Unlike some other manufacturers, MSI have a clear division between each model in their range, from the lowly G45 up to the enthusiast GD80. It's a simple system with a bigger number meaning a higher end motherboard, and few branches off the path.

The Big Bang nomenclature is reserved for the highest models in the range. Where Gigabyte has a UD7, ASUS the 'Extreme', so MSI have a Big Bang. Each model comes with a different suffix, and today we're taking a look at the latest in their range, the Z77 Big Bang MPower.

Added on November 12, 2010, 9:29 amuumm. I was wondering is it possible to add a GTX 460 with my current HD6870? there was a "Graphic Compability Chart" that comes with the mobo, and it stated that some AMD GPU is not compatible with some Nvidia GPU, so I was wondering GTX 460 and HD6870 okeyh?

I would say it's possible as we still can see AMD 5 series to be compatible with the 2 series as well, and also AMD 4 series with Nvidia 4 series.

But for the time being, we will have to wait for the Lucid to release a new drivers in near time.

coz last time setup with mixed gpu not as good as CF or SLI solely..

33% performance boost AMD
15% performance boost for both Nvidia and AMD

To you, it might be a pretty low performance increase, but I assume this new technology will get better.

When the Military Class Concept was first launched in 2009, MSI is the only manufacturer to include the mentioned server grade components in the production of Mainboard and Graphic Card. It's pretty clear that MSI is very much focused in providing better stability and durability in their product line. Now that it's an open secret that MSI is going to introduce Military Class II in the upcoming Intel Sandy Bridge platform, I notice that other than a new revision/generation name change, the only difference spotted is the inclusion of Super Ferrite Choke. After a quick peek at the upcoming P67 series mainboard, it seems that all of them are equipped with SFC. One will get disappointed with Military Class II if he/she hopes for full-makeover while those who ponder just a little, they may realize that it's quite difficult to make a improve something which is already one of the best around.

hrmm... MSI did bring in 20 pieces if i'm not mistaken, the normal version. but within days all sold out. and i see this trend not only with MSI brand, other brands as well. Maybe because of the pricing of 6870. as for Cyclone, Hawk or Lightning version, it is definitely slower as it's not reference card.

but now the main issue of the delay is caused by the shortage of AMD GPU Chipset.

TechnoG: yeah... it's my fault. cause i'm not a gamer. and by the time i know that the game is not stressing, it was already the day before the event starts. i couldn't make any changes anymore other than changing the graphic card. initially we planned to showcase the MSI N480GTX Lightning. about the monitor, no idea actually. all i know it's an 27 inch Viewsonic loaned by Viewnet, the Official PC Reseller for the event. hehe..

LucidLogix has just released a new driver, version 1.7.103 for MSI Fuzion boards with Hydra technology.The biggest improvements spotted are support for the NV GTX580 and the AMD HD6xxx series. It's really time to say goodbye to the traditional "Blue & White" Bios Screen. No doubt that the more-than-a-decade-technology has served us well and still going strong among users/overclockers, and honestly I still like it. Now with the new up-coming Intel Sandy Bridge Platform, we are going to witness a new era of BIOS with better interactive interface, the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Not only MSI, I believe other manufacturers are also providing EFI Bios for their P67 Chipset product line. EFI has been seen around for quite sometime in the server industry, but starting from 5th January 2011, it will be largely seen in our daily desktop. I'm not an expert in explaining the difference between BIOS vs EFI, wikipedia should be better than me. So just click the below link for detail information about both BIOS and EFI. However, i would like to share with the community on the EFI that will be seen in MSI P67/H67 Mainboard Lineup, namely MSI ClickBIOS. I'll share some of the key features we always play with. I deeply hope those who 'love' to lurk around in BIOS will be interested.

This MSI ClickBIOS "sharing" should have done in video mode. Actually the Menu Tabs is interactive, they "jump" around when you are about to select it. But too bad, i'm kinda poor, no video cam. And sorry for the picture poor quality. As for EFI Bios, it takes time to mature i guess. As for now, i still prefer the traditional "Blue & White" BIOS. Maybe i'm just an orthodox guy.

I was wondering if a V6GT/Ninja 3 can fit into Big Bang Fuzion?
there is the DrMos thingy that is surrounding the CPU socket, and since V6GT is pretty low, will it be hitting the DrMos thingy?

hrmm... i have both the Big Bang Fuzion and Ninja 3. But my Big Bang Fuzion is attached to Grand Kama Cross while the Ninja 3 is used as my Benching Heatsink. if got time i'll help you to test it out.

Shouldn't be a problem for V6GT...

Since this is a MSI thread, i got some problem regarding my motherboard P55 GD65 motherboard.

I want to update my bios to the latest version, (from 1.9 to 1.b) Previous MSI update will able to let u update the bios without using any diskette. But it seems like the latest MSI software update does not allow me to update the bios , if so I will need to use diskette as boot up disk. Anyone know how to counter problem like this? Thanks.

i believe the P55 GD65 has a M-Flash function. using the M-Flash fuction, you download the bios file, copy it to your thumbdrive, then goto bios. Select M-flash in bios and select the Update Bios option. But remember to plug-in your thumbdrive before booting up to bios. hehe...

But to do that, the thumbdrive must be formatted right? I have tried to put the bios setup file in it, and the bios is unable to detect the file in the thumbdrive :S

nope, the thumbdrive does not need to be formatted. you actually do no need to copy all bios file downloaded. just put the file name similar to something like A7582IMS.110 and you are good to go. if the bios is unable to detect the file, it maybe incompatible bios or you didn't plug in the thumbdrive before booting into bios.

