blackout....then put back the SLi...screen back to normal....so reinstall back the original Nvidia Driver from D:\Lenovo VGA Driver folder (Nvidia 9.x.x.x.x)....
p/s: make sure before u take out the 2nd GC turn off/Disable the SLi Features in Nvidia Control Panel (Set SLi & PhysicX.....)
Hope this will help u out without formatting again...

Thank you very much for the reply bro. Im using Y410P with a single GT 755M so i dont think it applies. I booted to safe mode, deleted the v332.21 drivers and now i can login back to W8 normally again. Will proceed to install the v311 drivers on the driver CD ROM.
Also, the onekey recovery/theatre and lenovo energy managment important? i practically installed all the drivers i needed except those 3

Not sure this a right thread to post or not. Last week, i just bought Lenovo Y510p and came together with Windows 8. I heard that u can free upgrade to Windows 8.1, but there no any upgrade at Windows Store even thou I already update the system. Any advice?

afaik, windows 8 is eligible to upgrade to win 8.1. try check in the windows apps store
already check million times still don't have Windows upgrade 8.1 at Windows apps store.
oh not sure why this happening. fyi, I did upgraded my own win8 pro and my fren win 8 SL to 8.1pro and 8.1 respectively using windows app store few months back.
hye there..just wondering..i just notice that my y400 gt750 is lagging, especially when playing demanding games, such as NFW MW2013. My adblock plus on chrome is also not working at all. This things had occured before, but it went away once i installed win 8.1, and it come again! i suspect that the culprit is the disk repairing mechanism since sometimes, the windows is a bit hang since HW Monitor won't start after i booted the laptop, a i had to force shutdown the laptop (and i've uninstalled this programme from my laptop). is my assumption is right? and what should i do rectify this never ending issue?

Guy i am looking for gt750m external gpu for y510 any body has it for sale
i think someone in garage sales are selling it... came across the thread in garage sales weeks ago, but sorry cant seem to be able to find that page now..
from the minimum requirements posted, the min gpu required is 512 vram of Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT, so i think a laptop gt755m that comes with the current batch of y510p should b able to handle medium if not high settings for titanfall.. or if u can wait and not hurry, try to wait for lenovo y50 or y40 which may arrive in 2nd quarter i guess...

Already played the beta High settings no problem D (GT750M SLI)
Love the new design of the lenovo y50 and 40. Hope the new products will have better Gpu performance because of now maxwell has 2X performance per watt than Kepler. But will find out soon.
my fren just got his y410p single gt755m yesterday.. now he wonder. if he want buy 2nd gpu in the future.. is it gt750 version compatible with his gpu? or he have to buy gt755? how much it cost?

He should buy gt755m, cant use with different model, wont work. price can check at garage sales if there is any.
Driver problems, micro-stuttering, etc, most importantly not all games support SLI and can run smoothly. easy to say its not going to be smooth ride when ure on SLI. Many things to consider/tweak before u can play your games smoothly.

It's possible to use the m2 ssd as primary while the given HDD as secondary. I found the tutorial link at http://www.addictivetips.com/ but can't remember the exact link.

hi.. I couldnt find any related info about it in the website.. but found some useful info on how to tweak ssd..
meanwhile I have search on lenovo forum and found this.. it also says that replacing the original hdd with ssd wouldnt void the warranty.. not sure whether this statement applies to malaysia or not..

i dont think it fit. y 410p/y510p uses at least 120W for single gpu, and 170w for sli version. head to any dearler and the price is within 130-170 (depending upon the delaer)

the price i mentioned u can actually get the original adapter as long as u buy from lenovo distributors. i dont suggest oem becoz alot probem will happened. original adapter come with 1 year warranty by adding up some amount of money compared to oem.

