Currently Lenovo y510p with dual gt 755m sli, 8gb ram and 1tb hdd (NOT SSHD) is selling for RM 3999 in Malaysia.

I'm pretty sure we can't get the Y50 model with above mentioned specs at RM 4000 in Malaysia.

That is why i'm thinking of getting y50 from US and have it shipped to Malaysia.

Anyone in the same boat?

4k version released at lenovo USA! Usd 1599 for non touch/16gb ram/512gb ssd/gtx 860m 4gb.

I have been following NBR forum for a long time. The only thing holding me back now is the Screen Panel. Maybe we should wait till some one gets the UHD model and test out the screen. Rumoured to be IPS screen.
Any ideas of how much it's gonna cost in Malaysia?

Wait for the y50 with 4k display

A reseller in China just confirmed that the 4K UHD Y50 is indeed Glossy IPS screen panel!
Or it might be PLS screen panel by samsung. But who cares! The viewing angles and colours are superb!

This changes everything, at least for me. I will be praying and waiting for this model or the UHD touch model to arrive in Malaysian shore!

4gb vram on the y50 is also maxwell. It's been confirmed. Someone posted in the y50 thread in NBR forum.

Sadly, 4K panel only limited to 48hz refresh rate.

The only downside to Y50 is the TN screen panel. If you can live with a standard Par screen panel, then this is the perfect Laptop.

After all these consideration, i think i'm just gonna get the basic model with the anti-glare FHD display. It's still the best bang for buck gaming laptop in the market.

i have just purchased the DOS version and installed win 8.1 pro. All for 3800, What do you guys think? is it expensive?
I wanted to wait for the 4k Ips display, but i seriously do not think 4k is required at this moment coz win 8.1 still can't scale properly and it's impossible to game at 4k.
And it's capped at 48hz refresh rate/frames per sec!! even if you change the resolution to 1980x1080, it's the same!

So i think i'm just gonna upgrade to 512 SSD and get another 8gb ram. Any recommendations?

You should be happy you got the AUO panel. Some y50 owners in US got Chimei Screen which is reported worse than AUO.

Yea What is the colour gamut. Better if there's a review of the installation process, viewing angles and colour.
