It's been long long time ago since i last open threat to write review.

But as promise, i'll open up a unit and test the unit when Y50 Malaysian set has arrived. By the way, wish you don't mind with my own working desk as they are quite dirty, and also please bare with the mark as there are some irresponsible took our picture for granted

The LENOVO Y50-70 LAPTOP BOXING. It no longer long in size, but it's shorter but thicker. Still much easier to keep inventory

user posted image
Open up the box. The upper tray of the content is shown.

user posted image
The content of the package. It inclusive driver DVD, ADAPTER, USER MANUAL, n the EXTERNAL DVD

user posted image
Removing the upper accessories tray. Yay i can see the lappy is wrapped by black paper pouch. Feel more premium ey?

user posted image
When i took out the unit, i feel there is some weight on the unit, so i decided to put it on the weighing scale before i reveal the unit. It's 2.45KG with built in battery. Not bad for a gaming laptop thou

user posted image
The laptop is revealed. The A cover is made by metal. So by putting your hand on it you would basically feel the texture(design) too! brows.gif

user posted image
The bottom of the unit. It does have the same metal bottom cover. Oh that red color big "hole" is the place where the sub woofer located, so you can feel the boom boom drool.gif

user posted image
The Sticker of I7 and NVIDIA GTX. Nothing so special about them but simply but itchy saja cool2.gif

user posted image
The Slim 15.6" Full HD Anti Glare screen. And the current batches are AUO TN Panels AUO B156HTN03.6 . cool2.gif

user posted image
The keyboard area of the lappy. The Keyboard is red back illuminated. Oh ya, the area is TPE too! It shows a very similar visual feeling like the ASUS G750 series for this part hmm.gif

Hitting the picture limit earlier so split into the second post

user posted image
From this view, you can roughly get an idea how thick the laptop is. The USB3 ports are RED in color too!

user posted image
Y50-70 no longer uses the traditional round type power jack. Its similar to the one commonly found at LENOVO's Ultra book series.

user posted image
The Adapter also is no longer supplied by Huntkey but now by Delta Electronic. IMO its a good news as DELTA seldom fail us (at least base on my record la)

user posted image
uncrew the few philip screws on the bottom, and without much hassle i succesfully removed the back cover. Yet extra care is needed as there is a place need to be careful or else you might snap the rear audio cover

user posted image
The close up shot of the "Organs"

user posted image
The harddrive of the laptop. WD10SPCX. You could google for yourself if it's SSHD or Plain 5.4K harddisk

update: 11/11/2014. Lenovo has upgraded the machine to SSHD already cool2.gif

user posted image
The mini size motherboard cooled by dual heatpipe, dual heatsinkfan. icon_idea.gif

user posted image
The "Spirit" of a gaming laptop. Y50 without this is nothing at all. whistling.gif

user posted image
Alot of people has been wondering if it is a MAXWELL or KEPLER based GTX860M. So this picture said it all. Not sure if you notice something special here, but i not going to reveal the answer so quick biggrin.gif

The Most crucial part of the whole review. The TEMPERATURE of the laptop. At TECH ARMORY, we had sold more than 1k units of Gaming laptop thru out the years. But NONE can provide such good cooling capabilities for gaming laptop below RM4000. Both chips produce 73'C for GPU and 79'C for CPU when burning with FURMARK. Meanwhile while idle, CPU core max at 50'C and GPU at 40'C (All test took place at ambient of 29'C)

General spec for Y50-70 FULL HD MODEL:

4th Gen Haswell Refresh I7 4710HQ
8G LOW VOLTAGE 1600MHZ DDR3 (MAX 16G)
Nvidia Maxwell GTX860M 4G GDDR5 Discrete display
15.6" Full HD Antiglare TN Panel
1TB 5400 2.5" SLIM Harddrive
DOS / WINDOWS 8.1 PRELOADED
EXTERNAL DVDRW
20V 130Watt Rated Adapter

Since i am a retailer myself, i can't really provide a conclusion here but still able to narrow down some pros and cons:

Pros:
a. Very attractive price for the said performance
b. Backlid keyboard
c. Very good cooling capability
d. Slim body and low in weight (2.5KG incl external DVD Drive)
e. JBL Audio and Douby Digital Plus support

Cons:
a. Very little upgrade option
b. the color c/d abit low for the screen
c. brightness abit low

A few questions I would like to ask.
1. Is the 8GB RAM in configuration of 2x4GB or 1x8GB?
2. Which Wifi card is it using? Intel 3160AC or 7260AC or other card?
3. Which screen panel is it using? AUO panel or Chimei panel?
4. Photo of the Lenovo backpack and the external DVD drive.

you also another one who is gan jiong tongue.gif

Rumors is true but there is no ETA yet. I can't release it in public yet as the rest two have no confirm date of arrival yet. But you may PM me to talk in private smile.gif

Upgrading to 3 years onsite pricing has not yet been finalize yet but heard maybe is rm200. (NOT CONFIRM)

Chaning to IPS? yea it's possible as it's using the common 30pin connector.

4096MB VRAM? I'm sure that makes it so much more powerful than the desktop 3GB GTX 780 Ti... They should have increased the stupidly low memory bandwidth rather than cramming in more and more VRAM, looks good on advertising, but is utterly pointless at this resolution