I Didn't migrate anything, since this Super Cache Almost Same Speed As Running OS from the SSD itself. Advantages of SuperCache, With your frequent apps, files & data you work on it will Cached IT...doesn't restrict just C Partition, but The Whole 1TB HDD Partition...and IF say the SSD give out, still you can simply use back the "traditional" HDD
So I believes 119.24G really sufficient for caching most of your data work on, in matter fact 24/7 lol...
But If you wanna to maximize it...migrate it..maybe faster by extra 20-50Mb/s read & write speed...
so far I process in Adobe Photoshop, AI & Dreamweaver CS6 x64bit freaking fast enough, simply put all rounder for any task you do.

so far I process in Adobe Photoshop, AI & Dreamweaver CS6 x64bit freaking fast enough, simply put all rounder for any task you do.
For sure, gaming in laptop is hotter than desktop, somemore this laptop is not thick enough.
U cant improve via software for heat issue
So the only way, is dismantle and apply new thermal paste (google y510p manual)
else just accept it or play until it broken and RMA
i see
im comparing my lappy with my fren lappy, he is using y500p and im using y510p. we play the same game together and i discover that my lappy get hot in like 15min of gaming(the keyboard start heating up like really hot and top of the fans too) while my fren's lappy still consider not so hot, like warm only...
Guys, are there any place that i can walk in and buy the Y510p? my lappy just broke down and need to fly tomorrow T_T
or are there going to be some newer Y series coming that i should wait?
Thanks!
u can walk in to Lowyat plaza or COD with resellers in garage sales to get Y510p.
If u can wait till next month, then u might probably see some newer laptops with GTX8xxM. Its worth to wait for next generation Maxwell gpu, buy when u really need it.
Upcoming model with new designs and layout like: Y50/ i7-4700HQ/ GTX860m/ red backlit KB/ FHD MSI GE60/ i7-4700HQ/ GTX860m/ Dynaudio/ multi-color backlit/ FHD
GTX860m 3Dmark11P score on par with GTX770m according to benchmarks in Chinese forum.

Well I really need a lappy now as mine just broke down. However I am afraid that it is not worth it to buy atm.
wow that good to hear that..before this in LYP most of the shop selling Msata only....either way how much they offer for 128GB? any cache apps they provide?
Hi all, how much the single gpu version now in Lowyat? Is it worth it to wait (and miss out first few weeks of Diablo 3 new expansion) for Y50 instead? TQ
Do you think I will kena tax if I order two 128G M.2 NGFF ssd from amazon?
My suggestion buy from mydigitaldiscount.com itself...much cheaper since that their proprietary product and personal usage no tax imply for memory/ssd/hdd...btw i dont think anybody from amazon will ship to malaysia..worth every single penny...think next wanna try split half cached half storage for my frequent apps

Oh if that the case...carry on...nah 2 ssd is nothing...believe me...they wont even bother to check....i give u example...if 2 ngff ssd stack together..equivalent to small zippo lighter and weighted almost nothing....but make sure if possible usps...mine just usps saver turnaround time 5 days
Newbie here, few question to ask regard mydigitalssd 1) Should I use the ssd for boot drive or caching? Which is faster? 2) Is caching can speed up booting? 3) If I use it for boot drive, can I still caching? 4) If I use it for boot drive (OS on SSD), how about my startup speed since all my program on the HDD and the startup read the program from HDD? 5) For my understanding, Boot drive ---> Speed up booting but slow down startup (If program install on the SSD, can speed up both, booting and startup) Caching ----> Speed up startup and most of the program running before but doesn't speed up booting Correct or wrong? Sry new to these stuff

info shown that the GTX860 have almost a same performance to overclocked GTX765M but base on the material from Clevo, i trust too little of the given source for now
Planning to grab a Y510P at the end of this month.
Would like to clarify something from everyone here.
The plan: - Install an SSD as the main drive, migrate Windows 8 to SSD and then use the 1TB HDD (in Ultrabay + HDD caddy) as a secondary drive for data. - A dual-boot setup with Ubuntu 13.10 for work (Windows for play).

The NGFF is using M2 slot, IINM the samsung will use the primary Sata3 slot. So you can install both, which is waste of $
Choose either one enough
Thanks, tachlio. Yup, I was actually contemplating between the two. I've read rave reviews for the Samsung, so I was geared for that. Then, I read PennzoilGuy offered the MyDigitalSSD as an option. So, I was just confused by both, really.
thinking to upgrade RAM for my y410p, what were the maximum speed of RAM that y410p can support? And what are the best RAM that can be used to this unit?