Thanks for the info, i just realized that the exe file that i download from msi website does not work for m-flash. I download another version which is not the executable file and i'm able to flash the bios. Thanks again for your help.

One thing though, do you face any problem regarding the MSI liveupdate version 5? cause verytime i found out that when I tried to download and install the motherboard drivers, and rescan the entire system, the liveupdate will still show me that particular driver which i have installed already. :S

i don't really use MSI Liveupdate as i prefer to update all of my driver direct through the vendor website. As for your statement there, iirc the Liveupdate5 will update some of the outdated driver. so maybe the driver you have install is outdated.

Driven by a desire to “insist on the best,” MSI will be exhibiting a number of powerful G Series gaming notebooks at 2011 CES, including the top end GT680—the “fastest notebook on the planet.” When tested with PC MARK Vantage tools, it attained a speed of 18,162 points. It has the fastest operating system in the world, performing some three times faster than the average speed of high end gaming books currently on the market.

Eric Kuo, associate vice president for global sales, MSI Notebook, points out that the GT680 is the world’s most powerful laptop. It features Intel’s latest four core CPU, nVidia GeForce’s newest generation high end discrete graphics card, and four DDR3 memory slots expandable to 16GB of memory. It also supports accelerated dual hard disk architecture, which not only doubles storage capacity, but also kicks up read-write speed by approximately 70%.

Kuo added that another reason that the GT680 is the fastest NB in the world is the fact that it uses MSI’s own TDE+ (Turbo Drive Engine+ technology) which allows both the CPU and GPU to turbo simultaneously. Just one touch of the luminescent Turbo hot key located above the keyboard throttles up performance, making the MSI GT680 the king of gaming books.



New platforms in MSI F, C, U, X Series to debut at CES
In addition to the G Series, MSI will be showing the F Series of ultimate performance notebooks and C Series of classic multimedia notebooks at CES. The F Series, which boasts Intel latest generation processing platform, offers ultimate performance and highly responsive systems software. What’s more, the F Series NBs to be shown at CES are all equipped with THX TruStudio Pro smart wrap around sound which up until now was only available in cinemas, providing faithful sound regardless of music type or frequency band. In addition to Intel’s high performance CPUs, the all new MSI C laptop series comes equipped with SRS PC Sound for a rich, realistic cinematic experience.

In the area of light, easy-to-carry computers, MSI will be unveiling the U270 and U160DX from the U Series and the X370 from the X-Slim Series. The U160DX comes with the Intel Atom N550 duo core processor, while the U270 and X370 will sport AMD’s new generation processing platform, greatly enhancing system computing performance for those who want power in a small package. In addition, in an era in which multimedia devices, such as mobile phones, tablet notebooks, and portable music players, are becoming increasingly common, all MSI products being displayed at CES 2011 will come equipped with MSI’s exclusive i-Charger technology, which pumps more current through USB ports to greatly enhance recharge efficiency. Furthermore, MSI NBs with USB 3.0 can recharge as much as three times faster, giving your multimedia devices less down time.

New generation MSI WindPads to make appearance at CES
At next year’s CES, MSI will be showing off its WindPads, its newest generation tablets with Win-Tel and Android platforms. These two tablets come equipped with a G-Sensor gravity detecting device, an ALS light sensor, and Wi-Fi. These two chic machines, which will be making their debuts at CES 2011, are testimony to MSI’s industry-leading capabilities in terms of innovative R&D and stylish design.

MSI Malaysia Online OverClocking Challenge 2011 - Super Pi 1M
Dear OverClocking Addicts here in Malaysia. We, MSI Malaysia is glad to present you our first Official OverClocking Challenge. All along we only supported a few OC Events organized by the community itself. And the respond has been great. So now we decided to organize one ourselves to test our organizing ability and also to gain more knowledge about the OverClocking Market locally. Straight to the point, we would really love to lend our hand to the Malaysia OverClocking Community in any way possible. So after 2 days of discussion and a little consultation from members who organized such OverClocking Challenge before, MSI Malaysia Online OverClocking Challenge 2011 - Super Pi 1M is now ONLINE. Therefore, with only 2 days of planning, the prizes may not be as amazing as expected but if the respond is encouraging, this will be an on-going project with better prizes. It may turn to MSI Monthly OverClocking Challenge 2011.

The stock cooling is surprisingly good. Hard to decide whether I should mod it though.

A happy gtx580 owner spotted. If u planned to OC it to 1000mhz, 3rd party cooler is way to go.

Thanks, probably overclock a bit when I managed to get either Zalman or Artic Cooling GPU cooler for this.

More interested in overclocking processor since it's almost 2 years old.

want to ask if msi have intel s776 board that support both ddr2 and ddr3 ?
and any msi s1366 board that have at least 5 years warranty or dont use a realtek lan chipset ?

May i know if it's s775 which you are relating to as I know s776 are only for Xeon Chips. And if it's s775, we only do not carry any combo ram slots motherboard in Msia.

Currently all our products carry 3 yrs warranty which I believe is a standard for most manufacturers until further notice.

For the time being, most of our motherboard uses Realtek, one of the biggest world provider in LAN Chip.

Ive just grabbed a pair of MSI GTX580s recently on box n PCB sticker printed as OC Edition with model no. XXXX-OC would like to know what's the difference vs normal edition? Coz in my observation nothing special still core 775mhz same cooler etc. Pls clarify. Thx in advanced

Currently there is no plan to bring in the 870 Fuzion Power Edition into Msia yet. We might consider this if the demand is good.


Thanks bro for giving MSI an opportunity in your rig again. For the question, the OC basically refers to the Over Voltage function of GPU, as for native support in AfterBurner.
