The model is announced by the Guild War 2 official website (Kongzhongwang) which should be pretty legit.

I saw from Lenovo's website, GTX880M for about RM4k only
*
Lenovo does not have a GTX 880M laptop. sleep.gif
Also it's impossible for a laptop to have GTX 880M in that price range, impossible.

It's showing the Y510P at higher price than Y50 too (with bunch of free gifts though).

Marketing Strategy meh... Both shown is their own RRP, but surely the y510p selling price already drop... Try to create marketing "illusion" so people will think the new variant from lenovo less than the old one... My 50 cents la...
*
Which also means Y50 should have lower RRP than Y510p.

QUOTE(storm88 @ Jun 9 2014, 12:41 PM)
imo Not trying to destroy your dream, but it's IMPOSSIBLE that the price will go below RM4k in malaysia
*
I know the chance is slim, but why "IMPOSSIBLE"? Their main rival is the MSI GE60-2PE GTX860M model which is priced at 4199. Lenovo's usual marketing is their "low pricing" so I don't see pricing Y50 below 4k as an "IMPOSSIBLE" option. Even if it's not below 4k, it would be in 4000 to 4200 in order to create an advantage over MSI.

One of the more detailed english review of Y50 out there from NBR : http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-es...tel-7260-a.html
Specs are most likely slightly different from what we have though (CPU, SSHD, Wifi card etc).

According to most reviews out there, the cooling is very amazing and the temperature is cool even if you overclock it, in such a slim chassis...

Comparing it to Y510P SLI

+ RRP is RM100 cheaper
+ GTX860M Maxwell GPU (similar performance to GT750M SLI or GTX770M at stock clock, good overclocking potential due to good temperature, unlocked vbios overclocking could match a GTX780M's stock clock performance according to NBR forum).
+ Haswell-refresh i7-4710HQ processor (100MHz higher than i7-4700MQ, slight performance increase.
+ Dual-fan cooling system (MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better cooling).
+ Slim (0.9" thick).
+ Better build quality and design (subjective to users' preference).
+ Built-in subwoofer (even better sound quality).
+ Red colour USB3.0 ports instead of the commonly blue colour. (fit the laptop colour theme).

- Lack of mSATA or M2 NGFF slots (only one default 2.5-inch SATA slot).
- Lack of DVD drive / Ultrabay.
- Worse screen quality than Y510P (unless Malaysia uses a different screen which is unlikely).
- The size (not thickness) is rather big for a 15.6" laptop (15.23" x 10.37").
- Two USB3.0 ports on the left side are located very close to each other (might not fit two big-sized USB).
- The primary heat sources (CPU, GPU) are located under the WASD area (but again, the cooling is much better).

From months of following on NBR forum and Y50 tieba.

Still, can't understand why they put 4GB VRAM but not put the SSHD in since only one slot...

What I care the most now is which screen are they using for the Malaysia sets? The Chimei panels seems to be much worse than the AUO panels for having washed out colours and a yellow tint, according to reviews.

cheapest GTX860M in the market yet so picky shakehead.gif want something good? fork out wallet money and get a better one la  whistling.gif

(Joking, no insult. But i'm serious of my point of view. Cheers  biggrin.gif)

Not picky la haha, just can't understand why Malaysia always get regular HDD variant (but our neighbour get SSHD).
I understand it's the best laptop for those "I want a cheap but powerful gaming laptop" buyers (which is what I'm looking for too). Its cooling system is also better than the similar priced MSI and Illegear, which is awesome.

Is it worth to wait for Y50? Or just get Y510P? Please advise.  notworthy.gif
*
If "screen quality" (better sRGB and viewing angles) and "upgradeability" (e.g. adding a M.2 NGFF SSD or adding a 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD into the Ultrabay slot) are VERY important for you, then you should consider Y510P or other GTX860M/850M laptops.

Otherwise, Y50 is superior in almost any other aspects (especially performance and COOLING SYSTEM).

I'll get the FHD still tho. The cheaper price and slightly longer battery life are more important to me because I'm a student. 4K screen will be a waste for me since GTX860M couldn't support games on that.

4 Cell is standard for Y50? Y50 covered Y40 coverage.
*
Y50's 4-cell 54Whr battery is better than GE60's 6-cell 49Whr battery though.

QUOTE(bloodchow2 @ Jun 27 2014, 11:30 PM)
2 GB uses new Maxwell GPU which is more efficient and more powerful than 4 GB old Kepler GPU, check internet to know more about it

and 1080p gaming rarely uses more than 2 GB GPU ram unless you are doing autoCAD then no point getting more

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Nvidia...r.114908.0.html, Maxwell 2 GB has 10% more performance than Kepler

I am not so sure about y50 uses Maxwell or Kepler but I am pretty sure 100% a 4 GB GPU wont be any faster than 2 GB GPU GTX 860m at 1080p gaming

here is the proof 2 GB vs 4 GB http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/...4GB-Memory-154/, and heck 2 GB perform better than 4 GB
*
2GB VRAM will never perform better than 4GB VRAM. It's like saying "4GB RAM is smoother than 8GB RAM because I only needs 3GB RAM", which is theoretically impossible.

And also, upcoming (as well as recently released) AAA titles are going to eat more and more VRAM. Reason being they will be built based on the latest consoles, which have more than 2GB VRAM (or Unified Memory). So the extra VRAM will come in handy IF by any chance the future games at medium~high settings need them. But I would have to agree that for currently most games won't need more than 2GB VRAM.

Anyway, the two points you stated, are actually optional and subjective to personal experience. Some users prefer a pure red backlit keyboard instead of the more fancy multicolour one. Some users prefer a slimmer laptop because they didn't need one, or if they needed one they might prefer an external one (Samsung's external DVD drive is cheap and good).

To me the most important aspects of a GAMING laptop are performance and cooling, which both are ticked by Y50, at a cheaper price than GE60 which has a worse cooling system. The tradeoff is a worse screen but then I'll get a much better looking slim design (again, this is subjective) so yeah it's a fair trade, imo.

Someone please explain whats is the difference between 165 warranty extension and the 70 one.

On-site = technian go to your house, company or other location to service.
Carry-in = you carry your laptop to service center by yourself.

Just simply google search and you should find the answers too I think.
