Hi Guys!!

Back after a short hiatus user posted image

Anyway.. just wanted to get everyone's opinion.

I read a few of the pages of this thread, there were too many 91+ pages!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I understand that its is generally cheaper to bargain for a car rent at the airport itself.

However, is there anywhere or anyone here who has direct phone numbers of the car renter themselves that i could get in touch with before actually landing in the airport as i dont really like to negotiate in person as they will pressure you to make a decision and worse, i dont really like being haggled by multiple renter touting their offers.

Your help is greatly appreciated guys! i am looking to stay in Langkawi for 4D3N or 5D4N.

Cheers!!
*
Haha, have to be very good with negotiating. When we landed at Langkawi airport, we were offered RM 80 per day for a Sentra which is in quite bad condition (We wanted to rent for 2 days). Apparently Myvi and Viva all booked according to the person. Must be brave to walk and back out. Try to nego RM 150 also that guy tak lepas. End up we walked back to the airport and that guy gives us RM 150 and then RM 140. Still back out because we want smaller car.

Another guy approached us and RM 140 for Myvi. smile.gif Surprised because earlier guy told no more Myvi or Viva to rent out. While walking to the car park to inspect, we ask if there's Vios available. He say got, for RM 80 (same price as Sentra) and the Vios is in good condition. Took that one.

Pass roadblock on day 1, thank god it's Vios with proper document and rental permit. No issue. biggrin.gif

If you want, can call 019 - 479 0425 or 012 - 566 9499 (Jamaludin) for Jazirah Holidays.

Oh if you're planning to go Penang, check out Hertz at the airport counter. They're having promo - Hyundai i10 for RM 55.

Thank you for the awesome advise. Just exactly what i need. I'll message Jamaludin in this case. Do you mind sharing when was your trip to Lgk? Was it in peak or non peak as i will be heading during peak season - Mid Dec for a few days so i assume the car rental rate will be more expensive than the RM80 per day for rate for VIOS you manage to win.
*
I just went there last week (2nd - 4th November). Not sure on the rates but be sure to nego. smile.gif

around 11pm or 12pm?
Thank you.

There's one duty free shop at Pantai Cenang area that was open at 2am when we drove past. You might want to visit. The price is quite uniform with other duty free shops.

Icehart, thanks. The Vios you rented in good condition right, how you define that was good? Is it like old GOOD, or new GOOD?  brows.gif

Like old good. It's a year 2007/2008 Vios. smile.gif

Any recommendations for hotel facing a good beach like holiday villa? The sister federal villa is my main pick now but the condition of that hotel doesn't justify it's price and it looks more or less like malibest hahah. Considering sheraton but it is very old and small beach.

Looking for a cleaner and newer hotel cause my group consist of super princess girls that are choosy, so yeah. sad.gif

Budget around 300 ish.
*
Lol, bad to go with princess but looking at that price range unfortunately can only afford SPG Four Points. Last time I went around 281 rate inclusive of taxes. Hotel conditions quite worn out but what to expect from a Cat 2. The Westin is a better choice if you have the budget, it's near to Jetty too so island hopping and beach activities not really a problem. I don't know when you are going so I can't answer to Westin rates as their pricing fluctuates often.

Also check out Luxury Collection, sometimes their rate is cheaper and I always rate Luxury Collection a category higher than Westin.

Your budget is per pax or per night? and how many people per room?

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendation for 4d 3n itinerary at Langkawi?

Also, any recommendation on car rental services?

I have already booked my hotel but if I want to stay on an island for 1 night, any recommended islands to stay at?

Thanks a lot!

Lol. Let's not get into that. My 1st island in Malaysia bah. Nevee went to islands in Malaysia before. Add me back in group too.
Car rental or holidays?

How about the itinerary peeps? Any route to recommend?
*
Car Rental.
Can't advise but you have plenty of time to go for most, if not all the attractions in Langkawi. I practically spend half a day to visit 50% of Langkawi's attraction. laugh.gif

Those planning to go Langkawi please do visit Wonderland seafood restaurant. They have some of the freshest seafood for a very good price. thumbup.gif

Also, I've posted a car rental number back few pages ago and I am posting it now again. 019-479 0425 / 012 566 9499 (Jazirah Holidays). This is a legal car that I've rented and am very satisfied with the price offered.

bro..rm80 (not rm60 bcoz they said Feb 22-23th still consider CNY holiday) for viva 1 day is that okay? or pricey? I just give them a call. Good thing is they can send the car to jetty (I will reach langkawi by ferry) and return the car at airport (i will take flight back to KL). I am quite poor in negotiating.
*
That rate is not bad lah considering it's CNY holiday.

serious? good thing is they sound very helpful.

i also not sure about my iti to langkawi on this 22 or 23rd. Not sure to go on 22nd and spend 1 night at langkawi or take earliest ferry and reach langkawi at around 11am and tour until 6pm and go back to KL at 7.40pm.

too many route until I get confused  cry.gif
*
Quite rush if you want to do that. I would suggest not to. Best to spend a night and take your own time exploring Langkawi and do duty free shopping.

Hi I'm planning to rent a car during my vacation. Does Waze or Google map work over there? Hows the coverage for UMobile over there as well? Thank
*
Google Maps always work. The question is whether you can get coverage or not when you're there. Not sure about umobile but Maxis is full bar with H+.