Yea, the Samsung Evo needs a SATA-3 port to function at its best capability. A question: the internal HDD is on SATA-3, or the laptop has the SATA-3 port itself?
Hi, long time no see. Waiting for the lenovo y50 for weeks now. Can anyone know how will be the price be? Waiting for either this or others if too expensive

ram is depending on type of windows installed, either 32-bit or 64-bit. if 32-bit windows, max 4gb and if 64-bit windows, ram support up to 16gb (laptop) for end-users. if windows 7 basic, max 4gb also no matter 32/64-bit windows.

IINA, current install ram is low voltage type. You can check with CPUZ
Got problems with y410p bluetooth connection after upgrade to windows 8.1. Try to refresh without deleted data but failed with winload.efi is missing. .. why? How to solve it.
anyone can recommend lenovo that can play dota2 high setting.chepaer better
if u r using a lappy with 1366x768 screen , ultra settings won't do much as it's limited by resolution itself. if u got a full hd screen , u need gt750m or better for playable dota 2 for ultra settings.
waiting for lenovo y50 ... the keyboard is stunning ... arhhhh ... when i can buy it .

Yes, max temp according to CPUID Hardware Monitor. Feel like y400 is easy to overheat even though have cooling pad to help
Alright than I'll get a external keyboard to solve the palm rest problem.
Thanks for answer
if computer shuts down due high temp, it's overheat. if computer still works @ high temp, it got so-so cooling system. p/s: the best cooling system is A.C-ed room.
Need to dismantle who laptop and reapply thermal paste (Arctic Cooling)
Do at your own risk
dey! he was askin' 'bout CPU la~ 'm using using stock thermal paste p/s: mine gpu was below 90' on bf4 [finished the campaign in 1 go with a few bathroom breaks]
do take note, Core i7 processors is a very hot processor so reaching 100C is a normal case. as long the laptop wont insta shutdown/power off, you are good to go.

digital storm has announced customized gaming laptop from 1159 USD with gtx 860m and i7 . so i think most likely that lenovo y50 will come with that price range as well with that spec .... meanwhile , asus and msi laptop are 1k above that price tag. http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/03/digital...m-2014-laptops/

it's not expensive at all. USD1299 is already after USD200 rebate.
by compare the spec to the rival brands which has similar spec, the price is at just okay spot. I've been expected the price at this level and share the opinion to many of the forumer who asked y50 from us but non believed.
any idea when lenovo y50 will be available in malaysia market?
not so soon, expect 1 month or more later than US release. If u see any Y50 in MY market before lenovo, those are imported set. Not warranted by Lenovo MY.

I've current got an Asus G60j and it is now more than 4+ years old. Currently looking at the Y50 and if it does come out at a sub RM4000 price, it is a buy for me. However, does anyone know what the battery life is like? My Asus lasts 45 minutes on battery so I am hoping that something that is as thin and light as the Lenovo should last more than 5 hours.

Not sure if Notebookcheck has gotten their hands on review unit. Hopefully the maintainability is easily accessible. I'm waiting for Y40 though.

I hope so too, then again it does have a subwoofer, which I hope is better than the one on my Asus G60j which simply doesn't work . Oh, that's a bit low, still hope it is a bit higher though.

erm, its so so, but good la for the gtx gpu, if u want longer why didnt u buy ultrabook instead? i concern more about the temp, cause lenovo tend to overheat.

It seems that Lenovo will position their Y series in different market segment with Y430p/GTX850m, Y530p/GTX850m and Y50/GTX860m, Y40. Y530p & Y430p look like the sucessor of Y510p & Y410p, the more portable series are Y50 & Y40. Wish Lenovo will bring more affordable variants of Lenovo Y series to benefit the budget gamers.

But i'm already swap my hdd with ssd & dvd with hdd. Of course warranty sticker i'm not touch it during swapping process. Let say if i want to send to SC, do i need to swap back to the condition when i'm 1st bought it?

you still can send it back. thermal paste reapply and clean up is different than warranty claiming.

