I wore shorts & slippers too. Even brought a mineral bottle from home onboard. It's like a bus ride, a very expensive bus ride.

Well, it's neither very cheap nor very expensive. Reasonable KL rate in my opinion. If you want really cheap seafood, can try Kuala Selangor.

5) Visit Wildlife & Bird Park
6) Visit Cable car & Sky Bridge (Sky Bridge closed until next year).
7) Shopping at duty free shops
8) Drink & get wasted at the beach
9) Do water sports - jet ski, banana boat, para sailing etc
10) Eat chocolate whole day long

besides Malibest resort any other recommendation ? we going for 4D3N

If you want a beach front hotel along Cenang with a nice white sandy beach to chill & relax, Malibest is the place to be. But if you're gonna be traveling around, any other resort will be fine.

I've walked quite a long stretch along Cenang, only Malibest's beach has soft, smooth & white sands. The other area are kinda dirty & rough.

is it possible to walk from pantai tengah (near Unkaizan) to pantai cenang? i checked on google map, it says it'll take about 25mins. i mean is it safe?
and are there any bicycles for rent at pantai tengah?

Langkapuri is a good apartment , 2 nights for 7 people was around 700-800 including breakfast + extra beds .

Hi everyone, would need some help here. I will be heading to Langkawi for holiday this coming December but I will arrive at the airport in the evening around 6pm. Would the car rental companies still be available at that time? If not, I would have to pre book my car before I leave for Langkawi. thanks

langkawi's night life is pretty much dull... only pantai centai stretch is slightly happening..

i think cenang is the only place which is more happening compare to other places..more convenient along cenang..most famous (but not-so-clean beach)...clubbing you can try Sunba, the only place which i think its "ok"...there got another few more...i cant really recall the name but those places not nice at all...

almost same case with this dude.. im going there end of this december.. i only need a small reliable car for two person. any recommendation?

got chinese foods, i think Orkid Ria at Cenang is not bad & reasonable price...

if wanna try thai foods, Sawadee Thai Seafood is not bad Another chinese restaurant is Deng Long Restaurant...

Any apartment to recommend and to avoid? I m goin on next yr aug, got lots of time to slowly explore.

I am a regular to the Island of Langkawi, I rent my car from a local regular, a friendly Chinese guy. Very helpful throughout my stay in Langkawi. If you are still interested in a long period car rental, do let me know, I will try to contact the person for you.

Added on November 6, 2012, 11:42 pmLangkawi is a very easy place to explore on your own. I always go there and stay in a specific Budget Hotel. The Chinese Owner there is very friendly and helpful, I will just ask them where to go, what to eat, and he will point me at the right direction. And he have some contacts for small fun fishing trips, eagle feeding and snorkeling!!
(LESS headache and hassle)

I believe you just have to trust the locals, talk to them and have fun! That's how the Angmoh goes for holiday.

what budget hotel can you recommend?

Lol, i gonna sound like I am a hotel agent for them..

I know the owner of Cocotop Hotel in Kuah town, I normally stay there and travel out to Langkawi for holidays.
The room is fairly small and you may not be expecting top class stay! But the best thing i like about that hotel is
that the bedsheets they use is the white type. I think its the same type as the 3 star hotel.
(At least it's clean and nice to sleep on)

FREE WIFI is available too.
Also the Uncle owner there will let me know what's new in town or where to go and eat. Sometimes he will arrange
snorkeling trips at cheaper rate. (If it's not peak seasons.)
If you will want to go fishing, he has some contacts too! (it's for noob fishing, but should be able to catch some fish)

No breakfast provided. Why get hotel breakfast when you can go out for some ikan bakar breakfast or other local
delights!

Don't get your hopes too high on the Hotel though, it looks a little like a motel.


Note that the hotel is in town, if you are looking for some beachsides, you may look for those at Pantai Cenang.

My every visit to Langkawi, always go for that Hotel because I am not the type that like the watersports activities
there. I go to other beach for swims (cleaner waters) I will only go to Cenang for their large variety of food and
Sunset.
