-To Kuala Kedah - So far no result on express buses to Kuala Kedah, but I have seen lotsa such buses. 1) hotel asia at kuah at under rm100, very new and clean. but it's at kuah

2) if you got car, then from cenang to kuah is very easy. without that, then taxi which is quite plenty at both side

After the 4 hours island hoping, both me and LY are sorta exhausted already. However, since both of us have a bad breakfast, we both agree that we should have something better before we check in our hotel.

However, nobody bother to served us or acknowledge that we will be served soon when we are here. Only 1 waiter is taking orders, and no other waiter are to be seen. We sat for almost 10 minutes before someone finally come to us. I am still amazed on my patience, maybe I am too tired? Hmm….

1. You can browse throu the website as stated on the first post for the pricing of the hotel. First, you need to identify which area you gonna stay, be it, Pantai Cenang, Kuah, Pantai Kok or?

2. Pretty easy to go around langkawi with car. The car rental is cheap in Langkawi. Please refer to earlier post for the pricing. The price is pretty much standard.

If you are in Kuah, try Wan Thai Restaurant in P'siaran Bunga Raya. Or 'nasi campur' style, go to Sinaran Restoren in front of Bank Rakyat near the duty free commercial area of Pandak Mayah. For Sinaran , go before 12 noon else all will be sold out!

Im there for 2 days so maybe when reach I will try the restoran u mention. Its nasi goreng/ nasi kandar style? Then next day lunch wat u rekomen?

Night maybe i will try samlee rekomen seafood. From earlier post i read is orkid seafood rite? Im very little order seafood. Is it just ask them rekomen how to cook thne htey will cook their special style? If got menu easier la but i think most seafood dun haf menu 1

If you are to go to the orkid restaurant, the menu there got lists out the style of cooking. Whilst, you can seek the recommendation from the waiter.

However, if you are ordering lobster, i wudnt recommend you to have it cook with salad. I ordered salad lobster and and it taste so so only. I wud recommend grill lobster.

The lobsters are spread into a few categories. Frozen or fresh. Frozen is price at RM18/100g. fresh is price at RM24/100g, 28/100g, 38/100g, depending on the size.

Yup. But i dont noe how it tastes. 300-400g, depends on what other dishes you order. Lobster wont make u full.

In between lobster and tiger prawn, i prefer tiger prawn. I ordered lobster bcoz my spouse neva eat lobster b4. geez --"

Wan Thai is a Malay Thai restaurant and their speciality is off course tomyam koong (recommmended) and also ikan kengsom jenahak (very recommended) and many other Thai food. The cooks are Pattani cooks and very authentic Thai food unlike those found here in KL. They have many other dishes, you can ask for the menu and as mentioned earlier Sinaran Restoren is a nasi campur kind of eatery. Not that I don't recommend chinese food but most chinese food there is ' outa ' ones, especially breakfast and lunch. The locals cooks differently (you will definately complain and those who moved there from mainland are those who cannot make it back home, so go figure). Unless you have stayed there for 13 years you won't get used to it, ha,ha.

As for good chinese food you can find them at night and worth mentioning is Yu Loong Restoren, Orchid Restoren (at night in Kuah) and also to a small extent Wonderland. Teo Seafood is also good if you don't mind kena cut throat a bit. Remember to always try the prawns in Langkawi. They are super fresh and nice! Also ask for grouper (koay kao) or jenahak (ang choh) and specify those which is fished from the sea and not cultured in cages. If you know them, there are fishermen who still used hook and line for fishing and these are the best fish.

He calculated it based on frozen price. Fresh lobster normally costs RM75 and above.

I have attached the pic for your reference. The pic is a fresh lobster ard 350g for RM80++ if i dun recall wrongly.

Just got back from a 4d3n trip.(Sat evening to Tue noon) Been to Langkawi a few times already, but this time finally tried the mangrove tour. Damn worth it. For those of u intend to go mangrove tour, just do it. U will not regret it. The guide was very professional, explaining in detail. I went to this agent called TCY Travel and Tours (opposite of The Cabin). Paid RM90 for the 6hrs tour(9-3pm, lunch included).
And also visited the Bird Paradise Wildlife Park, also worth it. Got to feed the birds and other animal. Quite an experience. Overall this trip is exciting, weather was good throughout. Pics coming soon....
I stayed at The Cabin for 1night and Fave Hotel for 2 nights.
For The Cabin, it's unique. Imagine they renovate the cabin into a room. And its smack right in the middle of Pantai Cenang.
Fave Hotel, well... it's a new hotel. Open Dec 2011. So everything is new. Less than 5min drive to Cenang. Nice view of the small paddy field.
Both hotels are recommended if u wanna stay at Cenang.
Car rental is a bit expensive due to long weekends, they raised up the price. Rented a Kia Picanto(quite a new car but makan minyak la this car), for RM270 throughout the 4days.
What else eh... if there is anything that i can help, pls. ask ya.