Erazer Y50 and Y40 will be release in China on 15/5 with spec and attractive selling price as stated below, Y510p and Y410p EOL and replace by Y50 and Y40.

So Lenovo Y40 can challenge Gigabyte P34G v2? Not quite familiar with AMD dGPU... cuz many people say that AMD driver is problematic.

Go for Y410p while its eol. coz lenovo had replaced it with Y40 & Y50. i think the Y430 ver just launched for China with Guild war 2. pretty sure its legit. never seen introduced by Lenovo before.
Apparently a Canadian dude on another forum is about to receive his Y50 tmrw or Wednesday. Good to know they're rolling out. Assuming Malaysia will receive it 2-3 months later. I hope it is worth waiting for.
Depends on game & setting. The higher the setting, higher temperature goes. Highest i got my Y500 is 86'C processor, and 80'C graphic if i remember correctly (ady sell my laptop ) Playing battlefield 4.

So far, I could not find any tech reviewers doing reviews or unboxing of the Y50. There is so much mystery around this particular notebook. 4K display is not available any time now, maybe in the future and also the cooling is questionable on the computer.

It's showing the Y510P at higher price than Y50 too (with bunch of free gifts though).
Marketing Strategy meh... Both shown is their own RRP, but surely the y510p selling price already drop... Try to create marketing "illusion" so people will think the new variant from lenovo less than the old one... My 50 cents la...

Which also means Y50 should have lower RRP than Y510p.

Y410/ Y510P doesn't have any price cut but they are phasing it out directly.
imo Not trying to destroy your dream, but it's IMPOSSIBLE that the price will go below RM4k in malaysia
I know the chance is slim, but why "IMPOSSIBLE"? Their main rival is the MSI GE60-2PE GTX860M model which is priced at 4199. Lenovo's usual marketing is their "low pricing" so I don't see pricing Y50 below 4k as an "IMPOSSIBLE" option. Even if it's not below 4k, it would be in 4000 to 4200 in order to create an advantage over MSI.
Only time will tell, who knows Lenovo might hike up the price due to latest components in there?
So far, less than 10 YouTube videos of several users who got the unit first and it was looking really good. Games perform well at 'ultra' settings and the whole thing looks very sturdy and well built.
However, there is one video where the buyer pressing hard on the keyboard surface and it looks quite fragile. Like it would break.

It would depend on Lenovo MY to decide the spec(such as RAM, HDD, OS) then only they'll decide the price.
I guess Y50 will be price according to its market position and local market competition. It will be overprice if lack of competition from other OEMs like whats happen in China last year, eventually they lost some of their market share to US set grey importer and local OEM HASEE using rebranded Clevo gaming series with much lower and reasonable price. This year, Y50 pricing in China is more reasonable due to stiff competition from other OEMs.
Some of the new laptop(ie GE60, RE15..) already upgraded to GTX860m from GTX765m with apprx. the same SRP. In US, Y50/GTX860m(US1399) and Y510p/GT755m(US1369) SRP before discount is around the same. It seems that US replace Y510p with Y50 around the same SRP.
Fyi, its selling in Singapore around SG1799 with 16GB and bunch of freegift.
Hello there. Any body here know the retail price of the y50 in China? I might want to fly to China to buy the y50, if the price is cheaper than expected (<RM3700) & cover the cheap airasia flight, at least...huhu
From my calculation (the price in SG & USA), I would say the price for y50 is expected to be starting at RM3599 upwards. Expected arrival in Malaysia would be starting somewhere end-July to Mid-August & become available widely around September14...
And if I'm not mistaken, the warranty in China is international warranty...

I suggest you can go to China forum to observe first, from what I know is Lenovo although is from China but they opt to US market. And, quite a number of review from China forum about Y50, basically, can be said 50/50. Yet, you better read first. For me, I dont suggest to go for I7 model.

According to most reviews out there, the cooling is very amazing and the temperature is cool even if you overclock it, in such a slim chassis...
cool. notebookcheck.net says MSI GS60 runs dangerously hot, so this Y50 should be a better choice, no? if only we could customize the keyboard backlight color for this Y50 like MSI...
