I'm going to Langkawi again but with an entirely different ... ideas...

When I went there (only once I've been to LGK) I rented a driver/tour guide. But now I want to drive in there.

Questions :
1) What does it mean takes up to 2 days if bring own car in? doh.gif that means if I go there 5 days 4 nights, I only get to use for 3 days, then when I go back, how ? LOL. No car to drive back to KL !

2) Assuming dun wanna bring car into Langkawi... I want to rent a car as good as what I wanted to bring in - Evo X, ada tak? cry.gif

3) Does drinking and driving still apply in Langkawi? laugh.gif just kidding.

1 -You think Langkawi is link to mainland like Penang kah? and got those car ferries like in Penang? So to bring in car to Langkawi, you need to go through those tranport agents that will arrange all necessary paper works & also port areangement for temporary exporting your car to Langkawi & from Langkawi back to Kuala Perlis or Kedah. So the process is not like Penang ferry. Last time I heard 2 days but I think there was one guy here successfully exported & imported to/bck his car there within 1 day. Bear in mind your car & yourselve will be on diff mode of tranport not like Penang.

2- You got money even porche also you can rent but not easy to find for sure.

3 - Drinking & smoking yes in Langkawi. Driving? you must be dreaming wth the limited dual carriageway there between Kuah town to Airport...no chance for you to enjoy. Might as well renting the cheapest car - kancil?

No joke, I good a surprise gift in Perth recently.. The receptionist of the hotel I stayed saw 3 of us coming in and asking us how on earth are we gonna sleep in one bed. In my mind, I was thinking..boy they gonna charge me xtra for additional bed like what I expereinced in Jogja. However instead of that, she offered me 1 queen + 1 single ber room without any xtra charge!!  cool2.gif  rclxms.gif

Teow Soon Huat at Kuah Town and Billion supermarket are the names I was told that carry genuine items. The rest were said to May have counterfeit goods. Not sure how true this is. I'm not paid or affiliated to the two stores.

As for night markets there are around the island. You'll need a locally printed map and you should see it. And during the Ramadhan season, many eateries are not opened early and currently as I'm here, I can see it's kinda low season. And shops are opened still but during breaking fast they will close for an hour or so. Cenang road has got more stuffs/food as there are more ang moh there, it seems.

is it advisable to book car in advance?
will be heading there in mid july(after raya)

Recommended you book in advanced. I booked my Innova at rm 132 per day (or per 24 hours cos I paid 264 only for my 3d2n stay. I'm actually replying from Langkawi at the moment.

Staying far north of the island, a still renovating and partially midst construction resort with a private-ish beach, owners are very nice people, lent me a motorcycle (no fees) and i went round the northern coast of Tanjung Rhu. The bike belongs to one of the owners and not for rent. I borrowed because it is a one of a kind bike that's not in Malaysia. Haha.

Dear owners, if you're reading this, I will be back surely.

Apart from that, rented an Innova in advance at mylangkawideals.com for rm 264 for my 3d2n trip. I am not sure why but per day charge is 132, I think they go by 24-hours basis? Driving yourself is much easier and comfortable, better privacy and at your free will.

Hi can share your experience renting with mylangkawideals.com? do they have a booth/counter at the airport?

Thanks!  notworthy.gif

Yes they do but I suggest you book in advance as their counter (just right next to the arrival gate) may not have anyone there at times.

So at least if you booked, you can secure a car + those abang2 waiting to prey on you also cannot slit throat dy laugh.gif

Nevertheless, these guys are nice too, if you already booked, they'll also help you find the person in charge like my case (the counter was closed/no attendant)