Ok, for food, if u want nice nasi lemak, do try out the Saloma Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang(dinner). Their nasi lemak ayam rempah was so good that I ended up tambah nasi and sambal! Hahahaha... but this is my standard la, what might be good/nice to me might be normal to u guys. It's near to Dataran Lang.

Luckily, it's ready after 5 minutes. Quite a big room eh....




The beach here is very very sux imo. Sand is not that soft, the sea water is not clear at all, more over when i step in it, the muddy (or tak tau apa) sand make my whole leg black =.=

But the infinity pool is bestest....loved it.





Four Points by Sheraton is a very new hotel in Langkawi, they are doing promotion rate of only RM320 nett per night. And while I am using cash + points which I accumulate in the past (I am a SPG member), I pay less than RM500 for 3 nights here.

IMO, although the location of this hotel sux, nothing to eat nearby, nothing to do nearby, and it's a 15minutes drive to Pantai Cenang, but with such huge room and the pool, i think RM320 nett per night is quite a good choice.

Went the Orkid reatoran at Kuah eat the seafood 200++. Order too much until cannot eat finish. Portion very big although order small. The butter cream lobster sauce very nice... then mantis prawn oso very big.. also order seaweed soup, vege and telur masin sotong

STay at senari bay very nice Is not directly on pantai cenang but same road as pantai cenang just drive straight for 4-5 mins. Is chalet style very big room. Got private beach summore. and service very good.. security also very good cos is private beach only the guest stay in

Me and my bf, plus 2 of his frens will be there from 17-20th. Then another gang of his frens I think 8 of them will arrive on 18-20th. All his frens so I guess it's gonna be kinda bored trip this round. Coz previously few trips to langkawi with those ppl I know one, this trip I only know 2 of them haha.. U all how many people? when u come out from arrival hall u can see those car renting booth. the price is quite standard so its almost same. what u need to do is make sure check the car condition first before proceed for payment. Don't take accident car to avoid argument when u return car later..good luck and have a nice trip

Am planning to spend 5 days in Langkawi. So, though of driving over to Langkawi instead of taking flight and later have to rent car in Langkawi.

Is it possible & advisable to drive over from mainland into Langkawi (via ferry)?

the last trip i go with friends, include my gf, so total 4 ppl liao, so share among us lo

my next trip to langkawi, i will stay at cenang area only, since i already been to most of worth to visit place in langkawi, my next trip will just relax by the beach, and maybe go to a fishing trip and mangrove tour

so yea, my next trip to langkawi i won't rent a car liao. will just rent a bicycle instead

then cycle around pantai cenang and pantai tengah, wee wee

it will take like 24 hours to reach langkawi (as per few pages before you ask). So you reach there, 24 hours you won't have a car to use. same like when you go back

the ferry that you sit on and the ferry that take your car to langkawi is different (unlike penang)

My friend arrived today and after picking him up at the airport, we head straight to oriental village and thinking to have breakfast there.

Too bad, when we arrived at oriental village at 10am, most restaurant/cafe not opened yet, only 1 of them opened.

after we had a quick breakfast, we noticed that the queue for the cable car is LONG

damned....

after queuing up for like 1 hour or so....



the femes sky bridge, the view is quite good



and from the platform to the sky bridge , you have to walk, and it's not near at all. Picture below is taken from the sky bridge, and the platform where the cable car will reach is on top.



After cable car, it's go kart time...and yes, at 1pm

too bad, no picture..haha. It cost RM37 per person for 10 minutes, which is not cheap, but the track is quite a fun one.

assuming you going by boat, once you out of jetty, as in the shopping complex, you will see some taxi around d, before reaching the rent car area.

if kuah town, seems that just have to wait by the road and catch 1 that pass by, or just ask the hotel to find 1 for you.

Hey Samlee, thank u for your info. I going by flight. Will stay 1night in Kuah town hotel. That's y next morning i need to go Harbour Park by 8.30am. Just afraid Kuah area hard to get cab. Do you roughly know the rate from Kuah to Harbour.
